@Lucia FoxCharles would give Cassie a smile before kneeling back on the ground next to his cousin, the thirteen year old truly cared for his younger cousin which is something that couldn't have been said for everyone.
Charles at most times have learned to wear two masks at a sense, one was the mask that his family created and expected him to act at all times while the other is the one that he wears when in a group of people or at school. It's a mask that makes him appear as a loud, boisterous, flirty idiot at times but it also hides away the parts of Charles that he was taught to hide away. It hides away all that he feels uncomfortable or odd with, it hides away his true self.
However his true self does reveal itself at times like when he's with Cassie or his younger cousin; Leo or Iris or even Katherine so there are times that it comes out just not to everyone.
Leo would clutch his book quite tightly to his chest as barely looking at Cassie with fear clearly lingering in his eyes while Charles comfortably placed his hand on Leo's knee before looking at Cassie as she spoke.
The blonde would smile a bit before replying" alright then the jumper is spectacular, happy now Cass?" Before laughing a bit and continuing to listen to the girl speak and point out certain topics.
"Your not utterly tone deaf, your voice is one that just needs practice," Charles spoke offering a smile to Cassie finding that this wad the most fun he had all day before looking over at Leo as he spoke a bit softer" your a good singer Leo, what do you thunk about Cass's voice? There's room for improvement right?" Leo however just nodded a bit still aiming his eyes filled with fear down and clutching his book to his chest while Charles offered him a smile and lightly but comforting rubbed the boy's knee.
"Santa's reindeer have names? I didn't know that but yes we do who Santa is, myth known to muggles that brings presents to children by the chimney and doesn't he have a strange obsession with cookies?" Charles spoke with a smile and a playful tone before eyeing his younger cousin and keeping one hand on Leo's knee and with the other pushing a few strands of hair from his face for a moment before speaking" although we never got the chance to celebrate him or anything, gifts are given out differently in our family."
Charles then would look back at Cassie and give her a smile before nodding to the cakes as she open them and picked up the one with the most frosting, listening to her comment before speaking as a joke" is that enough frosting for you Cass or will you he taking some from the others," as Charles let his cousin choose first but Leo remained where he was.
So Charles would take out the one marble cake and hand it to Leo as he spoke[color=#80cente" half chocolate and half vanilla, so you don't need to decide Leo,"[/color] Leo would slowly place his book in his lap and slowly take the cake from Charles as he mouth 'thanks' before staring at the cake.
Charles took a chocolate cake and playful bit the top off in a predator like manner hoping to get a laugh from the others, in which Leo gave a slight smile before it faded away.
"These are amazing Cassie, your truly an amazing baker," Charles would speak placing his hand back in Leo's knee as Leo took a small bite of his before whispering" Thanks Cassie."

A Christmas To Remember
Cassie grinned when Charles decided that the jumper was, after all, spectacular. "I am indeed," she said with a joking little bow before moving on to number two on her list: her own voice.
She snorted as Charles said that her voice just needed practise. "You know," Cassie told the two Alluring boys, "That's almost exactly what the teacher who did choir at primary told me." She smirked. "I quit choir two weeks later. To be honest, I only stuck at it at all 'cos one of my friends was in it. Singing's not really my thing." However, it did appear to be Leo's thing, and Charles asked his younger cousin how Cassie's voice was, but Leo just nodded in agreement that there was room for improvement. Cassie tried not to get frustrated. She'd always found quiet, shy people annoying. They were... hard for her to understand. Well, she'd try be friends with Leo for Charlie's sake, she decided and instead just moved on to number three.
Cassie's mouth almost fell open at the revelation of how little Charles knew about Santa. "Mince pies actually, but of course the reindeer have names!" she gasped. "Lemme think - there's Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer and Vixen, and there's, um, Comet, and Cupid, and... I always forget the last two. And there's Rudolph of course, he's the one with the red nose." She shook her head in exaggerated disappointment. "You poor kid," Cassie told Leo mournfully. "You've missed out on one of the best bits of childhood, and you're, what, nine? Ten?"
