@Falentra Black
The escapade for temporary freedom she had embarked on more than half a year ago was one Aurelia did not feel any regret taking. It gave her a glimpse into the muggle world, something that was discouraged in an aristocratic pureblood family like hers. The Gryffindor would be lying if she said that she did not enjoy the experience. It was a journey that led her to understand much more about the other world. They were people, just without the magical aspect.

However, now that she was back in the old Scottish castle, it occurred to the adolescent that her absence had affected more than just her family. As a fourth year, one would expect that the Gryffindor would already have made many friends and connections in the school. However, that was not the case. Although her connections were strong, her friendships were scarce but was not non-existent.

Falentra Black, a slytherin, a fourth year much like her. A friend, she would consider her to be, one who knew her by the flaws on her neck. One who, unlike the rest, did not judge her for it. A friend that Aurelia did not bother to inform when she made her disappearance. Upon catching up with the hectic events, Aurelia came to know that her absence had a greater impact than on just a friendship. As a victim of a crime, she was not present to testify her case which led to a huge political movement brought on by her attacker and subsequently a broken relationship.

A part of her felt guilty that she was not there. Even if she had been present, would she have stood up in front of many to reveal her secrets that she tried so hard to keep away from the light? But all she knew was that she owed one an apology - in her own way. Making amends, that was.

It was prepped, an empty classroom that she had cleaned out of dust with a wave of her wand. Spanned out on the floor was a large picnic mat, a few cushions splayed across and a picnic basket right on the center finishing the look. It was the perfect set up for a A date it was but not one she was attending. In fact, she had it all planned, such that even the two involved knew nothing about. She’d sent a letter to the Slytherin counterpart the night before, asking her to finally meet after more than half a year. There, she waited, legs tucked to the side gracefully as she lit a cigarette held delicately in between her two fingers with a simple wave of her wand.

When Falentra entered, she might notice that there was something different with her old friend. One being the colour of her hair which had a noticeable reddish tint and the next being the little cigarette. Other than that, there was a disconcerted demeanour she seemed to hold than her usual wary one. “It’s been quite sometime hasn’t it, Falentra?” Aurelia would say, when the Slytherin eventually made her appearance, her voice slightly raspy from the ash in her throat.

“I suppose you have a lot of questions?” Taking a last whiff, she would snuff out the flame with her foot. A soft ever-lovely smile would tug at the corner of her lips as she acknowledged the girl’s presence. “I heard a lot of things happened while I was away. Heinrich told me.“

Classes had long finished and the castle was somewhat of a ghost town. There wasn’t a student in sight as Falentra wandered the corridors. A night that would normally be filled with a casual stroll, a hope to find some chaos or some lost student that she could scare to cure her boredom would be replaced by a destination she had been given through a letter from an old friend. In most cases she would have scoffed at such a thing. It could have been some sort of prank, but a certain name was signed at the bottom, one that she hadn’t heard of in quite some time. She thought the girl had vanished, died, anything but be back at Hogwarts, so it had to be a sick joke. That’s what she kept telling herself anyway.

It didn’t take the Slytherin long to arrive at the location, now only a door keeping her from knowing what truly hid behind it. A hand rested on the handle though she stopped herself from entering. What if Aurelia was really in there? When did she return? What was she to say? Say hello like she had just seen her yesterday? Enter and hug her immediately or should she give her the cold shoulder and shout at her for leaving her without any notice? All these thoughts ran through her head but to overthink on it all so suddenly wasn’t going to help. She needed to go in first and see what really was in store before making such assumptions.

The Slytherin gritted her teeth as she entered, her eyes instantly searching the room before her. She had no time to think. Only her eyes set themselves on Aurelia who sat in the centre of the room that was filled with smoke. “Au-” Already she felt herself choke up. It was probably both the shock and smell of cigarettes that hit her all at once. It really was her, here in the flesh.
The Gryffindor may of changed in appearance, and picked up a bad habit along the way but those eyes brought Falentra back to when they had first met in the abandoned toilets. The Aurelia she knew was still there, somewhere.

For some reason Falentra was expecting the Gryffindor to be stood with open arms, like some sort of warm welcoming gesture. Why, she didn’t know. Like herself, she wasn’t one for hugs or for showing affection so freely for that matter. It was a struggle she could sympathise on, but she loved that about her. Though the basket of goodies, the blanket and soft pillows that surrounded Aurelia could of been an attempt at showing her caring side, Falentra’s attention at the moment was far from focused on that.

Falentra wasn’t sure how long she had been stood in the doorway for but it felt like forever. Part of her wanted it to stay that way in case she was just dreaming it all. She was to question herself once more, but as Aurelia piped up, Falentra was brought back to reality. This was real and her heart flipped with a mixture of excitement and rage. Her emotions had now come to life and she was able to piece together sentences without choking up.

