Without its predecessor present to keep it in check, the once hardy reputation was battered from lies, exposed secrets and rumours spreading throughout the halls over a span of more than half a year. Returning to acclaim it, Aurelia realised that her own name was affected by the turmoil of events and had long succumbed to its wounds, scarred, bruised and battered. Aurelia Notresvace or, rather, Bezuidenhout, was a Gryffindor with an unempathetic soul harbouring much prejudice against dhampirs. Bloodbaiting and playing the victim. With multiple instances seemingly on her record. Within this, held only the slightest of truths, the rest were lies built up from rumours arising from the general want - no, need - for something to talk about to satiate the nag of human curiosity and kindle gossip.
Much knowledge of the events was acquired prior to her return through the much-overexaggerated words of Heinrich that was then backed up by the intensive reading of the school's headliner articles upon her arrival. To say the least, she was not at all contented with her discovery. Most who had disappeared from school were shortly forgotten, it was an occurrence that was rather normal on the absolute contrary to her case. Aurelia was remembered, with once buried memories forced onto the surface with the intense pressure of the headliner and events adjacent.
However, Aurelia could only brood for so long. A bloodied mess was made for her to scrape clean. Slowly but surely, she would. But for now, Aurelia had learnt that even though her name was all about in whispers around the school, there were no connections linking to her pretty visage. Creating a new identity and reputation to follow seemed far easier than nursing her current one back to health. Who knew a mundane accessory such as a pair of muggle glasses could do a feat altering one's appearance? And with the addition of her auburn-tinted locks pulled away from her face partially, she was nearly unrecognisable to anyone who knew Aurelia Notresvace.
The moment they reunited back in the manor, Heinrich was too keen on spilling all the whole ordeal he had gone through. However, one individual, in particular, which he had told her about was to set her at a state of unease, not because she was afraid but because as much as Heinrich was protective over his sister, was Aurelia over her brother. And this boy, Ky-sou, according to the intel, seemed to be nothing more than a pushy detective, interested in his own findings than what Heinrich was comfortable with. Aurelia was having none of that.
Every action was fuelled by a motive, in Aurelia's case. The only description Heinrich had provided her with on Ky-sou* other than that he was an Asian boy With the absence of a year, or any other physical traits, Aurelia would not be able to distinguish her target too easily. Of course, Aurelia loved a challenge. There were certainly not many Asians in Hogwarts, but Aurelia was to set a trap just for him, a trap of knowledge, articles, books, and a new identity right in the open on one of the many desks of Hogwart's library. Whatever information and context she could find, from the books written by the ministry of magic officials to the inaccurate muggle folktales of dhampirs, she had acquired and spayed on the desk. In her hands were the headliner articles which she scrutinised. The scene was set, a bookish girl on some intensive research on dhampirs.

There was something odd and a bit terrifying to Kazuo about the way things seemed to be forgotten so very quickly around the school. Even the noble Hideyoshi seemed to have forgotten his own quest. Yet Kazuo continued to remember, to make notes, to keep track of the strange things he had heard about or seen. Perhaps it was this compulsive habit of documenting everything that kept him from also forgetting. Or perhaps the other students simply didn’t care when they weren’t directly affected.
The mystery of T. Ruth had not been solved and it’s investigators had seemingly abandoned the mission. The chaos of Howard’s outburst seemed to have faded to nothing and the articles that had followed in the next edition of the Headliner had once again been questionable yet without someone like Howard to speak out, nothing happened. An article about half-giants that went unchallenged and it made Kazuo wonder how his Prefect, Quinn, had felt about it.
Though the others seemed to have given up, he had continued with his own investigations and had even gotten some small results. Definitely an uphill climb, especially when it came to uncovering anything about the disappearance of Aurelia. He had assumed that more students in her year would have cared but it seemed very few had given her disappearance much thought at all. Then Heinrich left. Ostensibly to return home or switch schools. Probably for the best, really. The boy didn’t seem to have the fortitude to deal with the perpetual trauma that was the Hogwarts learning experience.
So he had been left with information but no purpose beyond personal interest. Bits and pieces, not quite enough to explain any of the various mysteries yet not enough leads to move forward. It was frustrating yet he didn’t let his frustration stop him. He entered the library with the intention of reviewing some of his research only to find himself staring at a scene that was reminiscent of the day Hideyoshi sought him out. Except this time he wasn’t the one sitting at a table covered in research. This time it was a girl he didn’t recognize, quite a bit older looking. Dhampir books and Headliners on the table, a pretty obvious connection. His eyes narrowed as he studied the scene then he crossed the distance and peered over her shoulder at the Headliner she was reading.
“Didn’t think anyone cared about the Dhampir thing anymore.” He spoke with amusement. “What side of the issue do you fall on?” It was a blunt question coming from a complete stranger. She had no reason to answer and Kazuo was prepared to be told to mind his own business but he was hoping that the unexpected question might draw out more of a reaction. He watched the c=girl with open curiosity as he waited for her response.

A trap set with bait so enticing was bound to catch her prey. And it did spectacularly so. Less than half past Aurelia was sat at the table did Kazuo approach her. Finding his way right next to her, the footsteps rather light like any typical thirteen years old of his stature. A corner of her lips would tilt into a smirk, the smug expression obscured under her own shadow as the boy peered over her shoulder. With her expression stoic, the turn of her head in reaction to his words would confirm that her strategically set trap had lured the right target into her grasp. An Asian boy.
Determination, for her, was set and it meant that this Sherlock wannabe would not be finding his suspect anytime soon. With Leia around, Aurelia was not. Now, it was time for her to start with her lies and deceit. Despite her ever-lovely visage, regardless if a bookish pair of glasses were adorned on them, her terrible presence still reverberated from her form. Unsettling. Nevertheless, even taking on a less sophisticated accent accent than her cultivated pureblood one, she would adjust her slightly oversized glasses with the push of a dainty finger as she responded, "I don't know... seems like it was written to lure him out, this dhampir Howard for his mistake, but at the same time, promoting some unspoken discrimination against his kind. "
" I do think that students - regardless of race have the right to know how to protect themselves. But that should remain in the duel article sections. I never really seen a dhampir personally actually... "

He would take in her appearance as he waited for her response, noting her bookish look and the way she paused to adjust her glasses. There was an eeriness to her presence that he had encountered in a few others at the school, a feeling that set his teeth on edge. Yet he paid it no mind, or rather, refused to give in to the pressure of natural instincts. Whatever this feeling was that made the girl unapproachable, it was more of a lure to the budding thrill-seeker in him than the collection of books and newspapers.
Kazuo considered her words, arching a brow. "Yes, mentioning the attack in specific makes it a rather pointed article. A valid concern for safety doesn't make the article any less full of bullshit though, now does it?" He circles around and, without asking, slid himself into a chair across from the girl. Eyes scanned the collection of papers until he spotted the issue that had followed Howard's outburst.
"Were you there?" He tapped the issue. "To watch the inevitable result of the inflammatory article? To watch a boy, abandoned and attacked, lash out with frustration and guilt?" He gazed at the girl with curiosity, an amused smirk lingering at the corners of his lips, not quite blooming.
"You think dueling will teach people to defend themselves? Not Defense Against the Dark Arts?" He arched a brow questioningly. "And you think the teachers that look the other way, not even bothering to inform the students of the risks they are facing by attending this school are going to adequately prepare children to face monsters?" The smirk bloomed fully for a brief moment then he added. "Not that I think Howard is a monster. You've been here what, three years? Four?" He guessed at her age. "And you've never met a dhampir? You likely share classes with at least one or two."