Cassie stuck her tongue out at Charles when he made a joke about her frosting-covered cake, letting the action speak for itself. She ate her cake in just three bites as Charles took out the marble cake for Leo and handed it to his younger cousin. Then Charles bit the top off his cake rather like Cassie had done, and the girl laughed. "You look like a dinosaur or something," she told him with a grin. "One of the meat-eater ones, all predatory."
The Beauxbatons student noticed that Leo didn't try his cake, but didn't have time to comment on it because Charles spoke first. Cassie gave a joking little half-bow, not standing up from where she'd plonked herself on the floor. "You're very much welcome, though Papa did most of it," she admitted. "He's a real baker. We get discounts and stuff they can't sell off the bakery he works at, it's cool." Then she pointed at Leo's cupcake. "Hey, you gonna eat that?" she asked, not unkindly. "You know, Papa used to tell me that the marbled cupcakes'd give you magic powers for the rest of the day if you ate them in three bites." She grinned, the irony of it not lost on her. As it had turned out, Cassie had always had magic anyway, marbled cupcakes or not. "Go on. You never know," she told Leo jokingly.

Charles playful smiled a bit at Cassie's reply about being happy or the Juniper being spectator. Before the girl started talking about her voice and joining the choir with friends in which Charles smiled a little as he spoke" right because causing mischief and creating chaos is your thing," Charles playfully smiled at the girl before continuing" I'm not into singing either but before Durmstrang, my grandmother made us take lessons in voice but luckily we don't have to take it anymore besides from Leo." The blonde rubbed his younger cousin's shoulder a bit before resting hand back on his knee.
Charles turned back toward Cassie as the girl started saying the reindeers names and that Santa was obsessed with mince pies. The blonde was quite interested with what the girl was saying probably because he never really has a chance to do those things in his family, everything was based on tradition or learning to become 'proper' or whatever to bring honour to their family. Which is something Charles already failed at apparently and didn't really mind if he followed all the rules now probably why he dedicated his time to broom racing and quidditch instead of studying or that he made a point to have friends in different schools instead of Durmstrang or inviting a muggleborn to his family's Christmas eve tea... however inviting Cassie had nothing or close to nothing to do with his family. The teen enjoyed her company and considered her a friend and a close one at that which is saying something for the boy which those are the reasons behind why he invited her.
"He's Nine, turning ten next year and will be able to see if he's going to Durmstrang or Hogwarts," Charles replied to the girl about his younger cousin's age and secretly hoped that he will be attending Hogwarts since Dumstrang will probably break him. The blonde glanced over at his younger cousin who was rather hesitantly licking the festering off his fingers before eating small bites off of the cake in a slow manner.
"And are family just isn't about that stuff but we still have fun, right Leo," Charles spoke looking over at his younger cousin who just slightly smile as Charles continued" like the gift exchange, every Christmas eve we exchange gifts with someone and that is fun I guess," it was fun for everyone else except Charles he found a new tradition in skipping those things when we could or keeping to himself as to not upset his family since apparently it was rather easy to upset them even if he wasn't trying to.
Charles finished his cake in around 3 or a but more bites before laughing slightly at Cassie's comment and replying" well a predatory dinosaur does rather fit me while-" the blonde eyed the girl before continuing" a phoenix or fire crab fits you, all chaos surrounded by a blaze," grinning a bit until Cassie rose a question toward Leo who merely nodded toward the girl and took a final large bite of his cake before swallowing it completely and saying softly, "T...Thank you Cassie, that was very good."
Charles smiled at his younger cousin before rubbing the back of his head a little as he spoke" I told you that you would like it, Cass may not be able to sing but she's a great baker," giving the girl a smile before turning back to his younger cousin who picked up his book again and seemed to have been getting more comfortable as he spoke" what other Christmas
traditions do you have Cassie? Maybe I could tell you some of ours and show you the tree we have? It's so beautiful and peaceful with all the lights and ornaments, but it's in one of the back rooms so you won't see it from the entrance sadly. "
Charles was glad to see his younger cousin was getting more comfortable around the girl and that they were getting along, the blonde stood up as he spoke" why don't we go look now then Cass you can drop you items off in my room before tea?"