“I-I thought you was dead...” Not the best of things to say to someone you haven’t seen in over a year, but deep down she had been worried sick about where she went off to. She followed by quickly approaching and stopping only inches from her face. Her hands rested on her shoulders, gripping her slender frame with quite a tight grip. Her emotions first would have been present through her actions but soon followed up with her words. “The fuck have you been?! You left without sayin’ anythin’!!” She spoke with so much anger but her arms naturally slipped around her neck and she pulled her into a tight hug. If the Gryffindor was to try and pull away so soon, Falentra would fight it and tighten her arms around her. “Really thought you was dead.” She mumbled it out again. Her head had buried itself the others shoulder by this point. It was a moment she needed. To have someone to lean on. Normally it’d be Howard, but it was obvious things weren’t 100% with them at the moment so to have her back at such a time, was quite perfect.

If she had returned the hug, Falentra would have pulled away after a few moments and taken a few steps back to give them some personal space. Another question was on the tip of her tongue but Aurelia beat her to it. She was to speak of Heinrich. A roll of the eyes was her only response to that and if anything he was the last of her concern. The only question she wanted to know more than anything right now was where she had been all this time, and why she hadn’t told her sooner about the attack with Howard. “Where have you been? And.. and your neck. You never told me... Howard did that...” A part of her wanted to apologies for what he had done, but at the same time there was always two sides to every story and while they weren’t together any more, she still couldn’t slag him off. She loved him deeply still and couldn’t imagine he did such a thing without a reason.

More than six months since they'd last come face to face. At the ball which she had one intense argument with her betrothed sent her to seek refuge back home in a fit of meotions. The attack on Heinrich happened only weeks after. Overwhelmed by emotions and driven by desperation, she had fled without a second thought. It was selfish of her, but she even if she could turn back time, she doubted she would have done anything differently. The freedom on the run would have been compromised if she did.

Unliked Aurelia, Falentra had not changed much over half a year. Perhaps she had grown an inch or two taller. The Slytherin's hair was significantly shorter than when she had last seen her. What Aurelia did not expect was for the girl to embrace her in a hug. At the contact, her body stiffened with alarms blaring in her head. The monster hunter was not one who was fond of non-consensual physical contact, this subconscious reaction developed ever since she had almost been mauled to deaf by a certain dhampir. Yet she would tolerate Falentra's embrace as she did of many Heinrich's.

Despite the warm gesture, the Slytherin's words, on the contrary, were full of frustration. Aurelia did not blame her in the slightest. Falentra had the right to be upset but so did Aurelia. As much as Heinrich was protective over his sister was Aurelia protective over her younger brother. Had it not been the headliner to prove it, Aurelia would have disregarded Heinrich's whines to be mere over-exaggeration. In the chaotic events in the great hall led by her righteous ex, Falentra had threatened her brother.

But aside from her own flusters, Aurelia was glad to finally reunite with Falentra. "I'm glad to see you too, Falentra. At least you didn't make him disappear too," her last words dripped in passive-aggressiveness. "I've been... it's a long story." she said. It was not that she did not trust Falentra with the truth but it was the fact that she doubted the Slytherin would understand.

Subconsciously, her hand would raise to her neck as Falentra spoke about her scar. Letting out a soft huff in dismay. Occurrences left in the past always found their way to the surface. Whatever uncompostable evidence that she buried years ago had all been dug up and served on the silver plate to the public. "The event has always been between us. It was extremely traumatic for me and I reckon it would have been for him too. To lose control, attack a friend. I'm not entirely sure, but I think I might have been the first he had ever bitten. It is not something I'd ever like to bring up but I'm sorry you had to find that out only amongst a crowd."

The most important thing right now was that Aurelia was alive. No scars visible to the eye had been added to her already large collection. Psychically, Aurelia seemed to be in one piece but a repeating trail of thought kept bringing Falentra back to when she had left the Ball that night. It was so strange and unlike her. Her nor Howard had done anything out the ordinary. Though now that she knew the past between Howard and the Gryffindor, she would have understood it more. On the other hand, had it been because of her partner, who in her eyes was a total twat, it would have made more sense. Falentra would have probably done the same, except leave her friend without a warning. Aurelia left her in the dark with questions she couldn’t even make sense of, let alone find out an answer to. So yes, Falentra was over the moon to see her long lost friend but she was also stubborn and to forgive her wasn’t going to be easy. A grudge was to be formed, something she’d hold on her, and use against her at some point in the future.

