Underestimated Anxiety PV Finished

Verla felt comforted to be by Fina, knowing she would always be by her side, in a way, they were kind of forced to become friends since they'd just met. "I wish I couldn't remember who my parents were" she said. She wanted to disappear, she felt herself burn up, like she was on fire. But she wasn't, and she jumped into the lake. She knew she would later come to regret it if the mermaids saw her, she'd be in so much trouble for disturbing them. If she even survived. She swam around, then went under water but not far from the surface. She checked her surroundings, and the coast was clear, she'd have at least ten minutes before they began to notice legs in their home. She'd be so mad if she saw legs in her home, especially if she was a mermaid.

But then the next thing she knew, she was pulled under water, and she began to scream. The mermaid gave her an air bubble and said "I'm here to help you, stop squirming" she hissed, and Verla immediately began to panic, hoping Fina would notice. But then she was in pain in her legs, and she saw a tail instead. 

Sarafina watched as Verla jumped into the lake.
“Be careful,” she called after her. She was worried about mermaids in the water. She didn’t want any of them to be disturbed. Suddenly she heard a scream from under the water. She didn’t know how she heard it, but she did. “Oh my god,” she said out loud. She was freaking out. She jumped in after Verla and swam down. She found her after a minute or two and then something grabbed her. She thrashed, trying to break free when suddenly she could breathe again. She gasped, seeing that Verla had a tail. “What is this?” She asked. A mermaid swam up to her.
“I’m here to help you. Relax.” Sarafina nodded, glancing nervously at Verla.
“If this is about the fire, I don’t see how you can help us. You live in the water, and we’re working with fire. Those are kind of opposites,” she said. Stopping as she felt a sharp pain. She looked down to see a glistening blue and green scaly tail. “Woah...” she stared at it. It was so cool! She loved being a mermaid. Wait, now that they were mermaids could they breathe underwater? Was it permanent? She had so many questions. It was amazing.

Verla didn't think it was permanent, at least she hoped it wasn't. But she was scared. "I didn't need help!" she shouted.

"You did from them" the mermaid pointed to the other ones, swimming around their city. "Relax, once you sit out of the water you'll get your legs back, and only this type of water will change you back, the thing in this lake can't be taken out of it so even if someone tried it wouldn't work, so don't worry, you're safe."

"Well thanks" Verla said "but you still didn't have to change us, or freak me out."

"Well your life was important as I can see with your bowtruckle. I'm Castity, call me Cas. You two better get going."

Verla helped Fina out of the water and onto the dock, when she got back on it, her legs her back "Great, more blood to add to the list of things wrong with me. Now I really and a Mudblood" she looked down ashamed. Ollie screamed at her and she looked at him like he'd just slapped her. Which was his purpose. She gasped when she realized she'd said the word "I'm sorry Fina, I didn't mean to call you one."

Sarafina was still staring at the tail.
"I didn't need help!" Verla shouted.
"You did from them" the mermaid pointed to the other mermaids. Sarafina could make out the faint shape of the city they were around. "Relax, once you sit out of the water you'll get your legs back, and only this type of water will change you back, the thing in this lake can't be taken out of it so even if someone tried it wouldn't work, so don't worry, you're safe." Sarafina was glad it wasn't permanent.
"Well thanks, but you still didn't have to change us, or freak me out," Verla had answered.
"Yeah...you did kind of scare us," Sarafina added.
"Well your life was important as I can see with your bowtruckle. I'm Castity, call me Cas. You two better get going," the mermaid said. Sarafina nodded.
"Thank you for helping, Cas," Sarafina said. Verla helped her back out of the water and onto the dock. At last they got their legs back.
"Great, more blood to add to the list of things wrong with me. Now I really and a Mudblood," Verla said. Oliver screamed and Verla quickly realized what she had said. She apologized, but Sarafina was fine.
"It's fine Verla, no need to apologize. We all slip up sometimes," she said. She looked back into the water and smiled when she saw a faint shape swimming away from them.

Verla felt hurt that she'd said that, and she began to sob "I wish I were normal, I don't want these things wrong with me. Oh I'm so sorry I got you into this Fina, please forgive me" she hugged her friend. She was mad at herself, she just needed to gather her thoughts, when she leaned back from Fina, she looked down at the lake, and a tear fell and hit the water. She sniffled and wiped her nose, she really just wanted to go home, but to what home? 

"I just feel so awful. First I was rude to you, then my parents didn't want me, then I got these fire powers and mermaid blood" she hid her face in her arms and rested them on her knees, curling into a ball "I just want it all to go away, how am I going to get through this Fina? I don't know what to do."

Oliver pet her head as he sat on her shoulder and whispered in her ear. Then she lit up and smiled, then giggled "oh Oliver you silly boy." Verla said as she gently hugged him. She was very lucky to have Oliver, he was as good as anyone else. Because he knew how to make her laugh.