Leo jumped off his seating area to and nodded multiple times as a child like personal took over the small boy as he spoke"Okay! Do you like quidditch Cassie? Maybe we can play a bit after tea? Can you sit next to me during tea Cassie? Can we go to the tree now? I think the house elf's are touching it up now." The young boy looked between the girl and his blond hair cousin with a large child grin on his gave as he held onto his book whole Charles replied" sure, let's go now Leo. Cass?" Charles asked the girl to make sure sue was okay with the plans before anything else.
However the plans would change when a slim avenge height black haired boy entered the library with a dull but annoyed look on his face wearing a dark blue suit with black dress shoes.
The boy was Colin Alluring and may have been only twelve but seemed to have a odd flair around him as he strolled up the group glancing over Cassie once before ignoring her as he spoke" Andrew was right, the misfits are all in the library eating something that doesn't appear to be edible," his voice ringing smoothly through the air with a higher pitch than most expected from the boy and he referred to the cakes.
"What do you want, Colin," Charles asked as Leo moved closer to the blonde allowing Charles to wrap his arm around him whole Colin smirk a little before speaking" mother asked me to come get Leo, apparently she wants to talk to us both. Why she would care to talk to him, I don't have the slightest clue since he's as pathetic as you cousin." Charles gripped his younger cousin shoulder tighter and closer to him as he responded toward Colin, " I'll watch your words, Colin since no one would care if I punch you. Your not destined to be the next head, apparently your nothing to the rest same as me."
Charles watch as Colin's face seem to grow red as he nearly rose his voice when he spoke" I am nothing like you! Your a disgrace and pathetic! Even grandfather agrees, now I rather not speak to you and only came for my little brother. Leo come on, mother is waiting for us," Leo would look up at Charles with puppy dog eyes and would mouth to him "please let me stay" but Charles would give his younger cousin a hug instead as he spoke" I'll see you at tea, alright Leo."
Leo would look over at Cassie and give a small smile as he wave toward her before hesitantly leaving the library with Colin. When both would leave, Charles would turn back toward Cassie as he spoke" I apology about Colin, he can be rather insufferable and obnoxious to. This probably turned out to be a horrible night, I'm sorry Cass. I really did want this to be better for you."
The teen felt awful that everything was getting ruin because of his family. He really did want his friend to have a good time that night but figured he just ruined it for her.
" Shall we go to my room then so you can put your stuff down? Since dinner should be starting soon," the blonde asked and when he wild received a response he would walk out of the library and through the halls making sure that Cassie was besides him at all times.
After a while, when they would start to climb the first set of stairs the blonde would speak" it isn't far now," before giving the girl a light smile as he spoke" and those cakes were really delicious Cass." The blonde then climbed the stairs and walk through the end of the hall before coming to a single door painted dark brown position on the end of the hall as the last door.
Charles would open the door as he spoke" this is my room, sorry about the mess but go ahead and laugh. I won't mind," Charles would hold the door open for the girl before he would go in after her.
The room seemed rather odd for a teenager, everything seemed clean at a sense. The walls were painted white and instead a white or black ceiling, the ceiling was a light brown with a bed that laid in the center. The bed frame was brown leather with sheets and pillow cases designs of the Ballycastle Bats quidditch team logo with a single red pillow also on his bed with the word quidditch. Two white painted nightstands sat on either side of his bed, one has a lamp that had the base of a quaffle and a water glass on it while the other had a single picture of him and his family, he looked around 4 in the picture with three magazines about quidditch in front of it.
Behind his bed, on the wall actually on all four walls were covered with quidditch posters for the wigtown wanders and ballycastle Bats quidditch team so much so that only bit and pieces of the original paint could be seen. A odd and sort of fancy light arrangement hang from the center of the ceiling and to the side opposite of the door held a large window with a bench to look out. The pillows on the bench again showed the logo of the two quidditch teams that he appeared to be a fan of, with a dresser next to it and near the bed. And there was a quidditch schedule on one of the doors of the blue wooden dresser as well as a few other slips of paper, some were signed photos from players and others told when tryouts were for the Dumstrang team.
On the other side of the room, to the left of the door stood a single shelf in a dark blue color that held different quidditch related items and other smaller items including a few books with a banner of the ballycastle bats in front of the shelf keeping something wrapped up. To the right of the door say another blue slightly smaller dress again a few quidditch posters for the two teams were stuck to the sides with a small round mirror sitting onto it with a comb and a bottom of hair gel and black hair dye.
