Event Blossom Ball- Trial of Hades

IMPORTANT: I have recently changed my character’s name but the IC change is in effect from July so at this time I’m still using the old name, which was Carolyn Hunt.

Don’t worry, this is the last trial. Carolyn had to remind herself once the girls reached their final destination. There was nothing but darkness yet darkness left plenty to imagination and the young Ravenclaw had a great one. Still, she was always the calm and collected one. Some people even found her ability to keep so calm frustrating others though…others mostly appreciated said trait. She was taught to be reasonable at all times by her Korean father and even now, she didn’t want to let Lucia down by appearing nervous. She was, after all, usually the person to offer support. Like a tree, one could lean on when needed. Strong but flexible, dancing with the wind without breaking. A somewhat uncertain “Good luck” from her friend brought the girl back to reality. “Don’t worry. They wouldn’t actually hurt us and we went through all the other trials. This is the last one. We can do it.” She offered some words of encouragement despite knowing it wouldn’t be easy. Carolyn wasn’t naive, this was supposed to be hell after all. How about we think about the Disney’s Hades instead…that one was pretty fun. The witch thought to herself as she finally stepped into the darkness.

There was no fun to be found in the maze. She tripped over skeleton at one point and nearly freaked out but then she took a deep breath, counted to ten and called upon her usual rational self. No, this is basically REALLY scary haunted house. A mere fairground attraction. It wasn’t, not really, but it helped her to stay calm. Explaining things to herself usually helped and it was no different this time.

Finally, after a long battle with her own mind, came the easier part… specifically the three questions. Not that they were incredibly easy to answer but it gave her something else to focus on other than the horrors of the maze. “Ageing Potion...” The witch repeated thoughtfully, taking some time to clear her head before answering. “That would be Bananas, an orange snake, a green leaf and…” Those three were easy to recall but what was the last one? “Oh…I got it…the last ingredient should be Newt spleens.” She said happily…well as happily as she could given the circumstances. The next question was rather easy. Since her mother was a healer and had shown her many potions, she recognised this one almost immediately. “That one is pretty great treatment for acne.” She said confidently, already eagerly awaiting the last question. Thankfully, the Ravenclaw knew the answer to that one too. “Ahh... Bundimum?” She asked, cringing involuntary. “The stinky little…” Realizing her mistake, Carolyn quickly stopped herself. No cursing! She could almost hear her grandma’s voice. “I mean…it’s a beast. Green, smelly beast with unnatural amount of eyes, lying around oozing acid?” It was a pest really. “But apparently it is an ingredient for some potions so I guess that’s something.” Carolyn shrugged. It still didn’t change the fact that they were disgusting but at least there was some use to them.

Trial of Hades Moderation

The Trial of Hades, a maze so dark even the keenest of eyes would struggle to perceive the world around them. Add to it some jump scares and strategically placed obstacles, increasing in difficulty the further into the maze they travelled, and the Heroes would find themselves hard pressed to succeed. Throwing a pop quiz into the mix on top of everything else was just sadistic icing on the proverbial cake of this Trial. As some mysterious deity - All Praise Tatsu - seemed to dictate, many struggled with the final, most difficult part of the maze, needing a bit of assistance to find their way back to the light. Three unfortunate Heros, Anastasia Beckett, Evelynn Decipio, and Yefim Rumyantsev, were perhaps a bit too prideful upon entering the challenge and found themselves hopelessly lost in the first section, only able to continue forward with the Trial host’s assistance. Iris Fields fell prey to hubris in the second section, tripping over an obstacle and crashing to the ground. Turned around by her fall, she also needed assistance to reach the final section.

Congratulations to all the Heroes who attempted the Trial of Hades. You challenged the God of the Underworld in his own domain and came out, for better or worse, alive. Some of you should probably hit the books though.
