Drew took in a deep breath of autumn air. It was autumn here, at Hogwarts, and in the U.K. They called it autumn because it originated from some fancy Latin word and it sounded pretty and sophisticated.

Back in America, they called it "fall" because the leaves fell down.

One of many examples of the differences between America and here, Drew observed. He had been exploring a lot, and one of his last exploring expeditions, it had led him to meet a lovely little lady named Akari. He hadn't been able to truly stop thinking about her since their meeting. Her song that she had been playing on the piano had been mesmerizing and calming and her personality had been charming. She had just been plain adorable and everything about her interested him. He wanted to meet her again. Sometimes he thought he saw her, but it had just been someone who had looked vaguely like her. But it wasn't her. He had only ever met her once and she was driving him crazy. How could he meet her again? I know what you're thinking. But it wasn't romantic in any way. Sure, he thought she was beautiful and he couldn't find anything bad about her and he wanted to meet her again and he couldn't get her off his mind. But he totally, definitely, completely did not like her in a romantic way.

He was just... intrigued.

So it was on this particular day Drew was exploring the grounds, and had stumbled across the Quidditch Pitch. He had seen some players practicing and thought- why not watch them? He was sitting in the stands, watching the players zoom around on their brooms. He wasn't sure of the house that they belonged to, but he knew that they were good players. He did prefer broom racing himself, but Quidditch honestly wasn't that bad.

Akari raced outside of the castle at lighting speed only getting a brief passing chance to revel at the feeling of the crisp breeze hitting her face before continuing her expedition of bounding towards the Quidditch Pitch. She had only just remembered that there was supposedly a practice to be held today and was trying her best to go because she had the intention of being a part of the Gryffindor team she so she had decided to try to take notes from watching as many games as she could.
Yes yes, perhaps it was just a practice after all but Akari was quite determined to catch as much of it as possible, hence the sprinting.

She approached the pitch huffing and puffing like crazy, though exuded a sigh of relief as she saw that all the players were still there.
After catching a bit of her breath she then strolled on over to where the stands were to try to find a place to sit and observe. Once there her gaze searched the area for a spot when instead came across, someone else?
That was unexpected. Akari had almost been certain that she was going to be the only one there today. She stepped slightly forward, attempting to take a closer look at who had also decided to get a glimpse of the players in action, when she immediately began to recognize who it was. A smile spread across her face as she happily traipsed over towards him. It was none other than the Ilvermorny boy who she had recently met that time when she had tried her hand at the piano after a good long time. She had gotten along with him splendidly and wanted to speak with him again after that day, but unfortunately hadn't crossed paths with him so it really delighted her to see that he was here.

"Drew!" She called out as she enthusiastically plopped down beside him grinning and brushing all the fly away strands of hair out of her face.
"I wasn't aware of the fact that you fancy watching quidditch"

That's when Akari came along. She was out of breath from running, and had little strands of hair blowing in her face from the wind. He watched as she came up the stands and how her eyes lit up at seeing the people still playing Quidditch. Drew couldn't help but grin widely as she approached him on sight. They had only met briefly before, and he had wanted to have a longer interaction with the girl ever since then. Once he had met her, they had definitely hit it off, having such an interesting conversation. She was looking adorable today, no different than the other time he had met her. "Miss Akari Kato. It's good to meet you again." Drew sat up. His eyes couldn't quite be ripped from Akari now. She said that she didn't know he liked watching Quidditch. Drew nodded. "I love Quidditch. It's not as popular in America as it is here in Europe, but it is certainly very interesting."

He looked back to her. "I didn't know you were so passionate about it, either. You kind of booked it over here to see them play," he said in response, with a little laugh. When Drew had first met the girl, he didn't put her in the category of one to play or to appreciate Quidditch. She was small and young, and hadn't seemed the kind of person to be aggressive on the Quidditch Pitch like many other Quidditch players or fans were. But people had layers. Akari might look small and innocent on the outside, but she had a passion for Quidditch on the inside. Drew could just imagine her on the pitch, slamming into other players with the Quaffle and crushing their expectations of her. That would be absolutely amazing. Akari was a perfect example of why to never judge a book by its cover. "Do you play?" he asked.

The cheerful smile was still very visible across Akari's face as Drew confirmed that he did indeed have a liking for quidditch. She couldn't help but let out a small laugh along with him as she thought about how crazy she must have seemed dashing over here like that and especially at that speed.
"Well I just couldn't bear the idea that I might be missing something you know"
She said with a comical sigh, purposely overdramatizing her words as a joke while still laughing.