Ve was up in a tree near the lake, her harpy eagle, Bates on her shoulder both reading about something random. She was about to turn the page until she heard something, it was Bates, "Yes?" she asked looking at him, he chirped in response. "Okay just don't stray to far." she told him, and he nodded taking off into the air flying twoards the lake. She loved the quite and calming feel of this area. She was shifting into a better position in the tree. She was now hanging off it, upside down. She didn't like the school, to her it was to loud and she disliked most students, they gave her weird looks as she passed, so she always came out her to calm down.

She let out a loud sigh and snapped the book shut, and climbed down the tree. When she reach the bottom she placed the book in the bag that she always had with her, and pulled one out about dark magic. She started to walk to the lake, when she got there she fell to the sand. She looked up and saw Bates circling in the air, "BATES!" she shouted to him. He looked at her and gracefully landed on her arm. "Heya bud." she said, and pulled out a peice of raw meat from her pocket and gave it to him.

Sarafina swore her heart broke as her friend started apologizing again.
"It's fine Verla, honestly. I'm sorry about everything going on with your parents. You'll get through this. We will together." She hugged her friend back and decided to try to cheer her up. She set a small flame in her hand and turned it into a tiny Oliver. She got another one going and turned it into Verla. She had the flames chase each other around, Oliver doing clever things like climbing up her arm and hiding in her hair. She heard someone near them and quickly extinguished the flames, but she feared the person had already seen. The girl had an adorable eagle perched on her arm. Then again, Sarafina thought all animals were adorable. She figured maybe the girl would go away if she didn't say anything. Maybe she hadn't seen anything and would just leave them alone. Hopefully. Otherwise they would either need to be friends or whoever that was had something huge she could use against them. She seemed nice, but Fina wasn't in a trusting mood. She watched the eagle. The eagle had probably noticed the fire. What was the name the girl had called out? Bates? That sounded right. Hopefully Bates wouldn't tell the girl...

Bates flew back up and around the area scanning the lake and noticed figures. He looked behind him to see Ve fast asleep. He swooped down and hovered in front of the girl and tilted his head. He flew closer and landed on her shoulder being careful of his talons, when he landed he nuzzled his head on her's making a purring like noise. He only like certain people and she was one of them.

He sniffed her head and booped her with his beak. Bates looked at the sadder girl and looked at Sarafina sadly. He shook his head, and took of into the air, doing Arial tricks to cheer them up. Bates had the ability to sense people feelings. He liked these people so he didn't want to see them sad. He dived and stopped in front of the girl allowing the wind to be blown into her face. Bates gave a small chirp to her and flew up over the lake. He gave one more chirp, before flying back to Ve and lying next to her. Before he fell asleep he looked at Ve then Sarafina, her shook his head and ruffles his feathers making him puff out, he shook and his feathers went back down. He preened his feathers and climbed onto Ve's stomach a quickly fell asleep.

Sarafina noticed that the girl had fallen asleep. Her eagle flew over by her and Verla, doing tricks to try and cheer them up. She laughed as Bates did twirls and flips through the air. She liked the feeling of the wind as Bates flew by and some blew in her face whenever He flapped his powerful wings. She smiled at the eagle, forgetting her previous sad emotions. She had always thought eagles were beautiful, graceful, creatures. Bates definitely lived up to that title. The eagle finished his tricks and laid down on the girl's stomach, falling asleep too. A soft breeze blew Sarafina's hair as she walked over and sat by the lake, letting her bare feet make ripples in the water. She took in everything Verla had said. She had mermaid blood apparently...That was cool. Sarafina knew she didn't but felt happy for Verla. That meant that Verla could probably get help from the mermaids if she needed it, and Sarafina wanted her friend to be safe. Who knew, maybe there was more to herself too. She didn't know her parents for very long, so she had no idea what her bloodline was. She didn't even know if they were wizards or not. She looked out at the vast blue water and smiled, feeling calm.

Verla giggled at Fina's attempt. Then an eagle came around. Verla had no clue where it came from. She followed it with her gaze and looked at a girl sleeping under a tree. "Fina. Who is that?" she asked nervously. She loved eagles, her father loved them too, it was reminder of freedom to them both, and she told Fina so also. When the girl woke up, Verla decided to approach her kindly and slowly, not knowing what type of person she was. "You have a lovely eagle, Bates was it?" Verla asked her kindly.

She smiled at the eagle and wiped her eyes, so much for a good impression. This girl was different, and looked a bit older than her, and she noticed a tattoo on the girls arm. Verla smiled and showed the hidden serpent on her arm which symbolized protection. Then she showed another one on her other arm which meant to keep all evil and dark things away. Clearly it didn't do its job. She sat about four feet from the girl, though she made sure she could still hear her when she spoke. Oliver poked his head out from behind the back of her head and looked at them, then smiled and in a high cute voice said "hi!"
