The pause before the door had been almost uncomfortable for the Seer. Perhaps, he thought, he had been made a fool of, set up by a student who would teasingly knock on his door to make him unlock it and then run away before he could go and see who it was that had called for his attention. Yet, the moment finally passed, and the door opened. The student would be met with Leonardo’s own blank stare and collected composure. Not so much movement as the slightest curl of his hair was visible. He looked not unlike a pale marble statue.

The boy, on the other hand, or what Leonardo thought to be a boy for lack of being able to discern the individual’s facial details and having only the posture, body shape and the body language to assist him in the effort of trying to identify who it was that he was speaking to, looked fidgety. Grey eyes flicked to the fingers which were tugging at sleeves, and the Professor raised an eyebrow. This was assuredly in part because of the aura of menace which seemed to fill the air, the feeling of dread which seemed to amplify wherever the Seer wandered. Macbeth, now fully awake, seemed to be the only moving thing, flying from the bust which he was formerly sleeping on in order to perch on one of the stools which stood in front of the Professor’s desk. Macbeth clicked his beak quietly, tipping its head sidewise to observe the student.

“Macbeth. It is not polite to stare.” Leonardo spoke to his owl once again, though the screech owl only replied to his master by letting out a small, happily shrill, screech.

Leonardo’s face almost visibly darkened for a brief moment— the change most obvious in his stormy eyes— when the boy mentioned missing classes. Oh, so he was one of those individuals who decided to play tardy. There had been a few of those recently, so there was a good amount of the student population eliminated just because of that knowledge. Combined with the fact that this lad appeared to be of a younger grade, the identities reduced themselves even further. Just as quickly as the look had come, though, it vanished, and Leonardo listened to the rest of the boy’s words.

“Well, I am here to offer answers to your questions, young man.” Leonardo fixed the boy with another stern look. He was beginning to concentrate a bit harder, trying to see past that blurry mist which seemed to conceal the faces of most any person he looked at off the bat. Through it, there were a pair of surprisingly bright blue eyes. “Insofar as what you mean by ‘a few classes’ I should like you to be more specific. How many days—or rather, nights— exactly, if it is about the schoolwork you have questions about?” He replied flatly, tipping his head and sinking slowly into his chair, reclining slightly. A moment to let him respond, and then another question, because for some reason the Seer felt like he had once heard this voice, and recently at that. “Forgive me, your voice is familiar, but I cannot quite place a name. Indulge me?”

Macbeth tried to flutter close to the boy, not yet attempting to make a perch, but drawing close to it.

He didn't jump. He was just startled by the sound of ruffling feathers from the owl. For a few days the teen has been in edge sort of and felt his anxiety almost overwhelming at least within his mind that was.

His eyes would flash over to the owl before looking upon the bookshelf for just a moment as a act to calm himself almost. Books always use to calm the second year down in the past so hopefully it should now. Once he did and his face shown no emotions, he would looked back toward the astronomy professor to find him almost the equivalent as a pale statue with a nerve rattling pressure.

Even through his face showed no emotions, his mind was overworking again and his fingers were fidgeting with the ends of his sleeves either from his anxiety or the odd feeling that he was currently getting from the professor.

When the second year finally heard a response a breath that he wasn't aware he was even holding was release. The astronomy professor didn't sound like the type to hold a grudge or was angry with him for missing classes however it was still hard to tell with the man another thing that was causing his anxiety to imagine the worst possible answers and situations for this interaction.

Henry thankfully was still looking him in the eyes through, determined to keep some form of good manners as he nodded a bit only to hear the professor's voice again.

However the next question from the professor made Henry's stomach dropped. It was something he dreaded but also expected, of course the professor wanted to know exactly how many days... technically nights that he have missed his classes but luckily Henry's questions weren't about the classwork which surprisingly the boy found parts rather easy and for the ones he didn't understand, it was simple for him to seek out his answers in the library.

Henry would burst a strand of hair from his face before taking a moment to breath as a way to calm himself before he would speak" I haven't missed too many of your classes professor and actually find your class quite fascinating," a short pause before he would continued" something happened on the 13th of this month and I sort of been out of it for a few days since so I only missed the 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and tonight but I still did all the classwork for those nights and had friends turn them in for me."

Henry would keep his eye contact with the man and his breathing steady as he was focusing on his words carefully and what exactly he should say next. Perhaps compliment his class or teaching method or maybe his owl? Or maybe he should volunteer to clean up after his owl or his classroom a few times after class just in case the professor was angry about him missing classes.

