Pampering a Pampered Pet
"Is your mom a potioneer then?" he asked and wondered how that would work exactly. Did she have a specific room for it or did she just start and hide everything whenever there were any visitors who came over. The vivid image of a muggle being face to face with a flobberworm creeping in its own mucus, had him snicker out loud. He would feel sorry for that poor muggle cause even he as a wizard thought that they were hard to get used to at first, he couldn't imagine with a muggle discovering them for the first time. They would probably be frightened to death and disgusted in all eternity.
Alan hummed as Dee went on to explain. "Do you know any tricks? And do you mean like the intern-net? It's about technologies right? Willow has mentioned it before, I think... It's like a infinite place of knowledge and things compressed in one thing and accessible from all around the world, right?" he had tried to do some research on the matter by asking his cousins, but he had failed to get a full grasp on it yet. Though he felt like he was able to understand some of its magic... or lack of it. Alan was not entirely sure on how to make use of the information in his head.
As Tiger soaked in the water, Alan would get a gentle brush and start massaging the shampooed water into the feline's fur while Dee was scratching Tiger's head. The cat was enjoying all the attention he was getting and would press its little head into Dee's palm, making sure she wouldn't stop giving him attention anytime soon.

Dee nodded in response, her smile softening. It was were Dee's own love for potions came from, her uncanny instinct for brewing. Her spell-casting abilities she had worked hard for, potions just came naturally. "She is! And a really good one. The conditioner I use, she developed that herself. The entire basement and parts of the ground floor of our house have Muggle-repelling charms on them because she leaves her things everywhere, and even then, I've had friends ask me why our house smells so odd." The Ravenclaw grinned at the memories. "People always think she has to be super neat because if you don't know her well, my mum seems really serious, but that's only because they've never seen her brew any potions. The brewing room is a mess and I still don't understand how she finds anything in the ingredients storage, although she swears she has a system." Dee tilted her head to one side thoughtfully. "I think most of our money comes from my mum's potions. It's hard to work as a healer in a town filled only with Muggles." Humming slightly, Dee turned her eyes towards Alan, suddenly curious. "What do your parents do?"
Alan's fascination was clearly more held by this whole "Muggle magic" thing, although granted, with the additional information that he meant technology, it all made a little more sense. Of course it wasn't magic, it was science, but she supposed that this was the easiest way to explain it to someone as thoroughly wizard-raised as Alan seemed to be. "Tricks?" She blinked. "Uh, not really." One of her friends had known a silly coin vanishing trick, but it had only taken Dee watching it twice to realise how it works, and it hadn't seem worth the effort to try and learn it herself. Not when soon she'd be able to learn real magic.
But Alan moved on to technology and the internet in the same breath, and Dee realised she wasn't quite sure whether Alan was aware that this was not considered magic in the Muggle world. "... yes, sort of, I guess," she replied. "Except it's not really in one thing or place, it's... in millions of places all over the world but they are all connected." Kind of. Not that Dee really knew how it worked. Did Alan know what electricity was and how Muggles used it? The way they had figured out how to send information via wires and then even without? Dee didn't think she could do an adequate job explaining any of that. "Basically it's a huge intangible net all over the world, and Muggles all have their own little access points to it, and it's also connected to all those places that actually store the information, like lots of little libraries, but you can just ask for what you want to know instead of having to look for the book yourself." Was that more helpful or confusing? Perhaps she should just give up.
Tiger seemed quite happy with all the attention he was getting, and Dee was happy to keep giving it to him, smiling softly at the purring cat. Alan seemed to know what he was doing and didn't actually require any help, which left Dee free to let her eyes wander around the room. It was getting later, and she should probably get going soon - it was going to be a busy day, between meeting up with Ileen and organising the welcome party for their new Head of House. She would stay at least until Alan had gotten Tiger safely out of the water, though.

Alan would grin, Dee's excitement as she spoke about her mother was truly contagious and Alan could not help but to feel at ease as the Ravenclaw would let him know more and more about her family. He even gave a lighthearted giggle as she came to the part of her mother insisting of having a system in her chaos. He had heard stories that his father used to be completely chaotic when he was younger, his mother wouldn't stop teasing him about that when they were younger. But he probably grew out of it, he was not a overly neat person like his mother but he was not messy either. Alan was sure his mother must have something to do with that, probably her influence. He shook his head, pulling his head out of his mind, to focus on Dee again. "My parents are Aurors, actually my mother stopped after I was born and took on another job in the ministry, but I don't know much about what she does, she has to be very secretive about it! But my father is working towards becoming the head of magical law enforcement which is quite funny because he is one of the most adventurous people that I know," he explained, sounding quite proud. "As a kid he would tell me all those stories about his work, he once had to dodge one of the Unforgivables," Alan shuddered at the mere thought of such spells being used. They sounded utterly scary.
Moving on Alan would try his best to understand what Dee was going too explain to him, but it just sounded like too much at once and he was not all too sure how he had to think of it properly. But Alan did his best to make it easy for himself and just catalyzed the internet as a tiny accessible library that could give information when asking for it. He was already too confused and not wanting to get a headache from all that information he decided it was enough questions he had asked for now.
After he had washed out all of the soap the fourth year would grab a big and soft towel in a light blue hue and stretch it over his hands like a blanket. He then would scoop out the feline from the water and wrap the towel around it, before holding the cat to his chest with a smile. With his fur being wet, the cat looked like a skinny something, cats just looked really odd when they were in water, Alan decided. "Thanks for your help, Dee," the fourth year smiled warmly at her.

Alan's explanation had Dee blinking in surprise, rather impressed with the background he was painting. Although both her parents and her home were magical, her childhood had been very mundane in comparison, mostly isolated from magical society. Certainly nothing as exciting (or scary) as having Aurors for parents. Of course, her adventurous mind focused more on the thrilling part of it, rather than think of how scary it must be to have your parents in danger all the time. Alan, too, seemed to be more proud of his parents than anything.
He didn't ask any more questions about Muggle magic or technology following her explanations, so Dee assumed he had either understood what she'd been trying to express, or he was now just completely confused. Either way, since she wasn't sure how better to explain it, it seemed a good time to let the topic drop.
Their task, too, was nearing an end. Despite Dee's initial doubt, Alan's claim that Tiger didn't mind the water had proven true. It was kind of impressive just how calmly he'd let the Gryffindor wash him, just enjoying the attention he was getting from both Alan and Dee, and when Alan scooped him up in the towel, Dee smiled fondly at the cat. "Anytime!" she replied, and meant it. "I didn't do much, but I'm happy to help." Reaching out to scratch Tiger's ear one last time, she directed her smile at the boy, eyes bright. "I should probably get going, busy day." It would turn out to be even busier than planned, but of course she didn't know that yet. "It was nice getting to know Tiger. And I'm sure we'll see each other around!"
With a last smile and wave, Dee turned to leave - there were party preparations to take care of, a dancing lesson to attend, and then some unexpected adventures on top.
Thread left.
