Taking a deep breath and searching for a place to sit down on his own, Aldor Humbleglow walked along the courtyard, trying his best not to focus on anyone that could be around. Bruhsing the hair away from his eyes, the Hufflepuff boy didn't spend that much time in the courtyard in regular basis, he was always creeping around the library or the lake, but choosing a new place to spend his free time couldn't be that hard.

He finally sat down, opening a book about baking, staring at the fountain that was placed in the center of the place, it wasn't that bad here, people usually spent their time here, and Aldor had just found out why. He could feel the wind blowing through his hair, and it was quiet, even though there were a few students talking and doing whatever they wished to do.

Aldor had enjoyed his time in Hogwarts, at least as far as he has been here. Halloween was probably the most fun he had in a long time, using a dragon costume and spending time with his best friend was very special, and Christmas well. . . he stayed in the dorms and the lake the whole day, hiding away from everyone, Christmas wasn't something he enjoyed that much, as this was usually the time families united and spent time giving gifts to each other and doing whatever traditions they had.

Then Valentine's day, in which he just stayed away once again, reading boks about making chocolate, it was funny, while other people were out, handing chocolate to their beloved friends and love interests, Aldor was reading about the topic, instead of doing it himself. He wasn't interested in this topic just yet, but he was curious as to why people would go into some sort of trance when they felt something for someone else, still, he had lots of things to do in his life, many more than just being worried about that sort of thing.

But that would most likely change, very soon.

Elzabeth wandered the grounds with a book tucked under her arm, her mind full of thoughts about school. It felt as if the teachers had decided to amp up the difficulty after Christmas break. There was always so much homework to do in such little time, which never helped her insomnia.

Luckily she had slept the night before, so today she was feeling rather invigorated. Her adventure stopped in the courtyard, the light babble of the fountain proving a peaceful place. Elzabeth let out a happy sigh, her eyes wandering over the area.

It seemed the courtyard was a little empty today, only her and another boy sitting in the area as people passed by without a second glance. She kept quiet, not wanting to disturb him and his book.

The breeze swept over her hair, pushing it into her face momentarily. Elzabeth let out a frustrated sigh, pushing it all to one side of her face in a half-hearted attempt to keep it out of her eyes. She had threatened to cut it all off multiple times but she knew her mother would throw a fit. It seemed her mom was living all her long-haired dreams vicariously through Elzabeth.

She sat on a bench across from the boy, noticing his Hufflepuff robes. Her mind drifted to the classes she had with Hufflepuffs, wondering if she could pick his face out of her memory.

Elzabeth opened her own book to where her bookmark had carefully been placed. She should have been reading something about transfiguration, or potions, that would have been the logical thing to do. Instead, she picked up a fantasy book from her personal collection. It was a gift given to her during Christmas and she was just now getting around to it.

The boy would stop reading for a second, taking a few seconds to look around, sadly, he had the horrible talent of knowing when somebody is looking at him, either that or he was just too paranoid and had to look around every time, just to feel comfortable.

He closed his book, as he noticed a girl that was sitting nearby, at first he tried not to pay attention to her and kept looking around, but soon his eyes drifted back to her, he smiled softly, he didn't know why, but he felt as if he wanted to talk to her, but she seemed to be reading, just like him.

He would sit quietly, staring at the fountain, thinking about what to do, should he stay quiet and not saying anything to her? Should he try and talk to her? Should he just walk away? He bit his lower lip while all of this thoughts flooded his mind, sometimes he wished he could read other people's minds, it would be so much easier to act when you know what's going on inside of their head.

He remained in the same place for a bit more, trying to take a decision, at this point, it was very likely that she realised he was struggling to simply walk up to her and say ''hi''. He started talking to himself very quietly, taking a few shaky breaths.

''What am I supposed to do? What do I say? Come on Aldor, stop thinking so much, you fool-''

Elzabeth looked up from her book, her eyes falling to the boy across from her. She could hear him muttering something but it wasn't quite clear to her what. She paused, placing her bookmark and closing the book slightly to turn her full attention onto him.

"Are you okay?" She whispered, smiling. She didn't want to intrude, he may just be talking to himself about whatever he was reading, sometimes she did that too. It was rather embarrassing when she was called out on it but sometimes she couldn't help it. Her father always told her that if a book was good enough to talk to yourself about, then it was good enough to read again. Her shelf back home was full of those types of books, soon she would need some more shelving space if she kept reading.

"Sorry if I'm bothering you." She crossed her legs, trying to stay warm. Her skirt wasn't fully covering her legs and the breeze was starting to get chilly.

He was rather cute, in an almost innocent way. She didn't know many gingers but she had always been jealous of them, mostly their hair. Suddenly Elzabeth started to wonder what she would look like with red hair, before gently shaking her head to focus at the task at hand.

The boy's eyes widened as he heard the girl asking him if he was alright, his face went red as he turned to her and smiled softly, he simply nodded as he did his best to regain his composture, brushing his hair away from his face once more.