Her gaze then turned up to the direction of the players and watched them for a few seconds before nodding to Drew as a response to whether or not she played.
"Mhm, I suppose I play. Like not officially or anything though" She replied as all the admiration and desire she had to be one of the players were very apparent in her eyes as she continued watching them zoom back and forth across the sky.
"I really do want to get on the Gryffindor team. Part of the reason why I came here actually, I am trying to learn as much as I can before the tryouts" She informed him. After coming to the school and seeing for herself how marvellous each team was, she had had her heart set on becoming one of them and pretty much nothing was going to deter her.

Akari then quickly shot a glance towards Drew before returning the question.
"And you? Do you play?"

Drew chuckled a little bit, glad Akari was making light of the situation. That was part of why he liked her- as a friend, of course *wink wink*- she found the joy and the happiness in things that he did. She may have looked a little silly running over here, and looked a little silly now, out of breath, but it was all in good fun. There was no use worrying about things, was there? "Well, you didn't miss much, actually," he said, with a little smile her way. "I think now they're really getting to training."

Akari turned her eyes away from him to watch the players, and Drew supposed he should do the same, even though something was stopping him from really wanting to, which was strange. He seemed to have to almost tear his eyes away from her to look in the same direction as she was.

He could see the passion in her eyes as she talked about Quidditch, how she wanted to get on the team. "I haven't seen you play, but I can only guess that you would be a great Quidditch player. Here you are, eager to learn and watching others to pick things up. You're very smart. Good luck on the team," he said. He grinned. "Now I know why you wanted to be over here so bad."

The Wampus cocked his head. "Not officially, no. I like watching Quidditch and I like playing for fun, but I don't do a lot of playing myself. Once you get on the Gryffindor team, you might have to give me some pointers some day." He glanced to her with a smile. "Is there a position in particular you would want to have on the team? Or do you just want to play?"

"Thank you" Akari responded, very grateful for his words of luck. Perhaps if she was not already flushed a light shade of crimson from running all his compliments would have brought it out.

After feeling a small gust of autumn wind pass by Akari brought her knees up to her chest and then wrapped her arms around them all the meanwhile her gaze still not parting with all the players overhead.
"Don't get too ahead of yourself there" She giggled. As much as she wanted the spot she knew that there was always a chance that for whatever reason being a player would not be cut out for her, at least for the time being. Though not dwelling on that aspect for too long and trying to stay optimistic she replied with a small grin "But if I manage to, I'd be glad to give you a couple of tips". Then while quickly glancing over to him she added "However either way since you do already know how, we should definitely play together sometime"

In regards to his next question, she needed to pause for a few moments to contemplate her response. Yes, it would most certainly be an honour to just play on the team, but one of the positions had stood out to her a whole lot more than the rest.
"Well I guess mainly just play since it would be truly amazing to get any spot. Although, if I would get the option to pick or try out for something specific, I do quite like the idea of playing as the keeper" She admitted to him.

Since they were already on this topic, did Drew's school have a team? Despite the fact that she was pretty sure that she recalled hearing about it somewhere, he did mention that quidditch isn't as popular in America as it is in this neck of the woods, so perhaps they didn't?
"Wait, forgive me if this is a rather foolish question, but Ilvermorny does have a quidditch team, right?"

"'Course," he said, casting her a smile. It had been no trouble of his to offer her his luck. She probably deserved to be on the team. She was so pure, she deserved to be able to follow her dreams. He knew that for sure. She was still flushed a deeper color than maybe her complexion should be, so he thought maybe he shouldn't make her so embarrassed.

He smirked a little. "Don't get too... behind yourself..." he paused, looking up at the sky. "That's not a real thing people say, is it? I just made that up." He laughed a little bit, light and joyful. It wasn't a real thing people say. He was just being silly.

The Wampus looked out at the practicing players. "Yeah, we definitely should. Maybe we should get a few people together to play or something," he said.

Ah, an aspiring keeper. Keepers were very important players in Quidditch, and most people wanted to be seekers, just because of the fame and stuff. Keepers didn't get a lot of attention, but they were just as important as all the other players. Drew wouldn't mind being a keeper at all, manning the goals. "Is there a reason, or does it just sound the coolest to you?" he asked.

Drew nodded. "Yup, they do. I'm pretty sure a few years ago they played against Hogwarts at a summer camp. I'm not on the team, though. I'm participating in the broom race this year."

