There were too many people here to keep track of.
You would have thought that more students would be moving on into the Spring area, considering the Underworld's unnerving vibe, but most seemed to be lingering here. Every direction Mel turned seemed to bring another group of rowdy kids, shouting and drinking the mystery punch and laughing and crying and skipping about like madpeople. Well this was happening. However, Mel didn't tend to get overwhelmed by crowds. Unless she was already in a bad mood, they often energized her. And so, hesitating not even a little, she swept into the courtyard in her flowing, purple, Greek-style gown.
Initially, the Thunderbird had planned on dressing as Ares, the god of war. He was a badass, and stubborn, like her. Plus, she had to admit, his war helmet was pretty darn cool. But ultimately she had decided that she couldn't stand his whiny-ness and toxic masculinity, and bloodshed for bloodshed's sake. Then Mel had considered Hermes, the messenger of the gods, but his tiny wing shoes were stupid and annoying, there was no other way to put it. Forget Hermes. And so, she had settled on Hecate. The goddess of magic, darkness, and witchcraft. Terrifier of men. Perfect.
Along with her deep violet dress, Mel wore knee-length purple boots, a gold half-face mask, and a necklace of a key, a symbol of her goddess. Her dark blonde hair had been pulled back into a braided ponytail and a purple rose was tucked into the back. Gold bangles clinked at her wrists and she carried, along with her wand, a spear. Because of the latter, several people ducked out of the girl's way as she passed.
A few faces stuck out among the crowd. That Rhea girl from arrival, and Rhea's friend Calypso; others she'd seen in the halls and those who she knew from America. Mel went over to the drinks, considering having some. But the effects were uncertain, and Mel intended on trying her hand at those Trials she'd been hearing about. Better not.
With one last glance around, Mel left the Underworld to begin the competition.Word Count: 355ReducioAction: Entering the Underworld, leaving for Trials

The Underworld had come crashing down, cavernous sharp rocks falling down upon the heads of the dancers yet the orchestra only grew louder. Levi would bring his hands into their resting position behind his back (see, the rash was soon to spread to his knuckles) and glance up into the eyes of Nikita, a restive sea brewing within them. Remarkable how her eyes clashed with themselves, drowned in their own gleam, brought her hair into a vibrancy unmatched. Good thing he hadn’t paid extra for that.
"Thanks.” Yes, yes, you’re welcome, now straighten your back. “Yes, I know he's lying. He's too stupid for you, anyway. " Levi could say many, many words about Percematt, none of them particularly kind. For one, he had nothing on Nikita, with a lodestone fixed in her face that brought everyone’s gaze straight there. However, stupid wasn’t one of them. Denial did what it liked, told the Gryffindor all kids handled traumas differently, painted Percematt with the halo so believed in. But there was this jolt in his gut, the electrifying sting when he looked the taller boy in his sorry eyes, a part of him that knew Percematt was aware. He understood.
He simply didn’t care. Still, her effort was enough. “Thanks, doll.”
The mixture of starlight and bluebell flames became a cement that rooted Levi to hell on the ground, standing rigid as the world came crashing inward with accusation and truth, neither of which were of any interest to a boy whose entire happiness was based in an imperfect lie. The heavier they became, the more they pushed at the fine and feeble veil that protected his gaze from direct sunlight. Navy nights of fanciful stories became black ones of intense suppressed discussion. Playing in the den became the result of a locked door rather than a childish whim. It was embedded in his curse, the blue moon, his red hair that severed the poorly made seams of the brunet’s familial bonds. The doors, windows, and secrets smashed by this curse were flouted by the child's instinct to stand in front of his parents as a bullet’s dummy, and would it always be that way? No, but try telling that to the ones that think they know it all.
In time, it’d become clear that not every witch or wizard was so uncontrollably in tune with their emotions. Levi, of course, is drawn to outliers, but finds no magnetic attraction in himself. There is only the repulsion of two forces far too alike for their own benefit, competing to outrun the other. In others, a beautiful imperfection, in himself, but a fault, one that could render his birth certificate little more than a gift receipt. Questions were asked, not by anyone else because why would they care? But his own inquiries, and oh the way they plague him, like a small rat scouring across the blackened terrain, marching an army of giants to the death of their people. Was he special? Was it genetic? Was he faulty?
