The vibes from the teams were slightly different. AJ and Alec seemed to be a constant wave of support towards one another as the dual progressed. The Ravenclaws, however, sent each other playful ribs about their performances. Something that elicited a dry chuckle from Santario as she watched the groups ready their wands at each other. The teams were split once more, Lions targeting Dealla, and the Eagles focused back on AJ.
It would not go as planned as the Law of Averages took hold of this duel. Last round, nothing happened, and in this round, everything happened.
Each round was roughly 6 seconds of everything happening simultaneously, making it hard to make sense of the order of operations at times, but here it was slightly more apparent, at least from the outside looking in.
Dealla would know in an instant that her wand had betrayed her again. Bright blue energy glowed dangerously at the tip of her wand, but instead of flying out at AJ, it was as if she had her wand pressed against an invisible wall as the energies reflected backward against her. Dealla was a powerful witch, and her spells were not weak. It would hurt, and she would stumble back, but she was still standing. Her stumble back is what allowed AJ’s Flipendo to sail past her; otherwise, it had seemed like the boy’s spell might have been on target. Alec, however, was on target. Dealla’s spell pushing her backward made her incapable of getting out of the way of his spell, and it slammed powerfully into her chest.
Pericles seemed as if he had been more than prepared to prove his fellow captain wrong about his aim. His determination and concentration left AJ with no chance of getting out of the way. Almost as if Pericles knew where AJ was going to move even before he had decided for himself. Pericles’ Flipendo would collide forcefully with AJ.
Both Dealla Prince and Allister-Jameson MacAllister flew backward off their feet, crashing into the ground behind them simultaneously. In the instant that their feet left the ground, Santario was on the stage, hand up. “HALT!” Demanding that the duel come to a momentary cease-fire as she waved up two medical teams. She stood in the middle between Pericles and Alec as she waited for the field to be cleared. Once the two captains have been safely removed, she would walk back to her regular place and look at the remaining two duellists before giving them a nod. “You may resume.”

The rounds had always gone so quickly. Alec made careful watch as the girl on the Ravenclaw team had her spell backfire. His eyes glancing back AJ's way. Did they really want to go on with throwing a spell her way? It didn't seem fair. At least not till her wand, or magic, Alec couldn't tell which it was. But whatever the case, just maybe the forces of luck, were on her side again.
When he saw AJ go through with it, Alec wasn't backing down. He took that as a signal to go on as well. Even if AJ's may have not hit as right, Alec's sure did. Forceful and everything. Yet not a crazy amount of power, nothing to the point of impressing himself. At least she'd gone down. “Hah! Yes, finally!” Alec said grinning, his verbal cheer however had been said too soon. As he noticed his fallen friend.
The yell of who'd been moderating the duel, for fairness and such, brought Alec back out of his head. Watching as the other two left. It was now just him, and a person who he assumed was not very happy with him. Alec readied his wand. He could do this, he could win. “Good luck, you guys were doing really well! You deserve to win if you do.” Alec said, he managed a smile the Ravenclaw's way.
Obviously he was totally going to beat him. Alec could be nice about that factor still.Action: Doing as planned.

Pericles did not have long to ponder over their target's laughter. With a final rush of spells, one lion went down, though he hadn't any time to be relieved either. His attention was instead snared by what was witnessed from the corner of his eye: Dee's spell didn't surge across the stage alongside his. It flared, and she was gone, swept back from his side to be sprawled on the stage. It was lucky that Santario called the duel to a halt. His whole focus flew after his partner, a sharp inhale drawn, gaze round and shining with shock. Peri promptly lurched after her, taking a knee and reaching to gently grasp and shake her shoulder. "Dee?" Then, more urgently as the reality of his situation sunk in, "Dee!"
The loss of his teammate would have been taken with greater dignity and stride had he not been fully convinced that her demise was his fault. He shouldn't have said what he did: it must have upset her terribly, enough to distract Dee mid-cast. Pericles fretted with such fraternal urgency that he was channeling a raw I'm sorry! You're okay! Don't tell mom! vibe. He had to apologize, but as the moderator's assistants arrived to cart her off to the hospital wing, it became clear he wouldn't have the opportunity. Not until the match was over. Lines of distress stood out on his pale freckled face, the scrunches and tension clear as day against his regularly serene countenance.
His head buzzed with worries: that he had offended her, caused her miscast, resulting in his faceoff with a duellist whose skill seemed to match his own more or less evenly. But worry slackened when he heard Alec speak, frown lessening as he resumed a combatant's posture. It was the first time he could recall ever hearing something so polite during a duel. A man of class! Silvery eyes settled on the remaining lion, briefly taken aback, then firmly earnest as he replied, "Likewise. You've both been an excellent match for Dee and I. Assuming I manage to land a spell or two, I should hope you won't hold any injury against me." Compartmentalizing his theatric grief, Pericles managed a grim smile, left hand arching up as he once again readied the aspen wand. The best way he could make things up to the Ravenclaw captain would be to win this in her absence. As strategized.

