Unexpected help.
She needed to return the book. It had been a week since she borrowed the book on magical creatures but there seemed to be no break in the flow of students in the library. If it had just been a run in, run out situation she wouldn’t have minded it so much and would’ve put up with her chest feeling like it was going to collapse, but it wasn’t something like that. She wanted another book, something else to feed her knowledge hungry mind over the next few days at the least. Yet, of course with her luck it seemed she wouldn’t be able to do that.Dakota reached forward to open the library door, her mind racing, but pulled her hand back. Her mouth felt dry, her breathing already quickening with just the thought of stepping foot into there. She could’ve asked Henry to return the book for her, her friend that had promised he’d help her, but she didn’t want to bug him today and quite frankly she wasn’t sure if she should even ask him right now. It was a simple task but she didn’t want to feel like she was bothering her friends. She pondered as she tottered on her heels, her thoughts no longer there and making it quite easy for someone to approach Dakota unnoticed.@ Arden Doherty

Arden had slipped out of his robes and nicer cloths and into his casual wear. today it was a pair and jeans, a green and yellow Kenmare Kestrals shirt and his forest green long coat. his hair was still tied back into a loose ponytail from when he was in flying earlier, and over his shoulder was his messenger bag.
He was making his way to the library for a pretty simple reason. Books. You could be forgiven for mistaking the lion for a ravenclaw with as much reading as he did. But could you blame him? a little over a year ago he had no idea magic was even a thing, now suddenly there is an entire world he never knew existed. Its not like he could google these things once he got home, so he needed to take full advantage of the time he had here at the school, and all the books they had. speaking of which...he needed to look into making his way into the restricted section. Surely there were some juicy books there.
As he neared the library he was snapped out of his thoughts when he saw another student agonizing over...something. He saw them go to enter a dozen times before stopping themselves. Arden crossed his arms and smirked as he leaned against the wall at watched them, silently urging them on to work up the courage to enter, but alas it didnt seem to do any good. Finally he had seen enough and decided to go over a hand.
"Now I know Librarians can be scary, but im fairly certain you wont get fed to the lake squid over an overdue book" his Irish accent was unmistakable. Arden was a little proud that he got to drop the fact he knew about the giant squid in the lake, which he wasn't sure he believed in but hey. He read it in a book, had to be true....right?
"You Good?" This was said a little more sincerely than his previous statement, and a warm half smile sat resting on his face as he looked at the other student

Unexpected help.
Dakota flinched at the sound of another voice, turning her head she blinked her crystal blue eyes at the boy, her shirt golden-brown hair brushing along her shoulders. Her mind raced now, had she been blocking his entry, was he upset at her for something? Slowly stepping back she gripped the book against herself and sucked in a breath “sorry..it’s not the library or librarian I’m afraid of.” pausing, she bit her lip. She wasn’t sure if this boy was interested in listening to her worries or phobia. She sighed, deciding it wouldn’t hurt to explain it to him ”its claustrophobia, I’m claustrophobic and there’s so many students and tight spaces in there..” trailing off her mouth felt dry again as her thoughts were brought to the idea of going into the library.Swallowing, she looked back at him, showing the book “I wanted to return my book, but like I said before..claustrophobia.” her voice was like what honey would sound like, soft and sweet. Was there a possibility she was telling this to the wrong person? Yes, there was, but for now she supposed she should put a bit of trust into him. Pulling the book back against her chest she sighed “was I blocking your way? I apologize if i was.” back to apologizing, she shifted her feet. The amusement she had at his words moments before now seeming to be gone.@ Arden Doherty

Arden cocked an eyebrow as the girl talked. she was obviously nervous and shy. Not issues he had ever dealt with. let alone claustrophobia. Since he was young Arden had been around alot of people, and the muggle school he went to when he was younger was pretty packed, plus when he played sports dog piles happened every now and then. Sure they say two hand touch, but you think a bunch of rowdy kids are going to listen to that?
He blinked himself back to the moment at hand and from the girl to her book and over to the doors to the library, and he smirked to himself. "Alright how about this. you tell me what book you want. Ill go drop this off, grab your new book and bring it back to you. no fuss no muss." Arden adjusted the strap of his messenger back and tried to look friendly as he could
He offers a shrug "Though if the librarian ends up deciding to feed me to the lake squid in your place, Ill be a little cross with you. just saying" he offers a wink at the end of his dry statement and grinned alittle to hopefully get across that he was just placing around, before holding out his hand for her book.

A small smile spread across her lips, her blue eyes seeming to shine with amusement at Ardens words. She was still a bit uncertain, not wanting to bug Arden more than she already has as that was the reason she didn’t just ask her friend. Running a hand along the books covering she lets out a soft sigh and placing it into his hand before speaking “the other book I wanted should be called Dreadful Denizens of the Deep.” another book on magical creatures, not a surprise for anyone who knew the young hufflepuff.Giving another smile, this one warm and soft, she lets out a sigh “thank you..” raising a eyebrow she blinks “what’s your name? I’m Dakota Olson.” she wanted to be able to thank the boy properly. She wondered silently if he would want anything in return, if this would require a favor for something. She tucked her arms against her waist as she listened to the sounds around her, trying to push a few more fresh things out of her mind. She was thankful to the boy, help didn’t come her way often when she was younger and so this was a bit more new to her.@Arden Doherty

Arden smiled a bit as he saw the girl start to loosen up and get less nervous. not completely out of the woods yet, but she was definitely making her there at the very least. The book she wanted did absolutely catch his interest that's for sure. Dreadful Denizens of the deep. Did it mean stuff from the ocean? or maybe some things under ground. or maybe some other magical thing he doesn't even know about yet. He was probably going to have to get himself a copy of the book.
He drummed his fingers on the book he had taken from Dakota to go turn in as she introduced herself. He nodded towards her and placed his free hand on his chest "Doherty. Arden Doherty. Pleasure to meet ya" and with a nod he turned to head into the library.
the trip itself didn't take too long. He walked in, slapped a fellow lion on the back. Waved at a few people. then made his way to the Librarians desk. Arden handed over the book, explained who it was checked out for then made his way into the shelves until he tracked down the book he was looking for. After making it back to the librarian to check the book out he offered a wave good bye before making his way back outside.
"One copy of dreadful denizens of the deep. That'll be 20 bucks" and he offered a playful wink as he handed the book over

Dakota snorted lightly from laughing, shaking her head softly. Amusement ran through her mind now, she did seem much more relaxed than when he had originally came up which was a start for the anxious Hufflepuff. Dakota tucked the book against herself, as if she were protecting the book, one hand placed on the top right corner and the other gripping the spine of it. Her blue eyed gaze had rested back on Arden, smiling warmly at him as she began to speak “ah, thank you Arden, sorry if I troubled you.”. Dakota seemed much more relaxed, seeming to be slowly calming down and she didn’t have to face the Library today.Dakota blinked at Arden, seeming to be thinking about something and be zoning in and out of where she is. Sucking in a breath she raised a eyebrow lightly “but, is there anything I can do to repay you?” asking this question she was soft. Usually, when someone did something for Dakota they received something that was considered thanks, be it baked goods, a drawing or something Dakota could do for the person. Of course, she knew what she was capable of and what she couldn’t do which was a good thing.@Arden Doherty