Now however, Falentra wanted to know the ins and outs of where the hell this lass had been. What was to follow in regards to that wasn’t something she wanted to hear. No, she couldn’t. It wasn’t going to be something she would just nod her head to and let it slide, to hell with that. A tougher approach needed to be given, since Falentra had caught on at the others own sly passive-aggressiveness comment.
“A long story? I think we have time to talk about it. You owe it me.'' Her tone had become serious at this point. The rare lovey-dovey side that Falentra showed had passed. ''And as for your brother.'' She paused. Was this next part really needed? Of course it was. It wouldn't be Falentra if she didn't throw out some unnecessary words. ''Well he's gonna get himself killed one day with a mouth like that. If he could defend himself, wouldn't be so bad but I always saw him cryin' and cowering away. You sure that weaklings your brother?'' The last sentence wasn't necessary but since Aurelia had threw in her own dig, Falentra only thought it was fair to give her it back.

The Slytherin was going to take a deep breath and try her best to maintain her anger. Aurelia was her friend after all and she didn't want to argue with her but with the build up of frustration she was experiencing, she couldn't help it. Especially when Aurelia continued on with what had gone on with her and Howard. Within the anger there were sure to be a hint of jealous. Howard and Aurelia, two of the few she could relay on never thought to have mentioned such a serious matter to her at any point. If she had matured, maybe she would have understood why it was kept hidden but she was still a kid and it was only natural for her to feel hurt.

The subject was one that needed to be talked about, but it came with words of hate. Falentra knew that at least. It was best if she took a step back for once and just listened to what Aurelia had to say. It was clear already that Falentra had said enough already, so maybe toning it down a notch wasn't such a bad idea. Aurelia knew she was hurt after all.

But. There was always a but. Howard may have not been her partner anymore but she was still loyal to him more than all and would defend him when he wasn't there to do so himself. ''Howard ain't a bad guy. What he did...'' Her gaze lowered to the ground for a few seconds, trying to find the right words to use next. It eventually made its way back to the other. ''It was wrong and I can't imagine how you felt. Nobody could. But people make mistakes... really bad ones. I-I saw the guilt in Howard's eyes. He isn't the bad person that everyone makes him out to be.'' Her eyes searched the others, trying to see whether any of this was making sense. It was a very sensitive topic that Falentra had to tread lightly. She wasn't there when he attacked her so couldn't 100% defend neither. ''He's temper is somethin' else, I can't deny that.'' She tried to sympathize with her. ''I mean, have you seen mine? I say stupid shit that I don't mean all the time. So can you imagine the fights we have been through?'' It wasn't many, surprisingly, but but she didn't need to know that. ''He hasn't hurt me once Aurelia. He isn't the person you saw that day. Please believe me.'' That was all she could say. Every word was true but she wasn't going to beg. If the other couldn't see past what had happened, Falentra would simply scoff and roll her eyes. It wasn't her fight and she knew she did what she could to try and solve the matter. Maybe it would be best to leave Aurelia and Howard to solve this one out, if they hadn't already.

Knowing her own parents well, Aurelia was confident that she would not have another opportunity to leave the premises when she did then. Left with less than a day, Aurelia barely had any time to think her options through, it was a rash decision. No time to send, much less write letters, the fourteen-year-old left without a note. Human curiosity was expected, the yearning to know about her whereabouts especially with all that had happened was present in Falentra's words. But it wasn't just her own story to share, it was Heinrich's too. "Perhaps, it would be a story best told some other day."

" Besides, there are better ways to compensate than with answers." With her hand slinking into the picnic basket, she would produce two muffins, extending one to the dark-haired
girl. "Heinrich... we aren't related by blood. He is still my brother regardless, he's has a different history where he came from. It's family matters." Aurelia explained. The matters of one canon pureblood family like hers, which too much aristocracy within that it was almost tiring to keep up with, was not something Aurelia would prefer to bring up.

Falentra's words were full of fervour defending on behalf of Howard. Of course, from what she knew, they weren't on prime terms as they had been when she disappeared. She would have been lying to say she was not envious of their relationship even if it was dented and scarred. "What happened was unfortunate for us both, an accident, I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I know he isn't wicked, I've seen worse individuals." Aurelia began responding to Falentra. Kaegen Deathmote she was referring to..

"However, the trauma from what happen was inevitable... and as much as I would like to believe its not his fault... " Her demeanour inclined to rest in a sullen tone. This was not something she would want to relive ever. "Actually, I knew him before he was a dhampir. Light hair, slightly tanner skin and blue eyes, far better looking in my opinion..." She trailed. Then her eyes locked on Falentra, "And would I dare say, cuter. " She was prodding at her old friend, she was testing the boundaries but at the same time, Falentra's reception to her words, lightly pushing at the buttons. Regardless of what she heard, she was sure there were remnants of feelings stirring inside of the Slytherin for Howard.

