Chasers

As the clouds pushed further apart, two (well technically three) forces of nature would meet in in the middle of the pitch. @Howard White's hand would find the first quaffle and wrench it free from both @Evelynn Decipio and then @Anastasia Beckett. Though it was often flouted that two heads were better than one, it seemed that four hands wouldn't make much of a difference against Howard's un-deadly grip. Might would prove the prevailing force, Howard having given it his all, the young dhampir would go on to obtain the remaining two quaffles without putting nearly as much effort into catching them as the first one.

Keepers

No opposition or defense in sight, excluding perhaps dogged pursuit by Anastasia and Evelynn, Howard would do his best to make the job ahead of him look easy. Putting some serious distance between himself and the Gryffindor chasers. White's demolition of another three goals in such short order would have the crowd's boos ringing out from the stands in Gryffindor support, and cheers from the Hufflepuff sections would reply in an effort to boost his ego. Nearly always the fall proceeded the pride, and a game would prove no different this day. Whether aware of the target painted on his back or not, Howard would not be escaping this match unscathed.

Beaters

Ready for mutually assured destruction as ever, Scarlett lined up yet another shot, this time aiming to knock Howard from off of his high horse. With the wicked crack of her club the bludger whipped suddenly in his direction. Nearby, a second deadly bludger would meet Griseldis Edelhardt's determined swipe with a predictably accurate trajectory. Both would collide with the highflying chaser simultaneously, the force sending him hurdling to the pitch below as Scarlett's attack ricocheted, threatening to clobber Ethen.

Perhaps beleaguered by the many attempts on her teammates' safety, or just ready to give Aden the what for, Lindsey Springhall would come to Ethen's side once more. Smacking the everloving snot out of it, the bludger would surprisingly come screaming back at the one who sent it flying away in the first place. Shot fired, the bludger would bounce off of her skull causing a ballerina-like pirouette pattern of flight. Only after she dismissed the stars in her vision would Scarlett's senses return, having nearly been unbroomed in the process.

One person waited in position, prepared to save the day and perhaps even this game. @Annie Morgan would not see Howard as he fell from his broom. Nor would she see the bludgers as they struck him in tandem. Blind as she was, Morgan would not see if the dhampir lashed out for his own broom as he plummeted. She most definitely would not see the abject look of horror on the crowd's faces as the mood slowly turned to surprise whilst he landed on her broom safe and sound. Miss Morgan would feel the weight of his form burden her broom in no fewer words. The blinded hufflepuff keeper would most definitely feel his ragged breath on her face as he landed safely in her arms. Her big, meaty arms.

Seekers

Whether passing by for emotional support, or becoming directly involved in the grab while mid transit, @Ethen Emrys would catch up to the golden snitch shortly after seeing all three quaffles escape the young lionesses' teeth. The elusive game winning orb would gleam from close quarters, reflecting the brilliance of the sun, almost as if taunting him to reach out and grab it before it zipped away once more. With the quaffles safely in Howard's hands, Ana and Eve eating White's dust, and a timely save from Annie, Ethen's pursuit of the end game would only serve as an opportunity for his team should someone drop the ball. A capital opportunity best not left to waste.

Haley was cheering and despairing, she had drawn up her knees, rested her chin on them and put her hands around her head as she watched the spectacle in the air with her mouth slightly open. She watched Howard throw the first, then the second and then the third Quaffle through the unprotected rings and cursed him in her mind. Oh come on, you've got to be kidding me, she thought to herself, continuing to hope that her team could still beat those Hufflepuffs. "CMON LIONS!" she shouted, trying to motivate not only the team but herself.

Forty points, that was all they needed. Forty points. Four goals and they could close the gap between theirs and Slytherin's annual totals and at least prevent the snakes from seizing the Quidditch Cup. How hard could that be? Apparently horribly. Even with a second set of hands and Beckett being able to concentrate more on maneuvering the broom and Evelynn on the snagging of the quaffle, they couldn't manage it. They almost did. For a brief second, Evelynn felt the thrill of being able to tear the quaffle out of Howard's impossibly strong hands. But they just... couldn't.

It was a rare day that Evelynn felt defeated. But gradually, over the course of the game, that sense of dread began to weigh heavily at her core. They'd come out swinging. Player after player of the Hufflepuff team had been overcome and by all appearances, Gryffindor had the upper hand. And yet, they still couldn't manage to overcome the White Ace. With every lost quaffle and chime of a goal through the wrong set of hoops, desperation climbed. If this kept up, the perfect win record was going to be bleached clear.

All she could do was pray for a lucky break in the storm. That they could recover the season before Emrys closed in on the snitch. Otherwise, she wouldn't hear the end of it.

Howard was hardly the poster boy for obedience, but when it came to Quidditch he would never hesitate to follow his co-captian's directions. The goal was simply: score, score, score!! And so he would. Again, it wouldn't matter if it was ally or foe, Howard would not be denied. With ease he would gain possession of the first Quaffle and sink an easy, unattended goal, but when the Evelynn and Anastasia duo tried to interfere he would rip the Quaffle from their hands and proceed to put another 30 points up for Hufflepuff. Stinkin' Gryffindors, they ain't so tough.

