Quidditch Scrimmage
Nicholas couldn't help but feel excited, a proper game of quidditch, the kind of thing he'd wanted to experience from the moment he'd first stepped off of the train and onto the school grounds. No longer would he just be watching the sport, he'd be involved in an actual match. The boy couldn't lie to himself, he'd initially had intentions of trying out for team, but instead had found himself falling into the Dueling Team towards the end of the school year. He was glad he had, but there was still something about the sport that he couldn't help but find himself enamored with. Be it the teamwork, the flying or something else entirely, Nicholas had grown up a quidditch fan, and he was entirely excited to finally get out and on to a broom.
So it was that he found himself on the quidditch pitch that morning, in much the same way he'd found himself upon it all those nights before, where he participated in the Trial by Fear. But his mood was different, more cheerful. He had nothing to prove here, and whereas the boy normally carried himself with a degree of stiffness, so much so that he more often resembled stone than flesh. But here he almost slouched, his height hidden by his relaxed posture, more akin to his behaviour in the common room than it was when in a duel or when in the classroom. There were no points up for grabs, just a bit of fun on a brisk spring morning.
For that purpose, team Hollythorn had been assembled. Nicholas looked over the group, a mix of Gryffindor and Slytherin, with a Ravenclaw for a captain. A few of the faces were familiar, namely Henry Knight and Rose Moon. He'd first met the pair during the Trial, and the latter of the two had since become his dueling partner. Henry threw a greeting his way and Rose gave him a quick wave, which Nicholas answered in turn, throwing his hand up in a lazy wave, an easy smile plastered on his face.
He wasn't overly familiar with many of the rest of his team, although Gia Adelard and Kage Suzuki were at least in his same year and house, so they'd had a number of classes together. Although, he couldn't say that he'd held a proper conversation with either. Regardless, seeing as they were on the same team now, there would be plenty of time for getting to know each other while they dodged bludgers. Or, in Nicholas and Suzuki's case, hit the bludgers toward the other fliers.
Nicholas felt the bat in his hand, the weight unfamiliar but not overly awkward. His other hand held the school broom, lazily dangling by his side. The odd positioning of the two items only added to the boy's disheveled appearance. His hair was even messier than normal, and a year without a cut had seen the unruly mop only grow more wild. Moreover, he'd hastily thrown on whatever clothes he figured would be appropriate for flying in the relative cool. This meant a pair of ripped black jeans and scuffed tan boots, both garments on the verge of falling apart. Only the plain grey hoodie he wore appeared to be in anything resembling acceptable condition. It seemed that his time in the dormitories had naturally leant itself to the boy failing to keep himself presentable.
Still that didn't particularly matter, especially as no one would be able to see him when he was off the ground. As he considered that thought, a number of his teammates, and those of the opposition took to the air. Taking that as his cue, Nicholas moved the broom underneath him and joined them. To be expected, the feeling of the wind against him as he moved had a considerable chill, but he was much more focused on the task at hand. That task being the practicing swinging the bat while he waited for the quaffle to be thrown.

Everly knew that signing up for duelling meant she couldn't do Quidditch. That was a blow, especially since she'd fawned over Quidditch since being a small girl, but duelling seemed more exciting and there seemed to be quite the waitlist for Quidditch, which was understandable, considering the popularity of the sport. But she still wanted to have at least a chance to play the game, and try it out. She'd practiced before with her brothers, but throwing a ball, crashing into someone else, and landing in giggles wasn't exactly the game.
And so she signed up.
When she'd ended up as a Chaser for one of the teams, she was ecstatic. People who flew around and threw the red ball. She could handle it.
Turns out, duelling and Quidditch are complete polar opposites.
Either way, she had prepared herself. Arriving somewhat early, she greeted everyone else there, telling the other team good luck, and then scanning for familiar faces. There was that Gryffindor girl from the Library errand who didn't talk [Kage], the Ravenclaw prefect who had refereed her duel [Pericles], one of the Slytherin duellists [Opeila], one of the duellists from the Gryffindor team [Rose], a Slytherin first year [Violet], and another Gryffindor duellist [Nicholas].
Oh yes, and Cash. Everly definitely remembered her.
But oh well, there was Starlee too! "Starlee! Hi!" Everly waved, walking over. "I'm so excited for this. Agh, I've wanted to play Quidditch for so long!"
If Starlee would respond, Everly would keep talking until they were signaled to go.
Feeling the borrowed school broom under her fingers, Everly made a note to buy a new broom soon enough. But oh well, she would have to do with this for now.ACTION | doing as strategized