The stars and many eyes peered down upon him, losing themselves in the wildfire gulf of his hair, a blush that had spread up past his cheeks and down to his fingertips. His embarrassment was a lethal rash, one hand unsteady in front of his eyes as though it may evaporate to nothingness, the other ruffling his hair in hopes the crimson shade would be shaken out, reduced to bloody glitter along the pathway. Boiling shame by the heat of their lips had sent steam through him, dyeing him red and then going away, leaving nothing but a child in their mess, with little to show for it but ill-placed lies. Time didn’t allow for reasonability; its pressure was one unearthly that could only be held by someone who bore no conscience.
That lousy excuse brought a disbelieving yet commiserating smile to the mocha face of the stranger. She tossed his defense to the wind with a gentle blow of her lips, chuckling at his tousled scarlet hair and wide, nervous eyes. Like somehow she’d wandered into their bunch, bathed in their events in a matter of seconds, and already knew something he didn’t. A travesty of a school photographer, neglecting the candid shots of the gossiping teenagers as they met with their bejeweled dates, lingering in the Underworld rather than capturing the Spring, as alive as the Grounds would ever be. Perhaps she kept these photos for… personal use.
"That's not what my photographs tell me." Speaking of.
With those words, the stranger displayed her fan of photographs like a proudly woven garment, allowing Levi’s eyes to rapidly adjust to the shadowy figures they displayed. One on top of another, silhouettes intertwined with open eyes, a furious date, the resulting lover’s quarrel. Documented. Clearly shown, his typically-brown slick hair, the distinguishing plaid jacket he wore, the flower crown—his mother—becoming lopsided on his head before tumbling right off onto the brutal ground. An eldritch sight, living it all over again. Levi’s breath came in sharp and one hand was yanked up to his lips, feeling for Percematt’s as though he’d never left.
He was left to his pathetically concealed horror when she rolled the fan back into a tidy stack and tucked it away, the boy barely resisting the self-serving urge to reach out and pull it back, tossing them into the flames that lit her face so pleasantly. As he scrambled to place the yellow and white crown back on his head (this did very little for the flaming hair issue), with some petals ripped away and the neatly braided stems coming loose, the stranger leaned in, warmly whispering in his ear. Giving him the opportunity to steal the photos. Later, Levi would claim he resisted the animalistic impulse twice, but rather, he was too stricken to even try.
"If you want these photos, I suggest you visit the Caretaker's office some time."
The Caretaker? Did she work out of his office? His expression contorted, puzzled by her bizarre instruction and what it could imply. The Caretaker of the magnificent castle was unsurprisingly someone the lion had never before interacted with, and therefore knew nothing of, save for his respected profession. His hazel eyes glanced back to her, shining with a light unknown. “What?” Stability was but a memory, and his voice wavered. Still, her advice would be heeded ideally the following daybreak; Levi couldn’t take the chance of Percematt finding himself interested in the whereabouts of the photos. That menace had more ways to...well...persuade, than Levi.
"Since I'm sure this isn't normal, can we get staring eyes away in any chance?”
This isn’t normal. Not normal, she’d said. Peculiar, weird, disturbing, abhorrent. Nikita hadn’t used that word herself, but with a face like that, she might as well have! To be deemed abnormal by her was a death sentence, and her suggestion awakened something in him that had been knocked unconscious by Percematt’s physically proclaimed love. The need for a high social status. Respect. He’d foam at the mouth just thinking about it if the place weren’t so crowded back-to-back with onlookers, forming opinions on things as small as a callus on his finger. He reached for Nikita’s hand, taking it in his own with a trembling grip. “Yes.”
The stranger chimed in with a defense the young lion could only wish he’d come up with, and though her efforts were honorable and would be filed away for future use, it wasn’t enough to restore the ego Nikita had wrapped around her pinky and vein. He smiled with the tan girl, nodding his head and hoping the red-haired ball of fire would take this into account when weighing what to tell her pureblood associates about that lovely date she had to the Blossom Ball.
