2021, Stage 3 Group F: Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff Finished

Robert was tense with anticipation as he stepped onto the platform. The young eagle was both excited and nervous to face his first evenly matched opponents, both in years, experience, and track record. If his first duel had been ridiculously short and his second had been ridiculously long, hopefully this one would be a good balance between the two. "Good luck you two!" he called over to the Hufflepuffs before settling into his dueling pose, smoothly going through the motions of his pre-duel ritual. The eagle took a deep breath and glanced over at his partner. "Let's do this."

Their third and final duel of the tournament. It would be an understatement to say Delilah was hyped. Their first duel was unbalanced favouring the opponent, their second favouring them. Meanwhile their first duel was intensely short and the second intensely long. This match was even, her and frost were in the same year, Robert and Lea were in the same year. It was simply a match of skill. Delilah got prepared to cast the first spells, as she looked over at Robert. "Let's go!" She said with excitement.

An extension was requested and granted earlier today. The new deadline is in about 17 hours, so please post and get in your actions by then!

The last stage. From winning to losing, this duel felt as though it could go either way really. Lea twirled a bracelet around her wrist, feet tapping slightly as she tried not to pay attention to the people or the panic that came with duelling. Frost certainly helped, grateful that their team hadn't switched throughout the year. This would be fun, surely, a hope that would grow more as it repeated in her mind. Fair, fun, final...

"Good luck to you, too." Her attention turned to her teammate. "Ready?"

Frost took a deep breath as she stepped onto her area of the stage, her wonderful teammate beside her. The last duel hadn't been quite what she hoped, but still fun nonetheless. You win some, you lose some, no biggie- that had always been her mindset when it came to any kind of sport. Though she could say that this duel especially would be interesting since she was up against Delilah, someone she was working her way on getting closer to. Hopefully to be friends in the near future.

This team seemed to be much nicer than the last, which was refreshing. Before starting, Frost would wish the other team good luck as well. At Lea's 'Ready?', Frost would smile and give her a thumbs up, "Mhm!"

The duellists did not need to be told to start twice, all four springing into action. They all started by casting, the spell selection notably less brutal than usual. Instead, three of the four duellists aimed to impair an opponent's vision, both fourth years opting for Obscuro and the first year going for the closest thing he had, Verdimillious. It would be the small Hufflepuff first year to break the pattern, producing a bout of flames from her wand. While the cast itself was nothing exceptional, her aim was flawless. Lea would be perfectly composed as she flicked her wand at Robert, feeling a wave of calm from her older teammate. The Hufflepuffs would not be the only ones burning today, though Robert had the fortune of not catching aflame.

Just before the arrival of the fiery spell, Robert sent a Green Sparks Charm at Frost. Not quite as perfect as Lea's aim, the spell was still on point, Frost failing to avoid it in time. Until she blinked away the bright spots, she would have trouble aiming. Frost, too, had landed her spell, a swath of fabric wrapping around Delilah's face.

Delilah may have ended up blindfolded, but it was an equal exchange, her Blindfolding Spell affecting Lea. The cast had been rather shaky, only barely managing to sputter out of her wand. What it lacked in casting was made up with precision, and goodness, was this spell well-aimed. Unlike Lea, Delilah would have no calming aid, and yet she did not need it. Lea was quite quick, just not quick enough to avoid the blindfold.

With the first round concluded, Bridget was impressed. All four duellists had hit, clearly not letting any nerves get the best of them. The round to come would be interesting, too, with two of the duellists blindfolded and another not much better. A great start indeed, and she was eager to see how they'd deal with their new situation.

It was impossible for Robert to suppress his grin after the first round, even if he was now mildly scorched. This duel already had all the components of the sport he'd missed in the last one, which had been mostly composed of boredly lobbing the same spell time after time again at the same target, waiting for one to finally hit. He'd missed this rush of exhilaration, this feeling of adrenaline coursing through his veins, making everything sharper, clearer. He'd missed this mental stimulation that classes just couldn't quite simulate, hundreds of scenarios flashing through his head in a split second, a general plan from before the duel constantly flowing, changing, adapting, to the new circumstances.

Having cast her blindfolding spell, she found herself being hit by the same. It was a bit disorienting, not entirely sure whether somebody else had hit her or whether hers had backfired and landed on her own eyes. But her spell didn't feel wrong...she was usually pretty on target, except when aiming for that Gryffindor everly...
