Quidditch: Ravenclaw v Gryffindor

Mentioning: @Cecily Quinn, @Anastasia Beckett, and @Evelynn Decipio specifically.
Thomas would go on to blabber on about some egotistical nonsense with stupidly large words that Ami had absolutely no intention of paying attention to, his authority as a prefect surfacing as he addressed his housemate. However, all parties involved in the mild scuffle seemed to quickly lose interest, and Ami would shuffle back to her previous seat with the intention of properly focusing on the match. She had a team to study and friends to support, after all.
A common theme throughout past Quidditch matches that anyone with half a brain would notice was that Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw rarely, if ever, stooped to foulplay. Slytherin and Gryffindor, of course, had never any qualms against blatching and any other forms of field tomfoolery, but Ami distinctly recalled Hufflepuff always winning with clean games. But now... the fourth year chewed her lip nervously as she watched Ravenclaw and Gryffindor battle it out on the field, realizing that maybe it was time for a bit of evolution. It was a new era, after all, where even someone as irresponsible as Ami could rise to the position of Co-Captain.
She watched with a delighted smile as Cecily would lunge for the Quaffle not once, but twice in the first few minutes of the match, tossing it through the unguarded hoops with an undeniably attractive swagger. "That's my girl!" she cheered loudly, pumping her fist in the air. "God, I hope Ravenclaw crushes you guys in the next match," she added in the Slytherin prefect's direction with a smirk. "Slytherin? Going winless? That'd be the highlight of my life."
A flash of brilliantly blonde hair would streak by, completely different from Cecily's comfortingly familiar mess of blonde curls. Ana really seemed to be in her element on the pitch, which was certainly a nice change of pace from the haughty (yet warm?? girls are confusing) princess-like Beckett that she knew and... loved? Did she love Ana? Sure, they were pretty much family at this point, considering how much time the pair had spent together over the winter holidays. Although she seemed to be sitting back and either letting her teammates grab the Quaffle or waiting on lifeguard duty for the most part, Ami knew that she would surely find her time to shine.
Which left one last POI for Ami to watch. Decipio. If she had to completely honest (and she would, because this is narration and I get to say Whatever I Want), Evelynn was probably the best seeker currently playing in Hogwarts. Sure, Serena could probably out-seek and out-fly her by miles, but Towers was no longer playing for Hufflepuff. And yes, she loved Emrys and every last bit of weirdness he brought to the team, but he simply couldn't out-do his Gryffindor counterpart. No way. Evelynn was just quicker, sharper, and more ruthless. The two redheads had spent many, many hours out on the pitch together, and she knew that Hufflepuff would have quite a time during their match against Gryffindor. Even the might Ravenclaws were struggling against the lions, losing player after player as the Gryffindor players seemed set on a massacre.
She glanced over at Thomas warily, before nodding towards the field. "Whaddaya think of Evie- er, Decipio?" she inquired gently, her gaze darting between the stoic Slytherin and the redhead darting about the pitch. All three of them worked on the Headliner together, and all three of them were passionate in their love of Quidditch. Surely Thomas would get along with Evelynn as well as she did. "She's dope, ain't she?"

