Determination Quidditch Gryffindor v Hufflepuff

Annie had been biting her nails the whole time. Every time someone whooped or booed she jumped. While waiting for a run down by Ami she tried listening to the announcer. The only thing she picked up on was Rafa- a Gryffindor chaser scoring three times. It seemed Hufflepuff had taken on a very aggressive start as Atlas wasn't at the hoops. Howard had to take a penalty lap as well as Piérre and it seemed people from both teams were also sharing a broom from some gnarly hits, Quinn on Atlas's and Evelynn with Anastasia. They seemed pretty evenly matched except for the few point lead. Annie muttered a prayer and kept her broom next to her leg, her knee bouncing up and down in anxiousness.

While Haley sat on the bench and shouted a last time "Go lions!" before the game started, her nervousness did not get less by the minute. Quite the opposite. Excitedly, she followed the game with her eyes, trying to take in all the details and not miss anything. By now she was sitting on one of her knees, caught up in the excitement. She started cheering when her team captain scored the first goal for Gryffindor. And the second, and the third. "Yes!" she shouted happily, unable to contain her excitement.

But the Hufflepuffs had it in for their Seeker and Haley slapped her hand over her mouth as she watched Evelynn fall with wide-open eyes. But luckily for her, Anastasia arrived in time and relieved, Haley let herself fall back. Again, she sat up, nervously bouncing her legs and continued to give her attention to the game.

Alan was surprised that he and Rafael had to face no threat from the other team as they both went for the Quaffle grab. Though the captain had way better success, though Alan knew it was because the younger boy had a lot more training in this and possibly a lot more to prove due to a reputation he had to uphold. He would go on to score thrice for Gryffindor, making Alan throw his arms in the air to cheer @Rafael D'Spacito on. But he wouldn't celebrate for long, as he had to draw his focus back to the game. The other team now seemed behind on points and their possibly biggest threat was now sharing a broom which would minimize their effectiveness. He dared to say that it was going splendid so far.

As the game started, Stanley felt his knees bouncing up and down ferociously. His nerves had gotten the better of him. Again. He brought a hand up to his soaking wet hair and moved it out of his eyes not wanting to miss anything. Blinking rapidly, he thought he eyes had deceived him. His captain and the Gryffindor seeker had both fallen from a great height only to be caught by team mates. Stan rubbed his eyes and looked up again to notice he wasn't delusional and it had actually happened.

Quickly, he crossed his arms and huffed when Gryffindor had scored three times. Stanley had really thought that Hufflepuff would be focusing more on the quaffle than they did in their last game, which was not at all. He let out a shaky breath and tilted his head up. Hufflepuff would be sure to win. They just couldn't lose. Not this time.

Taking her starting position in front of the goals, Atlas inhaled steadily through her nose and out through her mouth as she made note of her competition, her eyes darting between each Gryffindor player quickly sizing each of them up hoping to see a weakness she could expose. Deciding at the last minute to abandon her post, Atlas effortlessly leaned forward on her broom racing out onto the pitch as she saw Gryffindor take possession of the quaffle and race towards her goals.

Scrunching her nose and biting down on her tongue, Atlas knew she was leaving it open for them to score unhindered but there was a feeling building in her that their opponents weren’t going to play easy. Keeping a safe difference from her teammates to not interfere, the young girl’s eyes were once again darting across the pitch as she tried to keep track of each of the Hufflepuffs.

Seeing Piérre corkscrew aggressively caught her attention as Atlas’ eyes dilated noticing he was headed in Quinn’s direction. Her captain appeared to be slightly unfocused as she leaned forward bursting through the air as she watched the two collide, Quinn, wobbling for a moment before plummeting off of his broom.

“Not this early…” Atlas mumbled as she dipped, picking up pace as she caught Quinn on the back of her broom extending her arm behind her to grab him as he got situated, her arm straining with the force of his fall and the resistance from the wind fighting against her. Jerking her broom back into the air, Atlas heaved a sigh of relief as she felt a feeling she had never experienced in Quidditch before.

