80 + 100 = 180 Dmg to AJ
At least to Santario, it was evident that poor AJ was the punching bag of this duel. As she watched the match, she wondered if his targeting was due to the fact that his partner looked like he was the nimbler of an opponent. It would make sense to take the person down first that would have the least chance of dodging their advancements.
While the flames slowly eating away AJ’s robes were small, Alec turned his wand on his partner, successfully playing firefighter Alec put out the bigger of the two fires as Aj reached up to remove that blindfold. While he had still been able to see with it on having his normal range on vision restored was much more ideal.
Dealla and Pericles, however, had no interest in giving the Lion’s Captain any reprieve whatsoever as they both turned their wands on him again. The dual Flipendos careened his way, and while he evaded Dealla’s Flipendo with ease as he discarded his blindfold, the second sent from Pericles would collide right with his chest. Perhaps, Pericles had felt the need to make up for his past, not as well-aimed spells.
AJ had been blindfolded and set on fire twice; now, he was half wet and just had the air knocked out of him. The cherry on top of the sundae that was AJ’s misfortune was the now very angry burn biting at his skin one final time before sputtering out.

It was a little scary how well their strategy played out, the two flames AJ had to fight with triggering the expected effect. Despite how used many of them were to flames, Hogwarts kids as a rule weren't cruel. They weren't likely to see a friend, or even a stranger, on fire and just let them burn - few were that cold, Dee usually wasn't. It was odd, however, how duelling shifted those priorities. Extinguishing the fire she'd loosened upon AJ didn't even cross Dee's mind.
Alec, however, did exactly that, turning towards his partner to relieve him of one of the flames, which meant one less spell cast at Pericles or her. She didn't have to look at her partner to decide their next move - both their wands were still aimed at the Gryffindor captain, although they now switched spells. If it went as planned, the distraction fire provided wasn't necessary anymore.
"Flipendo!" But her aim was off, didn't even come close to hitting AJ, who easily managed to get out of the way. Peri's aim, however, was much better. The Gryffindor was once more showing that he managed to prioritise logic over instinct, letting the other fire eat at his clothes and burn out by itself while he focused on getting rid of the blindfold, but this also made it easier for Pericles to hit. Not that he needed the advantage. Still, even with that additional hit, AJ remained standing.
"Nice aim," Dee observed, a little peeved that her spell had gone so far off target, then called a little louder across the stage, "Next one will be aimed better, just so you know!" Her voice was light, teasing, unaware of how badly their choice of action had been received by the other side, and that this duel might have ruined any chances of AJ growing to be a friend.

Pericles was off his game. His initial Incendio missed, where the following Obscuro and Incendio clipped, only half efficient as they were intended to be. The fourth, Flipendo, found its mark. Nothing like a trusty old Knockback Jinx to get one feeling in the swing of things. Only, the pause which preceded the spell suggested something was on his mind. Regarding the righteous fury in those now uncovered blue eyes, then the care with which AJ's partner managed to minimize the harm done to him, he couldn't help but feel he and Dee were heralded as the heels of this match.
Peri was far from sadistic. Why had he joined the duel team in the first place, let alone become a co-captain, if he was leery about hurting anyone? To overcome that aversion to inflicting harm? To grow stronger at spellcasting, so to better protect himself and his peers? To earn his father's praise? There was no time to stew. Dee was an ideal partner in a number of ways, chief among them because she helped him to remember that this was an exercise in strategy. There was comfort in tactic. The stronger their ability to stick to a plan under fire, the more ready he would be in the face of the next emergency. There would never be a shortage of them here at Hogwarts. "Thank you," he answered the praise for his improved aim, sounding decidedly satisfied, shrugging off those lurking hesitations. The live piste was not the right time or place to start questioning one's decisions. Dee's playful taunt tugged at one corner of his mouth. She enabled him to be relentless, to find the fun in it all. Whatever the outcome of this duel, they could apologize after with chocolate frogs. Maybe some burn paste. As strategized.

Alec kept repeating the fact that they had practiced in his head. Even as he realized things were not turning out so hot. Things were not going in their favor at all. They needed to get things done, and quick. His fear was AJ and how long he'd last. Alec had earlier been the one to end up being the last on their team to stay up and on their feet. The problem was. There was always two big scary duelers right in front of him as he was all alone. Alec had to assure himself things were fine. They could do this. Still too much in his own thoughts to remember saying good luck. He got in position and readied his wand in hand.Action: Doing whatever is to be sent by owl

AJ's vision began having occasional blurry spots as he struggled to stay focused. He was in quite a bit of pain and though it would've been easier to just lay down and concede rather than keep going through this. He refused to be the only Lion to ever give up a fight.
He felt some of the flames die down as a cooling mist sprayed over him. He looked over to his teammate, now that his vision was unobstructed and nodded gratefully. "Than' yeh Alec." He said with a weak smile. "Tho' ah thenk yeh mee beh on yer oon agun soon unuff."
He hated that he was always the first one out. It was a mark of shame upon his record, but it wasn't like he could do anything about it now. So he just stood up straight, swallowed his pride and prepared for what came next.
Sticking to the plan.

