Cosmo's eyes went wide, she definitely should have realised that this was Simon, I mean of course he was going to be at Haley's birthday, and there weren't any other boys here. She quickly recovered herself, and smiled hugely at him.

"Simon! The Simon! I can't believe I'm finally meeting you, Haley has told me so much!" It was possible that Cosmo was a little over enthused to finally be meeting her friend's boyfriend, but she didn't care all that much. It had been months and months, and now she finally got to see the boy Haley gushed about all the time.

Haley came over at that point and Cosmo watched as she and Simon talked, feeling a slightly unusual excitement bubbling in her chest. It was nice to watch Haley be happy and in love, and she was already getting good vibes from Simon. When he raised his drink Cosmo hurriedly grabbed a lemonade to join in the toast. "To Haley! May the next year be as sweet as you," she grinned, winking briefly to Haley before taking a drink.

Haley's famous puppy dog eyes turned to Cosmo and she felt her heart melt a little. "Don't be silly, I'm just glad I get to finally see you and Simon being cute," she told the birthday girl. It had been a long time in the coming, but getting to see them together was worth the wait. Cosmo turned back to Simon with another grin, "but yeah! I'm Cosmo, Gryffindor first year just like our Haley."

Haley smiled warmly at her friends as they toasted her birthday and this beautiful day. She was more than happy that they could spend this day together. She took a sip from her cup and looked over the round, quickly the first conversations had developed and it seemed as if everyone would get along well with each other. She was especially happy that Cosmo and Simon were finally getting to know each other as well, after all they both played a bigger role in her life here at Hogwarts.

Haley walked over to the table and grabbed one of the sandwiches that were there and took a bite. With all the excitement she hadn't even noticed that she was totally hungry. As she took the last few bites with relish, her eyes fell on Cedrella and with a chewy smile she walked towards her. She quickly gulped the last bites all down, patted her hands on her body and joined the Ravenclaw girl.

She was sure Cedrella must have wondered about her invitation but Haley was honestly happy to have her here. "Cedrella, how are you?" she opened the conversation with her open-hearted manner, leading the girl with her to one of the picnic blankets and offering to sit with her.

Haley sat down cross-legged and tapped the empty seat next to her as an invitation. She would wait for Cedrella to join her. "It's been a while, but tell me how have you been? How is your time at Hogwarts? What great things have you experienced?" She had a thousand questions and was dying to know how she had been lately. She had to force herself not to ask more questions and let her have a chance to answer as well.

As time passed she thought about what she could do to help everyone get to know each other a little better and suddenly she had to think back to the day she met Cosmo. 2 Truths 1 Lie would be the perfect idea and surely it could be played in a group. She turned around and looked at Cosmo, who was talking to Simon.

"Hey Cosmo. What do you think about a round of 2 Truths 1 Lie?" She winked at her friend and began to grin.

Lavinia was so happy that she had come out of her dorm because it was such a a nice day outside. It was sunny and Haley had put together such a nice gathering for the group. She learned that the brunette who she had briefly tried to make conversation with was named Elena. That was pretty name and Lavinia made sure to remember it so that introductions wouldn’t be needed again. She was right in her assumption that they were a third year and like the toast idea. After the young girl (Cosmo) gave her toast, Lavinia grabbed a drink and gave a little one. “To Haley, who always knows exactly what to say.”

Now the time to drink it and as much as she didn’t want to be, Lavinia was a tad bit weary of the drink. Of course Haley wouldn’t poison them or anything like what happened at the ball but, Lavinia just wasn’t a fan of many drinks anymore. Trying to push her worries aside, Lavinia took a sip of her drink and was pleased that nothing happened to her after the fact. Looking around at the attendees, Lavinia noticed one who she recognized. She believed that his name was Simon and definitely remembered him from the ball.

Walking over to him, she didn’t really want to bring up the events of that day but was definitely wondering how Haley and his friendship were now. Upon reaching Simon she decided to introduce herself for real this time. “Simon is it… I remember you a little bit from the ball. I’m not sure if you remember me but I’m Lavinia.” He might not have known that they met before if she didn’t mention the ball. It was just a touch on it though because she didn’t really want to bring up that wedding she couldn’t stop.

Then Haley turned in their direction and asked someone named Cosmo something. Lavinia hadn’t noticed the girl until now and was shocked that she didn’t. Smiling at the idea Haley said to Cosmo. Lavinia thought what a great idea two truths and a lie would be. Only Haley really knew her here so this would be a challenge as well as a fun activity.

