"Thank you!" He returned a laugh when Bex commented on his mask. "I found it in the box over there." He pointed in a general direction towards the crates. "There's lots'a stuff, if ya wanna look."
"You too," he replied to Arista, after she introduced herself. "You three know each other?" He glanced between the three. "Not Slytherin, right?" He quirked an eyebrow at Arista. She had mentioned her year, but not her House. "Otherwise I'd be thoroughly embarrassed not to have met ya sooner." He chuckled.
"Well, if ya ever need some study help, just owl," he added to Arista. "These two need it," he hinted playfully at Bex and Grant. "I'm pretty good at Transfig myself. Can't leave any firsty behind." Transfiguration was notorious for being a difficult class, and would only get harder with each passing year. Easier, if one had a good study routine – if study buddies was Arista's thing. Not everyone liked working with others, and Andrew wouldn't push it if they preferred to be alone.
He could tell that Arista was a little shy and nervous, and knew all too well where she was coming from, as he had once been a first year, in awe of the older years and coming to grips with a new school, stressing over making good first impressions. Those little insecurities had faded with time. Soon pride and confidence would fill Arista when she moved up to next year. Most students would take their ascension in stride and put on that air of seniority, but Andrew tried to be friendly and welcoming towards the newbies, as he did everyone, taking the first step to get others to open out of their shell, not to look too intimidating.
"Nice skirt," he complemented Arista over said garment, complete with anklets and a wreath on her head. "Reminds me of one of those hula dancers." He swung his hips slightly as if he was spinning a hula hoop.
Arista asked him what an ocarina was, and Bex hopped in, a little vague on the details, though Andrew very well knew the Muggle reference Bex was talking about. He might as well take it as a compliment to his playing, if Bex would praise the instrument as "great".
"What she said," he explained to Arista, as Bex turned to dig through the craft supplies. "They kind of look like a potato. Yam? Like a toy gun, with a 'handle' that you use to blow in… Well, mine does. They come in different shapes and sizes, but they're very easy to carry in one hand, in my bookbag." He tried using his hands to demonstrate the shape and size of his ocarina, and the finger placement, pretending to blow through it. He didn't expect Arista to grasp the full mental picture of it.
"I'll show it to you sometime, if we see each other around," he told Arista. "I left it back in my dorm. My rat Penelope is guarding it," he half joked. "Do you have a pet?" He asked Arista, eagerly bounding to the subject of animals.
"Looking mighty fine and fashionable, Bex!" He thumbed-up his approval, noticing Rebekah twirling her new scarf, garnishes of leaves and berries sticking out from her hat and belt.
"Right. Well that's it for appetizer," he said, after "drinking" down the last remnants of his popcorn bowl, ready for the "main course". "Shall we all roast some s'mores by the fire?" He turned to the other three, invitingly. "Dinner and a show!" He laughed, seeing how wild and frenzied the dancing around the bonfire had become with the Groundskeeper's rallying calls.

OOC: Ah! I totally forgot about Andrew's "curse"!
And since he's wearing short sleeves, well…
Andy has a bunch of inky black veins covering his left arm. Normally he covers them up with long sleeves, but since it's dark out, maybe he's hoping that no one will notice his markings, or will assume that the markings are a part of his outfit.
Feel free to have your characters notice and ask Andy about it (though I won't complain if you don't).
@Arista Elderman I hope Andy's questions aren't too much for ya! I assume Bex, Grant, and Andy will be more or less roaming around together (since the three of us have OOC-ly planned that they've met and are already friends by this time). I don't want to assume that Arista will stick with them, so if you'd like her to wander off elsewhere, feel free.
@Rebekah Morton @Grant Dale Since I just remembered Andy's curse, I don't know if Bex and Grant are also aware of Andy's markings and if he's told them the story about how he got them. If he hasn't before, then they could always ask now.

While Haley sat around the fire and busied herself with her flowers, she chatted with Henry some more, "Thanks I'm fine too." She gave him another smile before returning her gaze to her hands and the necklace she was in the process of making. She didn't want to be rude and disturb Henry and his friend any further, so she sat quietly around the large campfire for a while, finishing her jewelry. She was so absorbed in her work that she blocked out the world around her and didn't even notice how more and more students joined the campfire.
After a while she raised her eyes and it was obvious that she was startled by what had happened in the meantime. How many new faces she discovered and how beautiful wreaths were everywhere. She paused for a moment and looked proudly at her results. She put on the rest of her necklace and bracelet and briefly stretched her limbs and slid around a bit to loosen her muscles.
