Oh yeah… James hadn’t thought of that. He really did not want to be seen outside with a tail and fox ears. Maybe this is how Ebony feels, James thought.
“Ohh…” James moaned in frustration, putting his hands on his head in distress. He pulled them down quickly as he was reminded of the fox ears that were already there. “Hats don’t look very good on me.” James admitted honestly. “A hood would be better, honestly. And one of those might be easier to find…” Not for James, though, because he almost never wore hoods.
“And for this…” James said, lifting up his tail in one hand, and blushing again as he did it. “Hmm…” he mused.
His mind ran at super speed, thinking very fast. That was one good thing about his big imagination.
“Is it raining outside?” James asked. “Actually, there’s a bath in there.” he said, pointing to another door in the room. James then launched into an explanation of what he was thinking. We’ll call over a housekeeper, ordering a towel, and then once we have it, I’ll go jump in the shower with my clothes on. Then, we can walk up to the castle with the towel wrapped around me, using the fact that I’m soaking wet as an excuse. We’ll say I fell into the lake or something. The towel will hide my ears and hopefully my tail too. What do you think?” James said in a rush.

James had another idea, maybe a bit out of the box, but a idea. And it was better than hers seeing that the towel could cover his ears and his tail. "I think we should go with that idea. It's better than mine anyway." She answered truthfully, shrugging her shoulders. Ebony quickly pulled out her wand. She closed her eyes in concentration then summoned a towel and one plopped on the bed. They didn't need a housekeeper. Anyways the housekeeper might be suspicious because if two kids needed a towel it probably means they made a big mess. They did not need someone poking around in their business right now. Ebony grabbed the towel and handed the item to James, explaining to him why calling a housekeeper to James might not be a good idea, seeing they might get in trouble for performing 'reckless' spells like this anyway. "Well, let's hope this works." Ebony said. Then she added jokingly, "I hope those clothes aren't super important." Ebony used humor in times where it was stressful or it had risks. It seemed to calm people down and the situation would continue without the added pressure from the worrying person. Even though she tried to stop this habit because people started saying she was annoying she couldn't. Old habits die hard. Now then, time to start stage one.
Don't lose hope even when everything is at its lowest.

"I think we should go with that idea. It's better than mine anyway." Ebony said. She conjured up a towel out of mid-air, and James caught himself flinching for a split-second. Now that he thought about it, he might never feel the same around magic ever again after this whole incident.
Ebony explained that they didn't need a housekeeper to come, and James nodded to her his agreement.
"Well, let's hope this works... I hope those clothes aren't super important." Ebony joked.
James laughed and gestured to his shirt.
"Eh, they'll be fine..." he said.
James accepted the towel and turned on his heel to enter into the room's bathroom. He opened and shut the door behind him, turning on the light as he did so. The bathroom was small, but thankfully, he had been right about there being a shower. He wasn't going to admit to Ebony that he had only been guessing about there being a shower. James sighed and turned on the water. He dropped the towel on the counter for the sink, and stepped in the tub. The water was too cold still.
Immediately, James jerked back with a yelp of surprise, that sounded almost identical to the yip of a fox. James slapped a hand over his mouth, and looked towards the closed door.
"It's nothing!" he shouted through the closed door, knowing that he would sound muffled to Ebony. "Just cold!"
James turned back to the water and gave a little shiver at the feeling of cold on his leg, and also the feeling of surprise at his fox-sounding shout.
James tested the water with his hand until it was warm, and then stepped in, pulling the curtain closed, not for privacy, but for keeping the water in, seeing as he was still wearing all of his clothes. His clothes took a few moments to set with the water that was soaking right through them. Soon enough, they were plastered down onto his skin, and were sagging with the weight of the water they had soaked up. James leaned his head back, letting the water soak through his hair and over his ears. He reached up with his hands to move his hair around and rub it to get it all soaking wet. His fingers had to move around the ears to do this, though, which made him even more conscious of them, and he blushed lightly. As his fingers moved around his ears, he found that it felt really good to scratch behind them. He did so for a few seconds, but then stopped, realizing what he was doing. He shook of that feeling of contentment that had been there, and finished up getting all soaking wet. He turned off the water and stepped out of the shower, looking into the mirror. He looked like he had fallen into the lake or been out in the rain, but his tail was truly a sad sight, it being all wet and droopy. James picked up the towel, realizing that by getting his tail wet, it would probably droop lower from the weight of the water, and possibly show from under the towel. He really hoped this wouldn't mess everything up, and wrapped the towel around him, flattening his wet ears against his skull. He looked in the mirror again, to check if anything showed. He couldn't see his tail, but he found that his ears laid down cooperatively, and only if one looked very close and knew what they were looking at could they tell that they were underneath the shelter of the towel.
James shook some water off of his legs, sending water droplets all over the tile floor, and then stepped back out to where Ebony was.
He turned around once for Ebony, and then asked, "Is anything showing?"
Secretly, James was afraid he knew the answer for this. He could feel his wet tail against his lower legs that were not covered up with the towel. Maybe they could figure something else out to keep the tail up and under the cover of the towel...

