Piper's words seemed to have the desired effect. The enraged girl atop her suddenly lost half her fire. Her face had suddenly gone blank, and she stared at Piper in shock as she sat there. Piper sat up, panting, as the girl rolled off of her. Maybe that horrible goody-two-shoes had never had anything real spoken to her in her life. The girl seemed to be processing what had just happened, face pale and expressionless as she rose from her spot. For a moment, Piper wondered if she had accidentally killed her. She stared the Slytherin down, challenging her to go again.

And then the girl grabbed her bag and left, slamming the large greenhouse door behind her. Piper swallowed hard. The damp air found its way up her nose as she also pulled herself up from the ground and brushed herself off, getting the hair out of her face. The girl had gotten Piper's back all dirty. Piper glanced at the crushed dandelions the girl had left behind and couldn't help but wonder if she should feel guilty.

Nope.

That girl had it all coming for her. She didn't deserve anything less. In fact, Piper had done her a tremendous favor in showing her that she didn't know everything, and she certainly didn't have the authority to boss Piper around. Piper figured she would tell a professor. Hopefully she would not get a detention. But, then again, the other girl would also get one for tackling her, probably. She would thank Piper later.

In fact, Piper thought furiously as she picked up her own bag, that girl would one day walk up to her and apologize for how wrong she really had been about the stupid homework. She would tell Piper that she was right all along, and that she had been a little brat at the time. The other first year would then give Piper a signed copy of her favorite book and tell her that she had truly needed someone to put her in her place...

Tearing herself away from the magnificent fantasy (of which many were recurring more and more often), Piper surveyed the interior of the greenhouse. A plant had been knocked off the table, and the abandoned watering can lay turned over. Piper decided she would even do Professor McTavish a favor and clean up the place, something the other girl hadn't had the courtesy to do.

Once the place was neatly cleaned up (and the crushed flowers left as they were in the other Slytherin's gardening area), Piper watered her withered dandelions as intended before.

She had won.
Piper has left the thread.