And the more Haley became aware of the environment around her, the more the drum reached her ears and she slowly began to sway to the beat. How could she have blocked it out all this time? She shook her head and had to laugh at herself. More and more started joining the ground keeper and started dancing around the fire and Haley loved it. The pettiness of it all and how they were dancing to the sound of the drums around this huge fire and all to welcome spring.
A short time later Henry joined in and wordlessly offered her to join and who would she be if she didn't accept that invitation? She started to grin broadly and her already bouncing legs shifted her upwards with an energetic jump and while she did it she imitated the ground keeper loudly and shouted "AWOOO!" which turned into a loud laugh.
She spun on her own axis and joined the dancing ones, wandering around the big bonfire again and again as they danced.Reducio

Before he knew they had accepted him into their games, Sylvain's thoughts paused, time slowing for a brief moment as his two brand new muddy buddies said something about him being too clean. Next thing he knew, they were both gunning for him with plenty of ammunition in each hand. First a direct strike from Atlas, her aim flying true, she would loose a shot that would strike him square but not clean. Then two shots from Ethen. One of them tossed in the opposite direction at Atlas. Dividing his attention made him that much easier to attack in return. In the heat of this moment, Sylvain came up with a plan on the fly.
Splaf! Went the first blow as it collided with his arm then chest. The clod of sticky wet earth smacked into the mesh of fibers comprising his costume, Atlas's blow drenching him in mud. Sylvain barely had time to close his eyes before it was followed up with a second attack hitting him directly in the face. He could feel the mud inside his nose. The third went flying towards Atlas, unseen by Sylvain. "Oof" he cried out as the two struck him, mud spurting from his nose as he snorted a laugh. Reflexively raising a hand to wipe the mud from his eyes, he could see they were still smiling and having a good time.
"Brave!?!" Sylvain gasped as he grinned wide, a patch of teeth showing through the mud, needles and netting. "I'll show you brave!" Sylvain said scooping up two big handfuls of mud before charging towards the pair of earthen soldiers moving at his full speed. Right before tackling into them, and taking extra care not to hurt anyone in doing so, he launched the handfuls of mud in the air above all of their heads like an explosion, attempting to soak all of them in mud so that they were more evenly matched. The bits of earth fell to the ground all around them. Some even hitting Sylvain himself.
"MUD BOMB!" he shouted playfully laughing as he flopped onto his knees in the pit of soggy earth beneath the three of them. Picking up two more handfuls of mud, Sylvain prepared himself to fire back from his crouched position. Looking directly into Atlas's eyes, he decided to play the villain because it sounded like it would be more fun. "Move a muscle and the boy gets the mud." Sides were chosen. It would be him versus the both of them. "Try me." He inched closer to Ethen, threatening to spill mud over top of his head like an overflowing volcano.

“Your dad’s missing out. Better than never having s’mores at all, though.” Was all Rhys had to add. His own father always chose the coldest nights of the year to have a fire in their backyard, forcing him and his sisters to cram in close as they jostled for the best position nearest the flames, searching for the elusive goldilocks zone. Most times it was Rhys who won, though only because Carys and Caerwyn weren’t able to hold the skewers or their tempers long enough, leaving Rhys’ eyebrows as singed as the marshmallows by the time they were done. Then, sitting back on the crudely chopped log, trying to hand the toasted treat to impatient hands, the heavy blanket of hair-raising cold just beyond the fire’s reach became a soothing balm.
His jumper was trying to suffocate him, he now realized.
Leaning back, angling his face away from the heat, the wrinkling of his nose threw strange shaped shadows up his face. “Really? You think so?” The words ‘great’ and ‘natural’ reverberated a bit more loudly than the rest, but he wasn’t entirely convinced the misshapen crown was all that great or if he was simply a natural at creating a subpar product. Maybe he should just throw it in the fire.
A few red flowers - devoid of thorns - where Jacquelyn had suggested and it was making itself at home on his head. He appreciated her sentiment, regardless of whether or not it was true. Rhys glanced between the flower behind her ear and the crown in her lap. “Thanks. Yours looks about done. Gonna wear it? It's a crown fit for any May Queen I’ve ever seen, Jacko.”