It had been nearly a year since her last Quidditch game, but the walk down to the Pitch, broom in one hand and beater's bat in the other, still felt familiar. There were plenty of differences--she was no longer on her House team, she was borrowing a broom, this wasn't an official match--though the feeling was the same. Anticipation building. Less nerves, perhaps. The determination to win was there as well; this might just be a scrimmage, but she was too competitive to let that be a reason to not play hard.
The weather had been warming since the arrival of spring, though it was early and it could be chilly at high speeds up in the air. Accordingly and with no uniform this time around, she'd dressed in leggings, sneakers, and a hoodie, her hair out of her face in a ponytail. It was a bit of shame to not be able to use her Silver Arrow today for its speed and maneuverability, but she understood the reasoning behind the decision. Especially since many of the participants would be first years without the means or reason to own a broom, a broom like the Silver Arrow would be unfair against the older, slower school supply.
She would be taking to the Pitch in her old position, Beater for her team along with duelling teammate Starlee Kennedy. Her responsibilities today exceeded just that of a player; she was one of the only on her team to have played in a Quidditch game before, along with Cassandra Ironwoods, and one of the oldest among a group of mostly first and second years. Typically quiet and reserved, she was aware her teammates likely needed her to be more vocal. Her time as a duelling co-captain had developed her leadership skills, so while the thought didn't thrill her, she felt fairly comfortable in the role of leader.
It seemed many of the players had already arrived. She could match the majority of the faces to a name and those she couldn't were reasoned to be first years. None of those present were people Bridget was particularly close to, but considering how she'd only say that of a handful of people and those people were either terrified of flying or already Quidditch players, that was no surprise. She did a quick headcount of her team; six here counting herself, they were still missing two. Hopefully they would show up, but there was enough time left for there not to be reason to worry yet.
Somehow, her team had come up with the team name 'Pitch Please'. Scratch that, at this age it really wasn't a surprise that had been the choice. It had not been Bridget's idea, though she would give it credit for being fairly clever. She supposed she should give some sort of rallying speech or a few last reminders; in a few minutes, though. In the meantime, she walked up to Opeila. Along with Griseldis and Scarlett, she'd convinced Opeila to sign up for this and had helped her a bit with her flying. Thus, it only made sense to check in on her before they started. "Ready?" Depending on the answer, Bridget would either echo her enthusiasm or assure her she'd be fine.
Her next stop was with Cassandra. The second year had been the one to take her place after she'd left Quidditch for duelling. Their only real interaction had been during Slytherin's misguided exploration of the dungeons after Starlee and Santario had fallen in that well... but that wasn't something to dwell on now. Cassandra might have been confined to the bench for now as second-string Seeker, unfortunately restricting the benefit of their game experience, but Bridget had mentally designated them as a soundboard of sorts for her ideas, since of course they too had played before, looking to Cassandra whenever she wasn't sure about something. Cassandra's position on the ground, view of the game undistracted by being in the fray, could be quite useful. "Let me know if you see or think of anything that might help. Just wave or shout or something to get my attention, I'll be on the lookout."
When they either had everyone there or the game was about to start, Bridget would gesture for her team to circle up. "Alright, everyone. Just... do your best. This is for fun, there's no pressure to win or anything." She, personally, felt driven to win, if possible--Anastasia and Rose were on the opposing team, and she wasn't a big fan of either of them--but she'd do her best to not let that get in the way of everyone else having a good time. "If you need, you can ask me for help while we're playing, just try to find a moment where the action has died down a bit. You've got this."
And with that hopefully decent talk, she would get in position, making sure the rest of her team had taken their spots, too. Mounting and kicking off the ground were done in fluid succession, still muscle memory. A breath in, she adjusted her grip on her bat and waited for the release of the balls.

