''Anything related to history is interesting but- I find herbology and anything related to other magical beings really interesting, I'm not that picky about the classes.'' Tory’s eyes widened. Of course she wasn’t surprised that Aldor enjoyed all classes- he seemed smart like that, but she was indeed shocked that she wasn’t the only history nerd around. History was boring to a lot of people. Too repetitive and predictable. But Tory loved that part, she was a woman of consistency, she was.
“Yeah for sure, but muggle history is way more interesting than whatever that professor is lecturing in his dusty old classroom, at least coming from somebody who’s never lived in the muggle world.” She agreed and commented. It was silent for a moment, but not uncomfortable silence. Tory had a feeling that silence would be continuous in this friendship, but she didn’t mind much. It wasn’t ever going to be a weird, awkward, silence, because the silence was always filled with her own thoughts and ideas. In the future, if the two were to sit in silence for hours, the Gryffindor knew it wouldn’t be odd. It’d be more like having the company of your friend and deep thoughts at the same time.
''What about you though? Do you have any favorites?'' Tory nodded. “I like all of them to, but my favorite so far is potions. The professor sorta scares me, but I don’t mind. It’s fun being scared because then I have to pressure myself to work harder and not mess up.”
It was true. She enjoyed being fearful, and she worked best under pressure. Well, most of the time, anyways. The pressure to get home from the lake by her home back to her house by 6:00 was quite a bunch of pressure that she hated. Attempting to sprint across a bridge, field, and meadow in under two minutes was quite the struggle.
“Tell me, Aldor, do you have any siblings?” She asked finally. It wasn’t a very personal question, but not a basic one either. One that wasn’t exactly a ‘I just met you and it’s awkward so I’m tryin’ to start conversations’ kind of question, but not a deep one like ‘are your parents dead or alive?’.

Aldor listened to his friend, wondering about every single one of the comments she made, honestly, he was expecting the friendship to go like this, he enjoyed listening to someone talk or explaining a point of view, he also had many of those, but he wasn't good at saying his opinions on anything so he would rather staying silent and learning about others than explaining how his mind worked.
The girl mentioned fear, and it being a way to push her limits and work harder to achieve a goal, Aldor wanted to relate to this feeling, but he couldn't, fear was something that he experienced on a daily basis, for that same reason he didn't feel like it was useful or something that helped him improve. He felt fear when he had to talk to others, he had fear when he had to deliver his homework, he felt fear when he thought about the many ways he can mess up everything, and he also felt it when he thought about his family.
As he got lost in this thought, Tory asked him if he had any siblings, destiny is a cruel companion, always bringing people to say things in the worst moment possible.
''Yeah, and older brother and a sister and uh, my younger sister-''
He wasn't angry or sad about the fact she asked about his family, but he didn't want to talk too much, and feeling embarrased afterwards, about the fact that nobody asked what he was saying. He knew that Tory wouldn't get mad if he expressed himself, but he couldn't help but feel a little worried.

Thanks for being patient with this reply heh...also please bear with me, the next couple of weeks are quite crowded for me, so expect a bit of a long wait for a response. Things will be back to normal in no time though, I assure you
Bad topic. Not good. Awkward silence. Tory had no idea why, but the air between Aldor and her had gotten uncomfortable and stiff at the mention of siblings. She was no physic, but she could read emotions, and it was very obvious that siblings were not an amazing conversation starter with Aldor, at least for the time being. She personally had none, and wouldn’t exactly love a brother, but maybe a sister wouldn’t be so bad.
Sometimes she envied the big sisters showing their younger siblings around the castle, or shopping with them in Diagon alley. It made her think; How much different would coming to Hogwarts have been if I had had a sibling to help me along the way?. Back into the present,Tory would most definitely get herself into some family drama if she could. But only if that person was willing to let her in, she was not one to go prying around for secrets. Secrets were one of the things she could ultimately respect. She knew what it felt like to have something so secretive that you had to cover it up anyway you could, so she would respect others who had something like that, to.
The 12 year old just responded with “Oh! That’s cool, I’ve got none. I mean, it’s kinda hard to get any siblings when your father died when you were two.” The way she threw the words around like a beach ball made her seem inconsiderate, emotionless. Almost as if she didn’t care her dad was dead. She did care, it was just that she wasn’t embarrassed about it like many people. She wasn’t afraid of death. Things happened. Death happened. Horrible things happened. And Tory would not sit and cry about those things all her life.
Sure, she sometimes wished her father had been there, but then again, she had barely known him. And who knew, maybe her mother would find somebody new. Or not. The future would come when it did, and until then, Tory would be enjoying the moment. Speaking of the future, a big event was coming soon to Hogwarts. The fall ball.
“Do you think your going to go to the fall ball in October?” She asked, following up with, “I’m probably not - balls aren’t really my thing, but maybe I’ll try the blossom one out in May. Even if I do go to the fall one, I’d absolutely never ask anybody, so maybe the snack table’d keep me company..or something..” She rubbed the back of her neck and smiled kindly.