“Forgive me, your voice is familiar, but I cannot quite place a name. Indulge me?”

Another question that Henry was dreading but expecting. Once he would give his name then he would know who exactly he was.... was Henry thinking about lying on his identity to a professor? Yes, yes he was... will he? No but the good side of this was the astronomy professor was relevancy new and wouldn't have taught his older brother so wouldn't have him in his mind while Henry asked his questions.

"I'm Henry Knight sir, second year slytherin," Henry spoke with a emotionless face and keeping eye contact with the professor whole fidgeting with the ends if his sleeves.

The teen was regretting saying his house and year but the professor probably would have knew that from his name. Not to mention his voice being familiar which made Henry nearly forget that during classes he was almost always asking or answers questions or on occasions whispering to his friends in hufflepuff and gryffindor.

The boy would wait for a moment to pass before he would find the courage enough to speak, " would you mind if I ask my questions sir? I can always come back later if you perfer?"

Four nights. This boy had missed four nights of classes. That was quite substantial, and a lot of topic covering to have missed. Even if he claimed that he had friends turning in assignments for him, that did not cover up the fact that the boy had not been in person to learn what Leonardo was teaching, regardless of how his grade reflected his effort. Once again, Leonardo found himself questioning why he had agreed to this job, why he tried so hard to stress himself over trying to help every student, especially when ungrateful ones pulled this sort of nonsense.

Yet, Mister Knight, as Leonardo remembered and connected a voice to as soon as he had confessed his name, house, and year, did not seem the type to have purposely done this sort of thing. Even now, standing before the Professor, Leonardo noticed and watched every anxiety-ridden movement, the averting of those bright blue eyes, and hands nervously working at the sleeves. Yes, Leonardo now remembered this boy a bit. He had been present at the errand, the boy who had had a thousand questions and little time to ask them. A little spontaneous then and during class (a talker, Leonardo remembered from classes), but now he was far more reserved. Shy, even. An event, he claimed, had happened on the thirteenth, something which inspired him to miss classes and to now come back to Leonardo asking for something else.

“As I said earlier, it is my job here to answer questions, Mister Knight.” He said calmly, still locking his gaze on the blue eyes which were lost in the misty background of a face which Leonardo assumed to be there. His mind struggled to piece together the appearance of the boy beyond the presence of those eyes, so they were the one thing he could connect to in order to form a link of communication.

“You may ask your questions. I do desire you to be present in my classes again, after all. It is in your best interest in order to avoid detention after all, hm?” Leonardo’s eyebrows raised, as he crossed his legs and folded his hands in front of him. Now that he properly knew what he was dealing with, he was much more self-assured, confident he would be able to deal with this problem directly.

As time goes on your expect to find yourself to relax even just a tiny bit. Unfortunately for Henry, as time went one he found himself panicking within the walls of his mind more and more as he faced the astronomy professor with his rather peculiar presence and small owl that seem to be growing closer or was it possibly just the boy's imagination? The owl did seem threatening at a sense but that can also be because the boy was still feeling rather odd around the professor.

When his voice met Henry's ears, he would only nod and think about how exactly he should phase his question to the professor. Taking slow but deep breaths and keeping the eye contact with the professor, the second year was determined to stop fidgeting with his sleeves and also not let his anxiety control him.

Perhaps I should ask a question about class or the work? But wouldn't that do the opposite and probably anger the professor more that I missed class and now I'm asking questions about the nights that I missed?

Alright then I just come out and ask my questions... but there's since there's chance that he doesn't answer them and sends me away like a reasonable professor would do... perhaps I should just leave then but no I'm already here so I should just ask...

But what if he thinks to much of my questions and reports me to my head of house! Or the headmaster! Or... or... stop it he wouldn't do that or would he... uh... maybe I should leave? Its safer that way and it lowers my chances of a panic attack but I need to have answers.... uh...

“You may ask your questions. I do desire you to be present in my classes again, after all. It is in your best interest in order to avoid detention after all, hm?”

The words filtered through the young teen's mind as he kept his eye contacted with the professor. In a way, Henry agreed with him and it was probably from the words felt himself grow just a tiny millimeter calmer as he finally strolled fidgeting with the ends of his sleeves before taking a breath and finding the right words as he spoke" yes professor. I'll be present in your class again starting tomorrow night, I still apology for missing your classes," a short pause before he would continued" as for my questions sir, they shouldn't take much of your time."