"If you're so eager to head out, though, be careful of Kissy-Lips. I think I saw him headed the same way,"
If something bad is happening, at least it's happening to me.
Dear God. This night could not get worse. Stay here with all the people glaring at his changed hair and nails, or wander off into the light and take his chances with the newly stray lover Percematt. He’d leave this one to Nikita. “Do you still want to go?” Really, he didn't mind too terribly. It was a big event. It’d be easy to get lost in the relaxed and easygoing dancers and demigods of the Spring Celebration.
Right?
TL;DRReducioLevi is both horrified and secretly gleeful that, in the very least, he's getting attention. Any publicity is good publicity, right? As long as Nikita doesn't tell her pureblood buds he's 'not normal'. Eris suggests he visits the Caretaker and Levi is understandably confused. The couple then weighs going to the Spring Celebration where Levi can get his attention back escape this mess.

Blossom Ball - Underworld

To Flash's admittance that he was a mess, Falentra activated her mother bear mode, clenching a fist towards whatever might have put him in such a state. It was honestly relieving to see someone be so protective of him, though he would not implicate any of the people who had hurt him recently. Getting a swift punch wasn't going to cure Selim's insanity or realign Dmitri's illusions of grandeur. Still, the sentiment meant a lot to him, he could relate to the feeling. His smile started to come back, one with great admiration in it.
"There's no one to blame but myself." He said, putting a hand on her raised fist to pacify it. "Thank you for caring."
At the mention that Falentra and Howard broke up, Flash was less surprised and more worried about how she was handling it. People broke up all the time, he broke up with his girlfriend right before the ball himself. He assumed each case was different, he couldn't say he was thinking much about Anastasia. They did seem like they had been very fond of each other when he last saw them together, very close. She looked suddenly tearful, turning away suddenly so he couldn't see her face. He took the hand that had once been a fist and cradled it in his, trying to soothe her with small circular rubs on the back around her knuckles.
Before he could ask after her though, she turned back, mussing his hair back up, eliciting another short giggle as he reflexively tried to get away. He wouldn't pry into it if she clearly didn't want to talk about it, and her question was a natural next step. She made him bashful by phrasing it so flatteringly though, despite knowing full well he was handsome. After all, he was handsome on purpose.
"Well..." Flash said, with a big sigh.
He'd pause, looking up at the sky. He hadn't really thought about how he was going to explain his strange choice, he had mostly just accepted on a whim. Luckily, he didn't need to find the right words, as the man himself walked up and answered himself. Quickly looking him over, it was hard not to notice the artist's statement on his clothing, a cut piece and a red X underneath. On his mark, that was interesting. Thomas really was quite bold on several counts, Flash liked that.
During his inspection, Thomas commented on Falentra's availability, though if he had seen her reaction when telling Flash, it could be interpreted as a jab. Flash would laugh brightly, continuing his good mood to spare Falentra from having to talk more about a topic she was avoiding. "You have a thing for people out of your league?"
He would swiftly be invited away, a clear signal that the two of them were either at odds, or Thomas didn't want Flash side-by-side with a bodyguard. The intelligent choice would be to refuse and stay with his ally, but there were two problems with that. One, he didn't want Falentra to actually have to get in a fistfight over him, and two, he was very curious about why Thomas had asked him along. He said it was to get back at Miss Tyranni, but that seemed unlikely. Flash and Miss Tyranni had a professional, friendly relationship, which is why he knew she was excited about taking Andrew Vance to the ball.
Squeezing her hand another time, Flash looked up into Falentra's eyes apologetically. "I hope I see you later, love." With that, he'd follow the reaper.
Once the two had put a strategic amount of distance between them and her, Thomas surprised Flash again by producing a flask. "Certainly." Flash said, wondering flippantly whether it wasn't some deadly poison before lifting it to his lips and up over his head. He was getting way too used to the taste, even starting to expect it like an old friend. With one short chug knocked back, he'd hand Thomas back his drink, blinking rapidly and shaking his head. He'd get a big smile that bordered on a smirk, he could sense the other shoe was about to drop.
