The next nine months passed without incedent. Letters and prank ideas were regularly exchanged, Cassie crashed her new bike and broke her leg, and the two friends sent letters across the chanel as often as possible. Until a little before Cassie's eleventh birthday...

Cassie sat down at her desk and put her pen to the paper. What should she write? Should she even write anything at all? After the revelation the day before about magic, and Beauxbatons, and wizardry, Cassie hadn't even considered what this would mean for her and the Troop. She wouldn't be able to write to them any more once she got to boarding school - she doubted that there would be a non-magical (what was the word? Muggle, that was it) post office at a school for witches and wizards. She should just stop writing here and now. But still, she found herself writing down, if not a very enthusiastic letter, a letter all the same.

Thanks so much for the present - and the card as well! Such a brilliant work of art - it belongs in the same art gallary galery gallery as the mona lisa! I may or may not have accidentally jiggled the lolly stick too hard, so the face, well... fell off.. but, you know, we're not gonna talk about that. Right? The prank set is awesome too - I can't wait to try them all out!! I really want to do the one with the fake eyeball on Élodie, I bet she'll scream so loud lol!

I thought you'd like it, I'm a mind-reader you know *winks dramatically* Oh and also I learn how to spell necessary so I am now officially the most AMAZING human being on Earth ;D As for the card, my art skills are also Picasso-level I know NOT REALLY THOUGH HA AS IF. Ooh the fake eyeball one would be awesome! It has actual veins and stuff it's soooo realistic.

Also the prank went EPICALLY! Mrs Grey was all "roar, you're grounded for a month" and she actually roared kinda like a lion! It was so funny haha. How's pranking going in fRaNcAiS?

Cassie had been putting it off for literal months. But now December was here, and it was nearly Christmas, and she couldn't help it. Even if she never spoke to Scarlett again after this, she couldn't not send her oldest friend a Christmas card. Still, though, she forced herself to put as little effort in it as possible. There was no point in doing anything fancy for someone you wouldn't be able to talk to come September. Cassie almost wished she wasn't going to boarding school - but then she remembered the words of the teacher who'd come to tell her family about Beauxbatons and knew that she was making the right choice. Magic. Maybe she couldn't have it without loosing Scarlett... but sometimes sacrifices had to be made.
