color=#101375Elzabeth's face was stony at first, her lips turned into an angry frown, then suddenly her expression changed into one of . . . well, complete amusement.
Laughter bubbled out of her lips and she attempted to trap it with her hands but failed. Elzabeth got to the point where she was bent over, her laugher bouncing off the stone walls. It was overall a very odd situation.
"I- I'm sorry!" She managed, shaking her head. It seemed she was finally getting herself under control, straightening back up to look Rhea in the eyes.
"It's just . . . you can't be serious? I mean, you're the one that stuck your nose in my business." Elzabeth folded her arms, cocking her head to the side. She looked so mean, it was almost like she was slipping into the same shoes her bullies wore back when she was in muggle school.
"You're so stupid." Her words slipped out like venom. "I almost feel bad." She muttered. If her dad had seen her know he probably wouldn't even recognize her. All of this stress to be the perfect student was starting to change her, if things continued down this path there's no telling how far she might take it.

She could feel her cheeks flushing, fire burning in her temples, her jaw clenching. Stupid? Sure, call her short, call her weak. Mock her for her intimidating stance and her small, childish glare. She'd heard it all before, might as well have been immune to it.
But stupid? No. No one called her stupid.
As Elzabeth spoke, Rhea could feel the rage filling her chest, compressing her skull, making her want to grip the Ravenclaw by the throat until she was all of the words vanished from her lungs. And when she finished talking, Rhea was truly ready to start throwing punches. This pathetic specimen of a human had no right to be speaking to Rhea like this.
As she raised her fist, the reason in her mind seemed to finally untangle itself from the wrath, and she suddenly experienced a moment of total serenity. Time seemed to stop for a moment, opening a window for Rhea to observe the situation clearly and without a selfish bias. The red that had infected her vision dissolved, revealing... a sad, defensive little child. A pitiful person who Rhea had interrupted crying in the corridors, and who had somehow managed to find the chink in Rhea's armor, likely by mistake.
No. Elzabeth was not worth the trouble.
"Ok, whatever," she said to the Ravenclaw. "Good try, I suppose."
She paused, clinging onto the feeling of gazing upon the situation from afar, and tried to make a new judgement of her adversary. Perhaps this would get on her nerves, then.
"Here's what I think of you, Elza," she said calmly. "I think you're pathetic. No, not even pathetic. For that you'd have to have potential." She thought some more before continuing, "You are the most basic, bland, uninteresting person I have ever come across, and that's saying something. You are not worth my time, nor effort, and I guarantee I will forget this interaction the moment I turn away. I wish I could say I hated you, but honestly, I feel nothing about you at all." A wry laugh escaped her. "Honestly, you did almost get to me, so I'm impressed about that. But in the end, you're another overly-sensitive, unimportant, goody-two-shoes little girl, and I couldn't care less about you."
The Gryffindor turned around with an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. This was how you defeated twits like this. With the I-couldn't-care-less tactic.

color=#101375The breath left Elzabeth's lungs as Rhea's insults were hurled her way, the humor immediately fading off of her face. It felt like Rhea had sniffed out exactly what she didn't want to hear. Her worst insecurities and fears were exposed like an old wound, and it stung.
"Alright," Elzabeth whispered, the words falling out of her mouth. "Fine." She didn't have enough energy left in her to even want to come up with the rebuttal. Elzabeth adjusted her bag over her shoulder, biting into her lip to stop from crying and making an even bigger fool of herself.
"Well, I'm glad this brought you some sort of sick joy. I hope it at least made you feel better." The words died on Elzabeths lips, her chest heaving with the deep breaths she was taking in order to calm herself down.
That seemed to be exactly what Rhea was, sick. Elzabeth could come up with no other solution, why else would someone try to hurt her so deeply when it seemed to have been a surface-level argument?
Any motivation to go out and do anything today was squandered, all Elzabeth wanted to do was go to a quiet place and cry until she couldn't cry anymore.

Rhea felt a a guilty prick in the pit of her stomach. Had she gone too far? Was Elzabeth undeserving of that? It was apparent that her words had effectively hurt Elzabeth's feelings - but wasn't that the point of fighting? Hmmph. Or maybe it was just that the Ravenclaw could dish it out but not take it.
Nonetheless, she had genuinely upset Elzabeth, so maybe she should apologize. But, if she apologized, there was no way in hell that she'd be granted forgiveness, so the scenario would change to one where Rhea would have to beg for it. She wouldn't let that happen either. Trailing after Elzabeth, pleading "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it. Forgive me!" sounded like her worst nightmare.
She decided to leave. They were both in too deep and she didn't want this to become something either of them remembered in the long run. She'd be unaffected by this in a month, tops, so best to keep it that way.
"I don't know if it did, actually," Rhea replied. "Well, I ought to get going, then." Yes, it was probably wise to leave now, before either of them escalated the situation any further.
Did it make her feel better? Perhaps for a moment, yes. Now she just felt a bit sick in her stomach. Sick, like Elzabeth had called her, so maybe the blonde's intuition was better than Rhea had given her credit for. No, Elzabeth had meant sick like horrible. Like a horrible human being. Like what Rhea was.
"I'll see you," she muttered. "And by the way, your name sounds like your parents misspelled 'Elizabeth' on your birth certificate and then used it anyway."
Scowling, Rhea turned on her heel and sped off into the crowd filling the corridors. She didn't want to think about the look on Elzabeth's face anymore.Thread left (unless she's stopped)ReducioI feel so bad about all the insults from my last post! Poor ElzabethYou're great, and it was really fun threading with you. Hopefully they can meet up and reconcile at some point. Of course, I can keep posting here if you want! Just trying to finish up as many of my current threads as possible.

Elzabeth watched her go, the last insults hanging in the air. Believe it or not, she had heard that one before, it seemed her 'misspelled name was a good target when it came to insults.
When Elzabeth had first gotten to Hogwarts she thought that it would be different here. She was naive. It didn't matter where she would go, there would always be people like Rhea. She will always come across people who would strike her down in her weakest moments.
Elzabeth wiped away a tear as Rhea walked away, staring daggers into her back. She was past the point of anger where she wanted to reach out and strangle Rhea, now she felt just plain weak. God, she hated feeling weak.
Elzabeth turned around, walking towards the other end of the hall. She wasn't quite sure where she was going, she just knew that it needed to be a place she could cry without being seen.
The stone echoed back the lonely sound of her shoes tapping against the floor as she held back her tears. Not only did she have to hear from her mother about the messed-up grade but now she wasn't sure how she was going to get through the rest of the week feeling how she did.
If Rhea thought that about her then maybe she wasn't the only one? Maybe Elzabeth truly was just some boring little girl with nothing left to give?Elzabeth has left the thread.ReducioThank you for agreeing to do this with me! The drama was really fun and actually ended up revealing a few things I haven't gotten to go too in-depth with before this, so it might sting Elzabeth right now but she'll be better for it in the end. I'll be sure to owl you again if I ever feel up for another round, of course, don't be afraid to owl me too if you want!