CRACK! CRACK!

Howard spoke too soon. As he wheeled his broom around he would only have but a moment to gasp before two well placed Bludgers smashed into him. The combined force proved too much even for the mighty Badger. His fingers would slip from his broom as Howard plummeted to the ground below. He braced for impact, but just in the nick of time Annie would swoop in to catch him. "Thanks." Howard grunted through gasps of pain. His eyes would drift around as he awaited the signal for what to do next. Options were dwindling for the Huffles, but they wouldn't go down without a fight!

The tinkle of the quaffle never quite hit her ear, meaning Howard had kept it away from the goal. That made her job a lot easier. Instead, she hovered in the air more or less on lifeguard duty. The wind and rain weren't helping either as she tried to remain stationary and listen for a whack of a bludger or perhaps the scream of a falling teammate. Neither came to her so she was about to let out a sigh of release when a weight plummeted onto the back of the broom. A yelp escaped the keeper as Howard thanked her. Seems everyone was going to end the game with bruises or broken bones, but at least she could prevent anymore harm to him for now.

"Hang in there, tell me what you want to do I am merely transportation at this point." She hovered a bit more, trying to figure out what they were going to do next now that the team was about half the size it usually is. Gryffindor was relentless but maybe, just maybe they could pull this one out. Annie nodded her head and gripped the broom handle tighter, bracing herself against the storm. "All aboard? Hold on tight." She joked before zooming off, determination coursing through her.

A string of rather unladylike curses escaped Ana's lips as the Quaffle escaped her fingers. She had half a mind to blatch him before he could score but reconsidered. It ended up being for the best, since a pair of bludgers went flying at him and knocked him from his broom perfectly and without a penalty lap.

Disappointed as she was about failing to score, she shook it off and launched herself into her next moves.

Long story short, I survived

The lioness wasn't too aware what their score situation looked like so far since everything were going really fast and both Beaters were mostly busy trying their best to knock off as many badgers as they could.

Griseldis shifted her focus back on her previous target, the Chaser who once evaded her attack at the beginning. Her proud Beater partner made the first strike at the elder Hufflepuff Chaser, and she succeeded! And now it was her turn to give one more bludger to him. So Griseldis quickly took her chance without any hesitation before the Hufflepuff Chaser regain his balance from his last hit, she aimed at the second flying bludger right towards her target. She watched as he finally got knocked off his broom, but before she could cheer another Hufflepuff player suddenly appeared, and was able to save him.

"Aw man! Looks like we have to do it again.", Griseldis was a bit annoyed that their rival team still have safeguards around to save their fallen teammates. However, she understood that something like this would always happen. She first looked at Scarlett then turned to the other side to see her own teammates. Griseldis could only hope that her team could pull this through. It was their final game of this season after all.

Another hit towards the big Badger guy. By now, all of the action was blurring into one massive fight in her mind - or perhaps that was the rain, rendering her almost sightless.

Maybe Scarlett's euphoria from the last two wins had been getting to her head. Hopefully, the massive, heavy and painful metal ball slamming into her skull would knock it out. She briefly saw a flash of blonde hair - Lindsey. And they called themselves friends? Okay, this was Quidditch, and ultimately would do nothing to damage their long-term friendship, but Scarlett would always hold a small grudge about that one time her friend had whacked a violent iron ball at her head. She barely stayed on her broom, gripping the wood so hard that the possibility of splinters was looking very likely. Stars swam around her as she tried to gather herself to play. She barely had energy to talk, which was unlike her. That pesky little Lindsey-

At least if Scarlett fell, she'd be replaced with the insanely tough Kyle guy, down on the benches below. But for now, she was determined to fight on. Gryffindor seemed to be losing - from what she could see (which was even less than before what with the head injury), they were on 30 points and Hufflepuff was on 80. This was bad. She still didn't know what Decipio was doing but Emrys was making progress from her hasty deductions. An uncomfortable feeling grew inside her, but she steeled herself and continued on.

Her head hurt like hell. She would be seeing the nurse after this.

Akari pursed her lips together as she watched the Hufflepuff chaser score again and again pulling the Gryffindor team even farther behind points wise. Nevertheless that wasn’t about to discourage them, this could still be anybody’s game.
There was no doubt that both teams were quite the force to be reckoned with and it was truly turning out to be a fierce match.

Still very much on the edge of her seat with anticipation Akari couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

With each movement and turn of his broom, Ethen kept his gaze fixed on the snitch. He knew it would only take a moment for the elusive golden ball to suddenly vanish from his view. He wanted to do anything he could to help his dwindling team but he knew he also had to maintain his focus on the snitch. He had seen Atlas fall from the periphery of his vision and it had taken every bit of his will to not go investigate what had happened to her. For now he just needed to close what distance remained between him and the snitch and it took little time for him to pull himself within a reasonable range. He wasn't sure how much of his team had been hurt but he muttered a silent badger prayer that the remaining members of his team would get through the game unscathed.