Quidditch Scrimmage

As the sun went up this morning, Emma went up. She woke up with the bright and blue sky, no cloud, and hurried up in the bathroom then in the stairs. Even though she was up early, she managed to be late. Maybe she spends too much time looking for her way in the moving stairs, thinking what a pain to get stuck here while her Quidditch Scrimmage team is waiting for her on the Quidditch Pitch. Finally, she ends up to be on time. When she could finally reach the Great Hall to run outside, a wide smile appeared on her face. The fresh air was going through her face, but she couldn't stop running through the courtyard, then through the grounds to go down the slope.
Finally, she reached the Quidditch Pitch. It felt like a tremendous breath of fresh air, even more than the breeze in her face while running. She spends the whole year looking at that Pitch, from the courtyard or the grounds, tiptoeing to watch the Quidditch trainings. Her love for Quidditch and her strong will to become a member of Gryffindor's Quidditch team developed throughout the year and Emma felt like it reach its peak today. Which really felt like a Great day.
Her smile won't go off her reddish face as she approached the crowd, which was already two crowds for each teams: between the numerous unknown faces, Emma could find one of her best friend's. @Kage Suzuki was standing there, but she belonged to the opposite team. Emma hasn't seen her in her dorm, which both girls share, neither in the stairways. She tried to catch her attention raising her hand, standing at the back. She holds her broom in her left hand, the one with which she didn't wave Suzuki. She was wearing a black hoodie, one of those she brought from her home, together with a black jogging suit.
She waited for the match to start, the heart full of the passion burning inside her. Emma studied Quidditch in books - the only books she's keen to open - and participated actively in every Flight Courses, in order to become Gryffindor's Seeker one day. Although she was not disappointed at all to occupy the position of Chaser for today's scrimmage. Once everyone in the Pitch start flying, she raised up on the school broom she borrowed and the scrimmage could start.

Instead, she was excited. As excited as she could be. Kind of.
Turning, she noticed one of the Gryfifndors that she shared a dorm with- Emma Murray. Yeah, that's it. Emma Murray. Suzuki watched as the girl waved, one hand aloft in the air, other holding on the shabby school brooms that most first years had to use.
Waving back (very subtly), Suzuki went back to examine the school brooms. Although they were aerodynamic enough, they definitely didn't measure up to the Nimbus', or even the Cleansweeps. But then again, the school brooms were free to use, and Suzuki decided she should be glad she even had a broom to ride.
Back in London, Nakamura had had a Bluebottle, and a Moontrimmer. Or rather, his mother had the Bluebottle and his father had the Moontrimmer. Lucky. While the Bluebottle wasn't the greatest, it was probably better than the school brooms, and the Moontrimmers were fantastic.
If smacking bludgers were anything like smacking baseballs, this would be a piece of cake. Probably. Hopefully. If the pitcher didn't try to do any nasty stuff, Suzuki could hit a million home runs. Bludgers weren't pitchers, though. You never knew with bludgers. It was all about the angle. Get the angle right, muster enough strength, and you could whack a bludger anywhere, at anyone.
Dragging a finger across the tip of the handle of her broom, Suzuki watched as some people took off. The match hadn't started yet, so she didn't bother.
She hoped it'd start soon.

