Homesick abandoned

Earlier that day, Aurelia woke up frustrated. Everything annoyed her, even her Bestfriend couldn't make her smile. When she went Great hall for breakfast, she didn't have the appetite to eat. She usually listened to classes attentively but instead, she leaned against her hand, sketching on pieces of paper. She sketched a beautiful art piece of her cottage in England with the flowers blooming in the fields. Her Mother was the one who taught her how to create such enchancing works. Then it hit her, she missed home. During, the class on potionery, she excused herself, saying she was sick. It was true, she was homesick. She knew contacting her parents would make her feel better. She had grabbed her sack and ran as fast as her long legs could to the the owlery.

Aurelia looked up. She saw the a spiral staircase that lead the the room where all the owls were kept. She started climbing. Her legs ached by the time she climbed the last flight of stairs. She pushed the door open and hoots of owls greeted her. There were more than hundreds of owls nestled in thier Pigeon holes. Finding her owl, Rosiedust, later was going to be similar to searching for a needle in a haystack.

Aurelia sat on the nearest bench she could find. She dipped her quill into the ink bottle she just laid out. She thought about what she was going to write to her parents about. There were so many things to talk about. She listed the options.

First of all, she missed her parents. Even though food in Hogwarts was delicious, She missed the taste of the lies her Mother would cook for her during the weekends. She also missed the green fields she would play in near her cottage. She missed swaying on the swing outside in her backyard. She hated the smell of dusty halls as she walked along the corridors during her free time. She hated how poorly lit the halls in Hogwarts were. She missed home.

"Dear Mother and Father," she wrote.

Mia walked up the stairs into the owlery, clutching a piece of parchment paper. Another girl was there already, a tall one, with long dark hair that rippled in the dim light of the room. She was bent over a bench, writing. Mia intended to do the same thing. She found a flat surface across from the girl and took out her quill.

Dear Mother and Father,

I regret to inform you that I did not make friends with the Rosier girl. I did meet several Ravenclaws (brilliant conversationalists), and a few Gryffindors. I also met Silver and Winterwood (Yes THE Winterwood). I did meet Scott though! I know your position on me communicating with him, but I love him dearly. He is the best cousin I could ask for. He's in Gryffindor now, so we are estranged, but I met him in the library the other day, and I love to talk to him occasionally in the great hall. Enough about me. How is Rachel? I plan to ask the head of my house if I can go to St Mungo's again for a weekend. I miss her. I hope she is in a better condition.

Love,
Mia

Mia put the letter into an envelope and searched for the school owl that she usually used. The owl was nowhere to be found. She glanced at the girl and walked toward her.

"Excuse me, do you know where a school owl would be situated?"

Sophie walked up the stairs to the school's Owlery. A small, white letter clutched tightly in her hand. There was a small stamp, holding the letter tightly together. The parchment inside was scribbled on.

Dear Dad,

Hey. Its your daughter, Sophie. I'm sending this to your office so you'll find it. I thought I'd write to you first, since I've already written to mum twice. Anyway, How is work going? I bet being an Auror is fun. I was thinking about being an Auror as well! What do you think? I think its a good idea, but, I'm not doing so well in Charms, nor D.A.D.A. Maybe being a muggle therapist, like what mum sought out, was a good idea after all. Well, I'll see you over the break, alright? Make sure to look after mum, after Kiki's death. And get off of work for once, alright? Thanks. Love you.

Sophie pushed open the door just to hear someone say

"Excuse me, do you know where a school owl would be situated?"

Sophie glanced inside and saw two girls, both had dark-brown hair, and both were sending owls. No duh, why else would they be in the Owlery?

"Well, technically you can use any of the owls, just make sure they're up to the job. The smaller owls are for smaller journeys, and the larger owls for large journeys. Of course, if you have your own owl, you can use them."  Sophie would explain, as she tied a letter to a beautiful snowy white owl. The owl had piercing pale blue eyes, and black wing markings. The owl seemed eager to be flying, as she took off almost immediately.

"I'm Sophie by the way, Sophie Murphy, from Gryffindor."

Goodbye lovelies!

A girl of a medium height walked in-Mia's guess was 4'11-and spoke to her. She introduced herself as Sophie.

"Thank you Sophie. I'm quite new here, as you can probably tell."-Mia smiled and stuck out her hand-"Mia. Mia Alexander of Slytherin. First year."

Mia walked over to a snowy white owl of a medium size and strapped the letter to it, taking great care not to hurt it. She petted it softly and smiled to herself. She then smiled-again!-up at the girl, taking note of her bright and curious eyes.

"It seems like everyone's sending a letter at this time. When I come up here it's usually deserted."

Mia always made sure to chart the traffic going into the Owlery, and this was supposed to be the time with the lowest traffic. She usually didn't mind people, but sending owls was a deeply personal thing, and she liked to be alone when she did it.

Dear Mother's and Father,
I've been thinking about you guys a lot and our peaceful cottage. I've missed you. I wished you were here to see how well I am coping. I've got plenty of friends, my roommates are extremely nice girls and we had tons of fun together. I'm coping well in school and getting the grades that I know would please you. I've not been causing any trouble so you don't need to worry.

Once again, I miss you guys and please owl me back when you have time

Love, Aurelia Bezuidenhout
Aurelia was finishing with her letter when two girls walked into the owler. When she saw the two other girls come in, she sniffed and swiftly wiped her tears away, hoping that they did not catch her.

The girl with dark brown hair asked where the owls were. Aurelia was about to open her mouth to answer when the girl with orange hair pointed where it would be.
"I'm Sophie by the way, Sophie Murphy, from Gryffindor."
Mia. Mia Alexander of Slytherin. First year.
They started introducing themselves, maybe she should too. She has never seen Sophie around even though she was in the same house.
"I'm Aurelia from Gryfindore. Aurelia Bezuidenhout. My last name is kind of a mouthful," She laughed.