Henry was still feeling uneasy about asking his questions maybe because he the book that he had originally developed his questions in was a book detailing certain spells that wasn't exactly taught at Hogwarts or maybe he was still feeling weary about the strange presence almost emitting from the astronomy professor.

Henry would take a breath before he would speak" I was curious professor on what you can tell me about legilimency?" a pause before the teen would continue" hypothetically how would one learn how to cast the spell? And hypothetically of course, how much could someone see into another's mind with the spell?" Henry knew how odd his questions were phased but to him the answers were crucial wiry finding out where his missing twin sister was.

The thirteen year old would then wait a couple minutes before taking another breath and thinking about how exactly he wanted to phase his next question as to not draw any suspicions from the astronomy professor or put him in alert.

Once he knew how exactly he wanted to phase his next question the young teen would speak" my next question is a bit strange professor. You see I came across it while I was in the library one day and couldn't find much on the topic, I was wondering professor what could you tell me about Imperio?"

The young teen now had eye contact with the astronomy professor, no emotion was present on his face, and he was no longing fidgeting with his sleeves but now had a sense of respect toward the professor awaiting to listen to his next words.

Mister Knight’s apology was acknowledged to by a slight dipping of the Seer’s chin, a silent indication that he had heard and accepted the words of the younger snake. The nervousness the boy had earlier seemed to fade away for a brief while, just long enough for him to start asking questions. Questions which caused Leonardo to pause and then begin to reassess the situation that was unfolding before him.

The boy had asked about the practice of Legilimency, the art of reading another’s mind; by force or by passing curiosity. The Seer’s gaze briefly flicked to his sheathed wand at his right hip, then back at the blue eyes. When he had been eleven years old, Ollivander had told him that this wand, this 12 3/4 inch, chestnut wood and snallygaster heartstring wand was gifted to those who practiced Legilimency and divination. Ironic that it would end up in the hands of a Seer, especially a boy of the Chiadovini lineage.

Shifting slightly, Leonardo crossed his arms, leaning forward a bit. Why was he the one who this student wished to speak to about these sorts of matters? Surely Miss Pendrast the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher would have been a better suited choice for this line of questioning. “Why would you have any interest in this art, Mister Knight? While it is an intriguing skill, I do not see why someone as young as you would need to learn it so young, nor do I think you would have the ability to.” His tone had shifted slightly, taking on a more silky sound, an audible allusion that the Slytherin alumni was starting to dig for the root of the boy’s interests. ‘Rhetorically’ had been the word used, but as a Slytherin, Leonardo knew that ‘rhetorically’ when speaking to another of his house implied that they had significant use for the skill or desired to use it. Such was the nature of the cunning folk.

“When used correctly, Legilimency can be a powerful asset, Mister Knight. You learn a person’s motives, their drives. In the line of interrogation, you learn secrets, things that they would typically be hard-pressed to share of their own volition, sometimes more effectively than Veritaserum since you look into the person’s very memories and direct thoughts.” Yet, as was the case with any skill, from divination to the dark arts, there was always a catch. “When used maliciously, the consequences of Legilimency can be more painful than that of Crucio. This skill, when used incorrectly or in cruelty, can inflict madness by implanted visions, and even if it is used correctly, can cause pain to the person who wished their mind to remain a sanctum against such infiltrations.” Leonardo spoke quietly again, his voice cold, inflectionless. “I am not at the liberty to divulge to you the spell, how to use it, or even encourage you to do either. ” The words were short and to the point. Leonardo would not share this knowledge with Mister Knight either.

But Leonardo discovered that Mister Knight’s thoughts ran deeper, in the form of a question about one of the Unforgivable Curses. At this, Leonardo’s eyes darkened once more. “Why do you come to me asking about this knowledge, Mister Knight? Tell me what you know of the Imperius Curse.” The question was turned back on the interrogator. Leonardo knew much about these dark Magics. His father had once tried to force his hand into dabbling in the arts. It was something Leonardo had bitter memories of, a magic so cruel that even he himself had to draw the line between searching for further knowledge to extend his agenda and simply learning an unforgivable magic for the sake of it, reaping God knows what with the knowledge. His grey eyes continued to watch darkly. Macbeth, now understanding has the boy had no interest in trying to play with him, flew back to Leonardo and perched on the tense Seer’s shoulder, preening under one wing.