Quidditch: Ravenclaw v Gryffindor
Rose's answer surprised him, she asserted that she was sure that Anastasia tripped her, which was bold enough to feel like her honest opinion. She had a certain way of talking... though he intended to keep a close eye on the game, he started to wonder if his time would be better spent paying attention to who Miss Rose was. If her intention was to badmouth Anastasia to her boyfriend, she had certainly pulled off feigning an innocently friendly approach. Either she was lying through her teeth, or she was being frank, and Flash wanted to know which one it was.
It seemed like she had nothing more to share, though. It would be a good way to sow distrust intentionally, but as paranoid as Flash was about peoples' intentions, he would also not simply assume the worst. Truthful until proven otherwise was a model he tried to follow, he always aired on the side of safe rather than sorry. Still, there was no point in prying further. "I see. Thank you for telling me." He'd say it with a bit of a sigh. He hadn't heard anything about Eyre from Anastasia. Not that she would, they generally avoided uncomfortable topics when talking.
When she continued about her own reasons for choosing dueling, he was starting to get an idea of who she was. If this whole interaction wasn't some kind of farce, then Rose was more outwardly honest than most people upon first acquaintance. Perhaps he had been spending too much time in that wretched snake den, it threw off his concept of other people. Not everyone had a motive. Perhaps it was why Flash was so often drawn to Gryffindors, it was quite refreshing when words could be taken at face value. Her admission did cause her an amount of shame, which also seemed genuine. He wouldn't have that.
"It's not pathetic. If fear motivates you, you can use it." His words were a bit harsher than his tone, which was consoling and friendly. "If the only reason you play sports is to be the best at them, focus on becoming the best, not the fact that you aren't the best already."
Flash had a logical way of making decisions that followed the same principle. Just as focus was important in spellcasting, it was also important in decision making. For many, they lacked the confidence to be decisive, but Flash had been taught by his sister that he would need to have conviction if he was going to be successful in life. For him, it was simple, yet he knew it was not just a matter of knowing the right path and taking it. There was often a lot more to it, more than could realistically be calculated. Still, there was nothing he hated more than wasting time. It ran out so quickly, even when he tried to use it to its fullest.
As Rose talked on, Flash did indeed find himself more interested in the conversation than the game. He would be reminded of it when the conversation returned to it. He looked back at the field, almost surprised, feeling a bit sheepish for having missed so much. At the very least it seemed it wasn't over. There was a lot more frantic action now, likely the snitch really had been seen. The second-string Seeker for the Ravenclaw team was out now, which wasn't a good sign for them, and Evelynn was on Rafael's broom. It likely wouldn't be too much longer now, he re-focused his attention back to the game, no longer watching Rose's face for reactions as they talked.
"Either winning would make me happy. My friend Sylvain became co-captain of the Ravenclaw team recently, so of course I'd like for his first game to go well. Though, of course, Anastasia is on the Gryffindor team, and I know how much she loves the game. She's always very vibrant after a victory." Flash smiled to himself, despite the two of them not actually being particularly close, he did enjoy basking in her energetic happiness whenever he had the chance to. Flash always felt better when the people close to him were happy. "Alan and Evelynn are also my friends, so I'd like to see them succeed. Then again, Gryffindor already won one game, so it would be better for me if they didn't win two."
She had said she thought she'd seen him, which meant she wasn't sure. "... Because I play for the Slytherin team, of course." He also didn't see the point in asking her who she was rooting for, as there was a better way to ask it, "Is there anyone on the team you're supporting in particular?"

seersorry that I took like foreverEverly's gaze settled on Cade. "Adventures. Sure, I suppose that's one word for it. But yeah, it's a relief that everyone's okay. Everything seemed a bit rocky with... SCAR, right, and everything else that was going on." She squinted as she tried to recall it in her head.
Everly raised her eyebrow. "Maybe he was. I don't know him too well though, so..." She gave a little shrug.
With the match starting, Everly's attention quickly pulled away and she watched intently as Ravenclaw pulled an early lead but Gryffindor quickly caught up. She spotted people she recognized and didn't, starting to cheer like everyone else. Cupping her hands, she yelled, "Go Gryffindor!" watching as players started to fall, the bludgers and beaters relentless.
Attempting to start a bit of small talk, she turned back to Cade and Valencia. "So, anything interesting going on lately? Pretty sure Valentine's Day is coming up. Are you doing anything?" she asked, directing the question to both of them. She squinted as she tried to recall what she had planned. There was a dinner she'd signed up for, right? Free food, so it was a yes for her. And a cookie errand, wasn't there? Now she really wished she had kept track of her things better.───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