James stepped out of the bathroom, and it really did look like he fell into a lake. For the most part, the towel did it's job, keeping Jane's ears hidden. But with the tail....not so much. James and Ebony didnt think about the tail being weighed down by the water. So now they had the challenge to fix this. Silly and dumb ideas came to Ebonys mind. Pin his tail up? What am I thinking? He's not roadkill! Glue his tail up? Yay! We have the mind of a seven-year-old! Ebony wasn't at all considering these options. She knew full well that they would never work. They were just random thoughts that crossed her head. Maybe they could dry James tail? Just his tail. Nobody would see that his tail is dry because they wouldn't see his tail to begin with. And when they get to Proffeser Lear the disguise wouldn't matter anymore. Ebony paced around the room, a habit she had. Ebony quickly threw the idea out of her head. It sounded really dumb and she would not ever say anything like that outloud. She had no idea. She was stumped. Ebony then realized that she didn't answer James question. "Oh. Your tail is showing a bit. Have any ideas?" She asked hopefully. Maybe James tail moved with his emotions so if he's felling a certain emotion his tail would move? Ebony continued pacing and stopped her train of thought. It's James tail after all. He probally had a idea.

"Oh. Your tail is showing a bit. Have any ideas?" Ebony said after a moment.
James inwardly groaned. No, he didn't really have any ideas. Well, this whole thing they were doing right now was his idea, but maybe he was just all "idea-ed" out.
James looked behind him, and saw his tail just a moment before it whisked away and out of sight with him turning around.
"Ugh.." James whined. He took a deep breath and tried to put his thinking cap back on. The only thing he could think of was to hold it up underneath the towel or something. Why did this have to be so hard!?
"Okay, I think the best and maybe the only thing we can do is just keep it held up underneath the towel." James said. He twisted on of his arms behind his back underneath the towel and managed to grab a hold of his tail and bring his hand back up to where it was in front of him, but still underneath the folds of the towel. Now his tail was hidden. All he had to do was not let go or let the end of his wet tail slip out of his hand.
"Aright, now I've got it." James said. He was about to say 'Let's go!' or 'We ready?', but then he was reminded of the fact that he was saying us and we.
"Hey, Ebony?" he said to her, "Thanks a lot for helping me."

James got a hold of his tail and managed to look normal-ish. Well, if normal was soaking wet wrapped in a towel, than yes he was normal. Ebony was so lost in la la land she almost didn't hear what James was saying. "Oh, no promblem. That's what friends are for." Then she kinda slipped up. "I could go with you to see Proffeser Lear. If you don't want me too, that fine. I just barely talked to him and it's partly my fault that you have ears and a tail. If you don't want me to come just say so. I was probally going to leave sooner or later anyway. So....yeah." Ebony was rambling like a lunatic, complete with the arm geusture. She didnt want James to think she was clingy. She just didn't want to say bye to the first person she could call a friend here just yet. Ebony walked over to her discarded umbrella and picked it up. It was a fairly new one. She got one every year, considering the fact she took it everywhere she went. She grabbed it and slightly opened it, so she could still walk indoors with it but as soon as she got outside she could quickly open it fully. She walked over to the doorway then she turned to James, waiting for him to answer.

James looked at her for a moment as if he thought she was insane.
"What!?" he asked, confused as to why she would think any of those things, "Yeah, I want you to go with me! And it's not your fault that I have ears and a tail." James blushed as he mentioned that last part about his ears and tail out loud, and then blushed some more as he realized the first thing he had said as well.
"I mean, of course, if you want to come." James tried again, quieter this time, "Like, I won't make you come with me or anything..." he trailed off. He didn't want Ebony to think he was clingy. But at the same time, he didn't want to be walking around all self conscious about his ears and tail by himself. He kinda wanted Ebony to be there... especially if, by chance, James ran into anybody else while trying to get to Professor Lear. James new he had a ways to go, because he was currently in the Leaky Cauldron with Ebony.
"So... you coming?" James finished awkwardly.

"Of course!" Ebony replied, jumping up and down. Then she realized she was acting was too excited and she stopped jumping and cleared her throat before answering again. "I mean, of course." She said in a much calmer tone, composing herself. Ebony blushed a bit at her sudden enthusiasm.
Yay! Off to an adventure!
What are you, five years old?
If I'm five years old than your five years old. We're the same person dummy.
Oh yeah..,
Ebony quickly ran over to the window and checked the sky. It was a bright, sunny day without a cloud in sight. "Oh great..." She mumbled before adding "Well, I'm going to have to deal with it..." When she turned around, James was standing at the door, ready to leave. Ebony quickly walked over to the doorway and into the hall, where they could slightly hear the talking of the people in the Leaky Cauldron. Ebony quickly wondered if the people there would be suspicious of James soaking wet. They probally would, but then again they would mind there own business. Most of the people there really don't care that much so she wasn't that worried. And if any of them asked she and James would just rush out the place as fast as they can. Ebony started walking down the hall, her umbrella clutched in own hand and James walking right beside her. Well, here goes nothing...