Aldor would finally move away from the awkward feeling, as Tory asked about the ball, the boy bit his lower lip, trying to think of an answer, balls weren't his thing either, in fact, the last time he went to any sort of event in Hogwarts was in Halloween, and the only reason to why he managed to go was because Rose Moon, a second year gryffindor, who was like his older sister at this point, invited him to go with her.
''Any sort of big event isn't my thing either, I wasn't planning on going on May but, fall wouldn't be a bad choice either-''
Aldor would make a long pause, as he thought of his next phrase, he wasn't sure whether Tory would accept or not, but it was worth giving a shot.
''Well, you wouldn't mind having me at the snack table with you, right? I mean, I would usually go with uh, Rose Moon, probably heard of her at some point, but she might want to go with her boyfriend so, we can be the two losers who are at the snacks hah-''
Aldor giggled quietly, it was true, he didn't really have plans on going, and did not have a partner to go with, usually he would avoid everyone and not even go, but being at the snack table with a friend was the perfect excuse to be there. Hopefully, his aunt wouldn't ask too many questions afterwards.
Suddenly, he just realised that he sounded like he was asking her out, so he covered his mouth, trying to hide his blushing face, but it was still very obvious.

One would assume that when Aldor asked to go along with Tory to the ball that it was with romantic intentions, but Tory knew better than one. She knew Aldor felt nothing like that towards her, and she knew she most definetly felt nothing like that towards Aldor. She was certain that it was with friendship the badger made this request.
Aldor's face was a Gryffindor robe red by the time Tory looked back over to him. He was trying and failing hard to cover it with his hand, which made Tory chuckle to herself. "Of course you can come along, I'd be happy to have somebody other than a bowl of punch to talk to." She giggled as she imagined herself trying to speak to the inanimate object.
"I'm looking forward to it" She said, adding, "The snacks better be good or the entire thing would be useless." Before laughing quietly again. In the end, Tory was quite glad that Aldor asked to accompany her to the snack table, because sometimes, it was much more fun to be a loser with your good friend than a loser all alone.
"Honestly, I don't know how the balls are some students heart and joy, ya know? I heard some older girls whispering and giggling about the Fall Ball in the courtyard the other day, and they were all like," Tory got her voice all high and feminine sounding for her impression of the girls, "Omigod John is so hot I'm asking John! Omg no Sara I already fancy John and want to ask him! Omg guys do you think I should wear a long dress or short dress????" The lion laughed at her own joke.
"Quite ridiculous, if you ask me, which nobody ever does."

Aldor would giggle quietly at Tory's impression, it was strange, most people sounded like that most of the time, or at least it seemed this way to Aldor. And so, the boy did his own impression doing an over exagerated Irish accent.
''Ridiculous, there's no other word to describe that, but how I wonder if the sweet, sweet Elzabeth G. will want to go with me to ball, I should fix my hair and sing with my oh so angelic voice, maybe even bake her some goods, golly, I'm sure she will want to date me if invite her to dance, even though my dancing skillsw are absolute rubbish!''
Aldor would look back at Tory, shrugging, almost as if he was trying to say that he couldn't come up with anything else. He was clearly joking, even though Elzabeth G. was a second year Ravenclaw he met recently, and he was actually pretty captivated by her, but he didn't really understand the situation, at first, he simply thought that maybe they would be pretty good friends, but the more they talked, he started having an odd feeling he couldn't really explain, oh the poor innocent Aldor, if only he knew.
''Y-You know what I mean right? It seems as if they really can't just walk up to a girl and say ''Hey, I like you, I think you are great and your taste in pastries is great'' just- what is all the fuzz about liking someone? It is just confusing and awkward-''

