April 11, 2021.
Students return from Spring Break.
A mere two weeks away at Hogwarts had felt much longer to Simon Kincaid. Up to the point of leaving school to return to London he had been filled with both excitement and anticipating. He was excited to see his friends back in London and catch up with them (best he could, since he couldn't share that he went to this super amazing magical school) and excited to see his Aunt Maggie, but also filled with a slight inner torment. Every time he would think about seeing his aunt's sweet face his stomach would twist a little.
While he knew he had her unconditional love, he couldn't help but wonder what she would think when she learned what he had discovered about himself. It was something he thought about over and over again on those sleepless nights.
He had now returned back to Hogwarts. It had been a good trip. He was able to see those friends and reminisce with them. He was able to talk honestly with his aunt and still felt her unconditional love. The First Year Hufflepuff would still need to come to terms with it fully himself but it seemed that as long as he kept focus on who he truly was - and not so much on WHAT he was - he was happy. It was all where he placed his mindset.
After catch up with some of his friends upon returning, he found himself that evening before curfew in one of the locations of Hogwarts where he spent a good deal of his time - the Rehearsal Room. He had brought back with him some of his music books and wanted to play. Luckily, the piano was free and he sat down, got his book out and flipped to a particular song, and then began to play.

[/font]Vivian was just trotting around, being herself, doing her thing, and so on--when she heard, like, the most divine music coming out of a nearby room. She couldn't help but be drawn towards it and standing by the door to listen. For a while, even Vivian, ridiculously two-dimensional as she was, felt herself lifted away into another world.Interacting: @Simon Kincaid
When it sounded like he was finished, she let out a sniffle--it was hard for anyone to tell whether it was real or fake, herself most of all. The melodrama of her personality blurred the lines significantly. 'Gorgeous, stunning. Was that Bach, because I feel like one of the Bacchae1 after that. I'm, like, so moved.' While she was going on like this, she hadn't failed to notice that the guy playing the piano was super cute, even though he looked like he might need a trip or three to St. Tropez to give him some colour. Gosh, she loved musicians. They were so in-touch with, like, their inner selves. Never mind the fact that last summer she'd told Michelle (her best friend at the time) that musicians, generally speaking, were ratchet losers and there was no point in going near them unless they were super famous. She wiped her eye with an acrylic nail in the exact same way every person who went on Red Table Talk did, like, ever.
Reducio
The Bacchae were the priestesses of the Greek god Bacchus and the subject of a play by the tragedian Euripides, so they had nothing to do with Bach. Vivian mixes things up in her usual way.

Introductions with @Vivian Seoigh
Simon didn't expect anyone to be his audience and smiled a little when she asked if it was Bach, knowing that was probably one of the most well known of famous composers. "Yiruma," he answered her. "Pianist and composer from South Korea." Why he felt the need to bring that up, he didn't know. Maybe it was because his knowledge of the guy ended there.
"Simon Kincaid," he said, no longer putting in the First Year Hufflepuff with his introduction. He used to do that to everyone he met there at Hogwarts but with school ending in a few months' time it no longer seemed very applicable to add that he was a First Year. That, and there were more important discoveries about himself than being just what house he belonged to. Dhampir would be a better description than Hufflepuff...or would it? Honestly, his true self was probably still Simon Kincaid, Hufflepuff.
He brought his hand out for her to shake for a proper sort of introduction and he smiled a soft smile. With this new knowledge of his being, it was more important than ever to stay friendly, to stay grounded, to remain himself.
"What brings you out to the Rehearsal Room?" Not many made their way to the Fourth Floor of the castle at that hour of the day. "If you're wanting the piano, I don't mind abandoning it for now or sharing it."

'Jeez, no,' Vivian snorted. 'I haven't played an instrument since I tried to learn the tambourine and our neighbours called the police because of the noise. Ugh, what a night. Like, who does that, right?' In reality, she'd just been wandering around, lost, since she had neither the time nor the mental capacity to learn off the different routes through the school. Which was a shame, since she'd promised her friend they'd go sunbathing on the lawn in half-an-hour. 'How do you even get that good, though? I literally don't understand. My mom tried to get me to go to piano classes, but my piano teacher said she'd heard about chimpanzees at zoos who could play it better than me. Everyone knows piano teachers are, as a rule, totally bitter and disappointed with their lives--that's why they're so mean. Anyhow, I'm glad the chick wouldn't teach me anymore, because it was even worse than Arts and Crafts class. Did I mention my name, by the way? I'm Vivian.' The beautiful blonde leaned against the doorframe. All at once, she thought of something, and opened up the pink handbag that was never far from her. A small hand-mirror emerged and she gazed at herself in it, a frown growing on her face. 'Do I look like that girl from Planet of the Apes? I do look like the girl from Planet of the Apes. Sorry, got distracted there; had to do a checkup. What was I saying?'

