The day only just begun with most starting their morning off with breakfast or catching up with friends in the great hall. That seemed like the norm around the school for pre teen and teenagers however that doesn't mean everyone was at the great hall. There are some exceptions.
Like a lone slytherin boy casually by passing the hall filled of chatter for another destination. The boy would emerge from the castles interior and start on his way across the grounds to the owlery.
The Scottish highlands wasn't has cold anymore like it been in the winter which made the trip far easier as well it didn't involve any slippery steps this time.
The boy would climb the steps to the owlery at a rather brisk pace with a orange feline following behind him. The two would enter the owlery and instantly be met with multiple owls all around them, although the cat remained by his owners eyes with amber eyes trained on the boy almost like he was watching.
Henry would scan the owls around the small room, looking for a school one before spotting one and smiling a little as he approached it. Normally he would have used his elder brother's barn owl to send letters to him unfortunately the owl didn't stay longer then a few minutes when she arrived two days ago. So the teen was forced to use a school owl, which didn't bother him as much as he originally thought it would.
Henry would carefully bring a hand up to the school owl watching it's movements before carefully but securely tying the letter to its leg. The second year would have to nimbly dodge the bird though when it spread its wings and flew past him to the window and started on it's way to Liverpool... actually London now, Henry occasionally forgets that his brother moved out recently that year.
The teen would wait a moment, leaning on the window ledge watching the sun reach out behind the clouds. Closing his eyes for a second and taking a deep breath, everything felt peaceful. For a moment that was until his orange feline; Loki decided he was bored of waiting and pawed at his ankle.
Henry would smile down to his cat and kneel down so he could starch behind his ears as he softly spoke" shall we go to the great hall then for breakfast?" Even through Henry knew his feline wasn't affectionate he waited for him to react which the cat did with a single short meow.
"I'll take that as a yes, if you behave at the hall then I'll get some bacon for you Loki," Henry replied softly to his feline with a small chuckle before getting to his feet and giving a small click with his tongue, a signal that he trained Loki to come to.
The boy started to walk toward the entrance of the owlery with his feline following him when a great horned owl flew in and landed on the window ledge with a letter in its beak.
Henry would have missed it if it wasn't for Loki coming to a halt when the owl first in and giving a few scared meows before the cat would move behind his owner.
Henry would eye his cat before looking toward the owl and recognizing it at once, it was his father's owl Apollo.
The teen wasn't use to getting letters from his father, recalling the man written to him once in his first year and that was to congrated him on getting sorted into slytherin and only sent two howlers to him in his second year so overall Henry wasn't looking forward to the letter.
The teen would approach the owl and hesitantly take the letter from it, watching it fly off as soon as its job was complete.
Of course you won't stay long enough for me to write a response
Of course Henry didn't even want to write a response to his father as he unfolded it and begun to read the words on the parchment.
Henry read the letter again and felt mix emotions grow within him. The teen wanted to know why his father would write the letter and send it, not to mention the contents of the letter.Henry,
I know we don't have a great relationship and I haven't really spoken to you about my engagement like I did your siblings. But with Anna's disappearance and Arthur moving out, I believe we should have a closer relationship. I want to start over, get to know and be the father that your deserve.
I know you probably will want to throw this in the rubbish bin especially since after I sent you a howler blaming you for your sister running away but just know Henry that I was angry at the fact and shock and wasn't thing straight. Your sister means the world to me and I was heartbroken when I found out but I shouldn't have sent that howler to you.
This summer holiday when you return from school it will be different. I promise, I want to change and be a better father to you and your siblings and seeing as were going to be spending some time together perhaps it will be a opportunity for us to bond.
Sincerely,
Your Father
He felt a sudden urge to scream or cry, maybe both? The boy would fold up the letter before shoving it into his pocket unsure what to think or believe at the moment.
A part him wanted to believe that his father really did change and wanted to get to know his youngest son but another part of him also believed that his father only wants to get to know him because his siblings weren't around anymore.
Henry felt like he needed to clear his head and decided against going to the great hall for breakfast, the teen would gently pick up his feline and carry him down the owlery and toward either the library or common room.