Quidditch Scrimmage
This morning James had woken up late, he had been tired from his day... he had woken up late, but he had woken up great, especially since today was a special day, he was going to try Quidditch, for the first time in his life. The boy had never been to a Quidditch match since arriving at Hogwarts and it was a golden opportunity.
When he arrived, he didn't know anyone except a boy from Slytherin named Henry Knight, they had met in the common room. Unfortunately, he was part of the team he was not in. Having no brooms, he had borrowed one from school, he was not in the best of conditions, but it was always better than staying on the ground copying. The young blond had asked to be a seeker but had been put in the place of the keeper. After all, why not, it could be interesting...
Arriving on the ground, broom in hand, the boy is taken in his free hand, the military collar hanging from his neck that his uncle had put on him before his death, c was kind of a lucky charm. By touching the collar,
The first year took a deep breath as he let go of his metal necklace which he put back under his black t-shirt and then walked over to the other people on his team. Arrived at them, he began to see some students rising and he followed them with his eyes, hesitating to do the same. After a few seconds of hesitation and after everyone had flown away, James took me on his broomstick and flew off in turn, enjoying the view of the stadium.

The blonde was later than she would have liked to be. Somehow, the staircases had felt as though that particular day was the day to make it impossible for her to get anywhere timely. Huffing irritably, she wiggled her fingers around the handle of the unfamiliar Cleansweep. She shot @Pericles Dralt a smile as she entered the pitch and glanced around. She was still early, which was nice, and she perched on the bench for a moment to pull her hair into a loose ponytail.
Realistically, she didn't expect to play, since Seekers were generally protected at the cost of nearly all other players. Still, she would never pass up an opportunity to get better at Quidditch. She was perfectly happy as a Chaser, but a good player could work in any position, so she had signed up as a Seeker for the scrimmage.
Her dark eyes narrowed irritably when she saw @Rose Moon. Of course, she was there... While Ana was generally able to set aside her rivalries with teammates on the Gryffindor team in hopes of winning the house cup, the same couldn't be said here. There were no stakes, and whether or not Ana's competitive nature would win out over her hatred of Rose remained to be seen.
She caught a glimpse of @Bridget Collins, and took a moment to reevaluate her choice to be here. Quidditch was her love to be sure, but annoying people she'd as soon punch as speak to? Not so much...
"Well then, let's go team and whatnot," Ana said drily but somewhat cheerfully before taking her seat on the bench.

Gia raced onto the Quidditch Pitch as fast as her legs could carry her, eyes trained on the place she'd been told to go to for the scrimmage. The first year had signed up a while ago, and she had been waiting for what felt like forever for the day to finally arrive. Just a few days before, however, she had received an amazing surprise: she had actually made it onto the Gryffindor Quidditch Team! Like, the real one. The one that she'd been waiting to get onto since... January? February? Well, whatever it was, she had been waiting for such a long time, that was for sure.
Okay, okay, maybe she was making a bit of a big deal about something that wasn't too special. She was only a second string player right now, and that meant she wouldn't be playing in the actual games unless the main seeker got injured or was taken out of the game. Or something like that, anyway. Still. Gia was excited. And what better way to practice playing in a game than to... well, play in one?
Finally arriving at the place where a bunch of other students had gathered, Gia hurried to find a broom that she could use. It really was too bad that she didn't have another broom yet, but the school one that she was borrowing for the scrimmage would do fine, she thought. Spotting the faces of a few of her teammates - Henry Knight and Pericles Dralt particularly - the young Gryffindor waved. "Hi!" she said happily, a bright grin on her face.
Spotting a few people from the other team she knew as well, the twelve year old gave them a quick smile before she mounted one of the last school brooms available and pushed off from the ground. Hovering only a few feet above the ground, she didn't bother going any higher yet. "Oh! Hi Ana!" Gia called out, slightly surprised when she saw the third year looking around. The two girls had met waaaaay back in January (or was it December? She honestly couldn't keep her months straight right now) and had talked a lot about Quidditch.
Flying closer, the brunette grinned. "I totally missed your name on the thing announcing our teams," she said with a small laugh. Hopefully she wasn't bothering the other girl... when they'd talked a while before, Gia had noticed that Anastasia was probably not someone you wanted upset with you.