At the mention of Felix and Aeron, he surveyed the flickering shapes nearest them, the mountainous moss monsters trudging about, the heated mud fight happening to his left. “I think we’d know if either of them came down.” Though for two entirely different reasons.
Rhys nodded toward some of the swamp-bedecked students, one slinging mud and another rolling in it, and grinned. “Alright. Which do you think is Aeron and which do you think is Felix?”

"Gabby!" Gabriella looked up to see her friend rushing towards her, beaming widely. She held out two silver bracelets, and the Ravenclaw grinned - they were beautiful. Gabriella chose her bracelet and snapped it onto her wrist, laughing as Gia struggled to put her own on.
"Here, let me help you," laughed Gabby, reaching over and clasping her friend's bracelet together. "Did you make them? You're really talented." Gabriella's mind wandered to the half-finished portrait of her friend that lay in her dormitory - hopefully, Gia wouldn't think she wasn't making an effort to be a good friend, she really was. The Ravenclaw knew that there were more important things in a friendship than material gifts, but even so - these bracelets were amazing, as was the book Gia had given her for her birthday, and what had Gabby given her? A badly-crocheted hat. Not a great exchange. Hopefully, the portrait would be good enough to make up for it, but she hadn't worked on it for a while. I'll finish it over the Easter holidays, she told herself, and surprise Gia with it at the start of the summer term. Then I might be able to frame it too.
"Yeah, I guess you had better grab some stuff," Gabriella agreed when Gia mentioned it. "There's a big pile over there." She waved her hand helpfully in the direction of the supplies. "There's food, too." She smirked; if anyone knew about her food obsession, it was Gia. "I haven't really decided yet whether I'll go crazy, although he obviously is." Gabriella giggled and pointed to someone in the distance who seemed to be wearing a bush - evidently, someone Gia knew, although the Ravenclaw couldn't recognise them.
"Nice outfit, Mr Céspedes!" the Gryffindor exclaimed, confirming Gabby's thoughts - she didn't know the person under the bush, although she would probably recognise them if they were to take the bush off. Admittedly, Gabriella hadn't actually noticed the bush man yet, but as soon as her eyes fell on him, she knew she definitely wanted to dress like him. It was like at her Muggle primary school, she realised, when she had been utterly confused as the other girls in her class dressed like their favourite celebrities on non-uniform days, just because they wanted to be like whichever celebrity they happened to be fawning over. Gabby herself had never understood it, but now she supposed she might be able to see the compulsion - although she had to admit her motivation for wanting to be a bush was very different from that of her old classmates.Word count: 434

♣ The Outfit ♣
After the classes for the day ended, Cash initially plan to just relax in their dorm or even read a book or two near the fireplace that located in their Common Room. As they entered the Common Room of Slytherin, they heard about the errand that Groundkeeper of the school held.
Their dorm mates kept raving about it non stop and the green eyes interested piqued in. Quickly the second year marched into their dorm and change their outfit to be more proper for the occasion. Cash rummaged their trunk and found some ensemble of clothing.
Once Cash satisfied of what they wore, they got out from their dorm room and continued their stride toward where the event located. As Cash stride almost reached their destination, they heard a soft drumming sound from the distance.
Once Cash set foot on the ground near where the Grounds Keeper's cabin located, the smell of burning fire wood wafted in the air and hit their sense of smell. The green eyes pocketed their hands in their jean jacket that they wore. In the center of the ground, it is where the bonfire located.
The sound of crackling woods being burnt somehow calm the purple haired. Though it is still cool but the bonfire was large enough that emitted enough heat. Cash made a small tour around the premise. They saw a large amount of things that they could created if Cash feel up to it. But they do not.
Usually the Slytherin Beater was a creative person but Cash just want to hang around with their school mates and maybe have a chat or two. As the green eyes arrived at the concession tables, they saw a varieties array of food and drinks. Cash looked at the choices of the food and beverages.
The green eyes then picked up a plate and filled it with a decent amount of snacks and dessert. The young socialite then picked up a glass of grape juice but Cash can not be sure of the said liquid because how low the light was. Cash only hope it is grape juice. Then the green eyes bring all of their thing and sat at the ground.
As Cash enjoyed their selections, they looked around. Cash saw some familiar faces amongst the large group of students that gathered in this event. Some dress in a shrubs, some dress a simple outfit but yet still in theme which is nature. Some also being creative making a bracelet or crown or even put their flowers and natures element on their outfit.
