It seemed that the young Hufflepuff girl Rosie Parker had found herself in the ballroom once again. She threw off her robe to wrap it around her neck like a cape. Under her robe wasa small white buttonup with the Hogwarts logo and a skirt. Small tapping noises could be heard as Rosie ran to the middle of the large room, spinning around in a circle. Giggles erupted from her small mouth as she finally came to a halt. Rosie turned around and looked up at the large ceiling, stumbling a little bit. She was very dizzy. This caused her to tumbled onto her back, she chuckled lightly anyway.

Rosie stared up at the ceiling, lost in her thoughts. She missed home, just a little bit. Rosie missed her parents, and their warm big hugs. But most of all, she still missed her grandma, who passed a year prior. That woman was the most important person in Rosie. Sure, she was loud and mad sometimes and it passed onto Rosie, but she had still loved her.

But she was very old, and very sick. She died peacefully, fortunately. Rosie sat by her bedside, she'd never forget that moment. The topic made Rosie sad, but she got out of it remembering she had a purpose, and it wasn't to sulk over her grandmother forever.

Kaegen moved into the room, his head stayed level as he walked. His every action was fluid, smooth. Or at least it was until he hit the floor. The ravenclaw boy didn't seem to do so well on the hardwood, and his footsteps were awkward. His eyes flashed around, looking at as many things as possible, as quickly as possible. They only settled on the girl for a brief moment before moving on, but nonetheless he moved closer to her and watched for a little. She had been spinning around happily until, apparently feeling dizzy, the girl fell to the ground. She seemed a bit sad, her eyes glazed over as she thought about something. Judging by how she looked, and how she held herself, she was probably upset but Kaegen wasn't entirely sure. Besides, he had misread people before, what would stop that same thing from happening again now? Nothing would stop it from happening again. However, this girl was interesting, and so Kaegen decided to investigate. His voice sounded like a whispery breeze, coming from a faraway place, and his eyes hardly settled on her while he talked.
"Are you upset?"
He hoped she was going to answer, let him know what interesting thing she had just been thinking about. The ability to read minds must be a pretty neat thing to have.

Rosie let out a short gasp when she heard an unfamiliar voice, turning to it. Her eyes looked the boy up and down, seeing if she could recognize him. Nope, she didn't. Rosie pushed herself up and dusted herself off, smiling a bit at the boy. Her smile was a bit strained, almost forced. But Rosie could pull it off, everyone who knew the small girl knew there was a smile on her face all the time. If it wasn't it'd probably be odd.

Despite this being someone new though, Rosie wasn't gonna lower her reputation. She was Rosie Parker! 1st Year Hufflepuff! Quidditch Team Chaser!!! With a shrug, Rosie finally replied, "Just thinking about my grandmother, she passed a year back. I miss her a bit." She wasn't scared to talk about it, it happened afterall. Rosie put her hands in her pockets and tried to ignore she looked silly using her robe as a cape, her scarf was loosely hanging off her shoulder. Rosie fixed her messy hair and made sure she looked presentable to the stranger who had decided to talk to her. Rosie had answered his question, and didn't expect him not to be shocked by her answer.

The girl let out a little gasp, she must not have seen him walk up. He hadn't exactly been trying to sneak up, so he couldn't decide if the girl had just not been paying attention, or if she had been paying attention and he had just been really quiet. The hard floor made him a lot more awkward than he normally was, though. So he couldn't imagine him being too quiet.
She had a smile, which meant she was happy. That much was obvious to the young ravenclaw. But what she said next confused him. her grandmother passed a year back? What did that even mean? Did she mean her grandmother died, or went back a year in time with some kind of spell, or passed by the doorway? She missed her a bit, apparently, so not very much. Which meant the grandmother either wasn't dead or this girl just didn't care very much about her. Either one made sense, in a way. But if she missed the grandmother at all then why didn't she not let her pass away? Luckily, Kaegen knew how to handle situations like this.
"Why didn't you save her?"
He had come to the conclusion that she meant dead. And if she meant dead that means something ate her grandmother. But it didn't really matter. It would be interesting to see why the girl didn't save her grandma. It could be an interesting story full of monsters or the fact that her grandmother didn't baker her the cookies she liked. Regardless of how interesting it was, he was going to hear it.

It was clear as glass Rosie was caught off guard by the boy's comment.
"Why didn't you save her?"
Her grin faded as she put on a confused expression, Rosie frowned a bit, tilting her head. "Pardon?" Was all she said, as if she thought she didn't hear him right. Rosie's posture slumped a little bit as she waited for him to say something. Rosie wasn't angry, she wasn't sad, but she was not jumping for job. She was confused and a little offended, but maybe she heard him wrong! It had to be that.
"Why didn't you save her?"
Rosie stood uncomfortably, she could feel tensity brewing in the ballroom, and it circled around the boy and Rosie like it was teasing them.
"Why didn't you save her?"
Her grandmother died peacefully because she was old, that's it. It was nobody's fault. It was life. It's how everything worked, Rosie knew that, even at a young age. It was naive to think otherwise. Rosie couldn't DO anything to "save" her grandmother. She couldn't go back in time, it's just. How. Life. Worked. Rosie could feel her chest start to bubble up. Confused... Almost, anger? Rosie couldn't assume anything yet.

