Maybe she had been too enthusiastic. Quite probably even. The young Slytherin had been too confident about her one goal, that could as well have been a lucky hit and didn't put as much effort into getting the quaffle again as she did before. And there she got it- The ones that tried harder got the better results. This gir from her dorm, Violet, she managed to get the quaffle a whole two times. And even scored, gettin team Hollythorn the first points of the game.
A girl from her team got the quaffle but failed to score... and there was Violet again. Damn, what had the girl sacrificed to get that much luck in return? Apparently not enough to make the points even again. James managed to defend the hoops against Violet's second throw. Opeila exhaled in relief. They were still in the lead... for now.
The second year sent an encouraging smile in both Everly's and James' direction, before she turned to find the quaffle again. Who... who had it now?
Opeila turned in the air, looking around. One goal couldn't be all she could do in this game, right? She was no professional quidditch player, not even that much of a good flyer, but were the others? Except for Bridget none of the people here were Quidditch players, right?

MODERATIONCecily was making a valiant effort to block out Ami’s candid commentary and focus on the match that was transpiring just meters from where she sat on her broom, but there were just some voices that were impossible to tune out. She rolled her eyes as she heard the Hufflepuff call out her name, not bothering to indulge in her ramblings with a comment about just how freaking cold Cecily was right now, even with gloves and a scarf. Instead, she turned her attention to the flurry of activity out on the pitch, watching out not only for fouls, but for her own well-being. It would be the worst possible start to the day if she was nailed by a stray bludger just a few minutes into the match.CHASERS-- round one --

Once again, it was the young Pitch Please Chaser, Emma, who would take off with the Quaffle before the rest, narrowly beating out Violet and tucking the ball neatly into the hoops just past Hollythorn’s Keeper, Rose. Another 10 points to Pitch Please, further solidifying the lead for the frontrunning team. As the Quaffle was sent back into play, Hollythorn’s Henry seemed intent on making up the lost points, grabbing the Quaffle well ahead of any other contenders once, and narrowly beating out Everly for a second grab. Neither time, though, would he quite manage to send it all the way through the hoops on the opposite side of the pitch. Perhaps it was Aurora’s yelling, or merely the unsteadying aura she radiated, that caused him to falter, failing to make up the 20 points Hollythorn was down.BEATERSBridget, Starlee, and Nicholas backbeat [+5 accuracy, reduced damage]

Bridget wound up for a backbeat, sending a bludger with deadly accuracy and power towards Kage. Although it made contact and certainly left a bruise, Kage wasn’t down for the count yet. Pitch Please’s other Beater, Starlee, looking to finish what her partner had started, swung her bat. Her eyes focused on Kage, she managed to whiff the iron bludger entirely. Perhaps momentarily distracted by her mistake, she didn’t have a moment to regain her bearings before she was sent tumbling off of her broom by a bludger of Kage’s own. She would find herself on the back of Opeila’s broom, who had been standing by just in case something like this were to occur, but she was not safe just yet. Nicholas had the same idea as his teammate. Likely not suspecting another attack quite so soon, the broom-sharing duo were taken aback as another iron ball collided into them, but kept a tight hold of the Slytherin’s broom, living to play another round.SEEKERS

