A slight relief washed over Aurora when a white-haired boy said she was just in time even though she knew that she was incredibly late. It was a good thing he was nice. There was something about him that felt familiar, perhaps she saw him around the Ravenclaw tower before, but she was unsure. A slight smile painted across her face. He then called for someone to do Vera ver- what? It sounded like another alien vocabulary. Who knows.

Her gaze moved to a fancy looking girl who ran towards him, probably an older student. What was her name again? Say? Zay? A person with that look must have a cool name, whatever that was. For a moment, she looked rather upset. The Say or Zay girl said something about drinking from a frog. The hole in the puzzle slowly filled with its missing piece, she must be reluctant to give Aurora a drink since the Ravenclaw was very late. That must be the reason why she sounded a bit bitter. The girl was about to walk out of the room to get some drink. Maybe it was her worry get poisoned, she decided to say,

“Uh.. no, it’s fine. I won’t dehydrate myself if I don’t drink right now anyway. But thanks.” Her focus shifted back to the boy as he made a gesture towards a bunch of amphibians. Then he said it was good to see her. “Is it good? Oh, that’s new.” She said in wonder with a smile. A sudden realization that she was in a room with other people hit her like a truck. Aurora straightened her standing posture, cleared her throat, and said, “It’s good to meet you too! Uh,-“ She did a little gesture to point the frog direction with her finger, “- I’m going to choose the frog now.”

Swiftly, she walked to the amphibians bunch, occasionally looked over her shoulder towards Pericles and the cool girl. A cute and must be fluffy -if it has fur- toad caught her eyes. It was a bufo toad. She swore she read it somewhere that it was poisonous. Perhaps she misread it, hopefully.

“Hi everyone, uh- sorry I’m late.-” she cleared her throat for the hundredth times “-For those who don’t know me, and of course all of you don’t know me, my name is Aurora Ranvier, a first-year Ravenclaw. And uh-“ Her eyes looked down towards the toad “-This is, Toad-ally? Yeah, Toadally, he and I will sing lovely.”

Aurora’s body was stiff. Any trees indeed have more flow to their body compared to her. It was a good thing she was holding a toad with both hands. Otherwise, she may have to think about what she should do with that. Her heart pounding, she felt a tingling sensation on her skin, her entire face was flushed both from her marathon earlier and being the centre of the attention. The brown-haired girl tried to picture everybody naked in her mind, but that would be inappropriate and more distracting than helping her calm her nerve. Instead, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She began to sing.
Thought I found a way
Thought I found a way out

CROAAAAAKKKKKK
What was that sound? Was it normal? Aurora paused a bit and peeked at the toad with a ‘are you supposed to do that’ look. Then she thought, maybe this was why it called the frog choir. It was nowhere near aesthetic sounding, but okay. She closed her eyes again and continued,
But you never go away

CROAAKK CROAAAAKKK

So I guess I gotta stay now
Oh, I hope someday I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive, outside I can fight my fear

croak

Isn't it lovely, all alone

croak

Heart made of glass, my mind of stone

croak

Tear me to pieces, skin and bone
Hello, welcome home

CROAAAAKKKKKKK
Aurora almost laugh while she sang the last part. This was a new experience for her to sing with a toad, muggle school could not relate. She opened her eyes with a subtle smile, and whispered to her toad, "Good job Toadally". She moved her hand to high five the toad, unfortunately, Toadally just gave her its usual toad side-eye. "No? okay."
Being rejected by a toad was not a good feeling. She glanced towards Pericles to see his reaction, if there was no smile whatsoever, she might have to prepare herself for the second rejection of the day.

Pericles mentioned something about a handling course, and Rose smiled. She would love to go to a handling course and spend some more time with Squirt. A lot of girls around her age would get squeamish at the thought of even touching a amphibian (ewwww so slimy!), but Rose was not like that. She was fascinated by all kinds of creatures. The only ones she was ever wary of were creatures that would always inherently hurt her. "Conisder me there," she said. Yes, of course she wanted to take a handling course about frogs and toads. Only heartless people who had never met adorable frogs or toads wouldn't. Rose wanted to know everything there was to know about them, and anything and everything that she could do to help Squirt be the best partner he could be.

