A huge grin broke out on her fact at the fact that Adlai would at least try to convince the nurse to let a tiny little barn owl to keep the Gryffindor company for a while. Okay, perhaps he wasn't as small but he still made her stay here a whole lot better. "You'd do that? I'd be forever grateful." She wasn't sure just how Adlai planned to convince the nurse that allowing a live animal that probably was extremely determintal to the hospital wing's high expections of sanitation wsa a good idea but she would leave that for the girl to figure out. On the other hand, even if she didn't get to see her fluffy companion, the fact that he was still up and about and in good physical condition to deliver letters back and forth even if it was not her was a very relieving thought. Clearly, Flutter's silent prediction had come true and that was that bad things happened when you stuffed owls into cages. He had been hooting so much to drown anyone's ears out when the train car had de-railed, the chance of him even coming within five feet of the thing would be a miracle.

One of the house-elves who had been frolicking about taking care of logistcal needs of the wing such as making sure the patients drank the god-awful potions that they forced upon them suddenly drifted on over to them squeaking and muttering something about how that was enough chitter-chatter for one today. "Can't she stay a while longer? This is the first time I've seen a person that doesn't look like they came out of the underworld." Elena protested putting on her best pleading expression in an attempt to appeal to the elf's good-natured side. The response she got was a huff and impatient gestures to conlude this little diaglogue of theirs so that the brunette could be up and about sooner than later. The girl rolled her eyes as the creature darted away to attend to some other menial tasks turning her attention back to her favorite Hufflepuff friend deciding that no force in the world, whether it be a house-elf or Nurse Brumby himself could tell her when her little converstations with people she liked was up.

Still, it was probably wise to heed the directives given as her head sank back into her pillow which now had a nice deep crease in it as the girl shifted her pose. "Promise me you'll come back to visit." The girl said tilting her head though she already knew the answer. It was not like her friend to ever decline such a sentimental request and that made Elena feel more secure in the fact she was not alone in this. Despite all that had happened, all the agony and suffering and just general annoyances of the train ride here, she still had someone who would listen to her and once the Gryffindor was free of the shackles of the hospital wing, they could get back to doing whatever it was they did best. A frown crossed her face as she thought about something. "Don't reckon the password's for the Fat Lady's changed after the break." If it did, they usually gave it out at the first meal after the break, the one that she had missed and countless others. La mascotte would still have to do, any other place was better than here bound to her bed.

The rather quiet and calm nature of the wing was welcome though, more than she could ask for in her common room.

Adlai nodded once she was basically told visiting hours were over. She hadn't realized how much time had gone by, then again she was having fun seeing her friend again.
"Of course I'll comeback," Adlai said as she thought as to why she wouldn't come back to see Elena. Elena was her best friend, and she was in need of company and comfort which Adlai was more than willing to provide. "I might bring my homework with me though if you don't mind."

"If the password has changed I'm sure the head of your house will tell you what it is now, so I don't think that's something you should worry about right now. What you should be worrying about is getting better faster, I don't know how many more lunches I can take sitting alone." It was true, although Adlai knew plenty of people they had their own friend groups they sat with during meal times and she felt awkward suddenly coming up to them and asking if it was alright to join them, so she often cracked on an astrology book or one of the magazines her parents had sent her while she ate.

Although she was lonely at least she now knew where Elena was and thus she knew where and when she could attack her with unconditional platonic love and mind boggling homework and class assignment questions, that was one of the perks of having a friend who is an upperclassman.

Elena wasn't sure whether to laugh or not at the mention of homework butting into the serene space that the hospital wing provided but it was a good as of an excuse as any to get some decent work. After all, it wasn't like her professors could barge up here and drag her injured self out of bed into their classroom because for once in her life, Elena Jangleton had a valid excuse even if had been factors out of her control. "As long as it isn't anything to do with the gargoyle wars in History of Magic, Professor Zahid seems to enjoy ranting on about that way too much for my liking." Seriously, if the Gryffindor had a Galleon for every time he had brought up the word when they had been discussing the topic, she might have just scraped together enough to buy the whole of Gringotts if it was reasonably feasible and that was one thing she was not looking forward. More parchment and ink was wasted scribbling essays for History of Magic than any other class in her opinion.

Her head bobbed up and down in a solemn nod knowing all too well the feeling of being out of place. She didn't want to leave Adlai out there all by herself and that was she was making it her mission to get back on her two feet as quickly as possible. Sometimes, that meant taking things slow and easy but still, she felt perhaps a pang of guilt at Adlai's word. "Sorry." The girl replied meekly looking up at the Hufflepuff from her bed. "I promise it will only be a couple of days and than I'll be back in the Great Hall." Good as new, she was going to put this behind her because in truth as jarring and scary as the ride here had been, she was just thankful she was in one piece. Honestly, the girl had been surprised nothing else had happened like perhaps she had come out of it too unscathed. A suddeny thought crossed her head that what if Nurse Brumby was keeping some sort of scary, dark, foreboding diagnosis from her? Maybe he wasn't telling her because it would cause her to freak out or something?

Her brain was telling her to calm down and that to stop such silly thinking because if the Gryffindor was surely on death's door, she would be in a whole lot more of pain than just a searing headaches and the twinge of pain she felt when shifting her position every now and then. Finally, the house elf returned clearly irritated at the fact despite it's warning, the two girls were still chattering away and with furious gestures with it's grubby little hands began to direct the Hufflepuff towards the door much to the brunette's dissappointment. They really did not cut you any slack here as Elena attempted to call after her friend cupping her hands around her mouth. "You might wanna take some treats for Flutters if you're headed that way. I don't know when he was fed last but he can be a real grump if he hasn't been fed." She would know, the various times he had pecked her out of sheer irritation was evidence enough of that.

"Hey, Adlai?"

The words came as an afterthought as she tilited her head to look at her friend, a crystal clear smile appearing on her face . "Thanks for dropping by. It means a lot. Seriously."

Perhaps the first time anyone had fussed over her and in a way, it was sort of relieving.

Adlai smiled when Elena told her she'd be back eating meals with her in the Great Hall soon. "Don't push yourself, ok? I'd much rather you be feeling your best then not." She said, not understanding why Elena would apologize for what had happened to her. It wasn't her fault.

When the house elf returned Adlai realized she had certainly over stayed her welcome and began to frantically bow her head an apologize as she stood from where she once sat at Elena's side and began to shuffle her way towards the door. "I'll bring flutters something good to eat, don't worry!" she replied to Elena.

Once she had made it to the door Elena had called out to her once again, telling her how much she appreciated that Adlai had come to visit her. "That's are friends are for." She stated, her hand opening the oversized door of the Hospital Wing. "And I'll be back! You can count on it!" and with that she exited the room. She was glad Elena seemed to be doing well, though she still felt awful that she didn't know what had happened for quite some time. She hoped she could make up for it to Elena, for leaving her alone for so long, with future visits.