For those students whose wearing some sort of shrubs, Cash smirked at themselves. They are daredevil Cash thought to themselves. With how large the bonfire is and they wearing shrubs, it is definitely a fire hazard. Cash wondered where the Grounds Keeper at until their eyes laid on a giant shrub watching all the kids around.
Being in nature definitely help Cash a bit from their chaos mind. Cash then looked on the fire that burning the woods. The green eyes wondered how their mother doing back home. Ever since the Ministry representatives came to their home and announced that their father dead, their mother has not been the same.
Cash let out a breath. Sometime they wondered if they should drop their school and just be with their mother but Cash know that their mother would not allowed such things. Cash then picked up the dark liquid that in the cup they selected previously. Cash took a tentative sips and their guess was corrected.
Inside the cup is a grape juice. As Cash continued on their food and beverages, a pang of sadness filled their chest cavity. Cash wanted to say hello to other people but Cash was not up to it unless a person come up to them and started a conversation with them. Being around people in their own age group somehow make Cash wanted to just up and leave.
They could be smiling and people could tell that they are happy but their not. Sure Cash had many friends and their status as a Quidditch player helped them a bit but sometimes being in a large crowd make the green eyes more lonely more than ever. Cash loved people watching.
Once they out of their food and beverages, Cash set aside the plat and cup that they used. The green eyes took out their aspen wand out of the inside pocket of the jean jacket that they wore. Cash twirled it around on their hand like how those drummer player did. Cash wondered if they accidentally set a fire, would the Ground Keeper noticed it?
That thought briefly fleeting in their mind but at the end, Cash opted not to do that unless someone come up to them and dare them to do so. Maybe just maybe Cash would do that.
They were bored out of their mind but suddenly they remembered a spell that they learnt last year.
Seeing their friends chatting amongst themselves, put a smile on their face. Cash then stopped their movement and hold their wand in their hand. "Bullarum Immortalem"Cash spook lowly to themselves. Not long after that a string of bubbles come out from their wand.
Cash looked at the bubble lifted up to the air and it took some time until the bubbles popped. Cash hoping someone would notice the bubbles and come up to them to have a little chat with the second year.

"Hufflepuff!" Arista practically almost shouted when Andy questioned her house. She didn't want him to feel bad, so she quickly replied before a misunderstanding could occur.
And at the mention of help in studies, Arista's eyes lit up. She briefly entertained the thought of having study sessions with friends, instead of being stuck hours at a time in her dorm room alone to agonize over parchments and parchments of study materials. Yes, it would indeed be nice to have company for things like that!
"I think I manage Potions all right..." Arista said, shifting in her spot as she looked at the three other students in turns. "The others, though..." She gulped, not finishing her sentence. It wasn't like she's doing terribly in schoolwork; but she couldn't deny that she often took her time in getting assignments done and reviewing lessons after classes end. "I'd love to join if you're studying together," she said with a small smile, directing it more to Bex and Grant - she assumed Andy was just being nice and he didn't really plan to tutor Tranfiguration to some first years.
Arista beamed and thanked Andy earnestly for his compliment on her skirt. When Bex and Andy talked about ocarinas though, Arista had to blink several times as she tried to picture what this thing actually looked like...
An image of a small instrument the shape of a gun conjured up in her mind. She added the tiny holes as per Bex and Andy's description and somehow thought of a potato-like skin for the texture. Huh. What an odd object, she mused seriously, folding one hand across her chest and the other to her chin, stroking it thoughtfully. She supposed she just had to ask her brother about this later; perhaps request for a photograph too, to better understand them. Ocarinas, huh...
She jolted back to reality soon enough though, and found herself slowly turning red when she realized she probably did make a fool of herself. Cursing inwardly at her ignorance, Arista said, "I'm sure they're charming things! And special too, by the sound of it, if your rat is trusted with keeping it safe." She wasn't sure if rats were capable of those things, but if an older student said it, then it must be true. Perhaps a special potion or spell to make these creatures more capable of securing precious objects...?
(Of course, the possibility that Andy was simply joking never occurred to Arista at all. If her more socially-adept sister had heard this conversation, no doubt she would lost her balance laughing at Arista's antics)
"We have some animals at home," Arista replied eagerly. "Arthur and Henrietta are my mum and dad's horses; Butterscotch is mine and my sister's; the Border Collies are Sugar, Cookie, and Brownie; the Labrador is Peanut Butter; and the cats are Beth and Clara. Oh, and my brother's owl is Ludwig, but we don't really see him much."