Right in front of his bed was his Dumstrang trunk with the school logo starched out and a black duffle bag on top of it. Then opposite of his bed sat a desk in dark blue with a leather chair. There was a single lamp and a few posters on the wall above it for the two quidditch teams again, then there were a few pens, pencils, quills, parchment, and a jar of ink scatter around the desk with a few letters from Cassie and a couple ones sitting on the desk as well.

I forgot to include the actual post at first! xDCassie shrugged with a grin when Charles clarified that, while singing wasn't her thing, 'causing mischief and creating chaos' was. "No comment," Cassie said, then added, "True though." Charles then told her that he wasn't into singing either, which made sense. "My grandad wants me to learn the violin. I keep telling him there's no way for me to get lessons, but he used to play it when he was my age so he really wants me to learn too. My nana and my mum play the guitar, and that's quite cool, but I dunno. I feel like I'd get bored just sitting there."
"Or Beauxbatons!" Cassie jumped in when Charles told her that Leo would be going to either Durmstrang or Hogwarts. "Beauxbatons is totally the best wizarding school. I mean, Hogwarts is cool, but does it even have a broomracing team? A proper one, I mean. I think not! Though I dunno if Beauxbatons actually accepts people from the UK."
Charles mentioned a 'gift exchange', at which Cassie grinned. "Like a Secret Santa?" she asked. "We did that in primary school in Godric's Hollow once. I got a box of sweets, I think. Ooh, we should have done one! We could've gotten a group together! Ah well, we'll have to do one next year."
Cassie smirked at Charles' decision that she should be a phoenix or fire crab. "I mean, I've got no idea what a fire crab is," she admitted, imagining a crab being set on fire- no! A crab being able to shoot fire out of its pincers. A giant crab being able to shoot fire out of its pincers. "But it sounds cool. I'll take it! Please tell me they can, like, breathe fire or something." Leo spoke up of his own accord for once, and Cassie showed her surprise with a dramatically fake gasp. "He speaks!" she joked. "You're welcome."
"Aw, thanks!" Cassie grinned at Charles' compliment. "My papa made the recipe," she told Leo proudly. "It's one of his specialities now, 'cos of the vanilla. I came up with the Christmas trees though."
Then Leo launched into the longest speech Cassie had heard him say so far, causing the girl to give him a big smile. "Sure! I love Christmas trees. My family do this joint Christmas tree thing, where everyone makes a bauble. Nana and Grandad always host it, 'cos they have the biggest living room except Uncle August and Auntie Amber, and we don't trust them with it 'cos Rufus - oh, he's one of my cousins, he's eight - would try knock it over or something." She grinned to herself. "Everyone makes a bauble, right, and then everyone in England goes over to Nana and Grandad's and hangs theirs up, and everyone in France goes to grandmére's and grandpére's, and we join in via video call, so Nana hangs ours up for us. Then we all have Christmas lunch and we open presents afterwards." Cassie smiled, remembering previous Christmasses and looking forward to the one in two days' time. She knew she was lucky to have such a great family, and loved spending time with them, even if she couldn't in person. Even if her grandmére and grandpére often needed her or her parents to explain something in English they didn't understand, it was still wonderful when the whole family got together.
Charles suggested that they all go and look at the tree before Cassie dropped her stuff off in his room, and the Beauxbatons girl nodded in agreement. "Sounds good." She stood up and slung her bag over her back, her coat over one arm, and her cake tin under one elbow.
Now Charles was grinning too as Leo seemed to become a completely different person. Cassie laughed as he fired off a million questions a minute - now here was someone she could get along with more easily. Charles checked that Cassie was ok with all that his younger cousin was suggesting, and in response Cassie flung her coat on the floor and gave her friend a salute. "SIR, YESSIR!" she barked, then bent down, laughing and nearly dropping her cake tin on the floor. "Just let me pick up my coat first!"