An idea came into his head. "Are you planning on going to the Fall Ball this year?" he asked her, curious.

Drew was able to put a smile on Akari's face quite easily. His lighthearted and cheerful demeanour was truly admirable. It was those people who whenever they entered a room everyone's spirit would automatically raise, and that really was an amazing quality to have.

"Yes! That is a great idea" She answered. Making a small unofficial game of their own with a couple of other people sounded like a lot of fun, and she was totally up for it. Maybe she could even get Jess to join.

Another good question came her way, though this one she knew the answer to right away. "It sounds the coolest" She grinned. She liked that being a keeper was a pretty versatile role and the pressure of winning the game wasn't resting fully on its shoulders, but just like every other position it still played an important and very interesting role, so, overall it sounded pretty cool to her.

Drew was a broom racer? She had no idea. While she did not know very much about the mechanics of the sport, she would most certainly still go and support it, even more so if she knew someone who was involved. Happy that she had a chance to sort of reciprocate the support that he had shown her, she spoke up. "Broom racing? Wow! Good luck is in order for you too then! Hopefully, I can come and watch"

Akari had to stop and think for a quick moment before she gave a small nod to Drew's next question. "Yes, I think so" She replied, though her tone wasn't completely convinced. She had been to a couple of school dances or balls here and there, but they hadn't really been her thing. However, since this was her first ball here at Hogwarts she had figured she might as well go and check it out. "What about you?"

Drew probably could get quite a few of his friends to join a game of Quidditch, though he wasn't sure exactly how they would gather it all together or if it would be allowed by the school. There were all kinds of statistics and stuff that Drew wasn't good at. Maybe Akari was good at it.

"That is, after all, the best reason to do something," Drew joked, glancing to his companion. Which book should I read? Whichever sounds the coolest. Which class should I take? Whichever sounds the coolest. What present do I wanna give my friend? Whatever sounds the coolest. It was a pretty general rule. You couldn't go wrong with whatever sounded the coolest. Because it was just cool.

Of course, there must be some exceptions to this rule. Like, should I do my homework or go vandalize some rich guy's house? Maybe do your homework in that situation. The exceptions were very few and far between.

"Thanks! I look forward to the race," he said, smiling. He did look forward to the race. After all, who could say no to a school-allowed race on broomsticks where people could cast spells at each other and there would be firm competition (especially from those Durmstrangs, they were so dramatic, so they would naturally be competitive, fighting for their honor and dignity and stuff). It was just exciting to think about.

"I'm fairly sure I will," he said, with a smile. "I already have a suit and stuff, and I wouldn't want that to go to waste." He felt a little nervous, for whatever reason. Which was crazy. Why would he, Andrew Lycan, masculine and confident and strong, why would he care about a ball, of all things? He was just being crazy. "Do you have a date?" he asked Akari, trying to mask the strange nervous feelings making his stomach clench.

She had seemed a little unsure about going to the ball in the first place, so one might assume that she didn't have a date. It didn't hurt to be careful, though, right? He didn't want to embarrass himself.

Ha. Andrew Lycan, being careful. What was this girl doing to him?

Akari nodded with a smile of course, as Drew confirmed his attendance to the upcoming ball. She truly hoped that it would be better than all the other school dances she had gone to, and though she couldn't help but have just a drop of doubt, she was still fairly certain it would be, since from what she could tell of this school so far, it was able to sprinkle a special touch of magic on everything, both literally and figuratively.

All thoughts including any of their previous conversation disappeared after hearing just one question. Do you have a date?
Akari's breath hitched as she looked down in her lap, staring at her entwined fingers.
She was quite inexperienced when it came to things of that matter and really knew nothing on the topic of dates and how they worked since never before had she really taken an interest in such things before. If she was honest she wasn't even completely aware that people were doing that sort of thing for this ball.
Wait actually, if she thought about it deeply, she briefly recalled perhaps hearing about it in passing, but it had not left much of an imprint on her mind. Well, that's a tad awkward, gosh she sincerely hoped that she wasn't the only one that hadn't already secured a date.

She cleared her throat quietly and then shook her head while she responded, trying to cover up her slight embarrassment to the best of her ability. "No, I-I don't... I suppose I hadn't really thought much about it"

Drew probably, most definitely already had one. He was super confident and extra nice, so surely some like him would have gotten a date long ago. It did not even make sense for Akari to reciprocate the question.

Oh merlin, save her from this worrisome state.