Clarity, a moment of tranquility in a storm of confusion and emotions. The pitch was a place of uproar and of contest, a setting of battle and of conquest, passions ran high and self-doubt threatened to claim the inexperienced as a prize. Two missed shots in a row was the vessel in which that demon threatened to claim Nicholas, and it would have, had he not stopped to think, to collect himself. For a moment the boy was almost stationary upon his broom, perched as if a sentry overlooking a battlefield. But whilst his eyes saw, they did not fully process, truthfully he felt like he'd disconnected from reality for a moment. And in that moment he centred himself, brought himself back from the internal tantrums and spirals of despair to which he was so prone.
Down below, the game continued. His fellow Gryffindor, albeit one on the other team, successfully grabbing the quaffle and putting it past Rose and through the hoops. Nicholas felt for his dueling partner, the girl had been having the absolute worst luck as of late, and it seemed the scrimmage wasn't doing much to set aside that run of misfortune. Henry, for his part, appeared to have mixed luck, getting the quaffle twice, but both times failing to convert that success into tangible points. As a whole, they were a further 10 points in the hole. It was a deficit, but by no means insurmountable, especially given the particularities of a certain aspect of the sport.
But musings as to where the golden ball may be were not the concern of the beater, the bludgers were. As if struck by lightning, Nicholas was brought back to reality, the now-familiar sight of Bridget sending the steel ball of pain and danger hurtling into Suzuki reminding him that he had a job to do. The boy gripped his broom and dived, back toward the action. As he did so, the other beater sent a second bludger his teammate's way, but her accuracy was off and the Japanese girl remained entirely in the match. The battle was on, and Nicholas, for the first time, felt like he knew what he had to do. To her credit, Suzuki didn't falter either, the girl bludgering the blonde, her act of revenge succeeding where the initial strike had not.
Nicholas's eyes twinkled as he watched her fall, hurtling towards the Earth, a sick sense of excitement twisting in his gut at the idea. He didn't want to see her hurt, of course, but physicality was a part of the sport, and the more of the opposing team who crashed to the ground like angels with broken wings, the less danger Hollythorn would be in. It wasn't a pleasant notion, but it truly was a matter of his own comrades or the opponents, and he would choose his own ilk every time.
But instead of crashing back to the ground, the beater found herself saved by one of the chasers, the two girls now on one broom. Nicholas didn't pause for a moment, pushing the well-worn school broom as quickly as it would to carry him to the nearest bludger. He swung, he connected, and he smirked at the result. The girls were hit with a thud, and the boy's sense of elation at finally connecting overcame his raw guilt at having hurt another.
"There we go! More of that!" He found himself adding his voice to the chorus of shouting players for the first time, his earlier nerves well and truly fading away to give way to a peculiar sense of self-confidence.
There was something different about quidditch to dueling, the physicality of it all made it seem that much more personal, that much more brutal. And yet, in spite of himself, Nicholas was enjoying himself.
Such was the pride he felt that he almost missed seeing the two seekers dart off, in search of the golden ticket to victory. The snitch, it seemed, had entered play.Action: As Strategised

She had watched as the offending beater cocked her bat, and took a swing at the flying bludger- and watched in dismay as it flew towards her. This time, either her reflexes weren't enough, the bludger was too good, or her broom wasn't good enough. The bludger hit its target perfectly- her. A nice bruise.
Just barely managing to stay on her broom, Suzuki squeezed her eyes shut and opened them again, trying to ignore the pain. It worked.
So when the next bludger came around, she hoisted up her bat, squinted at the person who'd hopefully be at the receiving end of the bludger, and whacked it with all she had.
Yay.
The girl had been hit hard- she fell off her broom entirely, and Suzuki watched as she hurtled towards the ground.
So much for the excitement- she was quickly scooped up by another girl- a chaser or something. But trying to whack bludgers behind someone on someone else's broom probably wasn't the easiest thing to do.
Suzuki hoped that the next time the girl tried to whack a bludger, she'd whack the person in front of her on the broom's head off.
What excitement.
No sooner than had she thought that, the snitch was sighted.
Go team Hollythorn.

James had unhooked the rings a bit to fly further. It wasn't that Keeper's position didn't appeal to him, on the contrary, it was more the fact of staying static on a broom that was a problem. Besides, he was a bit bored. He was still watching the Chasers fighting the Quaffle to the goal of a Gryffindor from the blond's team. The latter couldn't help but smile as he shook his clenched fist.
- Yes!
The time to glance at the Seekers who must have spotted the little white ball, James was afraid when he saw Henry heading towards the goals of Pitch Please quaffle in hand. James tried to get back as quickly as possible, lying on his broomstick, to defend the goals without Keeper. The first year wouldn't have had time to arrive before the Slytherin but he was saved by a bludger thrown by a Beater. He couldn't help but let out a big sigh of relief. The boy finally returns to his goals, relieved, vowing to stay defending the rings until the snitch is caught.
With the little fright he had felt when he walked away, he had felt the temperature rise, which was visible thanks to his blushing cheeks, and took off his large gray sweater he had put on this morning, revealing the plaque. his uncle's soldier that James hastened to put under his green and black t-shirt, hoping to have a little freshness and freedom. He quickly made his way to the nearest stand to put down his clothes and told himself that he had to think about coming back for his sweater. Finally, he returned to his original place, in the middle of the three hoops, scrutinizing the movements of the players.