Then she heard footsteps and stood up again, coat in hand this time, to see yet another suit-clad, dark-haired boy. Poor kid. But the moment he opened his mouth, Cassie decided to hate him with a passion. "Oh, really?" she responded, even though he wasn't talking to her. Her voice was icy cold. "Charles was right. The loners are wandering around by themselves, hoping their heads will inflate even more so they can fly off to the moon." She scowled at him. "Pity you can't; we might finally get some peace. Also a pity these cakes aren't poisoned, or we could force-feed them to you." She gave him a glare which threatened to disembowel him with a jerk of her head.
Charles was the peacemaker, as he appeared to be in this family. Funny, since he was anything but the peacemaker everywhere else. Cassie got bored of standing up and sat on a table swinging her legs as she listened to the exchange between this newcomer and Charles. She snorted in disgust as the boy called Charles and Leo pathetic, and balled her fists next to her when he decided that her friend was a disgrace, glaring at him as though he was the cause of all the world's problems. She longed to just get up and throw something at him - maybe a really really heavy book - but it had been drummed into her ever since she'd first gone to a playdate as a toddler: you don't start fights in other people's homes. Cassie Heather may have always been a bit 'wild', but she at least had a basic grasp of general politeness. Leo waved to the girl as he left and Cassie forced herself to wave back. "Bye, Leo."
Charles couldn't stop the apologies. "Don't you worry about it," Cassie growled, kicking a bookcase. "It's not your fault you have several piles of sugary beep as a family." Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin didn't swear, but that didn't mean she didn't sometimes want to. "Anyone who calls you pathetic is an idiotiotic bleephead with the mind of a toddler who doesn't deserve you in their lives. You may be many things, Charles Alluring, but you're not pathetic, or a disgrace either." The anger in her eyes was clear to see.
Cassie just nodded at Charles' suggestion that they go to put her stuff down in his room and followed him through the obnoxiously large house. She smiled at the compliment as they began to climb the first set of stairs. "This is one huge house," she told him. "I swear, it's gotta be like a frickin' mansion or something outside."
When they reached Charles' room, the Durmstrang boy held the door open for his guest. Instead, Cassie elbowed the boy in with a laugh and entered the room after him. "Don't want me running into any booby traps; you can go first," she joked.
The room wasn't nearly as messy as Charles had implied it was, which made sense to Cassie. Although the image the boy projected sometimes would suggest that his room would be utter chaos, the real Charles was a little more organised. Dumping her stuff on the floor, Cassie turned around in a circle, taking everything in. "You really like Quidditch, huh," she teased. "Hey, who would you support if Wigtown Wanderers and Ballycastle Bats went against each other?" This was very important information.
The only really messy area was Charles' desk. Cassie stepped towards it, noticing that there were a few letters from her scattered across its surface. Quickly, she piled them up and placed them to one side, moving over the ink jar and placing the pens, pencils and quills in a pen pot. "There you go; you can actually see the desk now."

"Uh?" Charles asked as he sat down on the bed, watching Cassie before remembering her question as be spoke" probably the wigtown wanders, I saw them play first and been a fan of them first," the blonde teen would love to play for the Wigtown Wanders but the team was a all girl one so he was stuck being a fan only.
Charles shook his head a bit as he chuckled a little watching Cassie organize his desk then her response causing him to reply" thank you although I can't promise it will stay organized later," the blonde smiled over at Cassie and even through their meetings with his elder brother then cousins didn't give that well he still wanted to comment on them.
"That was rather cool how you responded to Colin and Andrew, using words against them," Charles spoke with smile toward the girl who he definitely admired among all others as he stood from his bed before continuing" your comments toward them was incredible, your rather amazing yourself you know Cass," the teen smiled over at Cassie, the boy was glad that she was there and that he could spend that day with her.
Charlie's checked the watch on his right wrist before walking toward the door as he spoke" I'm glad Leo likes you, it's hard for him to meet or make friends," the blonde opened the door to his room, looking out it to check to make sure no one was there as he turned to Cassie and spoke" we should go, the meal will start soon," the blonde then smiled a little at the girl as he spoke" there's someone I want you to meet first."
"Ruddy!" Charles spoke in a loud, polite manner and after a moment a Sam house elf appeared in the middle of him a s Cassie. The blonde smiled at the house elf as he spoke" hello Ruddy, how are you?" The house elf turned to look at Charles as he spoke" rather good today, Charlie with the added workload and punishment with failure," the blonde nodded to the little house elf as he looked up toward Cassie and spoke" Ruddy, this is Cassie a close friend of mine."
