Grinning softly Dakotas eyes sparkled with amusement, her gaze shifting back to Jackson but seeming a bit surprised just for a moment before going back to Kyle. Sighing softly, her gaze became a bit more gentle, not seeming as annoyed anymore “the actual reason I came over here was to try and be nice, ya know, since you’re soaked to the bone..it doesn’t hurt to have help or be showed kindness every once and awhile.” though she had been amused at Jackson’s comments towards Kyle, Dakota seems to have quickly regained herself and was now back to her kind self.
“And..you don’t look all the intimidating when your soaked.” giving Kyle a smile, the tension and sarcasm she had used earlier seemed to have almost completely disappeared from her voice. She never intended to make someone angry, or, more angry then they already were, so now Dakota tried to tread lightly with her words. Dakota let her hands drop to her sides, her blue gaze rested on Kyle as she sealed her lips, thinking for a few moments before giving him yet again another kind look “you really should think about going and changing..you can sulk all you want in dry clothes then.” pressing her lips together Dakota finished her sentence.

The day certainly didn't seem terribly promising, all grey skies and a rain that didn't seem to have an ending in sight. Such days, all one such as herself could do was gather the things she would need for a nice quiet day of doing her research and wrapping up the last couple of assignments she had left for homework. Though before she hid herself away into the library, she wanted to stop for a quick cuppa and a bite to eat; couldn't get much done with an empty stomach.

Coming into the Hall, her pale eyes took a quick glace around for anyone she might sit with... and of course her gaze found her cousin, surrounded. That was never a good sign. The closer she got to the gaggle of first years and her family, the clearer she could see his tense body language. Honestly, did no one know when it was wise to back off?

Illowy didn't compare in brawn to her cousin, but she did have her own intimidating disposition, not with her short stature and small frame. The older snake had long dark hair, a stark contrast to her ghostly pale eyes and fair skin. However today, her long locks were pinned up by a hair stick, leaving her most unsettling feature in full view. The girl had back, marble like scars that stretched over her collarbone and shoulder, crawling up her neck and across her left cheek; almost as though someone had dripped black ink into her very veins and let it spread like water colour on a wet sheet of parchment. The same marks were visible down the length of her left arm and right forearm, as well as patches branching on her legs. To match her earie appearance, she offered no warmth in her expression; only her cold, pale gaze that students had said before made one feel as though she were looking through you, not at you.

It wasn't difficult to gauge the situation; the girl was being kind, Kyle didn't want it. The arrogant first year lad was being a prick, and some other girl was sticking her nose where it didn't belong. There wasn't much left for her to know as she inserted herself, coming up behind her cousin, "Ye hardly seem like anyone t'be commenting about decency, boyo." she remarked coldly in her own thick Irish accent. Her eyes looked the eaglet up and down a moment, "Bit big fer yer britches aren't ya? I think he's made himself clear he doesn't need yer assistance."

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

DeRook, the Irish name of a pureblood family, was something Kyle was always proud of. Not so much because he cared for blood status over other wizards, but because his parents were both Hogwarts Alumni, and Aurors. They had been around during the battle of hogwarts and went on to fight dark wizards, and monsters everywhere. Hardly a name to mock, atleast if you wanted to keep your teeth. Kyle grabbed the table and started to rise, a heavy scowl on his face as he was ready to knock the first year birb with a big mouth into next week. The voice of his cousin however, reigned him in atleast for the moment. He knew how she felt about his violent tendencies and if she was going to try and put the guy in his place with words he would atleast give her the opportunity to resolve things before he resorted to his tried and true method of dealing with annoyances.

The hufflpuff however, was at the very least not actively trying to frustrate him, not any more. The mother hen nature of hufflepuffs just annoyed the hell out of him, but it wasnt her fault...she was just trying to be nice after all...ugh...nice

Kyle gave his cousin an appreciative nod before he looked back towards the girl "Listens, Path to hell paved with good intentions yeah? I know im wet, but ill dry. Don't need or want people fussin over me. Bein wet aint a big deal, and there a big fire right there. wont be wet long."

Jackson’s sneer turned into a scowl when a new challenger entered the ring.