She wondered if she was going too fast with the pets' names, but Andy looked like a bright wizard. She was certain he's got all of them perfectly.
Before Arista could ask Bex and Grant about their pets (or lack thereof), a noise unlike that of a jungleman resonated across the Grounds. Startled, Arista whipped her head around to find the Groundskeeper howling and continuing to dance rather erratically.
"He looks like he's having fun," Arista whispered to Grant, grinning.
Then she noticed Bex draping her ivy-scarf around her neck dramatically and giggled at that. For good measure, Arista gave a little clap too. "The fanciest," she declared, nodding her head - perhaps a little too solemnly for a make-do plant getup at the school grounds.
She decided she would follow the group quietly for the rest of the evening. The energy was lovely here, she thought, and she had been surprisingly enjoying socializing up until now. So much so that she didn't even noticed that she hadn't eaten a single bite since she got here - perhaps she ought to do something about that soon.

INTERACTIONS===========================@Carolyn Hunt and @Bailey GladeMENTIONS@Michael Miller, @Aurora Ranvier, @Eliseo Céspedes I just realised that I've been saying 'Summer' rather than 'Spring'. That's a completely OOC error on my part, sorry; to clarify, Lucia's dressing up as the Spirit of SummerCarolyn didn't know all the names of all the flowers, it seemed, but Lucia was still fairly sure that the Ravenclaw knew more than she did. At least Carolyn didn't brag about it though. Some Ravenclaws were very convinced in that they knew everything, and Lucia never really knew how to talk to people like that. Unless it was Willow, but Willow was only six, and she probably wouldn't be a Ravenclaw anyway. Lucia had never met her maternal grandmother for obvious reasons (you couldn't meet someone who was dead), although she suspected that the two wouldn't have known each other even if the Veela had been alive. Lucia wasn't sure she wanted to meet one of the vicious creatures of Ebony's stories, even if she was her grandmother. She had met her paternal grandmother a few times, but Lucia couldn't remember her very well. Her father's parents hadn't been very welcoming ever since Antony had disappeared. "Your father's a Muggle, but your mother's a witch?" Lucia blurted before she knew what was coming out of her mouth. "Doesn't that- you know- get confusing? Like, how did-" Then she realised what she was saying. "Oh mother of Merlin. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that, I swear. I was just curious. Sorry. Again." She flushed in embarrassment. "Um, it's cool that they're both healers... well, healer-like, I guess. Similar enough. Do you want to be a healer too?"
The Ravenclaw didn't seem to mind Lucia's probably too-detailed description of the Spirit of Spring, even saying that she would like to read the book if Lucia could find it anywhere. The Hufflepuff flushed. "Well, um, I'll send you a copy if I find one anywhere," she said, firmly resolving not to. "It's all about natural balance, between good and evil and life and death and all that. It's quite a heavy book for a children's story, to be honest."
"Okay," Lucia agreed, in response to Carolyn's mention of keeping everything colourful. "Wait! I'll be back in a moment." She got up and went over to one of the crates, carefully picking up two handfuls of daisies and carrying them slowly over to where she and Carolyn were sitting. "I'll make some daisy chains while you're showing me - they don't really require much concentration." She vaguely noticed a boy - wasn't that Michael Miller? - and a girl who had joined their table since she had left it, but neither said anything to her specifically so she just ignored them as best she could. "He's very... loud, isn't he?" Lucia murmured to Carolyn, cocking her head in the direction of the groundskeeper. "Do you think he's insane?" She winced.
By the time Carolyn had finished explaining how to make the crowns, Lucia had finished one daisy necklace for her and was half-way through one she planned to give to Carolyn, while Carolyn was nearly finished with Lucia's crown. Or was it an example? Lucia suddenly wasn't sure. "Okay!" she said instead, and held out a hand for the crown. "Could I try and have a go?" If Carolyn gave her the crown, she would follow the Ravenclaw's instructions carefully, forehead creasing in concentration. "Is that right?"
"Yes! I'd love to," Lucia said honestly when Carolyn asked to dance with her. "I don't think I've ever danced to just drums before," she added.
