Nice To Meet You
The lake was such a serene place. So calm. So... quiet. It wasn't quite silent, because you could hear the lake against the land and the animals in the trees. But it was a good place to stop and think. Stop and go over the day.
Or, in Rose's special case on this specific day, stop and soon be approached by somebody.
Rose was sitting by the lake, maybe six or seven feet away from its waters, watching the lake and taking measured breaths. She was thinking over her day, her week, her month, pretty much her whole situation. Just her in general. All her problems, predicaments, and imperfections in her life at that moment. And since she had visited her mother and smoothed things over, she had been a little on edge, sure. A little (read: a lot) cautious of most things. And especially a little less social. She had still been meeting with her friends every once in a while, but not super often. And she hadn't really met with people in general super often. She had felt a little out of control since she had lost it that one time. She still didn't know what had happened.
All this was running through her brain when somebody decided that Rose was going to gain a friend that day.
It was early March, and spring was on its way, so it was sunny with a crisp breeze that day.

Nice To Meet You
It was the perfect day to be outside, even if the sand goes for everyday. But Paige liked to think everyday was special in its own way because no day ever goes the same. And if everthing went well, for each day, the best of one day will be the worst of the next day. Each day better tha the last. Stuff like that.
It was a nice day, too. It had a nice breeze. It was silent out. So silent and peaceful, that Paige decided not to play basketball and not to dance. She decided to just... relax and enjoy the scenery. And maybe catch a lizard or two. It wasn't much that Paugr found peace and quiet such as this, and she knew when to stop to enjoy when she had the chance.
She walked along the grass, and felt at ease next the trickling sound of the lake. It was a nice sound, except of you ever had to... go. luckily, she didn't. Up ahead, sat a redhead a few feet from the lake. Red heads were not what Paige saw often but she found there hair beautiful. She walked up slowly. "Hey, mind if I join you?

Nice To Meet You
Rose had her legs up by her chest as she was looking out over the lake. Then a girl approached her, and she heard a voice asking if she could sit with Rose. Since she hadn't been paying attention at all to her surroundings, Rose jumped when she was addressed. Just a little startled, the redhead turned her head to look up at the girl who had talked to her. She had curly hair and darker skin. Vaguely around Rose's age, a first or second year at most. Well, she couldn't really be under a first year, could she? Then she wouldn't be at Hogwarts in the first place. All of this observing of this new acquaintance was automatic and instinctive to Rose.
Only a couple seconds after the girl's question, Rose nodded, scooting over on the ground and saying, "Sure. Be my guest." She would let the girl sit down next to her and get settled before saying, "I'm Rose. What's your name?" Her voice was gentle and friendly, and a little softer than most people's were. And her voice also carried an American accent. An obvious enough American accent, but it was easy to understand what she was saying.
She usually asked this next question when she met people for the first time, so she went with it- "What brings you here today?"

Nice To Meet You
@Rose Moon I am unforgivable.Paige smiled at the girl as she sat down. "Thanks." She crossed her legs and let the wind just touch her face. She looked at the girl when she spoke, a nice, soft, American accent. It was a very nice accent. "Hi Rose, I'm Paige." She smiled. her voice was heavily dripping with an English accent. "What brings me here? Well.. I'm an outdoors person. And sometimes I like to enjoy the peace, too. " She looked around. "It's nice out. Anyway, what brings you here?" She turned to the girl. The girl seemed a bit older than Paige, so she assumed she was in her second year. She had nice red hair, whereas Paige had very curly dark hair. Paige didn't know many redheads. In fact, she didn't know any at all! But Rose seemed nice. She seemed calm. Usually, Paige was running around, but today was one of those days where she just... chilled. Where she just relaxed. And it was nice to not do it alone, even if it was someone Paige just met. Who knows? Maybe over time they can become friends! That would be cool. Paige once again looked at the girl before watching the sunlight twinkle on the lake.