Each team was ready as the air became thicker with anticipation, each team having one person already damaged even if one was a bit worse than the other. Both teams seemed to focus on one person from the opposing team. Gryffindors choose Dealla. What made San’s brow arch up in curiosity was the fact that Ravenclaws turned their wands on Alec instead of taking the opportunity to try and finish AJ off.
Every spell cast this round had been cast almost perfectly, and as it turned out, everyone’s capability to evade was also perfect. Two streams of bright blue energy sailed towards Dealla arcing in sync allowing her to dodge both of them gracefully.
Alec would have a similar experience as he effortlessly dodged the strip of black cloth flying towards him. A brilliant roar of fire erupted from Pericles’ wand, but instead of going for its target, it seemed to flow too far to Alec’s right, making dodging it seem a bit of an overkill.
By the end of the round, the four duellists would find themselves no worse for the wear if not a bit more frustrated at the final outcome.

The reprieve they'd had, both of the Gryffindors busy getting AJ back into duelling condition, was clearly over. Her teasing warning across the field had gone ignored, but that was fine - she couldn't fault anyone for choosing to focus on the duel instead. Pushing down her annoyance at her spell having missed, Dee turned her wand on Alec, hoping to catch him off-guard, just as both AJ and Alec did the same, changing their attention back towards the Ravenclaw team.
"Obscuro!" With her focus on the spell, determined to avoid another backfire, Dee almost missed what was coming: Suddenly, she found herself facing two wands, two spells to come, pointed at her. Her eyes widened, the priorities suddenly shifting from landing a hit towards pure survival. If both of those made contact, she wasn't sure if she'd remain standing. Her heart sped up, a rush of adrenaline to her brain.
But her reflexes were fast enough. A few quick steps, a duck on instinct safely carried her out of the way, although at the cost of her own spell going awry, easily avoided, just as far from hitting Alec as the Gryffindors' spells had been from hitting her. This was fine, however - as long as Pericles made use of the fact that he'd been left alone for a moment, had taken the opportunity to properly aim-
Pericles' spell went so far off target it might as well not have been aimed at Alec at all, and Dee paused, staring first at where the stream of flames had gone past the Gryffindor, then at her partner. "Well," she said dryly. "Guess I have to take that compliment back, hm?"

It had been a rough round, no doubt. But everyone was fine, even though the waiting game was again rough. Nothing had been exactly successful yet Alec was fine with it. He'd dodged quite well, and AJ was here with him. What was the chance AJ would stay along with him? Alec wasn't sure, but he hadn't wanted to wait that round to find out. They seemed to be going the more though out route rather then direct damage.
Alec liked the thought process. The moves were incredibly well played. By instinct however, no matter how well Alec wanted to play. He was just going to do the first thing that came to his mind. Whether incredibly well planned, or incredibly stupid. Alec was in it for the long run. They were going to do this, they could make it.Action: Doing whatever to be sent by owl

Yet another Incendio. Pericles was almost certain that these past few minutes set a new record for the number of times he had cast the fiery spell. Another wave of heat, though to his chagrin, it missed its mark by a regrettable margin. A thin sheen of sweat was wiped from his brow with a hasty swipe of the sleeve. As he raised his wand once more, trying not to think about how nice a glass of water would be, Dee directed her witty goading at him! The co-captain made for an easy enough target. He wasn't one to play along, so in moments like these, his partner was typically afforded a I'm not hurt, I'm just disappointed pout. Several seconds ticked by. He seemed to reach a decision. "Dealla?"
Oh, she'd done it now. Not the casual comfort of "Dee", nor the half-satire half-respect of "Captain". Her name was spoken with a sardonic sincerity, as if he was about to ask for the time in the middle of a duel. "I prefer for your sass to make it across the piste..." a sly squint to the witch at his side, "...as well as your spells." Teasing past backfires?
Oh the impropriety! Pericles was never one to institute raillery, but between having Dee as a partner and a certain metamorph for a friend, he heard grade-a cheek on a near daily basis. They were terrible influences, and for the record, she totally started it.Ribbing Dee As strategized.

AJ had expected the end to come for him, and as his spell flew past Dealla he winced as he expected the impact that would send him out of the duel, but it didn't come.
Instead he opened his eyes to see Alec nimbly dodging past the fire and the blindfold, completely unscarred. And in that moment, AJ's mouth turned to a grin and he began to laugh.
His annoyance, his frustration, his irritation all melted away in that single moment. What was he letting himself get worked up for? He was standing here dancing around fire and blue light and flying bits of cloth and yet he had presumed he needed to take any of that seriously.
He laughed again, a laugh filled with sheer joy and exhilaration as everything was finally put into perspective. Against all odds, here he was. A Muggle-born, Captain of the Gryffindor team, embodying everything the Lions stood for. Taking a stand, getting knocked on your backside over and over again, but never backing down.
The Slytherin team could have their cunning tactics and ambitious plays. The Hufflepuffs could have their fantastic team work and concentrated effort. And honestly, the Ravens could have their well thought strategies and flawless casting.
He was a Gryffindor. One of the Pride of Pendrast. If his example had to be that it was ok to get absolutely flattened every single duel as long as you never gave up. Then hell, he would be that example.
He eventually calmed his laughter to a small chuckle. "Lut's ruffel som' futhurs Alec!" He remarked to his teammate, a wide grin on his face.
AJ MacAllister was back in action.