The dhampir wasn’t usually a hot headed person, despite the countless troubles he got into as a child. But something about the werewolf acting snappish towards the kind hufflepuff had set him off, and so he got snappy. He supposed it wasn’t the best course of action, but what was he supposed to do, not defend Dakota, even if he was just arguing with Kyle?

Okay, well, he didn’t even know the girl, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t want to, and he couldn’t let someone be mean to someone trying to show them kindness.

“Well then, I suppose I apologize,” Jackson was obviously being sarcastic, his words practically dripping with venom towards the slytherin and gryffindor duo. “For standing up to a mutt’s bullying.”

Ouch, low blow, Jackson.

But the ravenclaw obviously didn’t care, having already put two and two together to figure out the gryffindor was a werewolf. He was a ravenclaw for a reason. This information only fueled Jackson’s snappish manner, an obvious distaste for the werewolf, even if he didn’t know of the tension between his vampire heritage and the werewolves.

However, after seeing Kyle trying to...apologize? If that’s what you’d call it, to Dakota, the half-vampire reeled himself in. He may not be the nicest of people towards bullies, werewolves, or literally anyone, but he can recognize when someone was at least trying to be nice.

Emphasis on trying.

With a sigh and an eye roll, Jackson turned and began stalking away from the table, passing by Dakota and pausing just long enough to pat her on the shoulder, his sneer turning into a smile. And then with that, the ravenclaw disengaged with the werewolf, slytherin, and kind hufflepuff, instead storming out into the rain.

Dakota wasn’t expecting the way Kyle had so quickly changed his way of speaking, blinking she let out a soft sigh. Though Dakota had felt inclined to defend Jackson she also knew he had been a bit rude, just like she had when her annoyed state got the better of her. It was such a quick change in fact that when Kyle spoke again it startled her with the fact that he was no longer scowling. Dakotas gaze softened, her hands still held at her side as she sighed.
Giving another smile she nodded, “of course, you’re right, I’m sorry to have bugged you..” trailing off her thoughts seemed to have been brought elsewhere for a moment before she blinked “..I was just a bit worried.” Dakota hadn’t been shown no kindness in her last muggle school so when someone shot a spike of worry through her she typically stepped in to check on them.
Turning her attention to the girl who had joined them she kept her lips sealed for the moment. She seemed to have thought of something else as she turned her gaze back to Kyle, biting her lip as she spoke “I’m also sorry for what I said.” Dakota sounded genuine with each sentence, her gaze gentle as she spoke. Her gaze followed Jackson walking off, having been a bit surprised when he patted her shoulder and supposing she should most likely thank him for trying to stand up for her, even though she most defiantly got herself in this situation. Giving a quick wave goodbye to the two she hurried off after Jackson, set on thanking him.

Illowy liked to think that between the pair of them, Illowy was the calm and rational one. She was the brains, she was resolute, she could keep her wit about her. However the moment those words left the lads lips, she tensed, nearly trembling, her face, her whole body really, flushed hot.

Oh, but let it be not mistaken; she wasn't afraid or sad or any of those terribly unfitting emotions. No. She was stark white pissed. Words were gone from her mind, but she had quite a few ideas of what she'd like to do. Some enough that any onlookers in this hall that knew Ky's reputation might mistake her for him in a dress.

Yet, instead of facing the repercussions of his choice words, the coward chose to walk away under her gaze that would throw daggers in his back if they could. Children were too bold for their own good sometimes. The world, this school, would teach them better eventually.

The Hufflepuff pipped up a small apology, though her behavior was well enough to spare her from Illowy's glare. After all, she hadn't done anything truly wrong beyond overstepping a boundary. She was still young, she would learn. After all, it wasn't right to be rude to someone trying to offer help. Naturally, Illowy didn't condone Ky's initial response to the girl; mostly it had been the boy that lit the fire under her. Had he not been how he was, a much different side of the snake would've been seen.

Illowy watched as the girl scurried off, leaving the cousins behind, "I'll make 'im eat slugs...he'll be lucky if that's all I do." she growled under her breath, still trembling with her anger.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