"... OH, IT'S BEEN OK, I suppose," mumbled Cedrella, pressing her hands together, as she smiled to Haley. "I don't do a lot, so... not a lot of things to share, hah..." She let out a small laugh, weak and strangled, along with a shrug. Like she did not care. The girl looked around, at the others around her. "I guess the most unusual thing that happened was helping a girl find her missing bracelet in the common room, but other than that, just... classes, and... yeah,"

It was no surprise to people around her that Cedrella enjoyed her routine. She liked to follow patterns and know what to expect; it gave her a sense of control and security (which was the main reason her brothers laughed when father said she'd end up in Gryffindor). However, it'd be nice to let go of all that for a while. Just for today. If it meant she got to enjoy this free time trying to do something fun, for once in her life.

Cedrella bit her lower lip, "So, I'm good. How are you? Did you plan this all on your own? It looks really nice and cozy. I spent my birthday all by myself in the Ravenclaw tower,"

She was pleased to see that everyone followed suit with the toast that Elena had initated raising their glasses to the birthday girl offering some generous remarks of their own before downing the contents of the glass. It felt right at the moment and Merlin knew Haley well-deserved it. It was celebrations like this that the brunette felt easygoing and open, nothing too grandoise yet at the same time, it wasn't too crowded and in her eyes, that was just perfect. They had just the right amount of people here, a few close friends to celebrate the moment with instead of advertising it to the whole wide world and yet the Gryffindor girl felt honored she'd thought of Elena when handing out those invitations but it was defintely worth it if not evidenced by the pleasant chatter and food and drink. Draining her cup, the girl set it down on the grass as her ear caught snippets of what Haley and one of the other girls were talking about.

Elena could have sworn she had heard someone propose something about two truths and a lie, a game that in her opinion was perfect for getting to know each other better because after all, they all shared the mutual connection in the sense they were all Haley's friend and it only went to make sense that they should at least establish some sort of connection beyond a first-name basis. "That doesn't sound like such a bad idea if everyone's up for it." Elena would offer her contribution eyes flicking back and forth. The Gryffindor could come up with some pretty neat answers and if anything, it seemed like the perfect party game for something like this. Truthfully, she had been hoping for someone to bring up such an idea and they had as the girl refilled her cup swirling the contents around a bit.

As she looked around, a sudden realization came to her that the previous birthdays she had attended had been in the same premise in the outside enviornment, funny how that had somehow developed into a trend. The brunette wasn't complaining though, the feels of the outside certainly added a welcome aspect as compared to the stuffy halls of the castle, defintely a prime location if you asked her.

Nostalgia flooded through Cosmo as she settled down to play two truths and a lie with these new people. It seemed an age ago that she and Haley had done the same thing, in the same place, and now the two girls were closer than Cosmo ever could have imagined. The young gryffindor looked at everyone who was gathered together, perhaps after today the same thing might happen with them.

Simon spoke and Cosmo grinned, excited to learn some more about him. She shuffled herself around so that she was in position to form a circle, hoping everyone else might do the same, and listened as Haley's boyfriend took his turn. It made sense to Cosmo that he would be able to play instruments, she knew that Haley could play piano and it was common for people with similar interests to like one another. However, a teenage boy admitting to being afraid of anything -particularly the dark- seemed entirely improbable, besides, just looking at Simon you could see his appreciation for dark places. He was wearing a hoodie in the sun for goodness sake! Which incidentally was something that Cosmo had wondered about, but decided not to mention lest it make him uncomfortable. The third option would have been her go to, who didn't like sweets? Except earlier he had specifically only wanted to drink water, which indicated he may be telling the truth.

"Is your lie... that you're afraid of the dark?" she asked hesitantly. Once Simon answered Cosmo, she turned and faced Haley with a wide smile and a wink. "Alright my dear, I'm going to have to think hard now, you already know so much about me."

There really wasn't much that Cosmo hadn't told her best friend, and she racked her brains for a few minutes before she could drag up anything from the depths of her memory. "Okay... I think I have them. When I was four my grandmother kidnapped me for the day. It wasn't scary or anything but mum had no idea where I was, and grandma wouldn't answer the phone." This was true, and Haley knew enough of Cosmo's family to recognise this as very on brand for her grandmother.

"I once helped to amputate someone's leg, I didn't do any of the hard stuff of course but I handed mum the tools," this was also true and a slight grimace showed on Cosmo's features. Although she was glad of how much trust was placed in her, sometimes there were things that no child should do. Now the lie was left, and realising that both first statements were slightly off putting, Cosmo wanted to choose something with an uplifting note.

