He would nod, as he smiled softly, listening to her words with all his attention, it was curious, to Aldor, listening to others talk was one of his favorite things, maybe that is the reason as to why he enjoyed books, maybe he couldn't hear them talk, but he could see how the story was being told to him, after all, he didn't enjoy talking that much, and learning new things was always fun.

''Wow- I'm sure both of you can paint amazing things, I was never good at drawing or painting, it is kind of hard to express what's in my head with colors-''

The Hufflepuff's smile would fade for a few seconds as Elzabeth mentioned writting to her parents, lately, the boy hasn't talked to his family, except for his older brother and his aunt, who at this point, were probably the only family he had that actually did an effort on comunicating with him. But he didn't want to focus on that, so instead he smiled again, and thought of a way of keeping the conversation going.

''I see, I don't do much either, reading of course but otherwise- I like taking naps at the lake sometimes, when I d0n't want to stay in the dorms on my free time, not that often, because apparently a lot of people enjoy being at the lake too.''

He would place his right hand over his neck, as he thought of what he would say next, things weren't going as badly as Aldor first thought they would go.

Elzabeth nodded along, her mind drifting to the lake as he mentioned it. It did seem like a nice napping place, though the last time she was there she had left with a few . . . injuries.

"Taking a nap on a warm day sounds like such a good idea." She could almost imagine the sun on her face. It seemed the nice weather days were passing them by, a downside to living in this part of the world.

"Have you ever had a picnic out there? I've always wanted to but I've never had someone to do it with." She knew her grandma and dad would be the ones to join her if they were here, her mother, on the other hand, would opt out for her preferred position on the couch.

She couldn't exactly blame her mom for wanting to take some time on the couch, especially with her line of work. Her late hours and stressful load made her tired when she had free time, and it wasn't like Elzabeth could complain, she was out there saving lives.

A breeze lifted through the courtyard and blew some of her hair into her face. Elzabeth let out an annoyed sigh, tucking it behind her ears again.

Aldor would tilt his head slightly, staring at the floor for a few seconds, thinking about what she just mentioned. A picnic? It didn't seem like such a bad idea, the few friends he had would probably enjoy that, but sometimes they were busy, minding their own bussiness or just studying really hard, which was understandable.

''Never thought about doing a picnic to be honest, I usually go there when I am alone but- It honestly sounds quite fun, you could owl me for whenever you need some company. I'm- not great at talking but you know, I can listen.''

Aldor smiled nervously, as he took a few strands of his hair and began twirling it with his index finger. Having a picnic was something that his aunt would want to do, she always worried about the boy's shy and nervous ways of being, but at least, he was capable of talking to another person without feeling panic.

''So- do you have any favorite type of pastry? Or maybe you have a hard time choosing like me? ''

He looked back at Elzabeth, making eye contact with her, he froze, he just now realised how pretty her eyes were, but he shook his head lightly and smiled softly, trying not to think about that, but he was unable to hide the intense blush that was still showing on his face.

At first, the Hufflepuff thought he would have been fine own his own today, but after thinking a lot, he realised that maybe after so many crazy things that have happened with his friends, he just needed a day to meet someone new and talk normally,

Elzabeth leaned back against the bench, her fingers running across the spine of her book. "I couldn't choose, there are so many different kinds." She sighed.

Her grandma used to always make the best scones when she came over. One year her mom tried to recreate the recipe and it just didn't taste the same. Elzabeth chalked it up to grandma magic.

"I think anything with fruit filling is my favorite. That and chocolate, you can never go wrong with chocolate." Elzabeth decided. She couldn't come up with one chocolate treat that she didn't like, they all seemed to make Elzabeths mouth explode with its rich taste.

One easter she had gotten ahold of those chocolate bunnies, her mom practically pried it out of her hands before she could eat the whole thing. Her father ended up giving it back to her later in the day to stop her from complaining.

"What about you? I know you said you couldn't choose but do you at least have a preference?" Elzabeth asked, turning her attention back to him. She didn't want to get too carried away and forget to ask him, the last thing she wanted was to come off rude or self-centered.

Aldor thought for a few seconds after Elzabeth asked if he had any preference, even though he didn't preffer anything in taste, there were a few things that brought him memories, so he usually enjoyed the times in which he is able to prepare them.

''Apple pie or anything with chocolate, my aunt always prepares a wonderful apple pie, and as you said, you can never go wrong with chocolate, well, unless you are making chocolate chip cookies and add a bit too much salt into the batter-''

He chuckled, looking down at the floor with a nervous smile, almost as if he was implying that he had done that 'little' mistake in the past.

Even now, he remembers how anxious he was when he sh0wed the final product to his aunt, he couldn't stand how awful they tasted, but his aunt was eating the cookies as if nothing was wrong with them, he knew that probably she didn't really like them, but he appreciated that she did such an amazing effort at still eating them.

On the other hand, apple pie reminded him of the first day he spent in his aunt's home, at first, that day was horrible, of course, Aldor couldn't think of any child feeling fine after having to experience such a terrible thing as being given away by their own parents. But his aunt managed to cheer him up, and so, Aldor adapted to living away from the rest of his family, it was true that he could not stop thinking about them, but at least he wasn't that worried anymore.