@Flash Holmwood
OOC: It was a joy to thread with you, but since the Quid game ended, Rose will be leaving the thread.
Rose nodded. "Of course." She wasn't sure what kind of things that her telling Flash that would bring about, but she did know that she wasn't going to lie, and she especially wasn't going to lie just to protect someone like Anastasia Beckett from the truth. It wasn't like she was spreading gossip or rumors or something. She was just having a conversation with somebody and telling him the truth when he asked her a question.
Flash then jumped in to defend her and encourage her, telling het that she wasn't pathetic. He was right, though. Her fear could motivate her, fuel her. "It's less about wanting to be the best, and more about really wanting to not be the worst," she shared, looking back towards the game, her emerald eyes following the students on brooms. She didn't expect herself to be the best. No, her standards for herself were way too low for her to even attempt to be the best. But she just didn't want to fail every single time she tried doing something. "But you're right, though. About all of that." Flash was right- he was smart. Why did she even care that much? Why was she so scared of Quidditch anyway? Why was she so stressed about winning or losing? These were just supposed to be about having fun?
But she couldn't just quit the dueling team now. She couldn't just give up now. That would be even more pathetic. She had to see all three of the rounds through. And if things changed after that, she could just roll with the punches.
Flash was smart and decisive. She wished she could be like that, ready to take the risks of what came with whatever decision she went with. But instead, in her head she had to mull it over. Measure out the pros and cons, and their weights. She had to think things through, and consider her words before they came out of her mouth. She was a much more thoughtful and observant person, and in order to not make a reckless choice, she had to think things through. All the way through. Other people she knew- more outgoing people- could make decisions in a matter of seconds. Sometimes they would have negative effects, and sometimes they would have positive effects. But in order for Rose to make a decision she felt good with, she had to turn it over in her head, look at it from different sides. She kind of wished she could be faster than she was at making decisions- good decisions.
One of the Chasers tried three times to score goals, but none of them were successful. Looks like somebody was actually blocking them now- smart on the Ravenclaws' end. The Beaters were still dominating, causing people to fall off their brooms again and again, forcing the blonde to be saved by a redhead boy.
The score hadn't changed, and the Golden Snitch hadn't been caught. Just Scarlett and her Bludger partner hitting the birds over and over again. "That makes sense," she answered the boy after his explanation of who he would want to win.
Flash asked her if there was anyone in particular she was rooting for. She nodded. "The redhead beater- that's Scarlett- she's one of my very close friends. She's doing very well," the redhead replied, glancing to Flash and then back to the game.
Rose was about to ask another question to further their conversation but then something on the pitch caught her eye- a spiral dive. The Gryffindor Seeker, along with Rafael, whom she had met very briefly, were on the same broom and diving down towards- the snitch. Rose only saw it as the Seeker's hand closed over it. And just like that, Gryffindor had won. It had been an incredibly short game, well played by both sides. But in the end, Gryffindor had twelve times as many points as Ravenclaw, marking them as the clear winner. Rose smiled- what a good win. She would have to tell Scarlett how absolutely amazing she had done later. She was glad the Gryffindors had ended out on top. Rose stood and clapped for the Gryffindors, keeping her eyes on Scarlett. Yeah, they deserved this win. After all the deafening cheering died down and Flash would be able to hear her, she turned back to him. "That was a short match, but it was interesting anyway," she assessed. The redhead was clearly happy that her House had won- it would probably do well for their house points. "It was nice talking with you, Flash. I hope we meet again," she said, in all honesty. "Good luck on your game tomorrow," she smiled. Slytherin versus Hufflepuff was the day after the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw match.
It had been an interesting and pleasant conversation, talking with Flash, and there were not many people who were that honest, as Flash was with her. She appreciated that and liked Flash as a person.

Quidditch: Ravenclaw v Gryffindor
To Flash's words, Rose's responses showed some acceptance, perhaps a small twinge of hopelessness. Confidence wasn't every lion's strong suit. He wouldn't bolster his argument though, he had no vested interest in her sports career for now. Truth be told, every bad duelist from another house was another easy win for Slytherin. He knew how much his house loved winning, their victory celebrations were some of the only occasions they gathered together, when they weren't investigating some death trap or fighting one another.
The game was becoming a bit one-sided, with the Ravenclaws becoming the underdogs quickly. Though Flash gained a small smile on his face when he heard her association with Scarlett, it was quickly overwhelmed by the cheering from the stands as Evelynn and Rafael dived for the snitch. What a shame, that was two wins for Gryffindor after all. Their team was becoming a lot more cohesive lately, it was good that the two could work together long enough to win. In the past, Evelynn and Rafael were a bit at odds. Maybe they had smoothed things over?
As the cheering waned, Rose quickly wrapped up their engagement, a happy grin on her face. As far as Quidditch games go, it was one he had been fairly distracted during. Perhaps the information about Anastasia was bothering him, or the fact that no one could compare to the company of Bridget. Rose was a new acquaintance after all, so there were many things he needed to watch as she talked. It was overall a calm, polite experience. Flash liked those sorts of experiences.
"It's been a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He would say, standing and giving her one last smile. "Thank you, and well wishes on your next duel as well."
He would have to go celebrate with Anastasia later, though she would certainly be celebrating with her Quidditch family first.

