The spells flew and round two had begun. The Gryffindor team were regrouping; Rose reached up to untie her blindfold, successfully ridding herself of the cloth. Unfortunately, she was not quick enough to take it off and was unable to see the spell Santario sent flying her way. Amadea winced; the Tickling Charm was a painful one - not in the sense that it caused actual stabbing pains, but because the sensation of being tickled was quite unsettling and definitely threw off a duelist's game. Luckily, Rose managed to avoid the Knockback Jinx Bridget had cast. Nicholas cast his own Knockback Jinx toward Bridget, who leapt out of the way a second too slowly. The spell grazed her shoulder as she took the impact from only part of the spell. Amadea made sure that all of the duellists were still standing and then stepped back, ready to see what would happen next.

Aiming for Rose was the logical course of action, now that she was blindfolded. It should have been easy, too, what with her inability to see, and yet Bridget still missed. Her aim wasn't atrocious, but it was off, enough so that Rose could blindly avoid it. Santario had hit her Tickling Charm, at least.

Due to some combination of disappointment at herself for missing and exceptional aim on the first year's part, she again did not quite avoid Nicholas' spell. It was even less of a hit this time, though, the Knockback Jinx just barely grazing her, not even enough force there to make her stumble back a step. Still, it was rather annoying. She could usually remain relatively untouched regardless of how poorly she did offensively, so she was not impressed with her current mediocrity in both areas.

Of course, getting into her own head was dangerous. She knew that. Getting frustrated would only mean further mistakes and it wasn't like she'd done anything harmful to their chances at winning yet. She just needed to keep focusing. It was only round two, after all; plenty of time remained to turn things around.

Rose reached up to rip her blindfold off of her face, dropping it on the ground. She could now finally see again. Taking the blindfold off had been the best course of action for Rose, as she really doubted she could be able to hit anyone or, for that matter, dodge. She looked up just in time to see the blue light of Nicholas' Flipendo hit Bridget. With a look at Bridget, she could see that she was also a little singed. That meant both of Nicholas' spells had hit so far in the duel. "Good job, Nick!" she called through the continued wind blowing in her face. Maybe they weren't so doomed after all, with Nicholas' stroke of luck.

Even though Nicholas was a first year, Rose felt like the underdog in this whole situation. She had already been hit several times, and was still suffering the effects of the spells that had hit her. A Knockback Jinx came shooting her way, and she was able to barely dodge it, but then she was hit with another spell.

She burst into giggles as the tickling sensation started up in her stomach. Rose tried to bite the inside of her mouth to stop the laughing. It only mostly worked, and only for a couple of seconds, before she started giggling again. She fought the sensation, trying to force it to go away. This was probably one of the few times she didn't want to be laughing. It was throwing her focus off. She made a huge effort to focus on the duel. Come on.

Santario raised a brow as Nocholas managaed to hit Bridget, if only barely, once more. It would be noted that the boy's aim was true. Regardless, however, Bridget seemed really no worse for wear which was good.

Santario's own aim had been true as well sending Rose into a fit of giggles while still being effected by the elevated winds of Ventus. It couldn't have been a comfortable situation to sure, but Santario couldn't help but allow a small smile of pride play with her lips as she readied for the next round.

The words left Nicholas's mouth as if on instinct as he cast his second spell, "Flipendo!" The knock-back jinx shot out, once more towards Bridget, and once more it barely managed to hit her. The boy's face remained carefully measured as the spell grazed his opponent's shoulder. He hadn't missed, but he hadn't hit her dead on either. As a whole, it was neither something to cheer for nor something to be disappointed by. He'd come into the match expecting not to land a single spell, however, and there was a certain sense of pride that continued to well at his ability to hold his own. Said pride only swelled further as his more experienced dueling partner shouted encouragement toward him.

Of course, part of the reason why he was holding his own was because the Slytherin duo were targeting that same partner. Bridget, who he'd targeted with flipendo, seemed to have a similar idea, as she cast her own knock-back jinx at Rose. Fortunately, the blinded girl managed to avoid it, and the boy found himself internally cheering. Only for those cheers to be quelled when Santario's tickling charm hit her. Nicholas watched out of the corner of his eye as Rose managed to unblindfold herself, only to be forced to fight the fit of giggles that she had been cursed with.

Nicholas hadn't been hit as of yet, but he knew that was because he was the lesser threat of the two. He was younger, more inexperienced, and without the bevy of magical knowledge that the second year had. Despite his own successful spells and his fortunate avoidance of being hit by a spell himself, he couldn't help but feel like they were losing. That just wouldn't do.

The sparks flew as the duellists cast their next spells. From the Gryffindor team, Nicholas was the only one to cast toward the Slytherins, sending a Knockback Jinx toward Bridget again. This time, the Slytherin was quick enough to dodge out of the way from the incoming spell, avoiding any damage. Bridget casted the Sneezing Hex back toward Nicholas, perhaps retaliation for the other Knockback Jinx that had hit her and the spell successfully found its target. Nicholas would find himself quite busy sneezing, making it difficult to cast spells properly.