A blonde walked up to the pair and introduced herself as Bailey, but when Lucia opened her mouth to respond the other girl just kept on talking. Lucia closed her mouth and kept one eye on her hands, finishing off Carolyn's daisy necklace. When Bailey finally paused, Lucia took the opening. "Not really," she admitted with a shrug. "It just kinda happened. I'm-" but Bailey once again wasn't listening, instead looking around at the scene before them and saying something to herself. Lucia looked over at Carolyn and raised her eyebrows in an expression which clearly said, Well... this is awkward. Then she noticed a year snaking down Bailey's cheek and blinked before fixing her gaze firmly on the daisy chain. She quickly finished it then looked over at Carolyn again. "Here, do you want this?" she asked, holding out the chain. If Carolyn did, Lucia would move around so that she could tie it around the Ravenclaw's neck. If not, she would begin to tie it around her own.
However, the blond girl turned back to them and asked again for their names. "Um. Lucia," the Hufflepuff said, sounding a little confused. She would usually hold out a hand at this point, but she didn't due to the fact that her hands were occupied with tying the ends of the necklace together. "Fox. But again, Lucia was fairly sure the girl wasn't listening. She huffed, then snapped, "You know, conversations go both ways." It was something Ebony had often told Willow at home, when the younger girl had not stopped talking.

Preparing for her next attack, Atlas immediately felt her body thrust forward as the mud flew from her hands at impact as she felt the handful of mud Ethen had launched at her drenching the back of her head. Pressing her tongue to the inside of her cheek, Atlas shook her head in playful anger but quickly turned her focus to their new victim as she hoped the double attack wouldn’t cause him to leave their mud pit.
Ethen and Atlas had been known to be attached at the hip and while they were always willing to include people or make new friends they found that their weirdness or rather their obnoxiousness tended to have people keep away from them but as the young boy wiped the mud from his covered face and laughed, Atlas could feel her chest decompressing, thankful they hadn’t gone too far.
The young girl barely had time to gather two more handfuls of mud as the stranger challenged them, hands full of mud as he ran towards them with energy and angst. Her eyes subconsciously widening, Atlas squealed in delight as the boy threw his hands of mud into the air before landing between them as freezing semi-hardened mud rained down upon them.
Shaking her head like a puppy, Atlas could feel the mud oozing between her fingers as she tried her best not to lose too much ammunition. Lifting her head up, Atlas found the boy looking at her as she held his gaze intently.
"Move a muscle and the boy gets the mud. Try me.”
Atlas’s eyebrow twitched in playful response as she weighed her options and the call out the boy made that made every competitive bone in her body vibrate with energy. She could see he was putting on a bold almost devious front but he clearly didn’t know much about her.
“Oh is that so?” She chided her chin cocking up to make herself seem bigger. “You should know your target thoroughly before threatening,” the young girl continued a devilish smile twisting on her face. Smashing her muddy hands into Ethen’s face, Atlas pushed him backward as she abruptly turned back to her playful antagonist.
“You assume I don’t want him to get dirty but that goes against everything we stand for. So whaddya got next for me, moss boy? You are going to have to be more creative.” Atlas tried her best to hold her devilish grin but she could feel her lips pursing tightly at their effort to tangle into a full-blown laugh.

Carolyn shook her head with a smile. “Please, don’t apologise. I don’t mind talking about my family.” Well…most of them at least. Her brain supplied almost immediately, reminding her of the reason behind her recent sour mood. “I happen to think I’m quite lucky actually. I got to experience both worlds and while I grew up in the muggle one, my mother was always there to explain everything when it came to magic. That way I was quite well prepared for Hogwarts unlike some other students with a single background. Though I imagine most of them are happy with their situation as well.” She shrugged nonchalantly. It was apparent some of her classmates weren’t all that interested in muggles and the witch didn’t mind as long as they didn’t bully others because of their heritage. All in all, Carolyn was surrounded by a very colourful environment thorough her whole life. Not only was she half-blood witch but she was also mixed race, giving her an opportunity to experience two different cultures while growing up. It probably wasn’t apparent from her features since she got most of them from her father but one could at least question her name. “To be fair, I was always more confused by the muggle part of my life since my grandparents don’t really speak English. I had to learn two languages, which at times could be more difficult than figuring out the wizarding world but I’m grateful for that experience as well.” She admitted honestly. “As for the healer part, I’m actually not sure. My mother seems to think I have a talent for it and I do find it fascinating but is it something I actually want to do?”Many other people had asked her the same question but Carolyn had yet to figure out the answer. She did admire her parents' work but she also knew about all the disadvantages that came with it and she wasn’t sure whether she was ready for those. “I don't really know...I’ll have to think about it some more. What about you? Any idea what you’d like to do?” She asked in return giving Lucia a satisfied nod once she promised she’ll try to send a copy of her book. It truly sounded interesting the more she heard about it.