"Lastly, I once won a medal for being in the fastest dragon boat on our river." She had wanted to be in it at least, but apparently she was too young, so instead she ran alongside the river on footpaths. It was quite possible that Haley and the others hadn't heard of dragon boat racing, what with it being a muggle sport, but Cosmo hadn't considered this.

Haley listened intently to Cedrella's words and was sorry she had spent her birthday alone. "Let me know next time it's your birthday and I'll be happy to spend it with you." Haley offered her with a smile but wasn't sure if Cedrella did prefer to spend her birthday alone. "But yes, I had some help from the house elves." Haley explained as she glanced around once.

Haley was glad that everyone seemed to agree with her proposal and the group gathered in a large circle on the picnic blankets. It wasn't long before Simon took the first chance and started telling two truths and a lie. Haley knew Simon well and could immediately spot his lie but it wasn't her move, it was that of her best friend. She looked at her eagerly, waiting for her answer. Would she guess correctly? Yes, she did and Haley winked at her to give her a sign that she was right.

Haley grinned broadly as Cosmo turned to her, this was really going to be a tough round now and she already suspected Cosmo wasn't going to make it easy for her. "Please go easy." She playfully pleaded with her best friend but there was no mercy for the birthday girl either.

A laugh escaped Haley at the first statement before she slapped her hand over her mouth. "Sorry, but that sounds exactly like your grandmother." Haley admitted and let Cosmo continue talking. Unfortunately, Haley had never met her, but Cosmo had told her a lot about her. The other two were already more difficult and Haley had to ponder. "So, I really wish that second one was your lie." She started to speak and looked at Cosmo with a raised eyebrow. "But knowing you, it's true in the end. Still, I'll take my chances and say it's a lie. Please tell me it's not true." Giggling now, she would soon learn more about her best friend.

Now it was Haley's turn and she thought for a moment. "Lavinia, will you know my lie?" she asked her friend before sitting up straight and giving her the three options. "My mother taught me to play the piano when I was a little child." Lie, she was sure Simon and Cosmo would know that but she couldn't remember if she had ever told Lavinia, but it had actually been her father who had taught her. "When I was four I punched a boy so hard in the nose that he started bleeding." Although some might not give young Haley credit for that, it was the truth. It was on St. Patrick's day that her kindergarten boyfriend Tom tried to kiss her. He shouted to her "Kiss me, I'm Irish." But Haley ran and ran, but he wouldn't let up. Poor Tom wanted his kiss and in the end Haley had fought back with a quick hit. "I can dance an Irish jig." Was now the last statement and that too was the truth. She shrugged her shoulders and looked at Lavinia, hoping she hadn't made it too hard or too easy. Few knew that Haley was from Ireland, at least she didn't talk about it to many, for each time her heart ached a little for her old home.

Lavinia was honestly just glad to be here and have the opportunity to wish Haley a happy birthday. They had all moved into a circle with their picnic blankets to play Two truths and a Lie. She hadn’t ever met most of these people before and was concerned that she would not do good at the game. Her only hope was to not make too much of a fool of herself in front of Haley’s friends.

Simon went first and she had no idea which one it was. Fortunately, the young girl named Cosmo answered allowing Lavinia to not stress out too much. As Cosmo gave her 3 to Haley, Lavinia started to think hard about what she was going to do. Also, Cosmo’s life sounded so interesting and the caused Lavinia to worry that her 3 things wouldn’t be enough. Then again, she realized that it’s just a party and there is no need to worry since everyone seemed pretty nice.

Once Haley answered Cosmo and turned to Lavinia, she tried to focus on dissecting the lie from the truths. The first option given sounded true in her eyes, it was nothing too crazy and Lavinia could easily see that happening. The second though was very fishy. The Haley Lavinia knew was super nice and would never hurt someone even if they were just 4. The last one also seemed true and hoping she made the right choice, Lavinia gave her answer. “Hmmm… I honestly only see one of them as a lie. There is no way that you could have punched a kid, you’re way too nice to do that.”

She was just being genuine, her newer friend had never been rude to her and was a very pure heart. Taking the opportunity to go through her 3 one last time in her brain, Lavinia gave it a go. “Okay then.. I guess I’ll go… For whoever wants to answer, my three are… I used to attend muggle school, I have lit my homework on fire in the past, and I have been to detention.”

The first one was a truth, when her family believed that she was a squid, she was sent to muggle school to see if she could fit in there. The second one happened to also be a truth, her first instance of Magic had actually been her lighting her muggle homework on fire. She had just followed the regular format of two truths and then one lie, so the last one was a lie. She had yet to be to detention, that could always change sometime soon though. Now all Lavinia had to do was to wait and see if anyone could get it right.
