Darcy Adair has pale skin and long, straight medium brown hair streaked with copper highlights that she usually wears down, falling over her shoulders. Her facial features are not exactly sharp, but she always looks slightly disapproving, as if she is scrutinizing you (which she most likely is). Her eyes are almond-shaped and hazel, framed by dark lashes. When she smiles, it is not usually with her eyes unless something is truly amusing or she finds it fit for her to give attention to. Darcy is quite short and of smaller than average build, but despite her unassuming stature, she gives off an air of superiority that can make even the most confident person falter.

Darcy is a girl who knows what she wants. She is stubborn, outspoken, and many (if they dare) would call her snobby. She is easily offended and has many strong opinions. She enjoys being in charge and has no problem telling people exactly what she thinks of them, whether it be good or bad (it is usually the latter). Her temper is fiery and is often turned on without warning. Darcy is not much of a people person but she can change her attitude in the blink of an eye if she thinks it will benefit her. She claims she does not believe in unnecessary friendships, but deep down, she may be the tiniest bit lonely, though Darcy would never, ever admit that to anyone.
In her free time, Darcy enjoys shopping, traveling, and playing with her family's cat, Neva. She claims academics are "a waste of time," but she does okay in school despite that. Darcy Evangeline Adair was born to Meredith and Nathaniel Adair on December thirty-first, 2008, in Manchester, England. Her family resides there at the Adair Estate. Both her mother and her father are pure-bloods whose family bloodlines can be traced back for centuries. Her mother was a Gryffindor and her father a Slytherin at Hogwarts. Darcy is an only child and quite spoiled, and because her family has quite a bit of money, she basically gets whatever she wants.
Before Hogwarts, Darcy had never attended a public school before. She had been homeschooled and tutored so she wouldn't be forced to interact with the Muggles. Her parents are often away traveling on business, so she learned to be fairly self-reliant at a young age, though there are always people to watch over her.
Darcy's closest and pretty much only friend at home is Clarissa Donovan, a pure-blood girl of her age. Their families are quite close, both in physical distance and in friendship, so they see each other often. Darcy has made her more than her fair share of enemies but tends to be left alone once people encounter her temper and demanding personality.
Darcy was seven when her family got their first and so far only pet, Neva, a mild-mannered white Persian cat. Darcy fell in love with Neva at first sight and she cares for her more than she does any human being. Though Darcy doesn't like other animals, she found that cats, with their calm demeanor and intelligent behavior, understood her more than anyone else ever could.
When Darcy was a little over the age of eleven, she received her Hogwarts letter. Her parents, of course, were thrilled, but Darcy wasn't sure how to respond. It was good that she was going to Hogwarts, because there she would learn all about magic and the Wizarding world, but she would have to be around other people 24/7, and share a dormitory with girls whose upbringings were probably less than exemplary. Nevertheless, though, she went, hoping that the other students were more civil than she had imagined.
The spring after Darcy turned nine, she was sitting by the fire in her room after supper, finishing her schoolwork. It was a cold and stormy March evening. She was freezing and miserable, so she moved closer to the fire and held her hands out in front of it, trying to get warm. Before she knew what was happening, the flames had disappeared from the stone fireplace and consolidated into one small flame the size of a pencil that rested flickering in Darcy's palm. Naturally, she screamed, expecting pain. But it didn't burn. In fact, it wasn't even hot, just slightly warm. She sat there, staring at the tiny fire on her hand for a few minutes, not knowing what to do. Eventually, she carefully held her hand over the empty fireplace, and the flame slid back in, lighting the logs on fire so it looked like nothing out of the ordinary had ever happened.