For the first time since joining the team, Atlas had been able to save one of her teammates. Her heart shook her chest as she gulped looking back to Quinn for a moment, a smile glistening her face. “Gotcha!” She yelled playfully as she let go of him sure that he was focused enough to hold onto her broom. It felt alien to have another person sharing her broom as she adjusted to the added weight and balance but every Hufflepuff strength glowed inside of her as she realized she was capable of helping people not just being a destructive force.

Keeper's Catch
Effect: 10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a teammate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Welp, Griseldis did expect that it would not be an easy start, and she got to admit that the Hufflepuffs were mostly nice but on the Quidditch field they would be "Beasts"! She kind of knew that they would target their seeker right away, if anything, she did not really expected that they would be that "aggressive" already in the first round and used the Parkin's Pincer with the help by the other two Hufflepuff Chasers. Her heart almost stopped when they succeed knocking Evelynn off her broom, but of course, they were always prepared to have someone to save her.

She also watched their dear Keeper, once again trying to avenge their fellow teammate and decided to blatch one of Hufflepuff's strongest Beaters, Quinn. Not to anyone's surprise that he would be saved as well by their own teammate. Griseldis was slightly unhappy when she missed hitting the other Hufflepuff Beater, she really needed to train her aiming more in the near future. However, that still wouldn't discourage her. Giving up or sulking were not in her dictionary. It wouldn't be fun without a challenge after all and Griseldis was never a fan of easy games anyways. It only got started!

The game kicked off, and pretty much as soon as they flew into the air, Scarlett stopped worrying about everything. Quidditch was just flying, catching, scoring and hitting balls at other people at its core. She could do that. She was one of the first to start, spotting a rogue Bludger and zooming towards it, smoothly whacking it with her bat and sending it whizzing towards some older Hufflepuff with a dark glare. He was hit right in the shin with a painful crack.

"EAT MY DUST!" yelled Scarlett, flying and swerving in the air. Annoyingly, there was no reaction from him. Yelps of pain let Scarlett know she was doing her job properly. But it wasn't over yet - her bludger had hit and was rebounding off the guy's shin, right to Lindsey. Lindsey, however, smoothly avoided the metal ball of doom. "Can't have it all," muttered Scarlett, just as Gris aimed a bludger at the older Hufflepuff. However, he seemed to be ready and evaded just in time. "There's always next time!" she remarked, hoping that she didn't sound too peppy as she spoke to Gris.

After, Hufflepuff Guy and some other Hufflepuff players decided that taking down Decipio would be the best course of action. They succeeded, but Beckett dove in and caught her. Scarlett let out a sigh of relief. She hated Anastasia's guts but at least Decipio was still conscious. Pierre managed to blatch the massive Part-Giant Beater, though he was caught and had to fly a penalty lap. The Beater was caught by another Hufflepuff.

All of a sudden, there was a massive clap of thunder and it started to rain. Undaunted, Scarlett flicked the droplets away from her eyes. Rain couldn't stop Gryffindor from winning.

The game had begun and already, things were getting exciting. As the third year's dark eyes darted about the field, she saw her best friend score several times in quick succession. Not a bad way to start the match."Nice work, Rafa!" she called before her focus shifted.

The rather intimidating Hufflepuff boy (Howard) that Ana vaguely recognized was hit by a bludger from Ana's least favorite person (Scarlett), and promptly knocked Decipio off of her broom. The thunder crashed and cracked rather spectacularly as Ana dove for her red-haired teammate. The girl's heart seemed to leap to her throat as she wasn't certain she would make it in time. She did catch the other girl though, judging by the added weight behind her.

"You alright?" Ana called. She could hardly hear herself think, what with the storm and the noise on the pitch, much less speak. The rain began and Ana was drenched. Lovely, absolutely lovely...

Well, that was not a bad start. Pretty decent actually. Both teams had begun with a rather strong first play. Other than the Gryffindors pushing forwards points wise, both teams seemed to balance out, having each knocked one player off their broom. Akari’s eyes darted back and forth across the sky, taking in every single move. Then, all of a sudden out of nowhere, a cry of thunder which was then proceeded by a streak of lightning painted the sky overhead. Akari’s eyes widened at the sight. Oh no... now really was not the time for such storms...

”Oh you’ve got to be kidding me” She grumbled in a tone of slight annoyance. Why now?... The weather gods certainly weren’t smiling down upon them today.