Flash touched a finger gently on the cut portion of the suit, wondering whether he could discern what implement Thomas used to butcher the fabric. "Thanks for not coming shirtless." Flash would laugh a bit to himself. It was a real possibility, now that he thought of it, especially given the theme. Maybe he knew Flash would have had more trouble taking him seriously like that. Or maybe that was giving him too much credit.
Then, Thomas' tone changed completely, asking a basic question. Flash's light, smug smile would flatten as he rolled his eyes. As someone who spent an ungodly amount of time extracting information from people, he couldn't believe it was being thrown back on him so carelessly. That couldn't be it, he had to have some sort of blackmail or something, right? Did he expect Flash to be intimidated, when in a crowd? Shrugging his shoulders, he figured he would do what he could to coax out the context that Thomas was depriving him of.
"You asked me to the Blossom Ball to see how well I knew you?" Flash said, his voice clear and easy to hear over the other people chatting around them. "How conceited, and here I thought you said you'd show me a good time."
The whiskey was a good start of course, it was already igniting a fuzzy feeling above his brow. The music here was lovely. Maybe this would be a nice night.

Actions: Debating with Sam and Vivian whether to leave or not (not actually leaving)
Interacting with @Vivian Fletcher and @Samantha SalwisLily wasn’t really sure what to do now. Vivian’s shouting was staring yo really get on her nerves.
In an instant, she decided that she was going to the trials. She could do it, right? Well, all she knew right now that Vivian’s “singing” was hurting her ears. She didn’t know how Sam could handle it.
“Hey… um… She started, not sure how to say that she was leaving. “I’m going to the trials. And I’m not sure if I’m going to come back afterwards.” The next part she didn’t really want to mention, but knew she had to. “Your hurting my ears with your “singing”” She looked at Vivian when she said this, and tried not to sound too harsh. “Maybe I’ll see you there?” Then, she smiled. She did want Vivian and Sam to come, but not if Vivian continued on like this.
With or without anyone else, she knew she was leaving. There was nothing slaw she could do. If neither of them wanted to go, then Lily would go alone. With a certain annoyed tone in her voice she said “I’m leaving, whether you’re coming or not.”Banner by Lucia Fox

Her head swiveled as the familar voice rolled across the waves of students as she took a few sips from her glass. Clearly, she hadn't had to wait long gesturing with her glass as the Hufflpuff made her way over to her as the Gryffindor eyed her up and down grinning. The trials had taken their toll on them both but somehow in some way, they had managed to wind up unscathed. Perhaps a bit bruised and battered but nevertheless, they were still function as she adjusted the flower pin in her hair. She'd been scared she was going to lose that but thankfully, everything was as it had remained as she drained the remaming contents of her cup marveling in the taste of the punch. "Just trying to recharge after all that craziness." The Gryffindor said nodding towards the assortments of cups and drinks as she reached over pouring yet another glass but this one was not for her though.
"I reckon you need it more than me though." Watching the liquid tumble into the cup, she'd extend the drink to Adlai offering it to her. Among all the dancing and running around, she'd imagine it would leave one quite exhausted. That, and the premises of some of those trials were just utterly out of this world in the Gryffindor's opinion, she still didn't get the whole running from this point to that point for a pomengrate but she'd done it. Both of their names were in the running now and they could only hope for a positive outcome. The only challenge that she'd probably passionately enjoyed would be Apollo's and probably the one that left her throat clamoring for some drink after all that singing as she took another cup. This year's ball was certainly proving to be different and after her exprience with the last two, the brunette reckoned that was a good thing.
As her eyes skimmed the crowd, there were a few areas of interest that caught her eye. More notably, students being students as she shook her head folding her arms as Elena nudged Adlai to get her attention. "Let's make a bet, shall we?" The Gryffindor asked gesturing with her free hand towards a rabble of students that seemed deadset on eradicating each other. Whether it was just emotions or something more deeper, Elena didn't care. She had seen her fair share of balls ruined and near-death expereinces than to get involved with that. She was perfectly fine being a wallflower and letting the chaos unfold around her. "One Galleon says by the end of this, someone wounds up in the Hospital Wing." Preferably, Elena hoped it would not be her but that had certainly been the running pattern last year with all the mosp stings and whatnot. It was interesting though to watch everything unfold the way it was, proved to be entertaining in a very weird sort of way.