''I am- alright, you are not bothering me at all, I am very sorry if my muttering was though, I noticed you were reading and wanted to ask what it was, if it is ok for me to ask-''

His voice was very quiet and shaky, almost like a whisper, it was unclear if he always talked like this or maybe he had a cold or something like that,

Even though he was avoding people, he seemed kind and gentle, very nervous as well, maybe because he was simply shy. He did his best to keep the eye contact, but you could see in his eyes green eyes that he was struggling a lot just to be able to talk while looking into her eyes, but he did his best to do it anyway, he knew it would be rude to talk to someone and not even do an effort to look at them while doing so.

He began unconciously playing with his hair, quietly waiting for her answer.

Elzabeth smiled, picking up her book so she could show him the cover. It wasn't anything special beyond a dragon on the front, other than that it was just the bold letters displayed over the paperback cover.

"It's about faraway places and girl seeking adventure, one of my preferred types of stories." She shrugged, her hair falling back into her face. She tucked it behind her ear again, sitting the book back down.

Any time she had trouble falling asleep at night she used books like these to pretend she was a part of a faraway world, escape from the things that were bothering her, and mentally wearing her down.

She used to believe she would never have to do that at Hogwarts considering this was a magic school, but alas, her sense of adventure had been stuffed in the back of her head in an attempt to make her parents happy. No looking for secret dungeons or the things swimming at the bottom of the black lake like she had tried to do last year.

"What are you reading? You seemed to have been really into it." Elzabeth tilted her head to try and get a better look at the cover.

Aldor would turn his whole body to her this time, almost as if he was telling her that he was paying all his attention to her.

''It seems interesting, I always enjoyed adventure books, reading stories about people doing things I probably won't ever do. ''

He giggled quietly, listening as she explained what her book was about, when she finished, she asked him what he was reading. He would lean closer to her, showing her what he was reading, the book had a simple cover it was white, with a few colorful drawings of pastries. It was clearly a cooking book, the spine had a name in golden letters, Iphiane H. . . It was hard to read the rest since Aldor was blocking it with his hand.

''I didn't have much to read today so, I picked this from my personal collection, it is particullary interesting or fascinating, but I read everything this writer makes.''

Everything? It seemed as if he was a very dedicated fan, and indeed, he was. For a bit he stayed in silence, not really knowing what to say this time, so instead, he simply moved away a little, making a space for Elzabeth by his side. His face would go red for a bit, as he spoke.

''I-I forgot to introduce myself, I am Aldor Humbleglow and- would you like to sit with me?-

Elzabeth looked at the cover, her eyes widening in fascination. "Do you bake?" She asked, looking back at him with her eyebrows raised. "Oh! I've always wanted to learn how to bake." It seemed like it would be such a therapeutic activity, plus you got some sweet-tasting treats at the end.

The closest she had ever come to baking was box brownies, even then she had managed to burn them into tomorrow. She can still picture her dad trying to put on a brave face as he pretended to like them.

Elzabeth felt her cheeks warm as he offered her the spot next to him. It was such a sweet yet simple gesture that made her heart all warm and fuzzy. "I would love to!" She got up from her spot across from him and took a seat.

"Aldor." She tested the name out, smiling. She had never heard of that name before, but she rather liked it.

"I like your name. I'm Elzabeth." She offered her hand, tucking the book under her other arm. "It's like Elizabeth without the 'is'." Her name was always tricky when it came to other people learning it, eventually, she just had to get used to responding to Elizabeth as well.

As soon as she asked if he baked, he simply nodded, before he could even think about anything else she continued to talk about how she wished to learn to bake. Aldor couldn't help but smile after listening to her comment, for once, he felt like he could have a normal conversation with a stranger without feeling anxious or stressed.

Aldor had always loved baking, at first, he was terrible at it, but soon he learned how to do a lot of things, it was probably part of the fact that his aunt baked on a daily basis, and taught Aldor to do new things every time.

''Elzabeth? that is a really nice name.''

He would smile softly once again, he has been playing with his hair since the conversation started, and suddenly she offered her hand to Aldor, you could see how a very obvious blush started to show on his face. He was hesitant at first, he usually avoided physical contact at all costs, but he decided that the least he could do was taking her hand. So he did, as he smiled nervously.

''So, Elzabeth, what do you do apart of reading? Do you have any other hobbies?''

He was tripping over his own words, taking a bit to find the right phrases to formulate a sentence, it was pretty obvious that he was nervous, but at least he was doing his best at making a normal conversation.

Elzabeth shrugged. She could tell he was nervous, though she couldn't quite blame him. Talking to people was hard, especially new people. She wasn't always the best at it, most of the time she would end up blurting out a little too much information herself.

"I do lots of stuff . . ." She trailed off. Truth was, most of her hobbies were usually stuff she did back home, here at Hogwarts she either wasn't motivated enough or didn't have the supplies.

"My grandmother taught me how to paint, though I'm sure I'm nowhere near as good as she is." Her grandma was amazing at art, always painting landscapes that seemed to tell a thousand stories. "She's deaf, so I suppose that's why she focused a lot more on the things you can see."

Between the sign language lessons and the painting, speeding a seeking at her grandma's was its own escape from the world. "I don't paint very often though, most of the time I just read or write to my parents."

Her father was aware of most of the things that bothered her at Hogwarts, and more often than not he would help her see the good things when he owled her back. She missed the sound of his voice or those lame dad jokes he always seemed to have up his sleeve.
