A Silver Lining
”Oh, good. Is it alone?” Ileen stepped closer to Alan and tried to catch a glimpse of the poor kitty herself, but the branches were way too close to make room for her as well.
The young girl took a step back and pointed her wand at the Gryffindor boy as he started climbing. It was an odd feeling though not to be the one climbing since it was one of her favorite things to do when she was outside.
It was smarter to let Alan do it, she got that. He was way stronger and if something was up there to attack he was better suited to deal with it. “I got it!” She had secured way more dangerous climbs than this one and since then she had learned a bunch of new spells that could come in handy in case he fell or had to jump.
She peeked through the branches and made sure not to let the boy out of her sight or aim. “Can you already see it? Everything alright up there?”
She quickly looked over her shoulder to make sure nothing else was around to attack. Maybe someone or something had chased it up that tree and she didn’t intend to get eaten down here either.
“One of my cats used to climb on trees all the time and then pretended not to be able to go down anymore. He started crying and wouldn’t stop until someone climbed up to save him, just to jump down as soon as you reached him.” A sentimental smile appeared on her lips as she remembered the good old times back home. Home.
No, she didn’t want to go there. With a slight shake off her head she tried to get rid of this weird feeling. Home was here now. And it was important to save the kitty now.

A Silver Lining
"Yeah, it seems to be alone the poor thing," he would call down as he reached the cat, or rather a kitten. The cat still seemed so very young, so the fourth year cradled it carefully as he lifted it into the pocket of his hoodie, like he had carried Tiger so many times, as it would allow him to move freely and keep the feline warm and secure. He would began his climb downward. He was even more careful now as he let himself drop from branch to branch carefully, climbing with the speed of a graceful monkey, until finally letting himself drop off and hit the ground, feathering his jump by giving in with his knees a little. Now with both feets back on the ground he would allow himself to grin brightly at Ileen, "We did it, we rescued it," he chirped as he would carefully reach for the bundle of fur within his pockets and retrieve it, to display it carefully for the two of them to have a look at it. "She's beautiful, what should we do with her? Perhaps the nurse could check her health?" he whispered carefully, as he eyed the fragile creature, handing it over to Ileen carefully. But from his knowledge of cats, on the surface it just looked like a healthy, if not a little scared kitten. He was proud at the both of them for what little deed they had accomplished. "Do you want to name her, I think its a her, she looks cute," he whispered in awe as he would gently let his index finger pet her head between her ears and below the chin, making the small thing purr.

A Silver Lining
Ileen nervously shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she watched Alan climbing down the tree. She could barely see the tiny kitty in his arm, only grey ears poking out there here and then.
Relieved, she returned the smile of the older boy and glanced at the sweet animal herself. The cat was tiny, silver and grey, a great pattern on her fur. It touched her heart to see such a poor baby animal. “Yeah, you saved it.” She couldn’t add more. She had barely done anything but being with him. Slightly worried, she leaned in to have a closer look. “Do you think she is hurt? You are right, we probably should take her to the Nurse. Or at least inside and get her something to eat and drink.”
As Ileen spoke, a smile spread over her face. Animals just made her smile and this one reminded her so much of her former cat. Only now she realized how much she had missed holding a cat in her arms and caressing it. The cute little thing was so beautiful and fragile, she just wanted to protect her.
Her eyes darted back up as Alan suggested that she should name her. “I- I would love to.” Slightly blushing, she bit her lower lip. What would be a good name for her? Ileen tended to name animals after protagonists from books she liked. She had read a book about a girl lately, a very nice and brave girl. “Liv”, she declared and nodded confidentally. “Liv Silver. She’s a brave girl. And her fur is as silver as her name.”
Carefully, she reached out. “Can I hold her? Do you think... I can keep her?”

A Silver Lining
"I don't think she is hurt, but maybe let the Care professor take a look at it, if you are worried? I think she simply climbed up and then got too scared to go down again," he explained his theory, but did give the kitten a glance over to make sure there weren't any wounds on the surface such as a scratch or signs of blood. But he calmed when he truly saw nothing obvious as he thought at first. "I am sure we will get her taken care of and she will recover from whatever shock she went through."
When she named the kitten, the Gryffindor's eyes widened in delight, grinning at the neat name she had picked for the feline. "This Liv, is she a friend of yours?" he asked as he slowly made his way back towards the castle again, making sure she would be able to keep up. As she asked for the kitten, he would instantly hand it over, after giving it some last scratches under the chin.
"I mean if no one asks for her I would assume she is a stray? She probably made her way all the way from Hogsmeade if that is the case... poor thing," he muttered softly. "You would be a great cat mom, so I think you can take good care of Liv!" He barely knew her of course, but in their short interaction she had shown great care and empathy toward the cat, she certainly would be the perfect person to adopt this little kitten in need of a home.