Elzabeth chuckled. She had some first-hand experience with messing a meal or two up. "I'm actually horrible at cooking and baking though. Something about the kitchen just hates me." No matter what she was trying to do, she was bound to mess it up in one way or another.

"One time I was trying to make scrambled eggs and I managed to burn them to the pan." She admitted, her cheeks growing rosy with embarrassment. "I swear I only took my eyes off of them for a few minutes."

Elzabeth brushed her hair out of her face, scratching the back of her head. "It became a problem though when I started a fire."

It was a small fire, barely the size of Elzabeth's palm, but it was still super scary. "After that, I wasn't allowed to cook without my mom or dad in the same room, not that I've had very many opportunities."

A part of her was a little scared to even try after that, no matter how much Elzabeth wanted to make the delicious holiday foods that made her mouth water, she figured it just wasn't meant to be. It was better to be safe and stay away from the open flame than be sorry and cause more damage to her small kitchen back home.

Aldor couldn't help but chuckle at the comment of her starting a fire, maybe at first it sounded like he was making fun of her, but soon enough he commented something else that would break that mindset.

''I am an absolute proffesional at burning stuff, I remember one time I tried to cook a steak in the back garden with my aunt, and well- we had to order chinese food later because we would have eaten charcoal otherwise. It was absolutely terrible, the worst part is that I was just supposed to only flip the steak, and somehow I still managed to burn it, that, is truly the way to fail at doing a simple task.''

He would play with his hair again, but he seems a little more relaxed this time, his shoulders were down and he was still doing his best to make eye contact every so often, finally getting used to Elzabeth's presence.

''I am not that bad anymore though, well, I can at least cook on my own, of course, it is not always great but- I suppose it does still work.''

Something told him that Elzabeth would be a nice friend, even when he was a little afraid at first, he stopped worrying the small things that were stuck in his head, and instead focused on the conversation that he was in, it was simple, after all, having a break from all the crazy things that happened in his life was probably good for Aldor.

But something about Elzabeth still had Aldor a little confused, he couldn't help but feel an awkward sensation around her, it wasn't bad it was just. . . strange, it was hard for him to explain it, since he never really looked much into this sort of feeling, and barely ever had it. He actually started liking her, but for someone who had such a hard time even trying to explain when he was happy, this was an absolutely terrifying and unknown thing.

Elzabeth laughed. "At least you're aunt trusts you enough to try." She started to wonder if Aldor lived with his aunt since he hadn't mentioned any of his parents yet. As curious as she was, Elzabeth wasn't stupid, she wasn't going to ask him a possibly sensitive question.

Suddenly an idea popped into her head, her eyes shifting in the direction of the main hall. "Have you ever seen the kitchen?" Elzabeth asked.

She had only heard rumors about the house-elves that worked to make them food, yet she had never seen one in the halls. In fact, she had never seen a house-elf in her life. Her father mentioned them every now and then, along with the organization that was meant to free them, though she couldn't quite remember the name.

"I've heard it's hard to access, but I would love to get in there and see." She admitted. Surely she wouldn't get in too much trouble for paying the house-elves a visit? Immediately Elzabeth silently scolded herself.

She couldn't go around doing things she wasn't supposed to, it was too much risk this year and the last thing she wanted was to get in trouble with the school, then with her mom.

Aldor finally snapped out of his thoughts, looking back at Elzabeth, blushing slightly as he listened to her talking about the kitchen, it was true that it was pretty hard to access and there were supposedly some elves in the kitchen, he heard of this at some point, he is great at listening, and sometimes, even if he doesn't want to, he tends to hear conversation he doesn't want to hear. Thankfully, he never tells this things to anyone else, but this kind of skill could be dangerous in someone else's hands.

Anyone else would've lowered their voice when talking about rumors such as what the boy was about to mention, but Aldor's voice was too quiet already, so he simply looked up at Elzabeth with a smile and decided to speak about what he has heard.

''Do you know of the rumors? About the elves in the kitchen?-''

Aldor seemed happy, talking about his theories and other things made him have quite a bit of joy, after all, it wasn't common for the Hufflepuff to find someone that he could talk about bassically anything freely, even though, this was pretty obvious, the kid was extremly shy, and had no clue on how to talk normally with others.

''I wonder if there's a way that we can talk to them, or at least see them if possible, of course, it is virtually impossible, but at least it would be pretty interesting-''

Elzabeth nodded, her mind trying to go over how you were rumored to get in. "I've never really seen a house-elf before," Elzabeth admitted.

"My father was the only wizard in the family, and since my mom worked at a hospital in Bristol I grew up in a muggle community." Elzabeth looked at Aldor, wondering if he grew up around magic unlike her.

"I didn't even know the wizarding world was this big until I got my letter. My father never talked about it beyond his work." She shrugged. Most of the stories he had to tell her were about the criminals he had captured or was tracking down, which never really did paint this side of the world in a good light. It wasn't until Elzabeth got here and learned more about this side of her life when she realized that there was so much more beyond what he had been telling her.

"Most of that was my mom's fault though," Elzabeth muttered. Her mom was stricter when it came to magic in the house, she was afraid someone might see and they would get in trouble. Sometimes Elzabeth wondered how she could have married a Wizard and still be so afraid of the world he was a part of.