"It was only in the owlery when I discovered he changed... I'm not entirely sure how, but that would be a story he deserves to share on his own accord. We've moved past all that happened last year... until recently... seems like it crashed down for all to hear. I've met with him just a few days ago, just to set things right once again..."

Aurelia was too mature for her age, or so Falentra thought. As she listened to her speech, in which she presented within a well-spoken manner and with very little personality to go off. The Slytherin ended up giving her a small scoff of disinterest followed by the famous eye roll she gave. She wasn’t bothered about what she had to say. Not because it wasn’t right, or wrong, but because she never had anything to go off. She never raised or voice or became agitated. She just responded like some monotone robot that had no feelings. It was something Falentra couldn’t relate to in the slightest. She herself was always over the top and just blew up on the spot without thinking things through. It was definitely something she needed to work on, so what better way to start than one-wording her. “Whatever.” She replied with another eye roll. They quickly landed themselves down to the bag in which the Gryffindor rummaged through. Two muffins appeared in either hand, one which was extended out for her to take. She was hesitant, but accepted the gift by snatching it unintentionally and giving it a sniff. She couldn’t be 100% sure if it was spiked with something, so rather than taking a bite she kept it in her grasp for the meantime.

The Gryffindor decided to change the subject out of the blue. One of which was to be quite the touchy subject for Falentra. Her parting with Howard may have been old news now, but the wound she had gained from loosing him was still there. The girls eyes locked with her own which was enough for her to understand how she wanted this to go down. It was out of spite, not playfulness. Old friend or not, this was not something she was going to take so lightly.

“Shut it Aurelia.” She had nothing to say; no hateful words she could spew were coming to mind. Only the thought of Howard and the features she had described. Falentra wasn’t sure if it made her heart flip or ache. Whether it was the love she still held for him or the jealous of Aurelia being able to witness such a thing that she never could, she didn’t know. But it hurt. Especially when it came from a friend.

The bottom of the muffin had now become a ball of mush from the firm grip she had created to hold back her anger that slowly brewed. She was really trying her best.. to keep her emotions under control but there were just certain things that could not be contained. Aurelia herself knew that, else why would she have said such things?

Within the next few moments, Falentra had taken an angered bite of the muffin, though she wouldn’t chew or swallowing the piece. Her eyes had kept themselves locked onto the others at all time, allowing the anger to form more visibly for the other to see. A small smirk then formed on her lips. She suddenly spat out the mushed-up food in her mouth down at the girls lower body. Whether it succeed or not in catching any part of her wasn’t something she cared for. She couldn’t throw a bundle of words together that would sound cool, or clever. There were always threats and foul language, but when it came to Aurelia, it would take more than that. So what better way to startle her with something she wouldn’t expect. “Tastes shit. Much like what comes out of that mouth of yours.” Her eyes briefly broke contact and made their way down to the food before going straight back up to the others. A tilt of the head as if to say ‘yeah, and what?’ was thrown her way. Whatever the Gryffindor had to say after this, she didn’t care to hear it. She didn’t care if her actions were vile and inappropriate. The brunette started this all off and she knew exactly what buttons to press.

“You might have some people playin’ the violin for you when you tell them of your scars..and whatever the shit you’ve been through, but that ain’t foolin’ me…” She let out a sigh of anger, of sadness, before mumbling out the rest. “N-Not anymore. I’m done wastin’ my breath on you.” That was it. There was nothing else to say at this point. She said what she had to and so she leant back on one of her hands whilst the other rested on her wand that sat snug on her pocket, ready to use if needed.

That's it. A nerve was struck with the swift delivery of the words. The friction was enough to create a spark to ignite a flame that soon grew into a raging fire in the dark-haired girl. The pessimistic feelings were evident as a half-eating cupcake in mid mastication was spat out, landing on her lap. Despite that, her composure remained placid, save for the smirk that played at the corner of her lips.

It was not nice, what she was doing, a good friend meant to be comforting another after a tragic breakup, instead, Aurelia was doing the direct opposite. She was playing with the poor girl's feelings with words. Friendship, or romance, Aurelia, unfortunately, lacked experience in both those areas which could explain the apathy present.

With a swift wave of her wand and incantation, the cupcake and any evidence of its existence were cleaned off her apparel. "You haven't gotten over him, clearly." She stated so very bluntly. Granted, it was not the best way to approach her feelings like this. Aurelia would be a better friend only if she knew how to, but this was what she knew, and what Falentra have to deal with. Toxic, yes, a little, was an applicable word that could be used to describe Aurelia.

"Do you want to talk about it?"
