A girl's brows scrunched, the end of the quill hanging out of her mouth as she hummed a tune. How to start a letter, much less this sort of letter. Her foot tapped the floor in rhythm and she paused getting a thought. Taking the quill out of her mouth she awkwardly tried to write on a piece of parchment.
Dear Callie,

Hey Callie!

First off, I want to apologize if my handwriting or spelling is messy as I am writing this myself and Godric knows how long it's been since I've held a quill.
She lifted her quill from the paper and crossed of the places she thought were unnecessary before brining it back down to continue.
I wanted to thank you for attending the Valentine's event with me even though you didn't plan on going. Although I couldn't see the stars I'm sure you shone just as brightly as them if not more so.

Annie cringed at the last sentence she wrote and decided to strike it out, although it was still very visible. She huffed and continued on.
I hope you had fun and I wanted to give you something to remember that night, I love astrology and especially the stars, I find them calming so I stumbled upon this and thought it would suit you.
She withdrew a small silver moon and star necklace from her robe pocket and laid it next to the letter she was writing. Annie shifted back to the letter again.

I know it's small and simple but that's what I like about it. You are the moon, a bright, one of a kind person and I am the star, I will always be around you to comfort you or make you happy no matter how far away or how small I am. I hope you like it, and if you don't that's okay too.
Annie sucked in a breath and crossed out the last part. Of course it would hurt if she didn't like it, but it wasn't her say. She definitely didn't want to pressure her into liking it or wearing it. She nodded, setting her quill down for a last time.
Before I conclude this letter, I was wondering if you would like to accompany me to the Blossom Ball? Of course, this is not the most formal way of asking but I would turn into a giant, awkward puddle of stuttering if I did it to your face. I won't be able to assure your safety if something bad happens, cause something usually does but if you light my path like the moon I will be right by your side like the star. If you say no, that is okay as well and if you do decide to end up going alone I hope to run into you, although hopefully not too physically hard I wouldn't want to knock you over.

Take care my little Moon

Hope to see you at the ball,

Love Annie

After receiving Annie's pleasant surprise in the mail one morning, Callista took her time with the reply. She wanted to make sure that everything she said in her owl was perfect. Although, this came at the cost of several nights spent thinking about the owl. The house-elves that cleaned their common room would no doubt find the charred remains of several pieces of parchment - the result of a frustrated Callista.

Annie's letter had been sweet, and the necklace included was thoughtful and quite pretty. As for the invitation... Callista knew her answer at once - but how to phrase it?
Dear

Hi Annie,

Hey Annie,

The necklace you gave me is incredible! I appreciate the thought that must have gone into it. I actually wanted to give you something too.
Sitting next to the first year on the desk was a small bottle attached to a thin string, which will be included in the envelope.

It certainly isn't as fancy as the necklace you gave me, but I made it myself, and even though you won't be able to see it with your eyes, I hope you think of me whenever you wear it.

Valentine's Day this year will no doubt remain in my memory forever as a night spent in good company with lots of love, and I'll cherish it forever.
Cringe. Way too cheesy for a casual letter to a friend... Callista crossed out the line with her quill, but the thin, straight lines that crossed it were certainly not enough to disguise the words.
I had a lot of fun on Valentine's day with you, and I definitely don't regret coming with you. So thank you for asking me! If you hadn't, I would have stayed in the common room all day, and it wouldn't have stayed in my memory the way it did this year.

I adore astrology as well! I will definitely wear your necklace every day. I promise to uphold my part as the moon and always be around to make you shine brighter. You are the brightest star in the night sky, and I have faith that your light will never go out. And even on the days when you feel like you're on the brink of doing so, count on me to be there to bring it back.
She paused. Was that too cheesy as well? Just when she was about to toss this draft in the fire as well, she decided to keep going. It wasn't a declaration of love or anything, so it should be fine.
I would absolutely love to go to the Blossom Ball with you! I've actually wanted to ask you to go with me ever since I heard about it, and I've been tossing and turning at night thinking about how to approach you but I haven't had the courage to. I'm looking forward to seeing you; I'm sure you will look splendid!

Lots of love,
Calli
The following morning, Callista went up to the owlery and sent the letter with the bottle, nervous but somehow elated that Annie had asked her. There was something so irresistible about Annie - how could she ever say no?
