Feelings Are Confusing pv Elzabeth Gillan

Aldor shrugged as he sighed quietly, most of his life, he lived the way that Elzabeth mentioned, magic was practically unknown to him for most of his childhood,

''Before Hogwarts, my aunt told me about the existence of elves and other things but- at that point I had no clue magic was actually much more of just a way of making life easier or causing a lot of destruction. ''

Aldor made a long and awkward pause, maybe it was time to tell his new friend the fact that he was actually a muggle born kid, in reality, there weren't many reasons to hide this from her, and maybe telling this to her would show her that Aldor trusted her, or at least that is what the Hufflepuff hoped.

''My dad is a squib and my mom just a muggle so- back in Ireland magic wasn't really a big part of my life especially because of my mom, well, until I- moved with my aunt, then things changed and I started learning more and more about the topic, eventually got a letter from Hogwarts, and here I am-''

The boy would keep smiling nervously, doing his best to make eye contact with the girl, he seems calm, maybe asking about his family wouldn't affect him, after all, he just told Elzabeth a lot of things that seemed pretty personal at first glance, of course, Aldor was just a vault, with many, many layers of feelings and thoughts.

Elzabeth nodded, trying to seem respectful. "I'm a half-blood, my father's parents went to Hogwarts but he isn't quite sure what their blood status was. My mom's a muggle." She shrugged.

"I didn't even realize that blood status was even a thing until I got here." She admitted. It didn't cross her mind that something so trivial would be a big deal here until she was attacked for it. Last year she had gotten in a nasty fight with a few cloaked figures at a birthday party, as crazy as that sounds.

She left that fight with a few new scars and a broken idea about herself. It took a long talk with her dad to get over the things that had been said to her, but he was always good with knowing just what to say.

Any time she got homesick it was usually because she was missing him and the way he could take all of her worries away with little effort.

"My mom met my dad when she was going to nursing school. He was fresh out of Hogwarts and had just landed his job at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement when he was called to a mugging." Elzabeth paused, her mind going over the story to make sure she got every detail.

"My mom was the one who got mugged at wand point. Of course, they had to wipe her memories as soon as they got all of the information from her, but my father always said that she felt special, so he kept an eye on her and eventually invited her out for some coffee." It was a lovely story, one she found rather romantic in an odd way.

"She didn't know about the mugging and his work until after they were married." That ended up raising an argument but her mom eventually came to realize that it was done out of necessity for her overall safety.

"I think her experience with magic, most of it being negative, really played a role in the way I was raised." Elzabeth sighed.

Aldor would let go off his own hair for once, and couldn't do anything but shrug as he looked back at Elzabeth, trying to smile, but thinking about his family, specifically his mother somehow just made him scared, he really, really hated to talk about her, so he tried his best to move on from the topic of parents.

''Blood status is a stupid concept- You'd think that in a society that can well, do ANYTHING with magic, there wouldn't be pathetic fights over who should or shouldn't be part of the magical world- sometimes I wish that everyone could see the world we now live in, and actually end the fights knowing that there is much more beyond being a half-blood or a muggle born- ''

The boy paused for a bit, breathing quietly as he did his best to keep the conversation going.

''I've read a lot about the history of magic, and how there are so many wars and conflicts over any little thing- Sometimes is because of a very nice wand that you cannot have, other times to remove the rights to have acromantulas, and other times it is even for blood status and that is just so much nonsense-''

He scratched the back of his head, thinking about all of this, for a young kid, that was a lot of pressure that he seemed to be under. But Aldor knew more than he seemed to know, he had a bright mind, but troubled as well, sometimes knowledge was a blessing, other times it was most definetely a curse.

Elzabeth nodded, sitting up straighter in her seat. The topic of blood status got her excited since last year it became such a big deal in her life.

"I know! It seems no matter where you go people are always looking for trouble, it's quite disappointing. I feel like some people forget how lucky they are to be a part of the magic world." Life without magic was boring, just the idea of being a regular muggle was enough to give Elzabeth goosebumps.

"I would say muggle studies should be a requirement, but from what I've heard it doesn't do a very good job portraying that side of the world, it seems the wizards are just too detached to see it the way we do."

Elzabeth couldn't blame them for wanting to stay away from the muggle side of things, but she also feels that her experience with the muggle world helped put into perspective how stupid a small thing like blood status was. There were wars in the muggle world that had been fought over similar things, wars they could learn from here to prevent later on.

Then again, maybe it was just the time old case of people looking to be special and different from one another.

''I want to believe everyone can be a good person, but it is just complicated, sometimes there is just- truly heartless people in this messed up world.''

Aldor paused for a few seconds, trying to think about what to say next, leaving a few seconds of awkward silence between his phrases.

''You are nice though, I was honestly scared my blood status- or my last name even, would push you away from me. But it is nice to find someone who understands how it feels to be- well, confused about this whole blood status thing-''

The boy gave her a gentle smile, he was sure this time, things would be fine, there was no reason to be scared about what Elzabeth could think about Aldor, she was nice, right? She understood the way he felt about this situation, and in reality, she just seemed like the kind of person who would be good at being friends with others.

