Opeila nodded at Kit's explanation. "I guess I get that. I always feel weird being called by my last name. Even more if people who are around my age. I wonder if... the stereotypical pureblood grows up being called by their last name." Opeila lived with a pureblood family since last summer, but she had never heard Lord or Lady Winter call Airlia by her last name. That would have also been very awkward. But maybe England was just different than Finland?
"Well, on the weekends we luckily don't have classes so I don't think I need a tardy slip. Thank you.", she told Kit, smiling. "But I actually wanted to go to the library for a while and I guess I'm gonna take this one back to the common room before.", she added, looking down at her cat, who was now calmly resting in her arms, the yellow eyes fixed on Kit.
The second year thought about it for a moment before she answered Kit's question how she differentiated mess and trouble. "Well, to me a mess is something that has a visible consequence. Such as that." She pointed at the trophies that had been thrown over. "Trouble... Is basically everything else.", she ended and shrugged.

"Hmm...good question," Kit commented upon hearing Opeila's question about stereotypical purebloods. "Maybe you could ask a few to find out. I mean I'm sure family members have no reason to do it, since everyone in the same family usually has the same last name, but maybe their peers use them."
When told Opeila was going to take her cat back to her common room before heading to the library, the caretaker nodded at her thanks and chuckled softly at her latter remark. "Sounds like a smart idea." He was just about done with righting everything that had been overturned or misplaced in the trophy room too, he decided. Well - almost.
"A...visible consequence?" Kit repeated, scratching his head. "So things that just have emotional or mental consequences are trouble and not messes? Huh...that's an interesting definition." Then he smiled, putting up the last of the knocked-over trophies she had pointed at. "So if me putting these back up is a 'visible consequence', does that mean I'm making a mess by righting them?"
When finished, he turned toward the door and glanced back at Opeila. "Well, I think I'm just about done in here if you wanted to step out with me. Unless there's anything else you need?"

Opeila thought about Kit's suggestion to ask a few of them. But who? Airlia? She hadn't spoken to her adopted sister in weeks and she didn't feel like she could face her now. Also what if it was something offensive to ask? Or something seemingly stupid even? The few purebloods she knew of would probably laugh at her if so. "I don't know. I always have to call my... my guardians Lord and Lady Winters.", she said. It was not true, the name was her cover name, not her guardians'. But what good would it do if Opeila allowed slip-ups like this to happen only to make sure that minor, seemingly unimportant truths were told?
As soon as Kit started to analyze her definitions of mess and trouble further, the young Slytherin realized that they were not thought through very well. A mental mess... Yeah, actually Opeila would title that mess as well. "Mh... Okay, maybe mess works for both. But trouble doesn't. Or at least I would not use it for both.", she thought out loud and finally admitted "I guess I haven't thought my definitions through that much." At his question whether he was making a mess by righting the trophies, Opeila shook her head. "A visible consequence that is viewed negatively. So- sure, if my intention was to knock over all the cups, righting them would make a mess of my plan. Does that make sense?"
It seemed that Kit was going to leave as well. "No, I don't think so. Thank you for helping." Opeila sent the caretaker a smile and turned to the door as well.
Opeila leaves the thread unless stopped.
