A Little Bit Off Private with Jay Flame

William sat in the library, his Gryffindor robes weighing heavily on his shoulders. His face in a book about the different types of humanoid variants, including things like Werewolves and Dhampirs. Beside him on the table, there was a giant stack of books, all ones he planned to occupy his mind with. Today he was quite tired, both physically and mentally. He couldn't tell if it were because of tiredness, or something caused by someone else, but it didn't matter to him, he was just exhausted.

He theorized it was because he was doing more studying then anything else for his classes, but why else would he be at Hogwarts, to make friends? Even back at his old school that wasn't an objective for him, if it happened then it just happened, no real decision to it. Most of the time he did his best to avoids others, other then the occasional conversation with other students, usually ones that didn't end very well.

He pushed his brown hair out of his face tiredly, trying to focus on the details of the difference between a giant and a half-blood giant, but his brain completely shut him out. He groaned and nearly slammed his book shut, getting a few glares from the other students. He pulled off another book from his pile of them, a book on different spells and their uses in varies pranks.

Jay entered the library wearing his Hufflepuff robes, carrying himself around in a casual manner, as his eyes wandered around the many bookshelves, and carefully eying over the many students as he strode down the rows upon rows of shelves.

His chestnut brown hair, was pulled back a little, a balanced mix between messy and stylish. As he came upon a large pile of books on a table with a student behind him, he huffed in amusement. Aproaching the table in a calm manner before pulling out a chair, though sitting on it in reverse, so he could rest his arms on the backlean.

But not before pointing a finger to a random book from the pile "So I've heard this is a good read." he said Then leaning on the chair as he looked to his fellow student, a glimmer of curiosity displayed in his blue eyes.

It was very evident that Jay was a social person, who seemingly had no issue just approaching a person and so he had, in the most casual manner he could think of, now holding his silence to let the stranger speak. Not wanting to bombard the boy with words this early at least.

William looked over at the Hufflepuff boy, raising his eyebrow slightly. He wasn't use to being approached by random people, but maybe it would help with his mood to socialize. He inspected the boy, guessing that he was also a first year judging by the way he looked. The boy slightly reminded William of an old friend he had before he started going to Hogwarts, which made him feel a little more comfortable trying to socialize with him. He took note of the boy's more, outgoing personality, wondering what it took for that boy to develop that.

William used his right hand to slowly turn the book pile to see the book the Hufflepuff boy pointed at, saying, "Haven't read it yet so I wouldn't know." He grew a slightly interest in the book so he placed down the one he already had and took a couple off the top so he could pull out the one pointed at, placing it in his lap. He then turned to the boy and gave him the best smile he could, which was only a half one, and said, "Hey, I'm William. I'm a Gryffindor if the robes didn't give me out." He then extended out his right hand to the boy for a handshake, hoping that wouldn't make him nervous or anything.

Took more than a handshake to make Jay nervous. So he kidnly accepted the shake with his own right heand, standing up slightly in the chair to lean over the table to reach with ease. "I'm Jay...Hufflepuff." He said in a calm and polite tone of voice before sitting back down again.

Having noticed how the other boy had marked the book for curiosity he felt he had to be honest for a moment there "I've actually never read it, just used it as an ice breaker."Shrugging mildly with his words. before settling down into the chair getting comfortable.

He eyed over the stack of books on the table once more before letting out an amused huff. "So what you studying there? By the looks of it, everything." he said having found a mild curiosity in this display of extreme studies.

William nodded once as they shook hands, doing the exact thing his father taught him how to do. He chuckled a little to himself as Jay admitted to not actually reading the book, but only using it as an icebreaker subject. "That's fair enough," William said to him in reply, and it was. Honestly William was slightly inspired by the way Jay used something as simple as a book as an ice breaker, perhaps using environment as a way to begin conversation wasn't too bad of an idea.

He shook his head at Jay's question, saying in reply, "Half studying, half just trying something to do. As my mother always told me, if you're going to be bored you might as well do something productive." He felt a slight tug at his heart as he quoted his mother, it had been too long since he had spoken to her, but what could he do about that? He could of course try to owl her, but he doubted she would understand what to do with that.