Upon hearing the answers which Knight gave to him, Leonardo responded coldly. “Regardless, I will not divulge to you the ins and outs of either art. It concerns me that you wish to learn these skills, especially as a second year.” There was a line between cunning, seeking knowledge, and foolishness. “There is a thin line betwixt cunning and foolishness.” He shared. “You are beginning to teeter betwixt them. A very dangerous place to be positioned in.”

Henry thought that the astronomy professor's first question would be why didn't he go to professor Pendrast with his questions since he seem more related to defense against the dark arts and the answer was actually simple for the twelve year old to answer.

The defense against the dark arts professor was someone who had been there a while and while he was respectful to her in classes wasn't someone that he knew all that well or granted wanted to. However the astronomy professor was different, he wasn't like the other teachers and some might even say that had the presence of a mentor.

Still Henry expected there were going to questions with why he was asking about these types of questions and hadn't decided if he was going to tell the truth that he needed the answers to find out if his missing twin sister was alright or if he was going to lie.

"Legilimency has always interested me even before Hogwarts but I can ensure you professor that I don't intend to learn the art or try to practice it myself," Henry replied with hopes that the professor would believe him since he really didn't intend to learn or use it on anyone. He wasn't like most in his house but then again hardly anyone ever believed him.

However the professor answered his question giving both what it could be used for but also what could happened when use against someone. None of which helped Henry on his investigation to find his sister so instead the teen remained calmly and spoke" I understand professor that you can't tell me how to cast Legilimency but would the spell work as sort of a communication between two people? For example, hypothetically could someone cast the spell on someone far away and almost communicate with them in their mind?"

Henry learned of two ways to communicate with his twin. One was a binding mark and the other was Legilimency, surely one of the two had to worked to allow Henry even just five minutes to talk to his twin sister somewhere that no one body knows where. Five minutes or even less was all he needed to see if she was alright.

“Why do you come to me asking about this knowledge, Mister Knight? Tell me what you know of the Imperius Curse.”

The voice from the professor made Henry jump back a bit and anxiety filled his mind with why he shouldn't have been there asking these questions.

The thirteen year old thought leaving and apologizing to the professor as he struggled to maintain eye contact with the man while he would stutter out, " n..not much sir. I'm n..not looking to use it and I r..rather not be asking questions about it but... but-" Henry lost his words and wasn't sure if he should continue for the teen feared what the answer might be.

The professor words filled the air again. A expected lecture about his concern that Henry wanted to learn these skills and the line between foolishness and cunning.

Henry understood what was being said and he didn't want to use the spell or even learn it but he has to know if perhaps his twin was being controlled by it never less Henry could see when he did enough and spoke" I apology f..for asking about then sir and I c..can swear to you that I won't go digging into them again. I apology for t..taking up your time t..tonight."

Not even a moment later and the teen woildnleave the office and descend down the stairs of the astronomy tower. A part of him knew that he shouldn't have been asking these questions but another part of him wanted to find and ensure that his twin sister was safe.

The claim that Legilimency had been something Mister Knight had been interested in, yet had no desire to practice for the moment had Leonardo rather skeptical, yet that was a topic he was not going to elaborate or ask more questions about. Already, this snake was being noted on the short list of people which attracted the Seer’s attention. “It is said that Tom Riddle used Legilimency to influence Harry Potter through deceptive visions, contacting his mind from an admirable distance.” Was how he finally responded. “But theirs was a special circumstance.” Leonardo shook his head. “Only a Binding Mark has the ability to replicate the effects you named. If you are face to face with the person, you would be able to read their thoughts, perhaps inspire false visions, but there would be no possibility of two-way communication.”

The boy’s nervousness had returned when Leonardo had turned the question of Imperius and its uses back on him, yet Leonardo felt no pity for the boy. These were his questions, not Leonardo’s. Why come to the Seer if these were questions that Miter Knight would not have found of value? “All you need know of this curse is that you need not know of it.”

It seemed that the child’s nervousness had the best of him, for no sooner had Leonardo finished sharing his thoughts with the boy, the boy stammered out a half-baked apology, apologizing for the time he had taken from Leonardo. Before the Seer could say anything else, or perhaps he had nothing left to say, Mister Knight had left the vicinity.

But this would not be the end of the conversation. Too much had been said for the Seer to simply brush it aside as fluke. No... Knight would be expecting an owl from a certain reddish screech owl within a few days.
