Wet first meeting pv Amelia Faye closed

It was a sunny June afternoon, spring had quickly turned into summer and Amelia couldn't believe her first year at Hogwarts was nearly coming to an end. Classes had ended for the day and Amelia had decided to take advantage of this beautiful weather, she had got herself out of her robes and had changed into a light blue crop top and ripped jeans, grabbing everything she needed, she headed out to the courtyard.

The Hufflepuff was sat on the edge of the fountain, the light spray of the water cooling her down slightly, and she was busy writing a letter to her parents before she went home for the holidays. She wasn't paying attention to her surroundings or the other students in the courtyard. If she was, she probably would've noticed the young girl skating around the courtyard who was busy daydreaming and had ending up losing control of her skating. The girl had went head first into the fountain, making the water splash everywhere which resulted in Amelia getting a free shower.

"Argh!" She shrieked, jumping up from her seat. Her top and jeans were soaked, and her hair made her look like a drenched rat. The letter, which was now soaked and rendered useless, lay helplessly on the ground. She moved her hair out of her face and spun round to face the fountain, "Oh my god!" She gasped once she saw the girl who had fallen into the fountain, "Are you okay? Come on, let me help you up." She hurried towards the girl and held a hand out to her to help her up. "How did you manage that?" Her eyes glided down to the roller skates the girl was wearing, "Ah, I'm guessing that's how. You really should be more careful in the future, unless falling in the fountain and soaking everyone around you, including yourself, is something you usually do for fun." She joked, hoping to lighten the mood so the girl didn't feel guilty for getting Amelia drenched.

Dakotas arms ached, horridly, but she guessed at worst it was just a few scratches and was sore. Though he head pounded with a headache, causing a groan to escape her lips and her hand rubbing at the side of her temple. Gingerly, she took Amelias hand and used it to bring herself to a standing position, quickly regaining her balance on her skates. Smiling softly at Amelia, Dakota parted her lips to allow herself to speak “thank you, very much, I’m truly sorry that I drenched you in water.”. Hearing Amelias connect a laugh escaped Dakota, tilting her head softly to the side she peered at Amelia.

She was embarrassed, the last time she had a crash landing like that was when she first started learning and tripped over something, resulting in a wrist fracture because she put her hands out in front of her. Keeping a gentle smile Dakota sucked in a breath seeing how wet Amelia now was, Dakota didn’t see her originally sitting there and thought it would only be herself affected by the failed stop. Now not only was Dakota soaking wet due to her own fault, she had gotten someone else wet as well as someone else had seen her crash land, heat creeped up to her cheeks as her skin prickled with embarrassment.

"It's alright, really, I guess it's good you decided to crash land today when it's incredibly hot, I got a free shower," she smiled at the girl, "I'm Amelia, by the way. It's nice to meet you, even though this is an unusual way to be introduced to someone." She said, her eyes briefly scanned the girls body for any signs of injury, "Are you okay?" she asked, voice filled with concern, "You didn't cut yourself anywhere, did you?"

Amelia took notice of the way the girls face grew redder, and she guessed that the girl was embarrassed about their encounter. "Honestly, don't be embarrassed. Everyone falls sometimes, it's really not a big deal," she shrugs, "Plus, I don't really think anyone paid you any attention." She gestured around the courtyard, as if trying to prove her point, the students spaced around the courtyard were busy doing their own thing and weren't paying attention to the two girls.

"It's a warm day, I'm sure we'll dry off quickly." Amelia would suggest using a spell to dry themselves off, but unless she wasn't paying attention one day in Charms, she doesn't think that's a spell that first years learn. Although she was unsure what age the girl opposite her was, she didn't seem much older than Amelia so she was most likely a first year too.

"I have an idea!" Amelia's face lit up with excitement, "You could teach me how to roller skate! I don't have my own, so I could borrow yours. Only for today, obviously," She smiled, but her smile quickly disappears when she realizes that maybe this girl wouldn't want Amelia to borrow her roller skates. They had only just met, just this morning Amelia didn't even know this girl and she figured it was quite rude to just ask to borrow her roller skates. "I'm sorry, that was really rude of me, I shouldn't of suggested that," She laughs nervously, "If you don't want to that's totally okay. You'll probably just want to go back inside and change into some drier clothes."

Dakota blinked at the preposition Amelia had just made caused a bit of surprise for Dakota. She hadn’t expected to be forgiven so quickly, but the girl was right, it could be considered unbearably hot to some people. Smiling, Dakota reassured Amelia “I’m fine, I’ll probably have a few minor bruises but at least I didn’t fracture anything.” she hoped she hadn’t. Letting out a soft sigh Dakota looked her own clothing up and down before returning back to Amelia “oh, and my names Dakota, Dakota Olson.” Dakota had a Scottish accent but it was also mixed with a American one from visiting her fathers side in America.

After a moment of consideration, Dakota gave a light nod “I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to teach you..” trailing off Dakota narrowed her eyes, thinking about something. After a second or so Dakota smiled warmly at Amelia “oh, yes, I should have a extra pair of skates in my dorm room so I’ll run and grab those and change.” Dakota plopped down onto the fountains edge, it wouldn’t be safe for her to skate through the halls just to get to her room. Slipping her skates off she blinked at Amelia “you can use this or you can use the pair I’m about to go get.” reaching into the bag on her hip she pulled out a pair of sandals and slid them on over her socks so she wouldn’t be sliding through the halls either. Quickly, she stood up and made her way to the heavy door that led inside, wanting to make this run as quick as possible to get back to Amelia.