Rose had asked Henry the question about letting people in only to make casual conversation. She nodded when he asked her the same. "Of course," she said back. "Their voices are amazing." She was telling the truth- all of the people who had come to audition and had actually auditioned had made an impressive show with their voices. Rose was glad she was able to participate in this today.

Pericles seemed to wrap up the meeting, suggesting that the toads and frogs be returned to their bins. Rose nodded. The redhead lifted up Squirt, as if offering for him to climb onto her shoulder. He did, holding on effectively. It would probably leave slime on her black shirt, but Rose didn't care that much. She could wipe it off or wash it off later, and if she needed to, she could change her shirt. But it wasn't really that big of a deal to her. She was just happy that Squirt had gotten on her shoulder, and trusted her enough to ride on her for a little bit. Pericles continued, telling the people there a very important thing. They were all accepted into the Frog Choir. Rose grinned. It felt good to be a chorister.

Squirt gave a little croak, which she could not only hear, but also feel in her shoulder. She had been able to feel his croaks when he was in her hands, but it was a little different feeling it from a different place. She made her way over to the bins again, careful to make sure that he was balanced well on her shoulder and not falling off. She picked up the toad, placing him back in his respective bin from earlier. "Sorry, Squirt." He pushed himself up against the side, looking back up at her and croaking again. "I'll see you soon, okay?" Surprisingly and luckily, there wasn't a mark on her shirt where Squirt had balanced.

Rose then made her way back to the table where the paper lay. She signed her name, officially signing herself up for the handling course. Any more time with animals, she would take and take very happily. Going over to Henry again, she said, "I think I'm gonna go too. I have some stuff to catch up on in Gryffindor Tower."

But that's when another girl [Aurora] burst in, saying that she wanted to audition. It wouldn't hurt to wait just a little bit more to watch her audition, right? Rose wanted to be respectful to her. The girl was a little younger than Rose, but her voice was gorgeous. Once the girl finished, Rose joined in applauding her. She then gave a wave to Pericles. "Thanks for having me!" she called. Rose then slipped out of the rehearsal room.

She made a point not to look at the ballroom as she passed it. She was not letting bad memories ruin her terrific day.

When Pericles mentioned pets be allowed in during rehearsals, the second year gave a smile as well as he noticed the gryffindor prefect commented on it before he would say" my cat's pretty behaved, well he won't go after any creatures so," which it was true that Loki wasn't a fan of attacking or chasing after smaller animals but the orange feline wasn't completely behaved either. He was of course still in training.

The ravenclaw mentioned that they could leave and also about handling frogs, of course Henry signed his name up as he shot the boy a smile and spoke" I'll be looking forward to your owl," as the second year then walked back over to where the other unelected frogs and toads sat. The second year would eye Ulysses who sat on his flat palm before the second year would speak in a low voice to him, "it was a pleasure meeting you Ulysses and I'll see you again soon, promise."

The second year then place him back inside his area before going over to Rose with a smile as he listened to her words before nodding as he responded" yeah, I'm going to leave also. I want to read over my history of magic essay for any errors anyway," the boy also wanted to make sure that none of his dorm mates found the essay that he worked on for a nearly three hours the day before in the library and either was copying it or destroying it or doing something else to do it....

The boy would wait for the next audition time he finishes before he would wave toward Pericles, Santario, and Rose with a smile and head out from the room down toward the dungeons toward the slytherin common room.

It seemed that things were winding down. All those in the room had sung their piece and found a true match with their new toad partner, including Starlee herself. She was ecstatic she could find a little guy that matched her so well. She figured most of them would be cool and calm, I mean, all toads did really was sit around and chill in/near water, right? Well, boy was she glad to have found the one that seemed to just hippity hop everywhere. She was also excited about this new handling course that Pericles mentioned and nodded vigorously at the mention of it. More time to bond with her little friend? Sign her up!

She was about to say goodbye to her new friend when a girl burst in the door, asking if she was too late to audition. Pericles said no, and so the girl was off to pick out a toad and came back to sing her song to the group. She seemed to go the more traditional route, although she did appear to be a bit confused by her frog companions correlating croaks. Had she never seen a frog choir before?

In any case, she had a lovely voice, and Starlee closed her eyes a few times during the piece to take in both the frog and the girl - Aurora, she had said. It was a lovely name, just like that Disney princess she was so in love with as a child.