Cecily was back at her favorite place in the school-- the Quidditch pitch. This time, though, it wasn't for a match, or a practice, or anything completely official. No, today, she was on the other side of the match, stepping up to referee a scrimmage that she had put together with her fellow captain, Ami Procoppio. It was strange to the Chaser to be holding the Quaffle in her hands and not racing towards the hoops, she thought, but didn't much dwell on the thought. She tossed the Quaffle up, free for all to grab, and the match was off.

All six Chasers from both teams attacked the ball, each racing the other to be the first to lay a hand on the leather. Emma, Henry, and Violet took the lead in the race for the ball, with Everly, Opeila, and Pericles right on their tails. It would be a first year who would be the quickest to the center, Emma of Team Pitch Please snatching it right out from under Henry's nose. The girl would race towards the opposing goalposts, facing bravely the older keeper on the other team. Winding up, she sent the Quaffle flying through the hoop. The Quaffle was sent back into play, triggering another frenzy of flyers. This time, though, one boy flew ahead of the pack. Pericles easily reached the Quaffle first, securely grabbing it before zipping in the direction of the opposing Keeper. Who knew the duellist had it in him? Alas, his weaknesses showed-- or maybe James' strengths-- as the Pitch Please Keeper swatted the Quaffle away, thwarting Pericles' attempt at a score.
Hollythorn's Chasers, perhaps disheartened from Pericles' missed shot, seemed to lag behind as the Quaffle was sent into play once more, but Violet and Emma were neck-and-neck as they sped towards it. Yet, just moments before either of them could lay a hand on it, Opeila swooped in and caught it in stride as she faced the Hollythorn Keeper. Team Pitch Please went two-for-two as the Slytherin sent it neatly through the hoops, securing another 10 points for her team.
-----BEATERSAs Pitch Perfect secured a lead in Quaffle points, Hollythorn was showing no mercy on the bludger front. Both Hollythorn beaters seemed to have a mutual target: the opposing Seeker. A common tactic, but with good reason. Taking out the Seeker was like chopping off the head of the snake, and Hollythorn knew it. Pitch Please's captain, though, wasn't about to let their Seeker be taken out so easily. Predicting Kage and Nicholas' moves, she selflessly threw herself into the path of the bludgers that the two Gryffindors sent flying Aurora's way, defending her team's Seeker. Remarkably, though, Bridget managed to swerve gracefully out of the way of Kage's bludger, and narrowly avoided Nicholas', too, keeping Aurora safe in the process.

Those beaters really showed zero mercy. They really wanted Aurora to die on the spot. Luckily the captain defended her and basically saved her from the nasty bludger. Not once, but twice. Her first time on the pitch was quite an overwhelming experience, so much happening at the same time made her unable to see the snitch. Luckily, the other seeker from hollythorn failed to locate the snitch as well. Being a seeker was challenging, how can someone stay focus searching the snitch while two people want you dead? If one of them, or both, managed to hit her, hopefully not, she will bonk their heads with a beater bat until they ask for mercy right after the match is over. Will they play a bit nicer if they were friends? Probably no. Whatever their names were, they don’t like the type who will be friendly with her.
What is a good way to tell people that she was in danger? She remembered a random person talked about making a- what was it? Safeword? Aurora should have made one before the match began so someone nearby may be able to save her later on. Even If she ended up falling from the broom, Ironwoods would have been able to find the snitch to make the team win. But, a big apology to Ironwoods, Aurora was not planning to fall in the scrimmage.
“CHOCOLATE! MY SAFEWORD IS CHOCOLATE!”
Aurora just screamed on the top of her lungs, not intended to anyone specific, she did not really care if the other team heard it. Honestly, it sounded more like she was mad at someone from eating her chocolate.