Ruddy would run over to Cassie, bowing his head low with his hands over his small chest as he spoke" a pleasure to meet you, Miss Cassie," the house elf took a few steps back, still his head bowed a little as Charles spoke" Cass, this is Ruddy my favorite house elf who helped raise me." Charles smiled a little at the house elf still bowing his head at Cassie as he spoke" you don't have to do that Ruddy and you can take a break in my room if you like?" The house elf jumped a little, around two feet in the air as he turned to face Charles and squeaked out, " apologies Charlie and I can't rest! I must get back to work or someone will be punished!"
The house elf disappeared from the area, Charles looked down at the spot where he was before up at Cassie as he spoke" he's the only one who calls me Charlie and is the nicest to me," the blonde waited a moment dreading what might happened once they go down there but opened up the door stepped outside in the hall before looking back at Cassie as he spoke" Shall we?"
So Sorry for the longggg wait!!

"Wigtown Wanderers..." Cassie mused. "I don't know all that many British teams. The French national team is so good though. I really want to go to one of their matches one day, but you know international games, right? So expensive, and they sell out so quickly too." Also, Cassie's parents were a little confused by the idea of Quidditch. Also, they were muggles, and Cassie had no idea whether muggles were even allowed to get tickets to Quidditch games. It'd be a bit stupid if they weren't, but from what Cassie knew of the wizarding community's relations with muggles she wouldn't be surprised.
Cassie laughed. When people met her, they often thought that Cassie would be terrible at keeping track of things, but she wasn't like Scarlett. Cassie was a organiser, not that people really noticed, but when there was a quick fix to something she liked to do that quick fix. Like pushing a bunch of letters into a pile.
When Charles mentioned her attitude towards his brother and cousin, Cassie laughed again. "It's called insulting, my young apprentice," she smirked. "With a dose of sarcasm, to really keep people on their toes. I've had plenty of practise with the idiots at my school." Ah yes, Beauxbatons: home to the rich, privileged, and prejudiced. Ooh, forget the 'Three Ps', Cassie decided,It's four now. Pretty, Posh, Pureblood, Privileged, Predudiced. Oh wait, that's five.
Apparently, Leo found it hard to make friends. "I'm not surprised," Cassie admitted. "He's just so shy!"
Then Charles said that there was someone he wanted Cassie to meet, so she grabbed her tin of cupcakes and made her way towards the door. But Charles didn't move - he just said a name. "Look, Charlie, you do realise there's nobod- OH MY GOODNESS!" There was a CRACK and a small creature appeared from mid air right in front of Cassie, who jumped backwards, dropping the tin, and crashed into Charles' bed. "Ow ow ow ow," she yelped, sinking onto the mattress and staring at the creature. It was small, about knee-height, and had pointy ears, and it definitely didn't look human. Apparently it could speak, though, and it had a name, meaning that it was more likely to be a he rather than an it, but Cassie barely registered his words as he spoke to Charlie.
When Charles introduced her, the creature came over to her and bent at the waist. "Are you bowing? Please don't bow." Cassie squinted at him, heart probably running at twice its normal speed after the shock of the creature's appearance. "Oh my gosh. Are you an... elf?" Charles confirmed this and left Cassie open-mouthed. "Elves exist? Since when?!" You might think that, after about two years of knowing and learning about the wizarding world, Cassie would no longer be surprised at new discoveries - but you'd be wrong. She watched in amazement as the elf disappeared again, after saying something about work. Maybe he was a kind of servant? Of course Charles' family was posh enough to have servants. Cassie's family, which was very down-to-earth on the whole, mostly thought that the idea of servants was just lazy.
Charles seemed a little hesitant to leave the room, but Cassie barely picked up on it. "Okay, okay. Just gimme a second." Cassie took a few deep breaths and rubbed her rosary beads a little, then stood up and picked up the tin of cupcakes from where it had fallen. She peered inside anxiously. "Oh good," she sighed in relief, then held out the tin for Charles to see. "They're a little battered but fine really. Can I give them to your mum?" Cassie wanted to avoid Charles' dad for as long as possible. She hadn't gotten a great impression of him the first time they'd met, and Cassie fervently hoped he'd forgotten what she looked like.