Still, there was something that the Hufflepuff couldn't yet understand, the feelings that was stuck in his chest, like there was a lot pressure on him, and a strange warmth on his face, being unable to hide the way he was blushing, it wasn't scary feeiling, but it was confusing, a primal feeling that he couldn't just ignore, it was just there, and he couldn't find a way to explain it quite right, this, was what Aldor found scary.

Elzabeth nodded, rubbing the palm of her hand with her fingers. As much as she wanted the world to be rainbows and butterflies, she knew better. Hell, she had first-hand experience with some of its horrors.

"What do mean your last name?" Elzabeth asked, her eyebrows furrowed. She tried to remember if his last name would ring any bells but came up empty-handed. Was he a part of some powerful family? If so, it wouldn't be the first time she had made friends with someone with that status.

She learned early on that all types of people went to Hogwarts, you could have the same class with someone who was related to royalty and someone completely normal that grew up in a muggle household. It was one of the many things she loved about going to school here.

"You should know that I won't care about where or what you came from, you've been nothing but nice to me and it wouldn't be fair if I just threw that all away because of such a silly thing." Elzabeth tilted her head, giving him a friendly smile. The last thing she ever wanted was for someone to feel like they were being judged by her.

Aldor would cover his mouth, realising he might have sayed too much this time, but it was a bit late for that, as long as she didn't ask further, he would be fine.

''My last name uh, it's nothing, nothing important just- thought you might have heard it at some point. It's not like I am 'Mr I Live In a Mansion, And Have a Pet Acromantula'-

He paused for a few seconds, thinking carefully about what he would say next. After he took a deep breath, he realised that it would be no harm to talk a little about the reason as to why he did not want people to recognize his last name.

''My aunt, Iphiane Humbleglow, she writes a lot of books, she's quite known nowdays but- I usually avoid mentioning I am part of her family, don't take it wrong, I love my aunt, but people just tend to ask a lot of questions when they learn that I am well- a Humbleglow.''

The boy played with his hair for a few seconds, clearly nervous of the fact that he finally told her about this. But suddenly, what she said snapped him out of what he was thinking. He smiled at her, still being unable to control the blush on his face.

Aldor did have one thing very clear, he wasn't expecting the girl to be interested in him at all, as far as he knew, maybe she was just being kind because she wanted to be polite. And that was probably fine, not even the boy had a clue of what he was feeling, but he was at least hoping for a decent friendship.

Elzabeth smiled, shaking her head. "Your Aunt sounds like a very nice woman, I'll bet you can't wait to get back to her on holidays." From what he was saying she could tell he must have lived with his aunt, but it was none of her business so she restrained asking him.

Elzabeth was honestly a little jealous, her relationship with her parents was strained and the idea of spending two long months alone with them stressed her out. Then she started to feel guilty, as much as she didn't want to hear the same reprimands from her mother she missed her bed and her home. Most of all, she missed her dad and his amazing advice along with his god-awful jokes.

"Oh! Can you imagine, sleeping in for two months, then waking up to do whatever you want?" Elizabeth's mind drifted to her summer days, a smile fondly set on her lips. Sometime soon she would stay with her grandmother and her small cottage in the rolling hills of Ireland.

Nothing but relaxation and quiet, she could really use that right now.

"Do you have any summer plans?" Elzabeth asked, looking back at him with that same fond look in her eyes.

Aldor didn't really have any plans, not at that point at least, but he at least expected to spend time with his best friend, Rose Moon. He would usually spend time on his own, doing anything but socializing with people, but lately he feels fine talking to others, maybe that was the whole reason as to why he felt comfortable talking to Elzabeth.

''I will probably just stay home and read excesively. Maybe bring my best friend home at some point-''

Of course, it wasn't like Aldor had an endless supply of interesting things that he could do, just like in Hogwarts, in his free time, if he wasn't taking a nap somwhere far from others, or reading, he was most likely spending time with the small group of friends he had.

The boy wasn't exactly the most popular kid around, and somehow, he was happy about that, meeting people regularly was fine, in fact, he was having quite a lot of fun talking to Elzabeth.

''What about you? Do you have anything planned?''

The boy would smile softly, as he kept playing with a strand of his hair, it was very obvious that he was joyful, Aldor wasn't entirely sure what made Elzabeth such an interesting person, but it didn't really matter at this point, he was haappy.

Elzabeth shrugged, running a hand through her hair to push it out of the way. Usually, she would spend her summer relaxing, her parents were too busy with work to take the expensive trips to some amusement park or any European country more than six hours away.

"I'm probably going to spend most of my break at home, then hopefully a few weeks at my grandmother's." That was the usual break plan anyways.

"I might pick up a new hobby or TV show, who knows? I'm mostly excited to sleep in my own room though, nothing beats sleeping without having one of your roommates there to snore." It was rough getting used to the new sleeping environment the first month she comes back from break, not that she spent much time sleeping anyway.

"Do you have any show recommendations? Not that I need anymore, I already have so many to try and catch up on." Elzabeth shook her head, laughing softly. It got to the point where she had so many shows lined up, it would be physically impossible to finish them all before school started again, I mean, unless she wanted to somehow get her hands on a time-turner.