Quidditch: Ravenclaw v Gryffindor
The school nurse seemed awfully happy at the Healer Hawkeye title, and Marcus chuckled a bit at the man's enthusiasm about it. A grin remained on his face as the healer talked of never knowing if he'd make a good Ravenclaw. "I'm afraid I have my hands full with the flock as it currently is," he said, looking towards the crowd and the field at all the blue and bronze he was seeing. "Although, what I'm hearing is you'll ditch Browne's house for mine?" Marcus was smirking as he turned back to the man sitting beside him. "In that case, maybe we do have room," he joked, before taking another sip of his coffee.
As Nurse Brumby talked about being a healer and seeing people get hurt, Marcus nodded in understanding. That was certainly one way to think of it, but he had definitely met a healer or two who cringed at the moments of injury, only able to handle the aftermath.
The Ravenclaw v Gryffindor game began a moment later at the whistle of the referee, and Marcus turned his attention to the field. His house was off to a good start, and Ms Quinn scored twice. At the same time though, he watched as one of the beaters was knocked off his broom and failed to be caught. Kelsey pointed out the falling boy and commented.
"A violent nature?" Marcus repeated those words, his expression unchanging from the more serious look it had taken on during the game. The Head of Ravenclaw did not turn to look at the healer, keeping his amber eyes on the game. Marcus did not think he was naturally violent, but he could be. He could be deadly even, when put in a ring. But it had been a long time since that had last happened. But then there was the fact that, without a certain potion monthly, a violent nature on a full moon couldn't be avoided. "I guess it depends on who you ask," he said after a few moments of contemplation. But he didn't want to say much more than that. He flexed his left fist, which was visibly scarred all over, then took another sip of coffee.
In the next few minutes, the Gryffindors had made a huge stride in the game. They were scoring left and right, and the Ravenclaws were falling from the sky. It was a bit of a painful game for Marcus to watch - probably for any Ravenclaw to watch. Although he and Healer Hawkeye shared some small talk during the game, they were both mostly paying attention and commenting on what was happening on the field.
As the game came to its conclusion and the Gryffindor seeker/chaser combo were in pursuit of the snitch, Marcus' eyes were counting the Ravenclaw players left on the field. Only four of them had managed to stay on a broom until the end, with the rest either fallen to the semi-softened pitch below or mysteriously missing from the match as a whole. It had been one heck of a Quidditch match to witness.
"Well, I expect you'll be attending to a fair amount of my students, so I may accompany you down to the field and Hospital Wing," Marcus said as the stands suddenly erupted in cheers or boos, indicating the snitch had finally been caught. The Head of Ravenclaw got to his feet, holding the near-empty thermos of coffee and turning to the healer he had watched the game with. "That was a rough match," he commented.

Quidditch: Ravenclaw v Gryffindor

At Marcus' response, he received a long, boisterous laugh in reply. Not only because he called the kids his 'flock', as adorable as that was, but the idea of him being a put into Ravenclaw under his tutelage. His overactive imagination had him holding his gut before it hurt too much. Him, sitting full grown next to a bunch of first years, giving wrong answers on purpose. There really was no end to the funny scenarios. Shortly after, the billow of laughter would slowly cease to incredulous chuckles.
"I think I'm better suited t'burrows than bird's nests." He snorted, having never seen the inside of the Ravenclaw tower, but knowing it must have been quite a proper and clean place. Too stodgy for a swamp beast like him. "Love t'whole competitive acceptance thing, tho."
Mostly keeping an eye on the game, given that it was what he had come for, he did keep an ear out for Marcus' response to his question. He hadn't really expected something so vague, given that from outward appearances he carried himself like a proper gent. People didn't come to be in such a major position by being a nobody though, so there was little room to doubt whether or not he was a powerful wizard.
"Y'mean, like, 'you wouldn't like me when I'm angry'?" Kels said, stomping his feet for effect. Marcus was looking pretty serious, so a joke was in order.
Regardless of the reception of it, they would watch the game without any hitch. It seemed to Kels that despite what either of them looked like on the outside, they were completely capable of having a good time together. He rolled with the punches, even made jokes. He seemed like a okay dude. He felt bad that he had to watch his team get totally owned and obliterated by the lions, but not bad enough to prevent him from cheering on their defeat loudly. 'Twas the nature of sports.
At the finishing line, Kels hollered one last time in victory. It was the lucky shoes, for sure, they never failed. Marcus peeped up again, mentioning the vast number of students who were no doubt already being ushered to the wing as they spoke. It was a lot bigger of a head count than he was used to, Quidditch was getting really brutal these days! Standing up himself, he gave Marcus a big grin.
"Yap, fer sure!" Picking up his bag that he took with him everywhere, he gave a thumbs up. "Let's patch up those bird bones!"
He'd be sure to take advantage of all the nice company he could get, being with people was so much better than being alone. He'd talk his ear off as long as he tolerated listening to him, and maybe even a tad bit longer.