Interacting with: @Flash Holmwood @Thomas LestrangeHe didn't need to thank her for caring. It wasn't forced. It was part of her job to worry, to pester him with concern and doubt. At times it was sure to be annoying to deal with. He was a growing lad that was quite capable at dealing with things the older he got, but that wasn't to stop her. There were times even Falentra wished she had someone to look up to or run to when in need of a shoulder to cry on. She had Howard in the past for that, but this was more aimed at a friend. Some times a friend would see a different side to what a partner would. Flash did seem capable of such a thing, but she couldn't apply more weight to his shoulders; he seemed to have enough on them as it was.
His gentle touch had turned her force smile into a genuine one. The giggles, the rubbing of her hand and his Calming Presence had really taken an affect on her. He had even managed to get a small chuckle out of her too from seeing such a shy reaction. The night was starting to turn out to be a good one. That was until an unwanted guest made an appearance.
Lestrange had arrived after being, what looked like, semi-mauled by a lion. A perfectly good suit with a single tear had surely some meaning. To show a scar with some paint? Surely not. It wasn't an observation she made too much of a fuss over. Her brown hues gave off a look of disgust. She made sure to give him a quick look up and down before they set themselves back on Flash. She almost giving him the look and was about to question Flash on why Thomas had joined, but it seemed Lestrange had already read her mind. There was no way in hell that Flash had been asked by Thomas? Why-... Her brows furrowed at the thought of him bringing Flash into unnecessary business. If he lay a finger on him, she'd be bringing Thomas into the ring for round two.
The fingers on her free hand wiggled in sync as though she was tapping the air. Her attention was only brought back by the beaded-eyed Slytherin giving her a good look. If she wasn't pleased with that, she was yet to hear the worst.“It’s a great shame to see you without a partner. If I had known, I would have asked you myself.” What did he mean by that? Was that some sort of dig? Or was he messing with her feelings here? If it wasn't for Flash being present she would have probably had something to say. Though, it was to be noticed in her features that her cheeks had become red. Whether that was due to her anger bubbling or the so-called-compliment he made, nobody was to know.
Flash had broke the silence she created by throwing a casual dig the others way. A smirk grew onto her lips, observing Thomas' reaction to just that. Falentra gave Flash's hand a quick squeeze before looking down at him with a wink. It was a proud moment she was to remember.
It seemed the older boy was keen to take the other away for a private chat. Falentra didn't like the thought of Flash having to go off into the company of this literal snake, but she knew not to make a fuss of it just now. She gave a nod to Flash before releasing her grip. She couldn't however understand Lestrange's choice of words throughout their interaction. He 'hoped to see her again soon'? What was all this about? If she remember rightly, the last time they met, she was throwing punches at him from all directions, so why on earth would he want anything to do with her now? The thoughts lingered her mind while her eyes continued to follow the pair off into the distance till they were no longer visible in the crowd.
A small sigh left her parted lips as she leaned back against the wall. She wasn't all that bothered about getting a refill. Instead she would keep her cool and lightly tap her acrylic claws against the wall behind her while her eyes studied the crowd before her. Something was going to go down sooner or later.

Logan looked at Henry with a smile as he stuck close to her. She looked at the other two he had been talking to with a smile as well. She was here, might as well act happy. "Thank you Charm," she said happily leaning against the boy softly, "It was nice meeting you," she called out to the other girl as she left. She sadly wasn't able to catch the girl's name as she walked away. She didn't mind really though, as she wasn't sure about her thoughts on the girl.