Instead of meeting him on the field to swap off save duty, Henry rejoined the game and was back at the ball, so Pericles elected to continue monitoring for fallers. Important as it was to catch one's falling comrades, it was easy to see the eaglette becoming uncharacteristically antsy. His posture was tense, eyes darting from the quaffle, to the bludgers, to the Seekers off in the distance. The opposing chaser managed to snag the ball before Violet, scoring past Rose, making him all the more anticipatory when Hollythorn relinquished it. Peri's spine shot straight as Henry obtained the ball, only to slouch some when it was fumbled, something encouraging muttered beneath his breath as though he might will good luck upon his teammates. A tiny crestfallen grimace tugged at the edge of his mouth when the quaffle was dropped a second time, then he steeled his resolve and sat tall again, hollering through cupped hands: "This isn't over, keep at it!" Then, with his best impression of ruthless bloodthirst, which wasn't all that good as he smiling while speaking with the fakest sadism ever, "Show them no quarter, Chasers!"Mentioning Henry, Violet, Rose, Kage, Nicholas, Starlee, Gia, Aurora, Hollythorn
It was with an odd elation that he witnessed Kage knocking an opposing beater from her broom- odd, as he wasn't exactly keen on violence, but the lad was clearly enjoying his first go at Quidditch. Though, that feeling was also batted down as a bludger collided with Kage in turn. Once again he braced himself to close the gap between them, but she was made of strong stuff, staying on her broom in spite of the impact. That looked like it hurt, too.... Nicholas followed up on her attack against Starlee successfully, getting in a good retaliatory strike. While she had been saved, at least she had to sacrifice her mobility. Coasting near Kage to be certain she was alright, he called out to both she and Nick: "You Beaters are looking especially barbarous today, which- by all means- I intend as a compliment."
A blur of motion: Gia was diving for what could only be one thing, and Aurora was following after. Realization jolted through him like a bolt of electricity. With one hand he gripped the borrowed Tinderblast, with the other raised a curled thumb and forefinger to his lips. Pericles had never been much of a shouter, but the boy would have warned his teammates pre-game that he could whistle, and a sharp piercing sound indicated to Team Hollythorn that it was time to shake things up.Action: As strategized.Reducio﴾ Stamina - 7 | Evasion - 7 | Strength - 4 | Wisdom - 8 | ArcPower - 8 | Accuracy - 7 ﴿

The Hollythorn’s beaters were on the roll. First, one of them hit Kennedy, it was a good thing Opeila managed to save her and let her rode the same broom as her. It was a bit funny, though. Not the ‘getting hit with a bludger’ part. Aurora did not know that broom could fly with two people on it. It almost looked like a motorcycle now than a broom. Before the Pitch Please’s seeker could take the relief of not losing a teammate, a bludger hit Opeila’s broom. “NO!”, someone with a spectacular ear might hear the seeker’s whisper-scream and gasp as she put her hand on her mouth. Watching someone got hit nastily like that was not a good sight, teammates or not. Being the strong and determined people that both of the Slytherins have, they managed to stay on the broom.
“Okay, they’re fine, now the snitch.” Aurora took a quick glance towards Adelard, and maybe she spots the snitch first so the Ravenclaw could just follow her. And it turned out that the Gryffindor did spot the snitch first. Aurora tried to find the snitch herself before following the other seeker, as soon as she saw the shiny small ball just annoyingly flew in the air. If the snitch could speak, it will probably say something like this, ‘Catch me if you can, Pitches!’. Then the young eagle or raven flew to its direction in full speed, and of course, with another scream,
“YES, SNITCH PLEASE!”

