Interacting with @Tory Williamson
Anja smiled at Tory’s description of her home. “Your place sounds nice. You’re lucky to have it.” She knew Tory probably understood that. She decided not to play her turn for the moment, and instead looked back up at Tory. Despite her idyllic home, Anja couldn’t help but agree with the irony of their situation. “I’m sorry,” she said in response to Tory. “That must have been a difficult time for you. I remember, my mother just sort of turned a blind eye to my father, and when he left, she barely noticed.”

“I’m afraid I can’t help you there. I would just do the right thing. If he’s asking you to do something horrible, just don’t. It doesn’t matter what people think, or even if you get disowned or sued or whatever. It’s more important to do the right thing than what your father wants.”. Tory said. Anja laughed a little. She knew Tory was trying to be helpful, but there were some things about snobby pureblood culture she clearly didn’t understand. Even so, her point was a good one.

“I wouldn’t be getting disowned anyway, seeing as I’m barely ‘owned’ in the first place. Should both of my parents die, Ethaniel will be getting most of the money, and I won’t even get my ten pounds until I’m twenty-one.”
It seemed that one thing her parents could agree on was that she didn’t need — or didn’t deserve — her rightful inheritance, even if Ethaniel had simply up and left. She was too tired to explain that to Tory anyway. “My father — her wants me to lie for him. I mean, it’s not as if I don’t want to lie. I’m an excellent liar. I just don’t want to lie for him, especially when it’ll get him out of prison. I want him to stay there for as long as possible.” She pulled her notebook towards her and took a folded piece of parchment from within its pages, tossing it onto the table, she laid it flat then turned it for Tory to see. It read:

[ I was an excellent father ]
She remembered when he had scrawled the words onto the page. It was almost scarier that his writing was still perfect than that he had asked her to lie for him. Clearly, he had been keeping up with his old associates. The note served as a reminder of what those associates would do if she didn't carry out the deed. “He wants me to testify in his trial, which is coming up soon. I don't know how he managed to get it, but it’ll be over the Easter holidays, and I know I have to do it, even if it is just because of what his lackeys will do if I don't.” The rain pounded on the roof of the cabin. It didn’t look like either of them would be getting much sleep tonight.

“Your place sounds nice. You’re lucky to have it.” Tory nodded and smiled faintly. "Thank you, but I'm certain the castle I'm sure you live in is just as wonderful." She pressed her eyes shut, imagining what she thought somebody like Anja would live in. She, of course, was not assuming Anja's wealth or backstory based on the 1o minutes she had known her, but in Tory's opinion, the Slytherin gave off 'rich, pureblooded, Slytherin family with a huge mansion' energy. She opened her eyes and nodded slowly as Anja apolgizied for her father's death and mentioned her own mother and father, but didn't say anything.

When Anja laughed, however, Tory furrowed her eyebrows in worry mixed with confusion. "Did- did I say something wrong?" She asked nervously, her constantly pale-ish skin gleaming in the light of the fire, her straight dark brown hair barely moving as if glued to her back, her eyes glimmering with no emotion and a cloudy gaze over them.

“I wouldn’t be getting disowned anyway, seeing as I’m barely ‘owned’ in the first place. Should both of my parents die, Ethaniel will be getting most of the money, and I won’t even get my ten pounds until I’m twenty-one.” Anja said plainly, and Tory frowned. That must suck. "I'm sorry. That's uh- really sad." She wasn't the best at comforting people, so thank godric Anja was, as it seemed, not upset in anyway by her own statement. “My father — her wants me to lie for him. I mean, it’s not as if I don’t want to lie. I’m an excellent liar. I just don’t want to lie for him, especially when it’ll get him out of prison. I want him to stay there for as long as possible.” Tory nodded yet again, taking a breath before softly speaking again, her eyes fixed on a small square window next to the door, watching the rain flutter down in an almost calming manner."Another similiarity between us. We both appear to be great liars..."

She paused, glancing quickly at the note, her tone seemingly soft but actually more stern, "I don't know if this is how it works for you, but I was raised knowing how to say no to people. Or, well, sorta. Anyways, you should seriously just say no. If you don’t want to, then he has no control over that. He can’t force you. " She shrugged, and the rain that seemed calm and peaceful before was now loud and booming. Thunder clapped in the distance.

Tory got up from her chair, wandering around the cabin, looking at the decor. “He wants me to testify in his trial, which is coming up soon. I don't know how he managed to get it, but it’ll be over the Easter holidays, and I know I have to do it, even if it is just because of what his lackeys will do if I don't.” Anja continued, the lion contuing to pace, sighing to herself. What an eventful night, if she said so herself.
