Are you alright?
Dakota blinked down at the book and raised a eyebrow at it, taking it into her palms and flipping through a few of the pages as her blue eyes skimmed them. It seemed something she could sit down and read, if not, no harm done and she could just return it. Smiling at Lance she nodded, pulling the book against herself “sure, thank you.” she had placed her hand along the spine of the book and the top corner, seeming to be a protective hold. She was still a bit uncertain about Lance but wanted to give him a chance and see.Dakota was small compared to Lance, standing at 4’11 and barely a hundred pounds though she looked like she could be a bit underweight. She also made herself look smaller in a lot of situations, bundling against herself and pressing against walls. Pausing, she bit her lip “is there anyway I could make it up to you?” saying this, it could be guessed she meant making up the fact that she ran into him, even if it had been a accident he still deserved apologizes and possibly even something in return. Waiting, she rubbed her thumb along the spine of the book, something she did when she was anxious.@Lance Palmer

Are you alright?
Lance blinked blankly at Dakota and squinted his eyes confused. "Make it up to me? It was only an accident I don't mind, if anything I should be making it up to you!" He spun his wand around in his hand while talking and pretended to do spells. Lance, guilt lifted off his shoulders about the incident was still going to take accountability for what had happened, even if he had been forgiven.
Lance fixed his hair as the wind blew. Something about the wind calms him, yet annoys him at the same time as it messes up his hair. He spread out his arms and faced the wind, enjoying the relaxation and fresh air that he so desperately needed. Lance had been stressed for the past couple of days, and nothing more than fresh air blowing softly onto his face, and his arms would've relaxed him.
"You know, you're really good at skating, I've seen you skate a few times. Well besides the crashes.." Lance would laugh softly, thinking of how his mother had attempted to teach him how to skate. Of course, that didn't work out well, he can barely figure out how to put skates on properly. He looked at his watch, seeing as it neared 6:00. This reminded him of the 8pm ridiculous curfew to be in the Common Room.

Are you alright?
Dakota laughed softly, her blue eyed gaze still resting on Lance “no worries.” she still felt bad but she supposed that he wouldn’t allow her to make it up to him. Hearing the next thing Dakota raised a eyebrow, seeming thankful but also a bit amused ”thank you.” pausing, she tilted her head. It was more of a joke than a actually offer the next thing she said, “are you trying to ask me to teach you?” another light smile was forming along her lips as she spoke. Of course she didn’t expect anything to actually come of it.She brushed the dirt off her shirt finally with a sweeping motion of her hand. She frowned, she hadn’t been expecting another crash, then again she wasn’t expecting to meet somebody today. Tapping her fingers against the cover of the book she peered softly at Lance, feeling quite better now. Sighing, she looked around them, examining the courtyard now and the on-lookers, all sorrow forgotten just a bit of guilt still lingering in her heart. Sure, Lance may not be the greatest friend for such a gentle soul, but then again she could help balance his temper with softness through their friendship.@Lance Palmer

Lance laughed at the joke. "Ah, thanks but I'm afraid all hope is lost for skating within me, my mother tried to teach me, and believe me.. it did not go well." Lance laughed, remembering the times he crashed and stained some of his best clothes, even spraining his ankle one time. No matter how much he tried, he never really got a hold of skating and eventually just accepted that he was no good at it.
He saw Dakota looking around, so he turned his head. Many people were still looking at them, even though there was nothing to see. Lance was quite annoyed with people not minding their business but decided to leave it be for now. Even though it was windy, it was humid outside. The sun was beating down on Lance's face, he reached in his bag and pulled out a cap. Lance put the cap on to prevent the sun from burning his face or shining in his eyes.
Lance was grateful to have Dakota as a friend and has taught him many things already. He hadn't met anybody as kind as her except his mother who was almost always working. He truly believed that this friendship would help him in ways that he obviously needed.

Are you alright?
Dakota let out a gentle laugh hearing what Lance had said, shaking her head lightly “it’s funny because I use to be terrible at skating..” holding up her right hand she sighed “sprained my wrist once after throwing my hands out in front of me.” years of practice had gone into skating for Dakota. It was something she loved doing, alongside playing ukulele and spending time with her friends. Now, it was only amusing to think about as it was past pain and something she had quickly learned to not do. She couldn’t help but enjoy the memories now, resulting in days and nights spent with her family, trying to help her.Keeping still was something she had to learn to do while standing in skates. Normally, she would be shifting around, unable to sit still. It was something she struggled with, but now, with something to focus on she was able to stay still. Well, two things to focus on, a person and trying to make sure she didn’t bust her butt again. Being careful and elegant was not her specialty and it was clear with how many crashes she can have and the fact that I can barely walk without tripping over something. it was shocking for her family to learn that she could skate and quite well too. She let out a bit of a laugh before realizing what she was doing.@Lance Palmer

Lance let out a laugh. He used to love learning how to skate but injuring himself wasn't what he intended to do. He'd rather lose the thought of learning something rather than risk some injuries because of it. After Lance gave up skating, he had to find other things to do to fill his time. Reading became one of his major hobbies after his mom had introduced him to the Daily Prophet.
"Maybe when I go home this summer I can ask my mom to take me to some actual skating lessons again." Lance enjoyed skating but always did it on his own. Maybe with some proper lessons, he could learn the right way without injuring himself that bad. Lance didn't expect to have this type of conversation today. He was just peacefully reading when it all happened, though he wasn't complaining.
Lance had forgotten his liking of skating and it was always good to be reminded of some happy memories, even if they were long ago. Lance had zoned out, remembering all of the memories with his mother, even though she was busy. When Lance zoned back in he realized the girl had zoned out too, so he twirled his wand in the air while he watched the girl somehow keep her balance.

Are you alright?
Dakota nodded lightly at his words, smiling sweetly at him “im sure you and her will need all the luck.” a joking tone rang in her voice. She still had quite a gentle gaze as she spoke, something she was good at keeping. After a few moments she sighed and glided gently along her skates over to the fountain, now that she was paying attention it was easier to stop and sit down on the edge of the fountain. Untying the skates she set them to the side and grabbed a pair of sandals that had been resting beside the fountain, pulling the sandals on in place and picking up her skates.Setting the book Lance had given to her in her lap she placed the skates between her feet and looked back at him. She seemed much more comfortable now that she didn’t have to focus on balance. Raising a eyebrow she seems to have processed what he said “so your mom knows how to skate?” her American accent sounds in this scent, overpowering the small Scottish accent she does have. Placing her arms along the book she keeps her blue eyed gaze on Lance, there being room to sit by her if he’d like.@Lance Palmer