Turning back towards Henry, she continued to smile as he mentioned moving on to a different area, as the drinks and food may have looked safer somewhere else. "I am okay with moving to a different area, as long as it is okay with the both of you of course. I just feel like this area is getting a bit crowded," she mumbled the last bit as she stepped a little close to Henry, attempting to wrap an arm around Henry to comfort the both of them. Logan wanting to make sure they were both okay with it before they left, waited for responses. Preparing to leave for the next location of the ball that seemed a bit quieter and maybe a bit safer.

"Wicked, maybe we could talk about the books sometime Al," Henry asked when he heard his friend also read the Percy Jackson Series. Before falling silent again as the area became consistently more crowded and the young teen felt himself becoming more uncomfortable and his anxiety start to increase.
The thirteen year old only nodded toward Aldor when he mentioned that Tory wasn't his date, which only made Henry feel more embarrassed and out of place. Thoughts spiraled around his mind and he felt like running but didn't. His feet remained on the ground and he was determined to stay at that ball with Logan and Aldor even if he did feel out of place and a sense of worry and panic did wash over him.
His emotions were hidden however behind the barrier as he gave Aldor a small smile and nod when he mentioned staying with him and Logan after Tory unexpectedly left.
"I don't mind if you stay Al," Henry spoke before feeling Logan lean on him a bit allowing the teen to move closer to his best friend which comfortable him a bit but he still had a uneasiness in his stomach, he still didn't feel like he belong there or truly fit in.
The thirteen year old would look around the room at the others in attendance, he watched the others around him and a part of him felt panicked or sick. Like he shouldn't be there, like he didn't belong there, like he was on a different side than the rest, he felt like he was watching from the outside.
Henry pulled his eyes away when he felt Logan's arm around him and words in his ear, naturally the young teen hid his emotions as he wrapped his arm around Logan and placed his other hand on Aldor's shoulder. Almost like he was trying to comfort his best friend and friend rather than himself.
"Moving to the next room sounds good, if you mates want to?" Henry asked both of them, eyeing them both as he would wait for both Logan's and Aldor's answer before moving to the Spring Festival part.
When he would move however if both decided to move with him then he would keep his arm around Logan, it brought him a sort of comfort and ease and try to walk beside Aldor as well.
Until then, the young teen would prepare to go to a less crowded and hopefully quieter area where he wouldn't feel.as overwhelmed and hopefully would relax because he did want to have fun that night with his friends even if his anxiety was trying to prevent him.

Action: Leaving to Spring Festival, chatting with friends, feeling out of place
"There's no such thing as strange creatures, only blinked people" - Newt Scamander
Blossom Ball - Underworld
rping as iNPC Maksim Preobrazhensky [x]
Dialogue in italics is Russian.
Want to see his outfit? DM me on Discord (it's a really rough sketch). As Maksim shifted his weight from foot to foot in front of the mirror in the boy's restroom, carefully adjusting the golden wreath that perched across his temples, his expression was uncharacteristically stony. What's wrong with you? he thought to himself, checking to make sure that his shaped hair would stay in place throughout the night. His hands flew to each part of his outfit, as if double-checking that everything was still there. You've been so strange lately. Out of sheer habit, his hand flew to his throat to seek out his father's silver cross. But, as he would remember as his fingertips grazed his bare chest, he had elected to leave the necklace in his luggage, as it clashed too violently with the gold jewelry adorning the rest of his body. Maybe it was because of all those nasty teenage hormones that he was feeling so queasy tonight.
I wonder what Kheanu's wearing, Max thought to himself idly as he left the lavatory to finally make his way towards the ball itself. He had intended on asking Mondelez to attend the Blossom Ball with him as friends, nothing more, but anytime he had tried broaching the subject, he found his tongue all tied up in knots. With that epic failure, he had resigned himself to either going to the ball with Dolf (which would still be a pleasant experience, if he had), his brother (which was unlikely, given that he had a girlfriend), or alone (which was sad). Luckily, he was saved from all of those scenarios by Ella, who had asked him to attend with her. Naturally, with his complete and utter inability to say no, a quiet "Sure!" slipped out of Maksim's mouth before he could even think about it. Not that he didn't want to go with her- Ella was sweet. He didn't know much about her, but she seemed like a genuinely nice person. There were worse people to attend a dance with.