When she finished, Starlee gave the girl some much-deserved claps. Seeing her somewhat dejected look, the reasoning, Starlee had missed, she went up to her and tried to tell her the pair were great. "Wow, that was just lovely!" She became a little shy, turning around quickly and heading toward the bins where the toads were stored without another word.

"Don't you worry now Bubbles, I'll be back again soon! You stay just as hoppy!" she smiled and winked at the little cutey as she set him down in the bins. She thought for a moment she should have got a toad as a pet instead of her now temperamental owl, but she brushed that out of her mind quickly. Borvo didn't deserve that.

"Thanks for hosting, Pericles, this was ah-mazing!" she said enthusiastically. "I'll be on the lookout for those signups! I can't wait to see Bubbles again! Bye everyone, nice meeting you all!" she ended cheerily, and hopped her way back down to the dark Slytherin dungeons.

With determination from all involved, the Frog Choir was coming together.
A plethora of personalities and pitches combined to create a promising pack. Their voices? Sublime. Their love of amphibians? Infinite. Pericles felt his heart swell with the promise of it all, though he hid his sentiment, only smiling awkwardly while waving his hands at Xailah and Henry. They had thoroughly convinced him that their cats could be trusted, though it didn't take much to do so. He liked cats far more than frogs, but he wouldn't dare admit it out loud. Having a few lounging on the sidelines would surely be fine so long as he had a chance to pet them. "Alright, alright... I trust you all to know your pets. They can come." A nod of gratitude was directed towards Henry and Rose as they assured they'd attend the next get-together, and Peri would watch with fondness as the witch carried Squirt away on a shoulder. This was a wonderful exercise for the frogs and toads, as well as- he hoped- the singers.

Things were winding to a close, staved off only by the late arrival. Naturally, it was director's initial instinct to accommodate, especially with the wheezing state Aurora was in. If he had been joking about the use of Vera Verto, he didn't show it, only meeting Xailah's dispassionate leer with one of ignorant innocence. "Oh..." came the drifting murmur, looking between both bins and Aurora, "...I suppose not." When asked with a wagging finger how he would feel if flippantly transfigured, Peri passively returned, "I think I'd be impressed by such an elaborate feat of human transformation." He slid a look towards Xailah, smiled, and flicked his focus forwards again. Was that sass? If so, she was absolutely to blame. He was only learning it from her. But just as the metamorph's cunning seemed to be rubbing off on her eaglette counterpart, it looked like his empathy was chipping away at her icy exterior. Aurora insisted she was fine, but before Pericles could stop her- well, no, that wasn't right. He could have said something to Xailah long before she left the room, and looked as though he was about to, all hints of playfulness fading into a gentle concern as he called "Ah, it's alright, Xai...." If he knew anything about Xailah however, it was that once she was on a mission, there was nearly no chance of stopping her.

“Is it good? Oh, that’s new.”
A tiny tuneless scoff escaped Pericles, not the scornful sort, but one formed when entertainment clashed with confusion. Both an eyebrow and one side of his mouth quirked for a perplexed half-grin as he asked "Why wouldn't it be?" It was good to have anyone show up for such an odd audition, really, and he knew better than to take them for granted. Of course it was good. The smile softened as she said she'd visit the bins, and Peri insisted "Take your time" before turning to the others, carrying on about the intended handling meet. He didn't want to put pressure on Aurora as she tried to pick her partner. Toadally was the name she picked, a perfect pun if ever he'd heard one. Pericles' eyes creased at the corners come the surprised look she gave her toad as he began to "sing" along. Her song was sweet and sad, one he had never heard before, and the director was careful not to interrupt even as Xailah rejoined them, cup in hand. He mouthed a silent Thank you though was otherwise fixated on the audition. Come its conclusion, he cleared his throat, dispelling a little lump there which formed as a result of the moving music. "Well done, Aurora and Toadally. I'm glad you decided to join our choir."

He waved back while Rose and Henry left, and at Starlee's thanks, smiled wide with a faux formal half-bow at the waist. "Thank you for coming," he called back at the end of the brief dip. "I'm sure if he could, Bubbles would say he was glad to have met you." In his own way, it seemed the toad did, what with the way he had rested so easily in her hands.