Amelia let out a sigh of relief when Dakota agreed to teach Amelia how to skate, her agreement definitely saved Amelia from having to walk away in embarrassment. "You have an extra pair? That's great, I'll just wait here while you go get them." She watched as Dakota took off her roller skates and put on a pair of sandals, her gaze followed the girl as she ran up the courtyard steps and out of sight.

It would probably be a good idea if Amelia went and got changed too, but Dakota had already left and she didn't want to leave the girls skates lying in the courtyard incase someone decided to steal them. Plus, her clothes were nearly dry already and her hair was starting to dry and turn into light curls, which always happened after her hair got wet. Amelia definitely had to thank the sweltering heat for drying her off so quickly.

She turned her attention to Dakota's skates, Dakota suggested that she could either put these skates on or put on the skates that Dakota was going to get. Amelia decided to just put these skates on, as they were already sitting in front of her. She sat down on the edge of the fountain and took her shoes off, setting them beside her. Once she put on the roller skates, she decided it would be best to stay sitting until Dakota came unless she wanted to be the second person today to fall in this courtyard whilst roller skating. She turned towards the door that led to the entrance hall, waiting for Dakota to return.

When Dakota stepped back out into the heat she groaned lightly, the sunlight causing her head to pound again as she rubs at her temple before descending the stairs into the courtyard. She carried her spare pair of skates in her right hand and her bag had been left back in her dorm room in the Badger Bungalow. Once she reached Amelia Dakota noticed that the girl had already put the other pair of skates on so Dakota sat down on the edge of the fountain and kicked her sandals off. Now, she slipped on the new pair, lacing them up before standing up herself and finding her balance.

Once Dakota found her balance she turned to Amelia and held out her hands, offering a support for the Hufflepuff so that she wouldn’t fall if she couldn’t find her own balance. It took awhile for Dakota to learn even the basics and she didn’t want someone getting injuries because she was careless enough to forget all the times she almost caused herself a serious one. Smiling, Dakota took in a light breath ”it'll be safer if you hold on, just for now.” Dakota also always found it more comforting when the person she was learning from held onto her so she was offering this for Amelia.

Amelia gave a small wave to Dakota when she saw the girl descending the steps into the courtyard. "Hi again." She smiled at Dakota while watching the girl put on the other pair of skates. Dakota offered her hands to Amelia, claiming that it'd be 'safer if she held on for now'. "That's probably a good idea, thanks," Amelia grabbed hold of Dakota's hands and stood up. Her balance wavered slightly but she gripped Dakota's hands tighter to prevent herself from falling flat on her face.

"I've roller skated a bit before," She explained, "I didn't do a good job. I fell and cut my hands and knees, it was not a fun experience." She smiled, she had some experience with roller skating but after her last terrible attempt, she hadn't tried it again. Amelia was definitely hoping that today wouldn't be a repeat of that moment, she really did not want to go to the hospital wing with blood running down her legs. "I guess it was worth it though, my mum bought me some chocolate to help me feel better. Let's hope I don't fall this time, unless you're willing to carry me to the hospital wing."

Dakota smiled at Amelia as she gently started rolling on her skates backwards. This had been on purpose and Dakota looks completely calm while this is happening, pulling Amelia along with her. Glancing over her shoulder every once and awhile to make sure she was alright she began talking to Amelia again once she got into the rhythm of things. Peering at her Dakota smiled ”ah, the first time I started I fractured my wrist because I made the mistake of throwing my hands out in front of me.” something Dakota learned quickly not to do. Dakota knew to some people she made skating look easy, it was years of practice, years of falls and injuries. It was amusing to think back to it now, the things she shouldn’t have done but did and the things she should’ve done.

“One time, when I was younger, it had snowed, I decided I wanted to go skate still so I put my skates on and went out on the sidewalks. It was alright till I hit a patch of ice.” laughing softly Dakota tilted her head, it was just amusing memories to her now. Nodding a bit, Dakota kept her smile towards Amelia, truth be told Dakota was probably too weak to carry the Hufflepuff she was now guiding ”im sure you’ll be fine, Amelia.”.

Amelia let out a yelp of surprise when Dakota started pulling her backwards, but she quickly regained her composure and took a deep breath. This was fine, it was only roller skating, she'd get the hang of it in no time and she would no longer need to hold Dakota's hands. "Woah, really?" She gasped in surprise at Dakota's comment, "You fractured your wrist? Ouch." Okay, so maybe this was not fine. Getting a fractured wrist was really not something on Amelia's to-do list today. She let out a nervous chuckle, "Well, at least I know not to throw my hands out in front of me if I fall."

The Hufflepuff listened intently to Dakota's story, "Roller skating in winter is not a good idea. Alright, noted." She laughed. She nodded when Dakota said that she would be fine, she really hoped so. Her lack of experience in roller skating was incredibly noticeable from the way her gripped tightened slightly on Dakota's hands when she lost her balance for a split second. Amelia took another deep breath and focused on balancing herself, she didn't want to burden Dakota for too long with having a vice-like grip on her hands so she had to become more confident in roller skating.

"Okay," she says after a couple of minutes, "I'm going to let go for a second and see if I can do this on my own." She let go of Dakota's hands and moved forwards slightly. She wobbled slightly but put her hands out to her sides to steady herself. Hey, she was actually getting pretty good at this. Granted, she was moving at a snail's pace, but she could move forward without falling on her face. At this moment in time, Amelia will take any win she can get.

"That's enough of that," She chuckled and took hold of Dakota's hands again. "I hope I'm not burdening you by holding your hand. It's been, probably like 3 years since I've last tried roller skating and I already told you how amazing my last attempt went," she said, her voice full of sarcasm, "So I kind of just want to get into the swing of it again."