Dee wasn't a superstitious person. She didn't believe in silly things like bad luck brought by smashing a mirror, and firmly believed that if she'd been around in the time between the first and second wizarding war, she would not have been afraid to say Voldemort's name. And yet, sometimes, there were moments that seemed designed just to change her mind.
Pericles' comment had taken her by surprise, surely. It was unusual for him, returning her sass with a quip of his own, but it had been a good counter, enough so that it had a grin springing to her face although he'd just dug into her failures, into those backfired spells that she carried around with her like weights in every duel. She couldn't even be mad that he'd called her Dealla. She'd have to compliment him on it, show her appreciation, positive reinforcement and all that. After her next spell.
That was, of course, when things went wrong.
Dee had had her fair share of backfired spells at this point. Two during their first duel, quite a few during practice, but they had gotten rarer of late. She'd believed she was better in tune with her wand, her magic. Surely, one spell going so terribly wrong in a duel meant that she had filled her quota, that she was safe from it for the rest of it.
A smile still on her face, Dee barely had time to register the building sense of wrongness until the force of her own spell slammed into her, sending her stumbling backwards. The timing of it was absurd, surreal. The temptation to blame Pericles was there - he'd jinxed her, had conjured this event purely with his words, steered the universe down this path with a teasing remark.
But no, she thought, even as she saw the second spell coming and realised she wouldn't be able to regain her balance in time to dodge it, braced herself for having it punch into her. No, in the end, the fault was her own. Then the world went dark.

With Dealla and AJ removed from the field, the remaining duellists were free to unleash their attacks upon one another. Alec, keeping up with the team’s previous ways, donned Pericles with luck and tidings of deserving to win if the boy could, in fact, do so. Pericles would express the same sentiment before readying himself.
Neither boy held back as a blazing blue light ripped through the air towards the eagle, and a roaring fire shot its way across towards the lion. Neither spell would find its intended mark leaving both boys to start the next round unharmed.

Going into this round he had quite the confidence he was going to make it. Even if he didn't the harm was done, it was a fair one on one duel now. It was Alec who was to be blamed if this didn't work out. But he had a feeling even so it would work out somehow in his favor.
As it turns out it did? Depending on how you look at it? They'd both utterly wasted their time by miscasting spells, yet nobody had any true damage yet. This was going to be a fun time to deal with. Alec needed some luck on his side.
If not luck, he supposed the only thing he could do at that point was ready his wand. Trying to be comforting with a smile. A silent good job so they could focus and hurry on.Action: An action that was owled... Or will be

Group A: Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw
The showdown was already proving to be a proper challenge. With the lads pitched solely against one another, there was no ganging up on one target with both partners. Their skillsets were strikingly similar. Both had gone on unscathed, unfaltering, waiting for luck to lean in their favor so that the scales might tip. They simultaneously cast then whirled out of the way in tandem, dodging in equal measure. Pericles' face was settling into something stony, distracted, thoughts buzzing behind it. He and Dee had planned out many tactics, but he was less braced for the ones which didn't involve them operating as a duo. Should he stick to the previous plan, or improvise?
His choices were limited and exceedingly difficult to choose between. As strategized.

This was the round where the tides of luck changed, and it would seem in favor of the Lions. Who could say what went wrong on Pericles’ end as he levied his wand at his opponent and unleashed a barrage of bubbles. Maybe his wand was just tired of doing what it was told to do as the bubbles did not even go in Alec’s direction, arcing wildly and uncontrolled to the side. Alec might have had to move slightly to avoid a stray bubble, but he was in no danger of being hit by the effect.
Alec, however, did not share in the misfortune of his opponent. His wand listened and felt his intent on winning this duel coalescing into a rather potent blue energy ripping through the air and slamming into Pericles. It would knock the wind right out of his lungs as he flew backward, landing hard, drawing equal amounts of gasps and cheers from the crowd.
As Pericles crash landed to the ground, Santario took a few steps forward to observe, but it was clear that he was still moving and still capable of continuing the duel. So she quietly retreated back to her position without further interference.

Alec was careful to observe but in a moment of quickness went for a predictable spell. Unsure what else to do, the more interesting factor was how he'd made it. In a quick moment of putting as much effort into it while not at all being prepared. It was surprising how well this turned out in Alec's favor.
The Ravenclaw didn't however seem to have luck or tatsu on his side. When he'd tried to cast his spell, before Alec's last-minute effort. The Ravenclaw's spell seemed to have not gone as planned. Or at least hit alec in the right geographical sense. It didn't send Alec off course.
As the Ravenclaw was knocked down Alec's face couldn't help but scrunch up. He had to remind himself that this was all for training. He was here to learn. The Ravenclaw's strategies were smart, but were they enough compared to what Alec had been doing before? Or should Alec have chosen the other way around...
Alec set it to luck for the sake of his sanity. “I-er, hope you're alright...” Alec whispered, quite awkwardly. Even though he knew those words weren't much to say as he readied his wand. Chocolate in the hospital wing for the Ravenclaw's if both went down? Perhaps that was still on the regime...Action: Doing as planned.