After that, the young Hufflepuff left the table for a moment in search of some more flowers. Carolyn looked over curiously but seeing the daisies later it was pretty clear what she had in mind. "I'll make some daisy chains while you're showing me - they don't really require much concentration." The Ravenclaw smiled in response. “Alright, that sounds good.” For a while the girls worked in relative peace until a young boy joined their table. Her attempt for interaction failed before she even had a chance to say anything but it didn’t bother her that much. "He's very... loud, isn't he? Do you think he's insane?" Carolyn raised her head to see the groundskeeper. He was loud indeed but not in an unpleasant way. The young witch enjoyed silence but at times like these some noise was also very appreciated and she liked the drums. He also seemed a bit odd indeed but that didn’t bother her either. “Perhaps he is…but you know what? One of my favourite muggle stories says all the best people are and I think there is some truth to that. Obviously it’s better to avoid the properly insane people but the peculiar ones can be quite interesting company. She said thoughtfully. That was probably her inner artist talking. Carolyn generally avoided complicated situations but she was still a rather curious child so she was naturally drawn to anything interesting.
Soon after, the Ravenclaw was done with the flower crown and her teaching. It was obvious Lucia was indeed listening to her despite creating her own piece and Carolyn was glad to hear she would like to try making one as well. “Of course,” she nodded, passing the headpiece to the other girl and watched carefully as she worked. “Yes, that’s right. See, it’s not as difficult as it looks.” Lucia seemed like a fast learner. She did a small mistake here and there but it was always an easy fix and she never did the same one again. Carolyn still remembered her first flower crown. Grandma threw that one away without mercy but she did keep the second one once she was done criticising it."I don't think I've ever danced to just drums before.”Carolyn nodded in understanding. “Me neither but I had to do without music many times and it is manageable so I dare to say we will be fine. In any case, we are not here to put on a show anyway, just to have bit of a fun. I don’t enjoy being in the centre of attention anyway.” That much was true. She loved performing ballet on stage but other than that she preferred staying away from crowds and judging eyes.
Before they could discuss the matter further another first year student joined their table. In all honesty, Carolyn was content with talking to Lucia but she was willing to indulge the newcomer. Well…at first she was. The way Bailey spoke reminded her of her maternal grandmother. She was talking at them rather than with them and it just made her feel somewhat frustrated. Still, she waited patiently only exchanging a brief look with her Hufflepuff friend. Finally, there was a short pause during which Lucia managed to reply to the girl but she didn’t quite get to finish. Carolyn raised her eyebrows. She generally didn’t mind chatty people since she was the quiet type and it filled the silence perfectly but she still appreciated feeling like she was an actual part of the conversation. Then the tears came and she genuinely felt a bit lost. She was good at giving advice but definitely not at comforting people. Bailey was probably homesick which was understandable but Carolyn was someone who didn’t open up to people easily so she found it weird watching someone cry when they just met. She wondered briefly if she was cruel for thinking so but considering the look Lucia gave her, they seemed to have a mutual understanding of the situation. “Yes please…it’s very pretty.” She whispered towards the raven-haired girl, allowing her to tie the chain around her neck. "Sorry…But I don't think I caught your names. Could I have them again please?" The blonde girl suddenly spoke again. Well…you didn’t give us a chance… Carolyn mused while Lucia introduced herself. “I’m Carolyn Hunt.” She answered too although it looked like the girl was not paying attention again. It really was like the one-sided conversations with Anemone and for the first time in many years the young Ravenclaw felt rather irritated. This was highly unlike her. She was known to be polite, patient and calm most of the time. Strange... She noted mentally.
"You know, conversations go both ways." In the end, it was Lucia who snapped. Any other day, Carolyn might have felt bad for the girl but today she couldn’t really bring herself to do so. Not to mention it was a very valid criticism. Bailey probably didn’t mean to be disrespectful and was simply in an emotional state of mind but so was Carolyn and yet she still managed to be present. “She has a point, you know? If you decide to start a conversation it’s only polite to actually pay attention to the other side.” She made sure not to sound mean as she said the words. It wasn’t her goal to upset the young girl but it would be a valuable lesson for future interactions, may it be with her or anybody else for that matter.
