History/Background Story:
It wasn't a very remarkable day that Iris Zarus was born in Lincoln, England to one Anita and Nikolas Zarus on the 1st of November, 2008. Anita had been born to the name of Reed in 1984 and attended Hogwarts, a Ravenclaw like the majority of her family. Nikolas, however, was born in Romania to the Zarus Family in 1983. He has an older brother named Alexander, both of whom attended Durmstrung. For the first five years of her life Iris would run carefree through the store that her mother and father owned. On one side the store would hold potions and ingredients, while the other held small magical creatures to be sold as pets. This was the raising of a carefree little girl who would soon ask far too many questions. However, on the 18th of December of 2012 her mother fell ill, having fits of chills and fever. After being diagnosed with Ague her mother decided that she would drink a potion, Cure for ague. Unbeknownst to the family the potion had been brewed incorrectly or with unclean tools. This mistake was lethal, causing Anita to cough blood before she ultimately died in front of her husband and a very young Iris. Iris, in shock of watching her mother die in front of her still tried to wake her. Nothing she did seem to help, and as she cried over her mother her father finally decided it was best to remove the child from the room. His attempt was thwarted as, when he touched her shoulder to usher her out, he was pushed back by a force similar to the disarming charm. At first Nikolas was unaware of how to react, crushed by the sudden death of his wife, yet ecstatic that his daughter proved to have magic readily flowing through her veins.
By the age of seven Iris finally showed signs of coming out of her depression due to her mother's death. She became more fun loving, setting up pranks around the shop that her father would intentionally fall victim to, little to her knowledge. She began to look through her mother's belongings, slowly falling in love with magical creatures and the potions that her father would create. When she received her letter from Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she was initially anxious as she knew little of the school, not having a living relative that would tell her stories of their time in Hogwarts. Upon arrival to the school she has been sorted into Gryffindor house and is anxious to learn all she can about her deceased mother's school years and about potions and how to become a potions master.
Appearance: At age 11 she stands at 3'9". She has wavy, long light brown hair and dazzling green eyes. She has the same pale complexion of her father and is noted to be very thin. Iris has long, thin fingers and often wears jumpers, scarves, or the occasional cloak she steals from her father when she isn't wearing her school uniform.
