2021, Stage 3 Group A: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin Finished

𝓐madea steadied herself, taking a deep breath. She could do this. Focusing on the spell, she commanded, "Rictusempra!" She watched as the spell soared from the end of her wand, in the direction of her target. Unfortunately, it seemed as though her aim was off and the spell whizzed right by Astrea.

Henry's spell had split, veering off toward both Lydia and Amadea. She was quick enough to dodge out of the way but her partner was not so lucky. Lydia was hit with the force from the Wind Jinx. Amadea quickly glanced over at her partner. "Are you okay?" she asked. Her co-captain was strong and Amadea knew that one hit was barely anything. Giving Lydia a reassuring smile, Amadea prepared herself for the next round.

Round 2

The next moves were much more spectacular to watch. The spells got off just nicely, not in everyone's desired favour, though.

Amadea, despite being a skilled duellist, suddenly cast a spell and it backfired right at herself. Do not play with fire if you aren't a Perfectionist. Meenauh shot a glance at Astrea — Meenauh remembered what she felt when Astrea went past her earlier and it seemed Amadea was somehow feeling it as well. It was disorienting. The fire was conjured by attacked its caster. Sometimes wands didn't want to listen. Wands are from wood anyway, so it's only fair they do not like fire.

Henry flicked another Wind Jinx Amadea's way, but probably because of the backfired fire, her movements were not as easy to predict as he thought.

Lydia chose not to cast, but jump around to prevent being hit. Astrea was determined to hit this time and she managed to do it even though it was really hard to guess where Lydia would move next.

Henry focused his mind and took a breath before not even wasting a second as his wand moved like a serpent and the teen shouted"Ventus," toward the hufflepuff co captain; Amadea but unfortunately he hadn't anticipate the girl's own incendio backfiring forcing her to move out of the way of his perfectly cast wind jinx.

Henry slightly scorn himself for missing his target but didn't allow the momentary failure to cloud his focus for the duration of the duel. Taking a brief moment to eye and give a short nod toward Astrea's knockback jinx which successfully met it's target; Lydia who apparently was focused on dodging that round then casting.

Henry took note that neither him or his third year partner was suffering from any effects of a casting before focusing his mind again and readying his wand with their strategy fresh in his mind and wand at the ready as the teen was ready for the next round of actions to come

Things really didn't want to go well in this round apparently. After nodding to Amadea in order to let her know that she was okay, Lydia decided to concentrate and not getting hit again in this round. However, that did not go according to the plan. Astrea had cast a knockback jinx towards her, and even if Lydia really wanted to avoid getting hit, her legs did not move fast enough: the jinx hit her, and she couldn't help but being hit hard.

Things didn't seem to be going that well for Amadea either; Lydia briefly managed to catch a glimpse of her own spell backfiring, before she got hit by Astrea's jinx. The only positive side was that at least Henry's spell didn't hit her duelling partner. "Are you alright Amadea?" she asked her in a worried voice. Then she looked at their opponents and took a deep breath. They could still do this, as long as Lydia properly concentrated and managed not to get hit again.

Brilliant red erupted from the tip of Astrea's wand, the familiar spell bursting forth across the duelling piste with a reaction far more fruitful than her first attempt. Her Hufflepuff adversary, weighed down by the current of wind, seemed flightier than usual- attempting to dodge rather than cast, but to no avail. A note of curling satisfaction enraptured her as the spell hit its mark- by now, she knew how much damage that single incantation could do. How devastating it could become when wielded.

A burst of flame from her peripheral. A brief explosion of a backfired incendio from the opposing captain, the light flickering as another jet of air from her partner whizzed past. Strange a move for a duelist of such rank- though she had no room to comment, having fallen victim to the same fate- but a blunder fortunate for them.

They were faring decently, all things considered, but lulling herself into false security would do no one any favours. Keep sharp, child, and knock on wood. They had a sound strategy laid out and she merely needed to keep it up. They could roll with the punches, but a reliable sense of teamwork and ease of adaptability would carry them forward when their careful planning inevitably fell through.

𝓐madea took a deep breath before inhaling and waving her wand, commanding, "Incendio!" To her surprise, she didn't see any spark of light emerge from the tip of her wand and in that second, it registered. A moment later, before she could react (not that there was much she could do about it), the spell had slammed into her chest and she was hit with the force of the spell intended for her opponent. Her face went beet red; backfiring spells was something that happened to every duellist but it was still so embarrassing when it happened. She was a fourth year which meant that she had a lot of experience with casting spells; Amadea knew she couldn't beat herself up too much about it, though. If she was in her head for the rest of the duel it would definitely make them lose, and that wouldn't be fair to Lydia or the Hufflepuff team. She took a deep breath and smiled at Lydia.

"I'm good, how are you?" she asked. Lydia had been hit with a Knockback Jinx that looked quite painful but her partner was still standing. Amadea wiggled her fingers, trying to shake out all of the negative energy. This round hadn't worked out exactly the way they planned, but it was okay. They could make a comeback.

Round 3

The duel suddenly turned wild. Amadea's quick Flipendo hit the unexpected Slytherin boy right in the chest, setting him back and probably being the reason why his repeated Ventus didn't meet its target. Basically, Amadea countered the spell.

Lydia, who tried to add some knockback force to Amadea's spell, beautifully cast the spell, but the next moment she was thrown off to the stage's border by Astrea's Knockback Jinx. And Lydia's spell never reached Henry.

"Stop the duel," Meenauh hastily shouted because she didn't expect this phrase to be announced that early. As the beautiful Hufflepuff was taken off the stage, it seemed that the crowd could start watching the duel, instead of constantly throwing glances to view and absorb the beauty of the part-Veela.

The uneasy aura still remained on the stage, it seemed, and the odds were not in Hufflepuff captain's favour.

"Continue," she unpaused the duel.