He shook his head a little to refocus on the Hufflepuff boy in front of him, asking, "So how are things for Hufflepuff's around here? I've noticed there are a lot of..expectations I guess I could say, about us Gryffindors. Something about being courageous? Yeah, I haven't really understood it myself. And I heard some of the others around here talking about Slytherins like they're some sort of jerks, but I met one and she didn't seem too bad." He had no idea why he had begun to talk a lot like he did, but it actually felt refreshing. Like a burden had be pulled off his shoulders.

Gave a subtle blink as the boy started to talk like a waterfall. But not objecting it seemed. He just listened as he turned the chair around to sit on it normally then placing his elbows on the table.
Not having the same issues as the Gryffindor boy, but somewhat relateable in some cases.

Once William was done talking he huffed a little agian in amusement. "Well nobody said it would be easy, but so far I enjoy the Hufflepuff's. Nice people and so on." he took a quick pause to draw a deep breath.

"I'm still learning about the various houses and what they stand for. But I know that Slytherin can be jerks. But I think it best to go on a person to person case, and not judge them too soon. I've seen a few Slytherin who was nice."

He responded politely, as he idly pushed some books to the side looking over the title of the many books in the pile as he talked. Then setting his eyes on William before changing the topic completely. "The food here is amazing." Just another random topic.

William thought back to the first Hufflepuff he had part of a conversation with, and 'nice', wasn't the first word that came to mind. He nodded once as Jay said it was probably a person to person case; he wasn't nearly as strangely emotional as the last Hufflepuff he had made contact with. "Yeah the whole houses thing..still confuses me. But yeah there's been some nice Slytherin's, I think the one I met was named Opelia, or something like that."

He nodded again at Jay's mention of the food, that was one thing he definitely couldn't complain about. He knew it was magic and all, but they knew how to make one heck of a selection. The Gryffindor table always had some of the best food on it, depending on the time of meal of course. Breakfast wasn't near as good as dinner. "Yeah, I can definitely agree with that. Especially for the feast at the start of the year, that had a lot of good food. There was this one girl beside me that had a plate that was just stacked, like she had no care in the world whether or not her food was touching." He laughed a little to himself out loud at the memory.

Laughed a little at the imagage of a plate full of food shaking his head a little in amusement. "Yea...That first night's feast I swear It would have been easier to roll me to the dorm, than walking." His tone displayed a good mood.

He picked up a random book and flipped through it as he continued to talk. "Can't say I've met anyone by that name. In fact barely had the time to stop and talk to people, there is so much to see in this place. Every day is a new experience." He placed the book back down again and moved to the next one to flip through.

"What of you William, enjoying your adventure here so far...And can I ask where are you from?" he asked the young Gryfindor student, as he put the book down again and looked at him.

William chuckled at Jay's reaction, answering with, "I can't say I ate that much myself, but I know I gained a couple of ounces after that day." Jay's mood was actually quite refreshing compared to what William was use to. Most of his interaction with other students was either uptight, or angry people. Of course, the girl he had mentioned before, wasn't exactly angry, just seemed easily irritated, but then again, he wasn't there for the entire situation.

He watched Jay pick up a book with his eyebrow raised, slightly curious which one he had randomly gotten. He was even more curious of the daily experience the boy claimed, I mean if he meant learning then he would not be wrong, but for some reason, he didn't think that was it.

He shook his head as the Hufflepuff asked him if he was enjoying his adventure. He didn't consider Hogwarts much of an adventure, just another chapter in his life, whether or not that could be consider the same thing, he didn't know. "I don't really know what you mean by adventure, but I am from Manchester, you?" He asked the boy, speaking with a clear voice that would seem slightly older then his age. That was another thing he had learned from his father; how to make himself sound older and mature.
A Little Bit Off Private with Jay Flame
Grinned in response to William. "A couple of ounces huh." he said beaming a smile as he put the book back down, just a random book on herbology. Nothing about Jay indicated he was angry or easily irritated in fact just very calm and happy boy.

"You know...This place, is an adventure on it's own no? At least to me it is. And I plan on taking full advantage of it and explore everything it has to offer." Jay said in a still calm and somewhat excited tone of voice.

"Manchester huh...I'm from east London myself, decent place. I bet you're a Manchester fan huh?" He inquired as he leaned forward a little eyeing the boy up and down again as to confirm his own guess.