The girl sunk into quiet contemplation, and then said 'pardon?' as if she didn't hear him. Sinking back into the quiet solitude of thoughts soon after. It was strange, he didn't normally talk this quietly. But she hadn't heard him walk up either, so maybe there is something behind the theory that she just didn't hear very well, that he hadn't been quiet, she just couldn't hear him. Trying again, this time louder and more audible, Kaegen decided to throw in some more words as well, to make himself more understandable. She probably needed the help. Why didn't she save her grandmother from being eaten or murdered? It wasn't that difficult to understand, was it? Was it that tough of a concept to grasp?
"Why didn't you stop her from dying? Were you just mad at her or something?"
There, that reply should work better than the first one. He prompted her to say more than just yes or no, to give kaegen more of the story, more of the details. He really didn't like talking this much, and having to try twice to get a decent answer had always annoyed him. But it didn't matter much, she seemed pretty nice. And besides as she herself said, she didn't miss her grandmother much.

Yep. Rosie definitely heard him right. Now she was annoyed. Her eyebrow twitched slightly as she put her hands on her waist, a pout forming when she poked her bottom lip out. It was evident that what the boy said had evidently set Rosie a bit off. "S-She was old, she died in her sleep. I-I loved her! I was never mad at her. She was the most wonderful grandmother in the world!" Rosie explained, sniffling a bit. This just made her more upset than she already was. She wasn't gonna let this... stranger, tell her what she did.

Sounded like Max.

God, Max. That unfortunate encounter happened a few days prior, where Max harassed her for literally just... Sitting on the grass, and Rosie was just a little mad. More than a little, some other girl was there too, putting her nose where it didn't belong. Rosie didn't like people like that. And she didn't like not liking people! But some people at Hogwarts just pushed her a little too far, even for a bubbly happy child like Rosie Parker. She wasn't angry, not yet anyway, just a little more confused and annoyed that he'd even say something like that.

She had died in her sleep? My gosh did she take a nap in the backyard? Who would do something like that? It didn't make hardly any sense, if this girl really did love her grandmother, you would think she would have watched over her, and stopped whatever horrible creature ate the poor old woman. Unless the creature only killed the old woman, and didn't eat her. That made some sense, the grandmother probably tasted like a kind of nasty meat jerky.
"She died in her sleep? Why weren't you there?"
This was just getting more confusing. If the grandmother was that awesome, then why had she said that she only missed her a little bit? Why then did she now say that her grandmother was the best? It just didn't add up, he had to be missing something, but for the life of him Kaegen couldn't tell what it was. The girl was pouting now, it looked kinda huffy, like she was upset about something. The young boy completely missed the hint, however. And assumed the girl was just regretting not being there for her grandmother. Maybe she had slept in late and forgot to go check and that's why she was sad?

"I was there, actually." Rosie snapped back, she could feel her fists clenching. The boy had definitely set something off in the young girl. She crossed her arms and furrowed her eyebrows, showing that she was indeed, not very happy. "She was very old, and she passed peacefully and with purpose!" Rosie yelled. "You have quite the nerve to be questioning my family." She picked up her scarf that had fallen from her shifting from foot to foot so much, and wrapped it around her neck. "Your presence is now making me uncomfortable and I think I'm going to leave! Unless you wanna say so-sorry for bringing up my grandma like that!" She walked up to the boy and poked his chest as she yelled the last thing she said, pouting.

Rosie didn't like yelling, but this boy just seemed to push her. He reminded her of someone else she knew, someone equally as rude and annoying. Maybe they were friends, she wouldn't have been surprised. What was clear, was that this boy did set the tiny girl off. She wasn't scary, that was for sure. But Rosie didn't think it was smart for people to mess with her, cause no one wanted to hear a child yelling for 20 minutes.

Oh, so she had died of old age, then. This whole transaction had been one huge misunderstanding. He had just completely misread the situation, nothing bad or anything. To err is human or something like that. The whole situation was so absurd to the young ravenclaw that he started to giggle, then laugh. His laugh was not the happy laughs of the other kids, it was not filled with life, or the memories of good times that made people's laughs sound full. Kaegen's laugh sounded more like the loud rusting of leaves, in a strong breeze. There really wasn't very much there. It was as if you took a laugh and stole it's loud, boisterous heart. It was a odd laugh, bizarre and a little bit uncomfortable, but it was unmistakably a laugh, that was directed at the misunderstanding, but for all the world it seemed to be directed straight at the girl. He kept up that laugh until the girl poked him. He tried to slow down his laughing, tried to see what the girl was poking him for, but he was too caught up and out of breath. He started calming down rather soon, his gasps for breath surprisingly silent.
Was she poking him because she thought it was funny too? Or was she upset? Or did she just want to say something?