Another chaser sped towards Rose. She was determined to catch the Quaffle this time. She had to contribute something to the team, after all! She couldn't just be dead weight on a broom not doing anything for her team but hover by the goalposts. She was supposed to be a player, not some kind of... bystander. Which was exacty what she felt like she was right now. She was just observing the game, just sitting there. She had to do something. The keeper on the other team was actually blocking the Quaffles! And he looked more like a first year. Rose didn't even know his name, but she was jealous of him. He was able to actually do something. Rose was sure that if she wasn't here, the game wouldn't have changed at all.
Rose kept her eyes trained on the chaser, and tried her best to intercept the Quaffle, but failed. Rose scowled at herself as she barely missed the Quaffle going through the hoops. Merlin, she was so useless. She growled to herself. Her eyes traced the red ball as Henry picked it up twice. "Go Henry!" she shouted across the pitch. He seemed to be overcome by nervous energy both times, and couldn't get enough strength behind his throws towards the hoops. Rose gave a small sigh.
They were still thirty to zero, and Rose was sure it was all her fault. Because it was! If she had just been able to block the Quaffle from going through the hoops, they would be ahead by ten, not behind by twenty.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a sharp whistle from Pericles. She glanced around the field. The Snitch had been found.

After dodging those initial two bludgers, Starlee began to feel confident in her quidditch abilities. Heck, should she drop dueling and join quidditch instead? She confidentially twirled the beaters bat as she left Aurora's side, watching as Bridget sent a bludger flying at one of the beaters, crashing into directly into them. They looked pretty beaten, perhaps if she sent another bludger at them, they would be out! One less beater aiming for Aurora, definitely a good thing.
She found a bludger ripe for hitting, and wound up her bat just as Cash had showed her. She could hear the second year yelling in the stands, cheering her on, and she wanted to do them proud. However, just as she went to hit the little iron ball, a wave of unease came over her. She missed the ball by miles, and she scolded herself. 'Come on... get your head in the game!' There wasn't any time brood on her miss, as suddenly she felt the impact of a bludger in her gut, tossing her off straight off her broom.
She yelled as she began to fall, down, down, until someone appeared below her, catching her before she could hit the ground. She grasped tightly to the broom with everything she could, finally situating herself behind Opeila. "O-Opeila... Thank you..." she managed to say as she was still breathing heavily from the adrenaline of the fall. She was still in this.
Her confidence was again shaken as not moments later, a bludger collided with the pair, a second bludger for Starlee. It seemed they really wanted to take her out. They both held on, but Starlee was feeling pretty battered at this point. Her sides ached, but she was doing her best not to show it. This was nothing compared to the multiple broken bones she had earlier in the year. "You okay? I'm still holding on... lets do this." She said to Opeila, not only trying to hype her up, but herself as well. She wasn't ready to quit yet. She couldn't let them down.

Where she'd failed before, now she succeeded, her backbeat at the opposing Beater landing. Especially with the sacrifice of some of the force in favor of a more accurate shot, it wasn't quite enough to knock her target off. That was part of the plan, though, and she watched with anticipation as Starlee wound up for her own backbeat. It missed. Bridget sighed softly; it would have been beneficial for their plan to work, but misses happened to everyone. This was also a scrimmage and they were playing for fun; getting frustrated at one's teammates, for whatever reason, wouldn't help anyone.
Besides, there was no time to wish Starlee had been a bit more sure in her swing because, with a crack of a bludger, she was knocked clean off her broom. Instinctively, she flew towards her, yet it was clear she wouldn't be able to get there in time. Opeila, though, dutifully following the plan, was close enough, cutting Starlee's plummet to the ground short. With barely enough time for the two to get seated on their shared broom, another bludger came, impacting brutally. Still, they held on.
That had to have hurt, and being forced to double-up limited how much ground they could cover. All the same, it was good they hadn't lost anyone. Just as she was strategizing their next moves now that things had been shaken up a bit, Aurora's screeching threw a wrench in those plans. Turning, it was immediately clear. Both Seekers had seen the Snitch.