Walking into the ballroom, Maksim peered around the older students and over the shorter ones to try and spot Ella. They had made virtually no plans as to a meeting place, or what, exactly, they planned to do with their time here, but whatever. It was a casual-ish dance and he was going with a casual-ish date. As he tried to pick out Ella in the crowd of bodies, he stopped by the drink table, grabbing a cup just to try to stop his hands from shaking so violently.
Finally, he spotted Ella talking to one of her friends (Gretel? Grace? Georgia?), and swiftly made his way towards the girls. "Ella, hello!" he exclaimed with a wide smile. "You look incredible, almost like you're glowing. Like a Greek goddess!" And she did. Was that weird? She was younger than him... no, it was polite. It was etiquette. He would also offer his arm to her, as his mother had taught him to do from a young age, but would relax if she did not choose to take it. "Man, there's a lot of people here, yeah?" he added, gesturing vaguely to the students with his free hand. Realizing that he had yet to address the other student by Ella, he shot his date a sideways glance before extending his hand towards Greta. If she took it, he would lightly kiss the back of her hand (since they were at a proper ball, after all) with a smile. "Don't think we've met before. I'm Maksim Preobrazhensky. You keep good company, hanging out with Ella! She's just a joy, isn't she?" The last part was less directed towards Greta and more towards Ella, paired with a grin that threatened to crack open into a smile.
Hey, if Ella wanted him to be her date, then he would be a good one. Turning his head away slightly so he didn't accidentally slam a cup into Ella's forehead, Max downed his drink in one go. Blossom Ball - Underworld

To say the dhampir had taken his sweet time? Well, that was an understatement. Kaegen made it a point to not show up when he was expected unless he really had to, it threw off those who could be lying in wait for him. And usually, that paid off. It didn't this time, as his ball escort had gone the way of the pepper sprayed. Still, he hadn't yet noticed that, had just entered the underworld. Kaegen was wearing a similar black robe, although he had been studying the lightworlders enough to know that a black robe was conspicuous. Still, he couldn't help admitting the practicalities.
To that end, the grey words "Ironic costume" were painted clearly across his back. Not too clearly though, not enough to stand out if he wanted to hide. But it was necessary camoflage. The mask strapped to the ravenlaw's face was of selim's own design, a rabbit mask. It was creepy and unnerving on it's own, but Kaegen was entering a ball. He was terrified. and to make sure he could still see clearly, he had widened the eyeholes considerably, opting to simply paint his face black. The only other alteration was a drawn-on smile, with a marker.
If you stared into the twin circular gaps presenting themselves as looking-holes, you could clearly see nothing but darkness, and two stormy-grey eyes with pupils that seemed to dance like some horrific shadow. Little red rings appearing nearly luminescent. They were hard to miss, if you bothered to look. And when a pair of first years noticed the ravenclaw's entrance, they hastily walked away, putting distance between them and the newcomer, but not bothering to actually leave the premises.
But he had a plan. He had it detailed, powerpointed, lined out, organized, set in a stone that would lead him to the top. For today, he would be a lightworlder. It was the best possible opportunity, regardless of how scared he was. and oh, he was very much scared
The ravenclaw tracked down selim a moment later, seeing just the very end of what seemed like an unfortunate encounter. He would not threaten the girl, just move on past quickly, headed towards selim. It wouldn't take him long to get there, either. People all over were throwing absolute fits. They seemed even more erratic than usual. Spells, maybe? Potions? Drinks at these things were usually spiked, weren't they?
Nearing selim, Kaegen accosted them with a voice much louder than what they usually used. It was grating, like someone painfully ill, sporting 7 shades of a sore throat
"Slayyyyyyy! You're looking fa-bu-lous!"
Was the fake enthusiasm more unsettling? Less? Who could say, but it was something Kaegen was actively working on. World-hopping to this realm, the realm of light. If he could travel between worlds, walk the planes, then what could possibly stop him? He hadn't seen selim get sprayed, and although he smelled the pepper spray, what it was was not something he was aware of.