Charles nodded toward Cassie's comment about quidditch, the boy chose not to make a comment which was odd since usually the blonde's favorite topic was quidditch. He could talk about it for hours at a time but that night Charles seemed to be distracted and his mind occupied by something else perhaps relating to that night.
The topic of quidditch changed and Charles heard Cassie speak about insulting and how she had plantly of practice at her school cracking a grin at the girl, imagining Cassie insulting a beauxbaton pureblood would be a sight to see. Usually Charles dealt with people at Dumstrang in a more physical way, that involves punching or throwing something at them but sometimes it involved different ways also like how he loved to mess with two specific Dumstrangs.
However the blonde Lee the conversation pass, looking at the door and back at Cassie as he was still distracted and having a bad feeling about the night ahead. Charles told his father he was inviting a friend but his father passed him off and now had to keep Cassie's blood status a secret from his family while keeping that fact a secret from Cassie... afraid what both sides would do if they found out the latter.
"He's shy but also isn't allow to leave the house or make friends resulting it him reading or doing lessons," Charles replied to Cassie about his younger as he made his way toward the door, opening it and looking out before looking back at Cassie. The blonde cared for his younger cousin above most in his family and if it wasn't for Leo then he would have left his family and manor already.
Charles expected a reaction from Cassie once she saw Ruddy not remembering is beauxbaton had house elfs however the blonde would rush forward when he noticed that she dropped the cake tin and quickly asked" are you alright, Cass?" The blonde was concerned deeply for his friend as he watched Cassie carefully to see if she was injured or fine. Charles didn't say much while Cassie interacted with Ruddy, or wasn't until the elf left that the blonde spoke" Elfs do exist, Ruddy is a house elf and house elf's are creatures that are born to serve wizarding family they can only be freed if their masters or family give them a piece of clothing. Ruddy is kind to me and helped raised me, I tried to give him clothing and free him many times but he keeps refusing them, " something Charles never understood, why the house elf would choose to stay there since Charles would leave the first chance he got if it wasn't for Leo. Maybe Charles did understand the Ruddy's reasoning...
Charles waited for Cassie to get herself in order, considered asking for her to put her coat on to cover up the jumper so she didn't stand out that night but instead choose not to say anything so he didn't upset his friend. Charles peeked inside the tin, looking at the cakes and listening to Cassie's words worried what his family's reaction would be to the cakes.
" Sure," Charles replied thinking his mother would be in the kitchens which mean extra time to keep Cassie away from his father and grandfather. Charles took a breath and walk outside of his room, holding the door open for Cassie als once the girl would leave the room he would close the door.
"This way," Charles spoke as he led the way down the hall to the left then down a flight of stairs to the ground floor then the right past the dining room and another right into the kitchens.
The kitchens looked like a old fashion muggle kitchen, the stove contained numerous pots bubbling with water and the countertops filled with a variety of dishes both hot and cold that one would find on Christmas morning. Some little creatures; House elfs around eight of them was running around the area and getting the food ready for later that night.
"You can set the cakes on one of the tables if you like, Cass," Charles spoke turning his eyes from Cassie to a female, only around two inches or so taller than Charles with bright blonde hair running down her shoulder blades paired with a set of bright blue eyes wearing a long sliver dress.
The women was looking over the house elf's work at the contents bubbling in the pots when Charles approached her, standing tall with his arms by his sides as he softly spoke "mother," the female turned from watching the elf's prepare the meal and her eyes landed on her youngest son as he spoke "Charles, shouldn't be in the dining room?" Charles gave his mother a small smile as he felt her place a hand on his right shoulder and smooth out his hair for a moment.
Charles smiled at his mother as he looked over toward Cassie and spoke" I thought I would introduce you to someone, mum. This is Cassie, one of my friends I told you about, Charles took a step back, feeling his mother leave her hand on his right shoulder as he watch her approach Cassie and hold out her hand speaking" a pleasure to meet you, Cassie. I heard some words about you from Charles during the holidays, I'm Jessica, his mother."