Nice To Meet You
Paige. That was a pretty name. A pretty name for a pretty girl. "Do you know why you were named that? Paige, I mean." Rose continued to try to make conversation with the younger girl. "I was named Rose for my red hair," she shared. It, of course, went deeper than that. After two blonde haired kids, her redheaded dad had really wanted a fellow redhead. When she was born, you couldn't really tell that well, but Rose's father had said that he had a feeling she had red hair, and wanted to name her Rose Amber. He was right, for some miraculous reason. That's why she was named Rose, really. But it could be summed up in the explanation that she gave to Paige. She wasn't going to start rambling on about her life and her name's origin. That was just rude, and she didn't want to bore her new acquaintance or make a bad impression on her.
The girl reciprocated her question after giving a response, and Rose nodded. "Pretty much the same thing, to be honest. I love the outdoors and it's so peaceful out here. It gives you a chance to think, you know? To calm down." Rose probably needed somewhere to calm down after all the chaos erupting in her own life. And a good thing that she had the lake, too. "Plus the weather isn't as cold anymore, so I thought- why not make the most of it?" Rose used to spend so much of her time at the lake before the snow started falling and the lake froze over. It was just too cold to come out and sit by the lake during the winter. But now that spring was coming, she could come back out here as it started to warm up again. Or maybe just become a little less freezing.

Nice To Meet You
Paige sat on the grass, the scratchy bit of nature oh, so... green. She held her hand over the grass softly watching the grass sway and shoot back to its spot. She had to admire the dedication here, the grass ways sprung back. Something comes she wished it was that easy. Life. To be exact.
She looked back up at the redheaded girl. Rose was such a pretty name. A bit straightforward with the red hair, but brilliant and beautiful. Roses also were pretty... and well, this girl did look pretty. And kind. Maybe that's why Paige had walked up. She had gotten welcoming vibes from this girl, and it had caught her attention like a fish on a hook.
"Hmm? Oh, Paige means helper. They believe in the meaning of names a lot, and they wanted a helpful child." She explained, smiling. Rose is a really pretty name." She offered. "i think it really fits." She said, nodding.
She had started pulling up pieces of grass from the ground absent mindedly as she was speaking. She liked to have something to do with her hands. She noticed the grass she had ripped up and had some on her hands. While Rose was speaking, she arranged them into a smiley face on her hand.
She didn't want Rose to think she wasn't listening, so she was quick to reply. I know exactly what you mean. But to be fair, I'm not a very calm person. I'm more energetic." She admitted. She brushed the grass off her hand as she spoke next.
Rose seemed really optimistic. "Smart thinking." She said, smiling. When it was winter Paige hadn't minded the cold weather, but she didn't sit by the lake and do nothing. To be fair, she didn't do that a lot but today was one of those days. It was a good thing to come out, because she got to meet someone as kind as Rose.
Luck was on her side.

Nice To Meet You
Helper. Rose didn't know Paige very well, but she could definitely imagine the girl being an excellent helper. So far in their encounter, she had been nothing but kind and complimentary to her. She smiled. "Thank you. I don't know you that well, but I do think you're a helper. Your parents got your name right."
But if she was being honest? Rose was boring. Like, the name. The name Rose was boring. There were probably millions of people out there who had Rose as their name, or at least, in their name. Rose was regular. Rose was boring. She had no problem with Amber, but Rose? It was just... so normal. This girl in front of her was the first girl she had met that was named Paige. That was cool. That was different. That was unique. Rose? The redhead could just feel everybody who heard it yawn.
Why couldn't she have been named something cool? Something like Paige. Or maybe just something that didn't draw another huge arrow pointing to her red hair. Something that nobody has ever heard before. Something memorable.
Not Rose.
"I can be energetic sometimes," Rose said, looking out at the water. "Just... on days like this, I need a break." Being an introvert, Rose definitely needed alone time, or at least time away from all the bustling crowds of Hogwarts. She didn't mind Paige's presence, as it felt happy. She didn't take away from Rose's peacefulness and rest, but rather made it even better.
Rose liked Paige already.
Rose replied, "Thanks," to Paige's comment. The girl was definitely very kind. Rose wanted to get to know Paige better, so she searched for questions to ask. "What year are you in?" she asked. That way, she could get a better scope of how old she was, what her life and daily routine was like and stuff. If she had to guess, she would be a first year, mostly because Rose hadn't seen her in classes and she looked younger. Rose, of course, could be wrong.