Tory laughed at Aldor’s impression (probably too loudly, she very well excepted the librarian to hush her), yet the curiosity deep inside of her was itching to figure out who the “The sweet, sweet, Elizabeth G.” Was. If she just happened to be the girl Aldor fancied, Tory would never let him hear the end of it, as she was most definitely the kind of friend to tease people for liking somebody. Or maybe it was a made up name. Either way, the Gryffindor would be leaving the topic untouched for the time being, as she was pretty lousy at getting herself out of awkward situations.

It seems as if they really can't just walk up to a girl and say ''Hey, I like you, I think you are great and your taste in pastries is great'' just- what is all the fuzz about liking someone? When I was definitely not eavesdropping on those girls in the courtyard, I heard them keep talking all about this one guy or whatever blah blah blah. Point is,people kinda obsess over one person and try to impress them, but I wonder, why try to impress one person, when you can impress all the people?”
She sighed and yawned. “Guess we’ll never know.” She added, implying that she would never ever like somebody, which was probably incorrect, but we can go along with it for now. Tory stretched and leaned backwards on the wooden legs of the chair, rocking back on them.

Aldor would remain quiet for a few seconds as he though about what Tory just said, sadly, it was true that people usually turned their liking to someone into an obsession, which was a little creepy at first, but maybe it was more reasonable when you looked at it from another angle, either way, the boy decided to concentrate in the conversation at hand.
''I mean- there is people who dedicate to impress others, and there is people that well, do what they love and somehow people like that too.''
He couldn't help but think about his aunt as he said this, she worked with that mindset all of the time, she wrote books and sold them, she made baked goods and gave them away to anyone that she thought that might need it or want it. Even when her books started becoming more and more popular, she never raised her prices and always kept them accesible.
''I don't think you need to impress everyone to be happy either- I think eventually you just find a place where you belong, even if it takes a long time to do so, and I think that is how it works when people start liking each other, thy just found a place where they belong. O-or so I read, not like I know much about that either-
He scratched the back of his head, trying to do his best to explain himself, it was clearly n0t easy to do so.
''I don't get why people do fight for one person is just- nonsense, but on the other hand I suppose that there is more to liking someone than just, walking holding hands and saying 'I love you a lot', which is quite awkward-''

The silence lasted a minute or so, but then Tory spoke, "But Aldor," She said in a some what hushed sounding voice, "What if- what if I don't want to belong anywhere?" She would have said more, but her mouth closed itself before she could say another word, and Aldor the badger said something else that Tory just nodded at.
"Yeah. It's very odd. I mean, there's 7 billion people on this planet, just go find someone else! She agreed, sighing exasperatedly in annoyance. "Of course theres more to it, Aldor. I'm pretty sure you actually have to like them, and be utterly in love with them, and think everything about them is absolutely amazing." Tory stopped herself before she said more. How she knew all this, she had no idea. She hadn't read a romance novel a day in her life, and never, ever, had a 'crush' on somebody.

Aldor Humbleglow wasn't that surprised by her answer, after all, it wasn't hard to imagine why someone of her age wouldn't really get the whole romance things, he had no clue either, and mostly, he assumed things or theorized, that was his way to cope with the unknown.
''You know, I think it's fine not to belong anywhere, or- at least on how close it falls to my logical understanding, not belonging anywhere makes you special. That is a good thing, right?-''
Aldor gave his friend a gentle smile, and looked into her eyes, his answer didn't seem that off at all, the boy was still finding a place to fit in, but at the same time, he was pretty glad to be himself, and not having to pretend to be a stereotype, or faking an identity, yes, this was how Aldor's mind operated on a daily basis.
But then, he heard Tory going back to the whole romance thing, and he was entirely sure, but this felt much more awkward than before, after all, he just mentioned a while back the one person that he sort of felt interested in, and it was quite simple, he did not understand these feelings at all.
''Anyway I- don't know why I talk about this with such confidence, I don't have a single clue of how it really works so, that is that I suppose-''
He didn't seem bothered by the topic, but at the same time, he was unsure about what to say next, so he just left this to Tory, so she could decide what they would talk about.