Rose focused on dodging this round, but unfortunately, was not quick enough to evade Santario's Knockback Jinx that hit Rose squarely. The force of the spell was enough to make the Gryffindor fall to the floor, unconscious. Amadea immediately held up her arms, pausing the duel so no further damage could be done until Rose was checked on. She watched as Rose was carried away from the duel, and Amadea hoped that she would feel better soon. Then, she turned back to the remaining duellists. "Okay, you can continue," she said to them.

Not a moment after he had cast his spell, once more targeting Bridget, did Nicholas become aware of just how quickly things had gone awry. His spell missed, it seemed that the Slytherin girl had finally gotten into a rhythm with her dodging of his hastily shot out hexes. And as if to answer for his wanton targeting of her throughout the duel, she struck back at the first year, the sneezing spell that shot from her wand hitting the boy squarely on the chest before he could react. His body processed the effect before his mind could, the rampant sneezes ripping out of his chest and mouth, causing him to splutter.

Nicholas would have grumbled something, but he couldn't, and instead he resigned himself to raising his offhand up to his mouth, trying to stifle the non-stop sneezing with his elbow. He couldn't think, and the constant forced closings of his eyes meant that he couldn't see very well either. How was he supposed to cast spells like this?

He shot a glance toward his partner, hoping that Rose at least had managed to do better than he had. Instead, he found himself feeling entirely defeated by the sight of the girl sprawling on the floor. She hadn't been quick enough to dodge, and Santario's knockback jinx had knocked her out cold.

Nicholas opened his mouth to ask if she was okay, only to find that another sneeze left it instead of his intended words. He felt so powerless to help, so useless, as the referee halted to the duel to see the girl carried off from the match. Nicholas watched it all happen, unable to even process that he was now facing the two girls alone between the non-stop sneezing and his worry for his partner.

But he was forced back to reality when the Hufflepuff captain announced that the duel would recommence. Nicholas faced the two Slytherins, his face all but obscured behind his arm as he tried to waylay the spluttering. He had to at least put on a good showing, had to at least get some semblance of vengeance for Rose.

Nicholas was not going to hit her three times in a row, she'd made up her mind on that. Rose may have been deemed the initial focus, a bigger threat than Nicholas as she was older and more experienced, but ignoring him would be a mistake and even small hits would add up eventually. It made sense to have Santario go for Rose, anyway; the Gryffindor wasn't looking too good and Santario's spells tended to be more powerful than hers, therefore more likely to finish the job.

With the majority of her attention on him, it was easy to sidestep his spell. She took aim, and with the incantation of "Steleus!" sent the first year into a sneezing fit. It was a rather brutal spell from what she could see, though not as nasty as the Curse of the Bogies. This was the first time she'd used the spell in a duel before. With the near-constant effects of it, he'd have a hard time casting for the next few rounds, much less aiming.

Meanwhile, Santario had sent one final Knockback Jinx at Rose. Despite directing all her efforts to dodging, the lingering winds of Ventus made her too slow. Just like that, Rose was out. Her removal from the stage provided a moment to regroup, pushing down any of the remaining annoyance she'd used to fuel her cast at Nicholas. This wasn't over yet.

Initially, they had hoped that Rose would have been out the round before; unfortunately, that had not been the case but a minor setback, to say the least. Santario’s previous choice on the tickling charm had been a bit of a joke. She knew that Rose had lost, now, all of her duels this season. At least this time, she got to go out with a smile on her face, even if it was forced. Santario focused on Rose and flourished her wand in the spell’s motion. “Flipendo. The lioness had tried to dodge it, and it was a valiant effort, but her effort wasn’t good enough as she was sent backward unconscious.

As Amadea called for them to stop, Santario fell into a relaxed pose, her hands clasped behind her back as she patiently waited for the girl to be checked on and removed. Perhaps, Santario would send up some chocolates to the infirmary for the girl as this one she felt a little badly about. Rose had not tried to chirp at them or make mocking faces. She had been a proper opponent, and Santario respected that. To Santario, this was a game, a deadly game, but a game. All friendships were left at the door of the duelling room and all hard feelings as well.



Amadea’s voice brought her head straight back into the game, and Santario focused on the only person left, Nicholas. As usual, her face was set in a passive expression, but those piercing blue eyes were hungry for her third win.

Spells flew again, and Rose was still being hit by the wind jinx. She didn't think she would be able to hit anyone this round, so she just tried her best to dodge any of the spells that were sent towards her.

She was hit in the chest with the Knockback Jinx anyway. It was like time had slowed down and she hadn't been able to jump out of the way. It was a cruel impact, and it knocked the wind out of her first. Then, just like that, she flew backwards, gritting her teeth as the ground flew at her.

Rose Moon had failed. Again.