A Christmas To Remember
Cassie gaped at Charles' mention that Leo wasn't allowed to leave the house. "He what?!" The surprise was right there on her face, clear as daylight. "How does he, like, go to school?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," Cassie reassured her friend when he asked if she was okay. Apparently Ruddy was what was known as a house elf. Essentially, a magic slave who... didn't mind being a slave? "That's slavery," Cassie said, blunt as always. "Which is illegal. So, even without the ethical aspects, it's wrong." But, he wanted to stay a house elf? "It's wrong," she repeated, with no idea what else to say.
When they entered the kitchen, which looked like something out of an old-timey classics film, Cassie noticed that there were about eight house elves running around but forced herself not to look at them. House elf rights were something she'd have to put on her list of 'things to debate when I get famous'. After following Charles' instructions regarding the cake tin, Cassie settled her gaze on a woman, a little taller than Charles, with the same blonde hair, wearing a fancy dress which Cassie guessed counted as 'semi-formal'. After prompting, she introduced herself to Cassie as Jessica, Charles' mum. Cassie shook her hand, beaming. "Hi Jessica! Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin. I have two first names and two last names; you can just call me Cassie." The final two sentences were said at breakneck speed as Cassie reeled off her little this-is-my-name speech. "Your house is so cool! But it's huge. How do you find your way around?!"

"He has his lessons at the manor, we all did," Charles explained the situation of his younger cousin to Cassie. The blonde didn't see the situation as strange, it was the same one that he lived before Dumstrang so to him it seemed normal.
Charles nodded toward the girl, ensuring that she is fine before listening to her comments on house elves. Parts didn't make sense to him as he spoke"it isn't illegal, almost every wizarding family owes a house elf. I heard Hogwarts uses them in their kitchens," the blonde decided not to comment further figuring that he will explain to Cassie later maybe even let Ruddy explain for him.
Entering the kitchen, Charles showed Cassie the path. Careful not to step in the way of the house elfs at their work. Apporching his mother, Charles held his posture a bit better at the touch of his mother's hand on his shoulder.
Jessica listened to the girl, smiling a bit to forced as she spoke"a pleasure, Cassie," a small laugh from the lady at the mention of the manor as he spoke"we mange," then spotting the tin in the girl's hands, " what is in the tin?" Jessica left the side of her son ans approached Cassie. After she would show or tell Jessica what is inside, the lady would take the tin from Cassie as she spoke"I'll hold this and add them to the dessert for you, my dear," a nod toward Cassie before turning toward Charles as she spoke"I suggest you two run along to dinner, it should be starting and you don't want to be late again, Charles."
"Yes, mother," Charles spoke then watched as his mother walked across the room. Walking close to Cassie, the blonde whispered"don't mention your blood status alright?" Then allowed his eyes to flicker to the door leading to the dining room.
"Ready, Cass?"

A Christmas To Remember
Apparently, Leo was homeschooled, just like Charles had been. "Huh." There was nothing hugely unusual in that, Cassie figured - a lot of her wizarding friends had been homeschooled, presumably so they didn't blow up a school in front of all the Muggles or something - but she still found it a bit weird that Leo hadn't had any chance to make friends outside of his family.
Also apparently, having house elves wasn't illegal. This fact alarmed Cassie. "There's something really wrong with the wizarding world," she grumbled. "House elf slavery. Blood purity. Armorentia." Oh, there was so much more. It frustrated Cassie how little she could do about it.
Cassie grinned when given the opportunity to show off the cakes she'd brought, and happily pulled open the lid. "Cupcakes!" she exclaimed proudly. "Me and my papa made them. He's a baker. Half of them are chocolate, and half of them are vanilla!" Jessica took the tin from Cassie, and then told them to go to the dining room before leaving, presumably to go do the same. And then Charles- "What?" Cassie paused for a moment. She knew that Charles' father wasn't a huge fan of muggles, but had assumed that he was the only one or didn't mind all that much. Maybe Charles just wanted to be safe? "I-" Charles' next words were as though they were heading into a battlefield. "It's just Christmas dinner! How could I not be ready?" With a sunny smile, Cassie would follow Charles if he lead her to their seats.
