@Piper Clark───────────────────────────Today was a great day to make friends.
Said Everly, who forgot her textbook. Miraculously Everly had ended up in one of the many classrooms at Hogwarts, trying to figure out where she had left that annoying book. Spending too much time in such a drastic place could take a great toll on her health and grades, Everly was aware. Mainly because Everly was: a) worried out of mind that she would get in trouble both for losing and not being able to find that book, b) worried that she wouldn't be able to figure out what to do, and, c) wondering where she was.
Clearly, eight months had not helped Everly's memory of the castle's many corridors and locations.
But Everly was quite sure she would find it. After all, Everly's luck wouldn't give up on her now, would it? Besides, she would much rather spend time finding it than asking someone to borrow theirs or buying a new one.
Actually, asking someone to borrow theirs would work great. Maybe Everly wasn't as brilliant as she thought.
Maybe she was, considering she thought of that. But that was a conflict to stress about later. For now, Everly had to find that stupid book.
great job helping me figure out something to write about xD☆

March 20
Piper's dormitory was most enjoyable. It was quiet and bright, it had Piper's books, it smelled nice (probably because of the books), and most of the time it was moron-free. The dormitory was often Piper's refuge from the rest of her day, and she often retreated there when in a bad mood.
This day, however, was a good one for Piper Clark. Today, she had received an O in Transfiguration and set an "excellent example" in Charms class. Best yet, there had been no herbology, flying or potions today. She was curled up on her bed. Piper had found a copy of the newest issue of the Hogwarts Headliner, and had decided to read it through now that she actually had time.
There was a lot about dhampirs so far, as well as healing directions, duelling spells Piper already knew about, and a guide to wizarding careers. Piper found the guide most interesting; in this case, dragonology may be an intriguing career. After all, who wouldn't want to explore dragons and their genetics and abilities? Aside from the pages, Piper wondered about becoming a part of the Headliner team.
But then Piper turned to the most interesting page.
A page she dismissed, until she turned back and read it out of pure curiosity.
HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS: A HELPFUL GUIDE
It was by a student named Dealla Prince, and it caught Piper's eye because it was a literal guide to the one thing she had always wondered about. How did this work, this thing called relationships, and how did it come so easily to others? Perhaps this one freshly-printed newspaper page could help her understand this unfathomable mystery...or perhaps it was just another overrated and cheesy guide to making friends.
There was an introduction, and then three boxes across the middle titled: "Pay Attention to Body Language," "Be Persistent," and "Keep Your Eyes Open." Intrigued, Piper read across the page, soaking in the information. Surprisingly, although the information was presented in a bubbly and optimistic way, it offered some seemingly good advice. Was this really all there was to the process? It didn't sound like it made a lot of sense, but then again neither did most things at this school.
Piper had always been quite alone and quite confused on how this friendship business worked. Something in the back of Piper's mind now, however, had shifted. The article made the entire thing sound effortless. So maybe it was time to give it a go, prove she wasn't worthless at friends too, and if she failed miserably then she'd know never to try it again.
Well, Piper would never find anyone in here.
She picked up the paper, stepped out of her room and proceeded up the stairs, searching for a person who wouldn't hate her if this failed. Up she went, all the way to the second floor and on her way to the third, when suddenly Piper heard a scuffle echo around the stone hall. She frowned and followed the noise, walking back a few feet to the doorway of a large classroom. The interior contained floor-to-ceiling windows over the great lake, letting in a blinding amount of light. Inside, a girl was also scrimmaging around. Looking for something.
Piper quickly recognized Everly Charlton. Everly had seemed like a decent ally back in February, maybe she would be a good person to practice on. Piper stood in the doorway and took. a deep breath. "Hello...?"

-──────────────────────────────────────────────────────Everly's book was proving to be a difficult little thing to find. After approximately two and a half minutes of searching within the classroom, looking for the textbook she had lost, Everly decided to go elsewhere. After all, her textbook wasn't guaranteed to be in here, in this exact classroom; what if she hadn't left the book in the classroom, but accidentally bumped into someone else in between class periods, and the book fell out? It seemed as possible as her leaving it in the classroom, and Everly likely wouldn't have noticed, being as scatterbrained as she was, and because there were many materials she needed that she could never keep track of.
And thus, she decided that she couldn't spend all her time searching here - but there were plenty of places for her book to be. Almost too many. Perhaps for now she would have to borrow someone else's textbook. Yes, that definitely seemed like a much better plan. Everly knew she would still need to find it eventually though.
It was just at that moment, when realization struck Everly and she was about to head out, when another's presence had entered the room. Doing so caused the Gryffindor look up, and she spotted a blonde head peering in. She wasn't quite fully in the room, standing quite tentatively. Perhaps that was just as she was. Everly recognized the girl soon enough after. Piper Clark, Slytherin and fellow first year. Everly was familiar enough with the girl, but she didn't know as much about the girl. They had been in a group together once, along with Starlee Kennedy for an errand a month ago involving lighting a fire and very cold temperatures. Starlee, Everly saw often, but Piper, not so much. Maybe here and there, as they shared some classes, but Everly didn't remember purposely seeking out the Slytherin.
From what Everly could recall, Piper wasn't exactly very agreeable, but to be fair, perhaps Everly had misjudged Piper too quickly. That was something the girl did quite often, and Everly regretted it after multiple times. Piper deserved another chance, as did everyone, to a certain extent.
It was then when Everly realized Piper seemed to be acting a bit different. She'd already noticed how Piper was still standing in the doorway, seeming a bit meek, but Piper also carried that confidence that Everly saw often from the Slytherin. Piper wasn't snotty per se, but Everly noted how she conducted herself, and it was something Everly might've even admired about the Slytherin, and still did.Everly smiled at the girl. Whether Everly liked the girl a month ago or not, she was determined to make it up now. "Piper! Hi. It's been a long time." Everly sent a little wave at her direction - they were kind of too far to shake hands, and besides, Everly didn't want to come on as too strong. "How have you... been?" It wasn't too bad of a conversation starter. How Piper responded was up to the Slytherin."Hello...?"
It was then that the Gryffindor had a moment of euphoria. "Oh!" Everly said quickly before Piper could respond. She wasn't interrupting the girl, or at least she wasn't trying to. "Do you happen to have your textbooks? I may have lost one of mine, and I can't find it. If you don't mind, it would be awesome if I could borrow yours. No pressure, though!" Everly held out her hands, spreading them as if providing some sort of explanation for what she was doing in the classroom.