Conversation with @Vivian Seoigh
The tambourine can be rather abrasive," Simon began, starting at the beginning of what the girl said. Her words were a little all over the place. "I mean, a tambourine sounds good if it's accompanied with music and it follows a consistent cadence. If it's banged on it's own it's distracting and annoying. It's a support instrument." She didn't seem too upset though about giving up her dreams of becoming a professional tambourine player so he left that topic go.
"Music takes a lot of time. I had this man at my church that taught me how to play and he was great. Very supportive," and he didn't sound like her instructor at all that put her down terribly. "A great instructor and a lot of practice. I have trouble sleeping and the piano gave me something to do to fill some of that time where I just was awake with little to do. My aunt got used to the sound even late at night," he smiled.
The girl introduced her name and then quickly pulled out a small mirror from her bag and began talking about another subject. Planet of the Apes? Being from the non-magical world, one of the things he and his friends did quite often was to go to the movie theater and see any and all movies that might be showing there. ANY and all. From the best action and comedy to the ones with the subtitles. Simon was pretty sure she meant ones like War of the Planet of the Apes. "Amiah Miller? Yea, actually. You two could practically be twins. She's very beautiful."
"So what brings you this way in the Castle?"

@Simon Kincaid
First impressions? Vivian thought this guy was a real sweetheart, even if he didn't seem to know quite what to do with someone like her. Still, though. Super chill.
Then he started going on about the piano and playing in the middle of the night and his auntie--and Vivian though it was just the cutest thing ever. Big mood. She nodded along, trying to seem like someone who could conceivably be practising a musical instrument at two o' clock in the morning.
'Yeah, I get that,' she cooed. 'I have, like, so much trouble sleeping too.' Not true, but whatever. 'You know, I just usually text my friends when I can't sleep. It kinda works.'
He seemed sort of bemused when she checked up her appearance and mentioned some girl called Amiah Miller, whom she'd never heard of. Still, he said she was beautiful and that they looked so alike they could be twins. If there was one thing Vivian couldn't resist, it was having her ego stroked.
'Amiah Miller? Never heard of her. No--I mean, like, the OG Planet of the Apes--the one from the sixties. The main guy was Charlton Heston and the chick was Linda Harrison, I think. My granny made me watch it. Everyone knows the ending, though--it's, like, them on the horse and then they find the Statue of Liberty so actually the Planet of the Apes is, you know, Earth. Something like that. The reason I said that was that Linda Harrison looked pretty rough in that movie--I mean, she was gorgeous, but after a while on a planet that is literally only occupied by monkeys. Anyone would need a trip or three to the salon after that. And that's just how I'm feeling right now.' She frowned again, squinting at a non-existent imperfection in the mirror and running her hands through her silky-smooth hair. 'I know it's weird, but I totally should have been around in the sixties. That would have been my decade--couldn't you see me as a hippie at Woodstock? I feel like I should have been.'
Then he asked her why she was around this part of the castle, and Vivi just couldn't help but notice that he really was pale. Maybe she should lend him her fake tan bottle? Eh, probably a bad idea; boys could get all huffy over those sorts of things. Dragging herself back to reality, she replied:
'Omigod, I'm so lost, that's pretty much it. This place is so big. Too big. I'm supposed to go sunbathing with my friend by the lake about twenty minutes from now, but I don't think I'll make it, because I won't be able to find my way down to the ground floor. You know, I really didn't imagine that I'd end up studying in Scotland. It really messed up my plans. I was so close to convincing Daddy to move us out to California--we already have a house there, and I just love LA: I'm such a Malibu chick at heart. Then I would've gone to Harvard-Westlake or wherever, and I'd have got scouted by IMG and, you know--lived happily ever after.'

@Offering to help @Vivian Seoigh
"Ah, so she was rough because she was surrounded by the monkeys," he said, smiling some as he listened to her description of why the girl in the original movies wasn't as breathtaking as she could be. "Now come on, certainly I and the rest of our classmates aren't comparable to monkeys. Besides, I'm sure some of us are half goblins, werwolves, dhampirs, and the like," he smiled again, trying to make a joke.
But then she mentioned being lost and his inner helpful Hufflepuff kicked in. Joking aside. "Scotland does make sunbathing rather difficult," he agreed. There was a lot of rain there in the Highlands and even when there wasn't, lots of cloud cover. He liked it, but he knew a lot of the student body liked the sunny radiant days best. Sunny radiant days like those in California that she spoke about. He had never been, but he had seen movies and knew what she was referencing. It seemed beautiful there and someday he'd like to see palm trees. Maybe.
"I'm just a First Year myself and can't say I'm a professional at navigating this castle yet, but I can try and help if you'd like? Find your way to the Ground Floor and help you find your friend?" Sunbathing, that meant most likely outside. He glanced to the windows of the Rehearsal Room where the light was filtering in. One of those bright sunny days.
