History/Background Story:
His last glance of his parents is also the first memory Grant can go back to and recall. He recalls a sense of love from them, but also safety and security from his uncle, who was just supposed to watch him for the night but ended up his rock after they never came back. Him and Grant's cousins. Even the smallest one, Matilda, who was just a baby at the time, was like a little sister to him.

He fit in third in the "ranks" and was never treated differently in the ways that mattered. Upon introductions his uncle stating he was his nephew was a distinction and there were times and even still are that extra sympathy is given for his loss of is parents and even if his cousins have lost their mother as well. His cousin, Sarah, holds all the maternal responsibilities in that area, and holds them well. When it was discovered he was going to Hogwarts, she organized his lists and got the plan of where they were going.

The fact that Grant believes he felt it when his parents died in the car crash doesn't really count since it's not provable or tangible. The first blatant instance was not that long ago, at Eight, when a neighbor dog got stuck in a fence post and Grant freed him without touching the fence...though he did also ruin it in the process and his uncle had to pay for the damages. Grant apologized to both, though freeing the dog helped cool the neighbor and in the end his uncle blamed himself for not preparing Grant for his inevitable letter, feeling he could just fight it a third time, finally and with Grant admitting the guidance may be useful.

Finally Grant knew what this Required but Secretive National School was that his uncle wouldn't mention if he could help it was. His uncle had hoped, for the sake of watching out for him fully, he would get sorted into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw like his cousins, but the House spreading continued with him in Hufflepuff, though he's sure it will stop there, there is no way, when it is her turn, sweet Matilda is a Slytherin!
