Starlee was getting irritated that her shots kept missing. Perhaps it was the girls' age and practice that made the first year's spells so easy to dodge, she didn't know. What she did know is that she had to keep on holding on and she had to get a spell to hit. She continued mentally saying the mantra Cash had yelled out... 'Come on now, just shake it off... shake it off...', hoping she would be able to finally overcome it.
But alas, the second year dodged her spell again and Starlee wasn't prepared to dodge the spell coming after her. She felt a powerful force knock her back and suddenly, her eyes closed as she lost consciousness. It was up to Illowy now.

Group B: Gryffindor vs Slytherin
Everything was finally starting to pick up... just not the way she wanted it to. Her jinx missed just barely, Choi managed to dodge Starlee, Walker's failed, but Choi... made the final blow for her partner. Illowy winced as the first year was knocked flat on her back and didn't get back up again. That was it. She was on her own now.
The snake took a deep breath, making a mental note to check up on her partner after the duel was over. Pale eyes flickers between her opponents, wand twirling through her fingers effortlessly as she formulated her new plan of attack.
As her wand came to an abrupt halt and she regained her ready position, Illowy reined in her focus; hardly about to allow these two to think they'd get the better of her.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Illowy was obviously not one to back down from a duel easily. Despite her two opponents being fully healthy and alive and ready to pounce on her, she would continue fighting. In Willow's opinion it was one of the hardest things in duelling. When the odds are stacked against you, summoning the willpower to continue on. Illowy's determination was something Willow admired. With a renewed strength, possibly at the sight of her fallen comrade, Illowy sent a strong Wind Jinx at Calanthe. The young cub was struck with a strong gust of wind that would surely be affecting her the next round too.
Both Katrina and Calanthe now had no choice but to go after Illowy. Katrina was still having a rough time but this time her spell had managed to leave her wand! It just... didn't hit her target. Calanthe however made up for it, casting at the same time Illowy did. Her Levitation Charm went off without a hitch as Illowy slowly rose from her spot on the podium about a meter off the ground. It would surely be hard to dodge from this elevated spot despite the great vantage point. How long would Calanthe hold the spell? Only she knew.
Truly this was an exciting duel to watch for Willow!

It would not take being blasted by a flurry of wind for Calanthe to be wary of the power behind a duelist’s last stand. Yet the wind jinx scrambling her senses was a painful reminder of falling to the badger’s barrage of spells. The snake had turned her wand on the Gryffindor after failing to land a hit on Katrina. She was unsure why the sudden change in target occurred, but she did know that it would take more than a wind jinx for her to fall again. The consolation was that Calanthe seemed to be holding her own this time around sans the failed fire spell. Even through the snake’s distracting guise, she was able to levitate her target. Turning her gaze to Katrina, the younger lion tried to meet her partner’s eyes to confirm their next move.

In a moment where Illowy ought to feel a swell of pride as her jinx struck the underclassman, instead her felt her stomach drop a bit, her feet leaving the podium as she was lifted into the air. Merlin knew she'd been in this predicament before, her first duel in fact. Funny how things always seemed to come around again. This time however, she'd hardly let her face show how much she detested having her feet anywhere but on the ground.
Absolutely not, as far as she'd let them see, this was all going perfectly according to her plan, and this wasn't about to sway her. A small smirk played at her lips, a show of assurance that they weren't able to get to her. She just needed to keep her mind off the fact she was in mid-air for who knew how long.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Katrina was slightly distracted, or at least that’s what she told herself. An excuse for another failure of a spell. She couldn’t afford to keep messing up like this, they needed this to work perfectly.
Calanthe was successful in her endeavors. Katrina met her gaze with a short nod and a hint of a smile. Now it was down to Katrina to get this next move.

The duel seemed to be progressing in a rapid fashion than it previously was, but not in Illowy's favor standing alone against two Gryffindors. Calanthe was focused on keeping Illowy afloat just above the ground, and she was successful. Willow had never maintained a spell well, to her it was harder than the initial casting. Having to maintain the thought and only that thought. Maybe she could ask Calanthe for some tips after the duel, would that seem like moderator favoritism? She didn't know, but if the duel was over then maybe not? This wasn't the time for daydreaming! She had a job to do!
Illowy attempted to fire off a spell at Katrina, the Tongue-Tying Jinx specifically to make it to where Katrina's ability to say the required incantations would become a lot more difficult than before. While the spell went off without a hitch, Katrina was on her A-game and easily dodged out of the way. She responded with her own spell, the dreaded Disarming Charm that all duellers dreaded (at least, Willow did). It succeeded and struck true and Illowy's wand went flying out of her hand, disappearing on the pitch. It would be a hot second before it would be able to return to her hand.

Concentration felt like an itch, gnawing at the back of Calanthe’s head. It was an entirely new experience. Sure, there were brief memories of practicing the spell, but every one took place in the Charms classroom where levitation did not last longer than three seconds. For her, at least. Now, the Gryffindor was holding a human body up in the air and her brain felt the brunt of the burden. But Katrina’s gaze and subsequent success in her disarming charm was enough for Calanthe to keep going.

Due to an oversight about mechanics in using a combination of the Levitation Charm + Disarming Charm, the mod is on hold until the Duel Moderators have come to a decision about how to proceed. Because of this I'm also putting the due date on pause for moves + posts since how we proceed may affect how y'all move forward with your strategies.
